Awesome platform which requires some additional work
Matlab is great which is fact. I have waited for years to see it on iOS.
To be fully 5-star app it requires some additional work, better opportunities to customize workplace and of course mobile cross-app connection (fetch to Bloomberg for example).
I hope this platform will be updated and we will see a lot of new features.

An okay start
It's really cool that you can acquire sensor data, but the fact that you have to be connected to a computer running Matlab to save or use the data makes it much less useful. I don't understand why I can't use the Matlab Cloud to process the data (the online documentation says this is possible, but the in-app documentation says it's not supported). If this app allowed me to collect and process data on my phone, or even had a Simulink environment with sensor read blocks, I would give MathWorks all of my money.

Great way to access your Matlab files on mobile
nice option for the rare occasion one wishes to edit or mull over matlab scripts when limited to a mobile device. Matlab is an amazing product and is not free. Could point this out in the app store prior to downloading to avoid disappointing folks expecting something for nothing.

Good app in general, I love being able to interact with a session on my PC. But for the love of God please support image capture via the device camera! Why else would I want to run Matlab on iOS? This app is only 10% of its full potential without camera support.

Lightweight app that needs competition to get better
The app is described as a lightweight Matlab environment. It definitely is. It's essentially the command line tool from Matlab. While it's helpful on the go for quick calculations and graphs it's not optimized for platforms like the iPad Pro(lacks resolution and split screen support) and doesn't have the Matlab editor which would make it a great mobile application. I suspect it will take someone porting over octave to iOS in order for the Matlab team to make something great.

Excellent - please update for iPad pro
It is an excellent app. I love it to connect to my desktop Matlab version anywhere through a vpn tunneling but the keyboard layout is not updated for iPad pro, loosing one star in my rating. Please update it.

Matlab and Matlab Mobile Disappoints
This is supposed to be a mobile app, but you can't use a mobile device to upload a script to be executed! You have to upload a script from your macbook or pc first. Only then can the script be commanded to execute from your mobile device. Thanks for such an awkward and difficult to use tool MATLAB!! By the way, when will you finally get it together and allow arrays, and matrices, to be passed to a function by reference rather than by value? It's time to move out of the dark ages!!

Update!
[update 01/06/16] yay! It's back up and running again on my iPhone 6. [first review] Worked most of this year - started crashing at startup around October. Tried reloading and just will not get around crashing. Was a nice app when working though, and graphs were good enough to show colleagues.

Great to finally see sensor data support, however it's missing pressure data for the iPhone 6/+ and no resolution update.

Impossible to edit programs
After installing this, which is quite complicated, I realized that it is impossible to edit .m files in the app. Anyone who uses Matlab at anything but the very most basic level will at least write scripts. Without this ability, this app is essentially useless.
My recommendation is to instead get a remote access app on the iPad, and then run Matlab remotely on a PC.

This is a great app for students who have a class that is Matlab based (or anyone who is interested in Matlab) that want to learn basic code. Other than that is is pretty much a pointless app, that uses up one of your limited number of licenses.

These guys are so crooked it's fantastical to think the matlab license you PAID for would allow you to use the mobile flavor. Streamline the verification, let me enter an email/password and that's it. Focus on securing your primary platform and let's not kill ourselves over the mobile extension....mathworks=failure

Lacking keyboard support
The app is great except when using my Apple Bluetooth keyboard with my iPad the command line is hidden by the added number row. I do not need this number row when using a keyboard. Also, the up and down arrows on the keyboard do not cycle the command history as it does on a PC. I have suggested this to MathWorks before, but I don't think they took it as a development suggestion.
I wonder if their developers are even testing with a Bluetooth keyboard.

It's cool how you can use MatLab on your iDevice, but it requires a connection between the iDevice and the computer. Actively. Might as well just have the computer with you, unless you're running some scripts from away.

For simple math computation, this app is easy to use (with the correct account). Although MATLAB won't support mobile created scripts, this app is great for mobile testing/bug fixing of codes.

Great for student homework
When I'm without my computer and need to knock out some homework, it's a very useful app. It works under my student license with no issues.
I do not know how this app would hold up under heavier usage as I only do light amounts of work.

It's much easier to just work on the computer itself. Only works if phone is on the same network as the computer, so if that's the case why not just work from the computer? This app needs to be upgraded to support access from afar to be considered even remotely useful. Matlab itself (not mobile) is great though

Well lets just say that if I can't even use the input command for this app I might as well not really have it. Ok it gets 2 stars for being available for more simple programs or those that don't need input. But matlab needs to loosen up their tight grip on their wallet and allow for more interaction.

Good App with Future Potential
I just downloaded the Matlab mobile app to both my iPad and iPhone and once you register it to your Mathworks account on file (requires Matlab version R2012a or later) it becomes operational. I tried a host of straight forward calculations and they all worked fine, but sometimes were a little slow in computing, given its cloud infrastructure. You do need to separately upload m-scripts using your computer, and I have not yet tried out this functionality.
Overall, this is a neat application for running some of your Matlab calculations, without having to carry a computer.

iPhone 5 screen size would be something good to have. I certainly think that not having an editor makes things difficult. Overall, I like the app for what it is, but see a significant room for improvement.

The functionality of the app, for what it is, is fine. You can make pretty pictures and access data remotely from your desktop matlab environment. However, if this app is really to allow for the user to get any actual work done, an editor environment is necessary.

Great free app
Wouldn't mind paying for an editor add-on. I like how they tied the license together for pc and iPad. Though I think they removed the editor as to create the app version as a on-the-fly use and add the m-files through the pc.

I agree with other reviews about my willingness to pay for an app that allows editting of .m files. In addition, recently I've found that the app is crashing frequently and has interface bugs when i try to control a remote computer and view a resulting figure.

Typical matlab license nonsense
I entered all my license info to get this running and got a license error on the first command I typed in. I told me to go to a link that I cannot just click on to get help. I then typed it in, but I just got a 404.

Review Contains Improvement Request
I use MatLab in my research and classes, but I don't always want to lug my laptop around because it is too heavy. Thanks to this app, I can have MatLab on my iPod Touch, very convienient. I would however like to see " mupad " support and tha capablility to save the history of commands to a file similar to the " diray " command in MatLab for PCs. I would like to email the file to myself or transfer it to my computer, so I can then edit, copy and paste into a script file. I've only been using the app for a few days now, so maybe the app can do something similar to what I stated already and I haven't figured it out yet, but so far I haven't discovered the capability. Overall I am pleased with this app.

I am amazed at how easy it is to type text, possibly easier than on my computer version. I really like the paired parentheses, and the pinch zooming on plots is serendipitous.

This remind me of good old days matlab on dos, the matlab cloud ia really fast, and running matlab on iPhone is a privilege.
This cloud MATLAB is amazing, I was trying to solve a linear eqn on the street, and I simply typed A, B, then A\B, and I got my homework finished with iphone, really amazing.

Connect it to my computer, and it's quite easy to get disconnected, especially when I use 'mesh' to get a pic.

Close, but not quite there yet.
The overall implementation is great, very usable and not complicated in the least. I'm actually quite surprised how well operations are performed in the "cloud". All of the keys on the keyboard have also been optimized to make entry quick and easy, and the figures are surprisingly good given that they are sent to the device from the server and displayed in such a small window.
However, being an electrical engineering student, I use the symbolic equation form a lot, accompanied b the ezplot function, however, any time an "@" symbol is inserted into the command line, the entire app crashes back to the spring board.
With that said, believe this app is one or two updates away from allowing me to leave my laptop at home when heading to school for the day.
I can't wait until it is more stable!

not impressed
This is disappointing. First No iPad version. But even more frustrating, the touch keyboard obstructs 70% of the view area and there is not support for external keyboard. When you connect an external keyboard the application does not hide the software keyboard, so you are still stuck with just 30% of the view area. Kind of lame really.

Good start
I am really excited about the development of this application. In all honesty, this should be optimized for iPad. I have both the iPad and the iPhone and I doubt I would seriously try to do any computation on my phone. The iPad is perfect for this remote to Matlab. Also, there should be an optimized keyboard setting geared toward numerical computations since that is what most input would be.
Also, Matlab editor is needed. It would be nice to have near complete functionality for the app.

Unstable
Installing the connector on a Windows XP installation caused Matlab to repeatedly to crash with a segmentation violation error.
So I tried installing the connector on Mac Snow Leopard Matlab instead. The connector installed and activated with out incident. Then connected from the iphone app and typed "syms x" and the iphone application crashed.
Not worth a moment more of my time since they can't be bothered to test their own products.

This only does one real thing but for some people that is super useful--you can access your MATLAB machine at any time. Great for checking on slow processing or for quick calculations on the road. Wish it had better file management (SCM integration?) and more IDE features.
