You can think of iDiscrete as a digital safe, where you can securely store all your private pictures, videos, notes and more. Rather than requiring a suspicious looking password or PIN to enter the app, iDiscrete uses its patented Touch Sequence Protection™. This works by bringing up a fake "Loading" screen upon entry to the application. An unauthorized user will think the app is really loading, but the device owner knows that this is actually the password screen. A series of taps in the correct places (the "Touch Sequence") will open up the app. Doing nothing will boot to a dummy app.

This used to be an amazing app. But the fact that it hasn’t updated in three years has caused a lot of issues.
The file manager stopped working.
Sometimes it refuses to do multiple videos at the same time.
Videos end up without a thumbnail so it’s hard to tell what’s what.
And now. The new issue. The protection of the key sequence password is defaulting to unprotected. So it defeats the purpose of the app.

Stopped working
I have never had a problem w this app EVER.. with the latest IOS update 13.4.1 it has stopped accepting my passcode and my notes screen ‘hint’ is no longer there.. (I put the answer in but still doesn’t work). I have never paid for this app & in the help sections I am finding that’s it’s no longer free.. HELP???!!!

Could be perfect with one simple change
In file manager, if there was a way to select multiple files to transfer, this would be a much better app. As it is, having to select one file at a time is ok only if you don’t have many files to transfer. That one simple fix would put this to a 5.

I haven’t been able to open this App since I set up my pattern. I created a simple one because I had the feeling that something may go wrong. I also set up a backup numeric passcode. How can I use that if the app times out after a few seconds?

Bug report: Hidden Content shows after lock screen

Need Bug fix ASAP! Protected pictures and text content shows if you press side off button, then back on with bottom home button. App does not show challenge screen awaiting password pattern.
Other than that, this is a great app I purchased and been using for years— elegant, simple and useful! Also, thanks for update last year. Now please fix this blatant bug—no doubt an oversight in testing the protecting hidden content and kind of defeats the point of the product. Workaround is to close iDiscrete prior to hitting off button.

Deleted photos still remain
Used to use this app all the time, so was happy to see an update. But after deleting photos and loading new ones, the old photos are still displayed after clicking on the new thumbnail. Don’t remember this ever being an issue before.

Contents visible in App Switcher Mode!!
Really like this app but discovered that when you double-tap the home button to switch between apps, the contents (i.e. photo thumbnails) are visible. A bigger issue, if this app is running in the background and someone double-taps from another app.

In version 3.0 the touchcode entry screen (now grey instead of white) is unresponsive and I am unable to get into the app. I had no access issues prior to the 3.0 upgrade. Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas for a workaround of fix? Great app and frequently used. This is my first issue with it.

Does exactly as it should. Only issue I can see is that you HAVE to first have photos in your Camera Roll before you can transfer them to ID. When I press and hold on a photo to save I wish ID would be an option of where I can save it to so I can bypass the camera roll all together.

The iDiscrete App is fantastic, and support is the best I have ever experienced with an iPhone or iPad App. The fact you can load from iTunes is a great feature.
Before the most recent UI update it was great, but now the App refuses to landscape when the phone is rotated.

Portrait - Landscape Orientation
This is a great app that I have used for many years. However, the recent upgrade does not adjust between portrait and landscape orientation… it works only in portrait mode. Hopefully, this will be one of the features that was available in the earlier versions to reappear in this new version with future updates.

Does what it's supposed to
Works well and can even encrypt what you upload. First update in a while which will (hopefully) mean it will keep working for years to come. Once you get past the learning curve it's very easy to use.

An update!!
Holy Snapple an update! I've been using this app for years for... reasons... and had resigned myself to never seeing any improvements - not that it *really* needed them! Even years out of date it is exactly what it suggests, a simple and discreet means of storing things on your phone you don't want people stumbling across when they inevitably start poking around when you leave it unlocked or when they swipe while looking at a photo you're showing them. That being said, when adding things from the camera roll it always started from the top and you'd have to scroll down to find your newest photos, which in my case was through thousands of pictures, but that's been fixed with this update so as far as I'm concerned the app is near perfect now! The only other thing it needs is animated gif support, because when adding a gif from the camera roll it is imported as a jpg. That may be apple's fault more than anyone's, but if they could make it work this would be an absolute 5 stars.

It's not the design (there are prettier apps about there), It's the brilliant concept.

Waste of money
Shortly after iOS 10 was released I came across iDiscrete and the first thing I read about it was the developer's message about a bug that they would be releasing a fix for ASAP. So I purchased the app and patiently waited for that fix to be released but now several months later no update has been released as of the date of this posting.
So iDiscrete was a waste of my money.
I'll be uninstalling it shortly and looking for a similar app that is being supported.

Really had hopes here but after buying I notice the last update was years ago. The site they have is down which sound to me like this app is utter garbage.
Interface doesn't respond or save the settings and even after the mini tutorial it doesn't show any options but should you press randomly options appear beneath the mini tutorial.

Bad App!! Lose your photos!
This is a very Bad App!! When I got my next iPhone and downloaded their app from my iCloud back up---all of my photos were not there. Lose your photos! I launched their suggested email address and got bounce back where you can't even find there previous web site. Horrible to lose years of memories.

I've had this app since 2011 it worked fine. It had what I needed to store pics and videos. I had everything stored until I did an update. Yes! I did back up using cloud and my computer. Now I can't recover all my pics nor videos. That's why I gave a low rating.

NEARLY PERFECT
Operates exactly as advised on sale page. Excellent design of login procedure so that prying eyes don't even know they failed to login.
Suggested Improvements? Ability to save notes so that the failed login appears to be a true notetaking program. ...AND the ability to have videos play one after the other without returning to file list. ...AND the ability to shuffle files in playback would be cool as well.
FIVE STARS, you know you have stuff you want access to but don't want prying eyes to see, and this app fills that need, almost perfectly.

Great App! Versatile and secure.
Pros- security is perfect for public and family. Easy upload from camera roll. Folders can be reordered manually. I have over 1500 photos in it and it doesn't crash.
Cons- synchronization each time you turn it on can take several minutes before you can get in to see your folders. No mass-download back to phone or from website to computer. Still have to go through picture by picture to get them copied to local drives. Folder capacity seems to lag at 200 photos each; then it starts responding really slowly.
Overall, I love this app. Definitely has saved my private shots and collectables. Worth the buy!

The best
Nothing else can do what this app does. And the customer support is great. They've addressed almost every single issue that has ever come up, and on top of that, they keep adding great features in every update. It had its bugs at first, but even then it was a great app. Now, like a year later, the app is practically bug free with a few minor exceptions and is still getting better and better features. I respect a company that works this hard to help the customer get his privacy.
Sorry for the long review. It was worth it. Great app.

Change of heart
This is an update. My last review was wicked long and two stars, so I'm saving you the agony and just posting the update.
Since the last update, I have to agree that the app is again, living up to the standard it originally established. I would have given it 5 stars but like a few people said, it's a little slow starting up (post password entry). In my case, I have 5 or 6 videos and roughly 300 pics saved in the app. I'm not sure if the extensive delay is due to there being so many pics to decode or what but its a little depressing. Honestly, I've considered checking into other discreet apps just for the speed factor. If I'm in a hurry, which I frequently am, I don't wanna wait 45 seconds to a minute to upload my pics or whatever.
On a better note, the app finally recognizes the pics on my camera roll and does an excellent job hiding them.
Lastly, lets just put it this way, I'm willing to sacrifice the "secret touch sequence" for speed and the ability to change the icon appearance. Other than that (but speed is the kicker for me) this is an above average app. Worth the money but could be so much better.

Everything I could want and more coming!
My girlfriend and I enjoy making videos of an, uh, intimate nature, and with my iPhones HD camera its really easy to capture these moments. Unfortunately that meant that I couldn't let anyone just browse through my phone or use it without my supervision. Until, that is, iDiscrete came along! An example of it's awesomeness: My mother was browsing the apps on my phone looking for interesting ones that she might like. She opened the iDiscrete app, and after watching the loading screen open up into the notes, she just closed and it continued on. My personal girlfriend videos and pics are safe and sound!
This app does everything I could ask for in a privacy app. They really have this whole thing sorted out. Talk about intelligent design!
The developers are really responsive and have confirmed they are working on an iPad app that will allow wireless transfer of photos and videos so your devices are always up to date!
They also told me they will be allowing batch uploading from a computer via the web server in version 3.0 coming soon!

IDiscrete
This app is definitely a must have for anyone who needs to keep their files and info secure. Whether it's personal photos, videos or work documents that need to be kept confidential and from prying eyes, IDiscrete is the answer.
We've all been somewhere and put our IPads and IPhones down only to see someone who's curious pick it up and decide they're entitled to a browse through your device. Not anymore with IDiscrete.
Simple to use, elegant in design and a wonderful asset to your IPhone. Cheap at twice the price in my opinion for the peace of mind alone.
The IP / web interface for uploading files to IDiscrete is simply genius. And the app knows the difference between your documents, Power Points, and Excel spread sheets too. And I was surprised that it also knew several photo file formats and placed them in the proper directory.
Let me also add that Customer / Tech support is top notch. Send a question or ask for assistance and it'll be in your inbox before you know it!

Very good app -- exceptional customer service
This app is excellent. There are a few things that could be improved and these are things that the developer is working on. So, I suspect that within the next update or so this app will have almost everything it needs.
But what really pushes it over the top is the responsiveness and the patience of the developer to questions and requests for help. I sent a couple of emails and got really fast and helpful responses. They gave me workarounds to achieve what I wanted. Nice to know that VoteQuimby cares about its apps' users.
Given all this (and all the other people who mentioned similar experiences and workarounds) -- the instructions could be more detailed. I was told things about what I could do by hitting certain buttons and icons that were totally not readily evident and not in the manual. That could be a real help.
At any rate, more and better changes are apparently coming to this app that's worth the price, for sure. The peace of mind it offers is really worth it.

Waiting for the 2.0.1 version. Amazing app!!
I never had any issues with this amazing app.. Not until the new version came out. It has little bugs of course, but all I have to do is e-mail the creator & he responds & fixes the problem within hours!! This is a great app. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my money. Theres a glitch in the 2.0 but they are releasing a 2.0.1 version very soon. I talked with the developer and the update that fixes the bugs will be out any day now. They're just waiting on Apples approval. Great app! Great developer! Worth the money

Great, if you know how to use it.
I'm fairly certain that the reason some people are giving this app one star is because they didn't read the instructions or watch the demo video. When you open the app, it shows a blank loading screen and after a few seconds it opens a useless notepad-like app.
This is how the app is discrete. While it shows the blank loading screen, you are suppose to enter your touch password that you set up in the apps settings. Good luck! I've got nothing bad to say about this app. It has worked like a charm for me!

Use it everyday
I first got this app so I could have grown-up videos on my ipod and still let a 4 year old play with it. I don't like how sometimes the password doesn't get picked up even when I entered it correctly. Other than that I think the app is perfect. I use it to transfer files back and forth from my ipod and computer instead of iTunes because iTunes takes way to long. I've used it to transfer files to different computers, like a usb drive. I can also use this app to read pdfs which make other apps crash, but not those huge files like graphic novels. I've seen several updates with this app, which always makes me excited, but I don't know why because the app already far surpassed my expectations.

One Major security flaw!
The core app on iPhone is pretty nice. I'm happy about that. But there is a security flaw that needs to be addressed before I would feel comfortable using the "File Manager" portion of this app. File Manager is the browser interface to transfer files between iPhone and PC via WiFi. The problem is that when this interface is open, there is no authentication and your confidential data is open to anyone on the same WiFi network to read and download ALL of your confidential files. This is not a nice to have feature. If the aim is to secure sensitive data, having this gaping hole is not acceptable.

Issues but still very nice
Things are sometimes out of the hands of the developer and more of an issue with Apple. I have sent and received many emails with the the developer since I bought this app. My prior review was sent in haste and I should have let them have more time. Overall I like this app and would recommend it to anyone looking for a safe place to store files. Sure it has a few kinks but what in this world is perfect. If you remember to close this app the security is very good with the note pad coming up the way it does if someone else tries to launch it. Word docs should go in the TXT folder. Simple and effective.

Its not as bad as I first thought...
I wrote a rather scathing review of this app a few weeks back. Since then I have caught myself using it more than other apps of its kind to the point it become my "go to" application for securing my photos, videos, and other private information. While its clunky in places, and not always intuitive to use, it has been performing well these past weeks.
This is not to say its not without problems. I find uploading videoes to it clunky. The web interface is very lacking, and on several ocassions videos I take with the very camera iDiscrete is loaded on will not transfer correctly. Suffice to say, it could use more polish.
That said, its worked reliably and offers several cool features others do not. For the price, you won't go wrong with it.

Worth every penny!
I don't usually bother to leave comments on purchases but I had to throw my support into the 5 star rating on this. This is exactly what I was looking for. It's so easy to use and works perfectly. Uploading through wifi is simple and fast. I read somewhere that you could only use images that were 320x480 but I found that any size image was uploaded and quickly viewed (which is nice for zooming). The touch sequence password is brilliant and the dummy app is a sweet bonus! Even if you just want an app to organize your video and images on your phone, you won't find a better one than this. I can't say enough about how much I love this app! Worth every penny! (btw, I'm using the 3Gs)

Don't bother with the rest
8/10 Updates keep getting better. This rivals or exceeds many other security apps. Now imports n creates text files. Can speak to video compression quality as I haven't tried this feature yet. Dev is very responsive. Reports forthcoming AES encryption feature in the future.
Like the app sez: do ur homework. U will find this app offers far more for much less. Worth the price alone as a discrete n secure mass storage device. The Touch Sequence n non-descript app icon design n name make more sense than other apps. The best place to hide something is in plain view. NOTE: previous review on adding a web-based access password is spot-on. As the reviewer noted it's unlikely but possible to run across the web-based entry point which right now is completely defenseless. This would be a nice future tweak. This developer clearly takes pride in offering a great product. Thanks for one of my best app purchases of it's kind.

Bravo!!
I very seldom write a review, however I am more than happy to do so now. I have read the glowing reports of others which excited me about this app to begin with. So naturally I took the chance.
I absolutely agree that this is one of the coolest and most useful apps in the whole store; the security settings are second to none and it is extremely easy to use. The support team is extremely fast and responsive.
I find myself wanting to know more about other apps produced by this company simply because they don't leave you in the dark after your purchase they are really there for you and to me that's how you succeed in this business so I join all of you in lauding this app as it is a steal at this price; one could almost say "sometimes you do get something for nothing".

Safe, confined storage with a genius interface!
This app is a very comprehensive storage medium for private or sensitive material, and does so with a highly simplistic and clever interface. if you aren't the owner of the phone, and you launch iDiscrete, it just looks like a notepad app. However, only the owner will know the touch sequence required to open the app file storage system. Being able to control the time for the touch sequence input is nice, and along with the file transfer capabilities (not to mention the myriad of supported file types), makes this app a superior feature/price purchase.
Being a researcher, I have a lot of incoming and outgoing data from studies that are sensitive (i.e. not for the public). When I can't be near my computer or have to hit the road, iDiscrete provides a place to store the files for reference and quick decision making.
I have no idea why it would receive single star ratings either. . .people obviously aren't reading the very detailed directions supplied by the developers. Looking forward to seeing this app take off in iOS 4!

The best app!
I updated it as soon as it came in. The updates were much better than I thought! It supports so much files so if your phone were stolen and you store your files in idiscrete nothing will be seen. When you set up the app it shows a screen that the password is based on touch. Just remember where you touch it! This app is way better than the other apps out there I am very picky and this one is great. The creator does read the reviews and if anything positive Should be suggest just inform him! Overal a must get app!

Room to grow
I think the concept is amazing! I really like the app a lot but it is missing a few thing. One thing that I find in important is the lack photo/video movability. Once you have a photo or video in the app you cannot move, or export, it anywhere else. For example, you have a private picture you want to send to someone via text. Forget it, you can't do it. You cannot access the photo to be sent out of the app and you cannot export the photo out of the app to be, say back to photo albums, to be sent. Simply, the photo or video is stuck inside the app. That's not good at all. The company claims it will also be adding the ability to hold documents. This will be useless if you can't send out of the app. This app is a fantastic idea but needs work.
