The app regularly asks me (once per quarter maybe?) if I want to check for updates. No, it doesn't tell you what's changed, unfortunately, but no app I've used does. However, the bookmarking & highlighting features are the best out there. You can create as many bookmarks as you want, create bookmark folders, and easily organize and rearrange bookmarks. Highlighting is a great feature, but what makes it the best in this app is the ability to easily unhighlight, and it saves your highlights even if the section has updates. Also, the subscription is valid across multiple devices. I use only one subscription for my iPhone, work iPad, and personal iPad. Furthermore, I am paranoid about data loss and appreciate the ability to backup my bookmark & highlighting data to my DropBox. This also allows the ability to transfer bookmarks & highlights between devices. Yes, it's a recurring subscription and not a one-time fee, but it's less than buying a paper copy every year and for me it's totally worth for the extra features.

One-star because there have been no updates to the application or, more importantly, its *content*. Simply do what you advertise to get a higher rating and better review.

This app has a nice search engine (when it works) and will find areas of interest with just a few words. The words don't even need to be in order. The problem is that when you search for 10,000 feet - it will see the comma as a separator and search for any passage that contains "10", "000", or "feet"

There is no way to know what's changed in the regulations. When it updates, you get no feedback as to where to locate changes. This means you need to read the entire regulation on a regular basis and try to memorize passages, so you can recongize the changes

The app will try to update in flight. It doesn't check for a connection to the server before suggesting you update.

It asks you if you would recommend the app. I always answer no. If I want to recommend an app, that's my business and not the developers.

You have to have separate purchases for all your Apple (iPhone, iPad) devises. Why?

I should be able to use this on both devices with one purchase. I am looking for other options.

As a CFII, my students will learn this from word of mouth not experience as I have.

I think your app is the best of the best. First it encompasses all FAR Parts with updates that take less than a minute to accomplish. Second, you can do w work she search to display all sections containing those words and then easily navigate to the specific part of interest. I use this app to find specific regulations that I incorporate into a cloud-based IS-BAO application.

What is needed with this application is a method to identify (flag) sections that have been updated for the current year.

I'm a busy flight instructor and do a lot of teaching of other flight instructors and find this to be a great resource for teaching where to find appropriate regulatory guidance. Highly recommend.

As far as I can tell, there is no "great" FAR/AIM app, but this the best I could find. You can bookmark and highlight passages. There is a glossary, and a help wiki. The content seems up to date, though there has not been an app update since late 2014. I am a commercial pilot in training, and it has met my needs.

This is a great app and I highly recommend it for pilots in training and CFIs.

However, a year after the iPhone 6 was released, I believe that it is time to update the app to support the new screen sizes.

App quit prompting for updates earlier this year. Didn't catch that. My fault. A while back, when asked about the new 91.155 VFR Class G requirements for helicopters, I confidently whipped out my trusty FAR/AIM and stated"Naw, that ain't in effect yet".......... And recently, the app blanked out all of my content with a request to renew my subscription, which doesn't expire for another month. I will look elsewhere for a more trustworthy source of such important and liable information.

Not sure what trouble the guys were having back in October, but this app works great for the 4th gen iPad and iPad Air 2. Content matches ECFR, and I've never had trouble updating. Quick responses to email, definitely a five star app.

I was just contacted by the developer of this app informing me that anyone who bought the original PilotAIM and PilotFAR apps gets upgraded 4 times a year for free, forever. This is great news and I was totally unaware! Thanks for the e-mail contact!! I love the apps and I've been using them since mid-2009.

When I first purchased this a while back, updated content was included. Now you pay for updates. It seems many people are not even getting paid for content.

I recently had to switch phones and the app would not restore my subscription which had several more months left on it. The fact that there even IS a subscription is pretty ridiculous. Get the ASA FAR/AIM app. It's much better and has free updates.

I purchased content for this app which they no longer deliver. Best look elsewhere.

The sale of this app USED to be updated as part of your purchase price. Once they took my money, started charging for updates AND BLOCK WHAT I PAID FOR. Oh yeah, and they whacked all of the bad press over their actions.

I purchased the app a while back for my iPhone 3GS and have been nothing short of pleased with its performance and price.

I recently purchased an iPad mini and loaded the app, but when I tried to re-activate my subscription, it didn't work. After trying all the normal fixes (stop the app, erase and reload, etc) I sent an email to the developers over the weekend.

First thing Monday morning, I received an email that first apologized for the inconvenience, and then provided a hyperlink and step by step instructions to fix the problem. The solution resolved my issue quickly and easily.

In the current day where custom service seems to be a bother, this was a breath of fresh air...I look forward to purchasing more of their apps!!!

I can agree with other comments about this app since I am also a flight instructor. It's way better than a book for so many reasons, there is no way I could go back, but the only request I would add is if there was a way to see the areas that were changed in the update like it does in the book with a black mark to indicate the areas that were changed. That way it would be easier to keep track of any pertinent important regulation changes. That would be the only improvement I can see. Otherwise an excellent app.

As an active flight instructor this app is incredible. It offers an incredible folder organization system, bookmarks, highlighting and search-ability amongst other great features. Highly recommended! You can also back-up your folders as well as share your backups with others.

Great E version of the FAR/AIM. I love the feature that let's you highlight and send specific sections via email. I recently replaced my iPad and could not use my FAR/AIM. (I recommend you spend the extra $ on the subscription version). The developer got back to me within the week to help me out.

This is the premier reference for all serious pilots and especially flight instructors. FARs/AIM/PCG right at your fingertips, searchable, and a lifetime subscription that costs less than one copy of that big fat book. I have been using this for years and have my most frequently needed resources bookmarked and highlighted. When I whip it out and immediately zero in on what I was looking for it makes me look like a real expert. (The truth is, I just know where to look.) I had one glitch when I upgraded to a newer iPad. I emailed customer support and my glitch was solved in 24 hours. There is just simply nothing to complain about with this product. Easily, a 5-star app. Buy it!

I emailed support at 9:00 PM because my updates were not working and I received a response (and the solution) at 9:07 PM. The product is great but the service is second to none.

Downloaded 3 times and paid for the premium app and still haven't gotten it to work.

You have to buy the premium version to get all the chapters. The content is there but it is dimmed out and very hard to see. A red flag says to buy the premium version.

I really enjoy using this app. Its design is elegant. It's far faster to search in this app than in any other. And browsing makes the dry text of regs almost enjoyable.

When I had a problem with my account, the developer replied within an hour, and all was fixed.

Great App, wonderful customer service. App works great on either iPhone or iPad. I like it best on the iPhone, when out on the flight line out of range of 4G or wifi and a question comes up I can answer it immediately without having to find my books or iPad. Highly Recommend.

Great way to have FAR/AIM for general reference. Sure beats lugging around the big book. The tech support is fabulous. Issue fixed within an hour of upgrading to subscription.

I use this app with students to show the hierarchy of FARs and appreciate not having to lug a hard copy around. It has the best organization of any FAR app in in my opinion, and YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION is cheaper than buying a new hard copy every year (not to mention hard copies are basically out of date the moment they're printed).

I made the "one-time" download of this app to my iPhone. Then I couldn't download the same app to my iPad. With the help of great customer service I now have the app running on both my "i" devices.

Let's face it we don't look at this enough. But when you need to find something, you need it usually immediately. This works well.

Every time I purchase a new device and/or restore a current one, I try to restore my purchases. This app is the only one that always gives me grief.

I've been using Pilot FAR since it was three separate apps (one each for FAR, AIM, and PCG). It's a fantastic reference: kept current, quick search, easy to bookmark relevant sections. I had noticed a review mention that highlighting was not working on iOS 6: I upgraded to 5.2.7 today, and can verify that it is working correctly in this version (on iOS 6, with an iPhone 5).

Above all else, I have to say that the developer is incredibly responsive. I've emailed on a couple of occasions, and have received a response each time within 1-2 hours. In both cases, the issue was resolved immediately.

I wanted to let people know that this app is a great addition to have alongside the FAR/AIM book for quick reference. Also, the customer support is fantastic! I was an early, early adopter of the original FAR, AIM, PCG apps. I didn't realise they had been discontinued until today, when i saw the information hadn't been updated in more than a year. I contacted support and they helped me so I continue to get the updates for free that I had gotten with my original purchase of the seperate apps. Spent some time looking at the updated app and it is really well designed for the iPad and very useable on the iPhone, much better than the original. I am impressed by the App and by the customer service I recieved. I especially like the ability to sync my bookmarks and settings between my iPad and my iPhone.

This is an excellent app. I am a flight instructor and find this invaluable. It is so easy to find information with the search feature. I love being able to bookmark frequently referenced regs. You can even group bookmarks into folders. I recommend this to my students. When I have had questions support has been extremely quick and helpful. Thanks for a very practical app.

Being "in the business", I use this app multiple times throughout the day. Very user friendly and up to date. The search function is very helpful In those situations where you say, "I know it is in there... Just can't remember where!". If you too are in the business, I highly recommend this app!

This app is great on both iPhone and iPad .. find it very helpful to review the obscure situations that happen from time-to-time in the real world. I fly professionally and am extremely satisified with this one.

I did have a problem with my iPad not updating - emailed support and had a conversation going in the matter of a few hours (on a weekend!) - problem was resolved very quickly. In fact, they sent me a customized hyperlink so I really didn't have to do anything more complex than open the email and tap the link.

The best FAR/ AIM on the market by far. One of the most important things about apps is the Customer service team behind them. When installing the program on my iPad, I was unable to access the material. One quick email later and I was back in business. The team here cares about their customers. That alone is worth the very fair price.

Great app with great customer service! I was having trouble using Dropbox to synch between iPad and iPhone (apparently it is a known bug that will be fixed in the next update). I sent off an email and literally received a response with a work around within minutes. It's great to have the FAR/AIM always with you and easily accessible with highlights, bookmarks, etc.

One of the best pilot reference apps available for the iPad / iPhone. The bookmark feature allows you to organize and store links to different sections. You have the option to create subfolders for any or all sections of the FAR. For example Part 61, Part 91, NTSB 830 or AIM, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc., and then store the bookmarks to each section within the subfolder. The app can also highlight text or email sections. Tech support has been excellent and very responsive to questions via email. This is a must have for your EFB.

I'm a CFI who has been using the FAR AIM app for a year. It works seamlessly, and is intuitive to use. Recently I had a problem getting updates, and asked for help within the app. I got a quick response and was back up and running in no time. Outstanding product and service!

Awesome and VERY quick responses from Nick. The only practical shortcoming for me is lack of visibility into what changed from the previous version, so it's hard to find the changes. Nick said it's functionality they really want to add and hopefully they can add it at some point. I bought the PilotAIM, PilotCFG, and PilotFAR and am an "upgrade" user from version 4.

After the iOS 5 upgrade, PilotFAR and PilotAIM were no longer compatible, but the developer grandfathered us all in to this app at no upgrade cost. When I had a question about the upgrade, I had a response within an hour. Now that's support!

I would recommend this app to anyone and everyone that needs access to the FARs and AIM.

I am the Chief Pilot for a Part 135 operator, and we have been approved to use the iPad in 'paperless' operations.

All of our pilots are issued an iPad that includes this app. PilotFAR / AIM gives us all the information we need in an easy-to-use format, and performs as well or better than the paper version we were previously flying with. Great app!

I've been using the app for several months. As a commercial pilot & CFI, I use the app on a regular basis. For a price much less than a paper copy of the FAR/AIM, I can be sure my info is always up to date with the frequent content updates. Plus, I always have it with me since it is on both my iPad & iPhone with a single purchase.

The user interface is simple & well laid out. I especially like being able to bookmark sections & highlight essential info. Also, the ability to email sections to my students (even if they don't have the app or apple devices) helps them to learn important FARs & AIM info. Although many of my students end up buying the app.

The developer has also been quick to respond to the few questions I've had.

Well worth the purchase price.

The update gives you the option to get more timely in-App updates through a subscription model, but the original lifetime model still applies, so you don't have to start paying for what you already bought into previously. Update to ver 5.1 worked fine for me. Nick at CoDeveloper Support was helpful and returned my email inquiry in minutes.

As a flight instructor, I spend a lot of time referring to and teaching out of the FAR, AIM and Pilot/Controller Glossary. By far, I think Co-Developer's application is the easiest to navigate, search and send references, or homework ;), to students or other pilots. I can quickly bookmark specifics when planning a lesson so its easy to find during ground review. I also use it when studying for 135 orals so that I can stay brushed up on 135 regulations as well. Happy to pay for subscriptions to have the most up-to-date regs in hand!

Got a question? The answer is in your hands, right now, when you need it, and not later when you get home to your dog-eared AIM and have forgotten the question. For that reason alone, it makes for safer flights, and better pilots. The app can be improved for looks, but really, who cares. Is you doctor ugly? Does it matter?

Professional pilot here (Flight Check), and this is another example of how useful the iPhone can be. Organization is good, it's customizable, and it's easy to find what I want, either by part and chapter, or by text search. An excellent addition to my aviation apps, and I can leave the heavy books behind.

I don't understand Deriet's complaints. Quick scrolling is quite easy and effective, and when using text search, when you touch a search result, it shows the hierarchy at the top, so it's immediately apparent where you are in the regs. You can go back and forth between the search results and the actual references easily.

I am a 5k hour ATP, CFI, II, MEI. This app is perfect for a FAR/AIM memory jog in a jam. No one used to carry the FARs with them (and certainly not the AIM), but this app makes it possible! I love the search engine and the fact that you can hide sections not applicable. Tech support is very fast. This is a great app that is well worth the purchase. Highly recommended and yet another valid reason to have an iPhone out in the cockpit.

The purpose of this app is to be able to quickly find info. Unfortunately there are three major obstacles relative to navigation that, in my opinion, render this app worthless.

First, there is no effective table of contents that gives you an overview of the available info. Sure, there is a list of entries that they call a table of contents. But if I have to scroll 40 pages down to go from the top of this gable to the bottom, well, then you can hardly call this a table of contents that assists you with navigation.

Second, if I search something using search terms, there is no way to relate the found info to the table of contents. In other words, to understand where the info that I just found is located in the text.

Third, if I look at a specific piece of text, I see subheadings above that text (chapter, section etc.). I would like to jump to the start of that chapter, section or paragraph by clicking on the name of that chapter, sexton etc. But this doesn't work.

I've solved all my problems by downloading a PDF with AIM and using a good PDF reader (iAnnotate) that also allows me to write comments and create bookmarks. This works MUCH better.

Too bad, the purchase of this app was a waste of my money.

I originally purchased and used Pilot FAR, which does not include the FAR/AIM. Nevertheless, found it so user friendly and helpful to carry a fully updated set of regs in my pocket that I decided to go for this. ABSOLUTELY NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!!! This version also comes with the PCG. The developer has outdone himself on this. As an ATP and CFII/MEI, this helps me quickly pull up accurate answers, regardless what job I'm doing or where I happen to be - cockpit, hangar, ops office, sim, classroom, etc. The search feature is incredible. I often beat my colleagues and our AMTs to regulatory answers. For the cost of a single paper-bound version of this, you can carry everything up-to-date right in your flight bag. What a winner. A no-brainer at the price. Great job!

As an Air Carrier APD/Check Airman I pride myself on providing accurate information (with a ready reference) to pilots. I have used another iPhone CFR App, .pdf documentation, FAA Website and printed FAR and AIM information. PilotFAR/AIM is accurate (I have checked with FAA source documents), the iPhone App provides an easy way to access/display FAR/AIM on such a small screen. The iPad App is nothing short of stunning. IT IS NOT JUST ANOTHER 2X Application. Easy on the eyes and although the same information as the iPhone a very intuitive presentation. I cannot wait to see what CoDeveloper has in mind for the future. Developer is very responsive to Email and provides excellent customer service with unique issues. Well Done CoDeveloper!

While it is handy to have this information in electronic form, I am very disappointed in the image quality. Many of the images are simply indecipherable. For my ten dollars I would expect better quality. If I had found this on a store shelf, I would have put it back. If it were possible, to do returns in the apple store, I would kindly ask for a refund and delete this from my iPad.

I use this app multiple times a day to look up specific regs in the FARs or sections in the AIM. My students love that they are able to bookmark the sections they have trouble remembering for a quick review without pulling out a huge book. The interface is quick, clean, and very easy to use. I usually get a response from the developer within an hour that directly addresses my concern, question, or suggestion. The developer has been making steady improvements to PilotFAR, PilotAIM, PilotPCG, and now PilotFAR / AIM. I am looking forward to his E6B application and yet another clean, professional, and useful application.

I use this app all the time. I've used it as a commercial pilot, and I'm currently using it while studying for my CFI. I know that I will use it as a reference for my students when I've earned my CFI. I like the app because it instantaneously filters the FARs or AIM based upon one or more search terms. There's literally no waiting at all. You can bookmark items that you wish to review at a later date for quick reference. This is truly one of the most useful apps I have on my iPhone. I'm waiting eagerly for the release with iPad compatibility.

As a flight instructor, I've been using both PilotFAR and PilotAIM for months on my iPhone. They are both very well-written and elegant in their presentation. Searching is well-designed and fast and certainly beats trying to look through a 3 inch thick book. All pictures, figures, and tables are present and readable. And, best of all, updates are regularly available to keep up with the constantly-changing FARs. My 2010 FAR/AIM book is already out-of-date, so I use the iPhone apps as my primary reference. It also includes Part 121 so there's no need to buy a separate book. I can't wait for the iPad version to come out! I'll never buy the book again.

I am an airline pilot. Searches are easy and the bookmarks function is great. I have all of the regs applicable to our operation bookmarked for easy review. The option to display the regs as GA or commercial is very clever and is absent on other similar apps. This is the premiere FAR/AIM app. I and many of my fellow colleages would not be without it. It is invaluable to every pilot out there.

I recommend this app wholeheartedly. It is so convenient to have this large tome right on my iPhone rather than having to lug the big book around. Whatsmore, its kept up-to-date. Because of its convenience, I find myself referring to it more often, and benefitting by its usage more than I would have otherwise.

With the search feature, locating what I want to know is made so much faster and easier than digging through the book! It makes it easy to find other items relevant to my primary search as well. I make good use of the bookmarking feature. The email function comes in handy when I want to send and/or print passages for documentation purposes.

As a previous user of PilotFAR, PilotAIM and PilotPCG, I can say that CoDeveloper has outdone himself with this new combined app. The three components now work together seamlessly, as key terms and references are crosslinked between volumes. This is a fantastic feature and a great inducement to get this combined app! Not to mention that having it all under one icon on my springboard has freed-up valuable space for other apps ;)

A very intuitive app that contains a wealth of current info. As a flight instructor I think this is an every student must have. The cross referencing is a great feature that allows you to save time. The developers are eager for input from users and are incorporating our ideas into new revisions. I also highly recommend their pilot prep app.

The FAR/AIM manuals are the "Bible" for any pilot, and there is no better way to keep them close at hand than to have them in your pocket all of the time. This is, by far, the best pilot reference app! I used to dread hunting for information in the AIM/FAR, but now it is actually pretty fun. I love the bookmark option - letting you quickly access commonly referenced items. It definitely gives me peace of mind in the cockpit to know I can reference any FAR/AIM item instantly. The PCG is also a nice bonus. I highly recommend this app to ANY pilot whether you are just starting out or have 20,000 hours. I especially love how CoDeveloper has now turned three apps into one! Two weeks ago I earned my CFI, and having the Pilot FAR and Pilot AIM apps helped me in more ways than I can even begin to say. Now, with both the FAR and the AIM in the same app, as well as the glossary, looking up regs is even faster. To any pilot, regardless of raiting: having this app will greatly reduce the time you spend turning pages and probably have a direct correlation on your frustration levels.

Special note to students: you'll be more likely to remember the answers to your questions regarding the FARs if you look up the answer yourself. (That said, I'm not saying you shouldn't ask your instructor.)

I am a Helicopter CFI and have to say this is a must have app, as with all of Codeveloper's apps. I already own the individual set and when this came out, I had to get it. It frees ups more space on my phone and has everything I need, and I refer to it often!

The app is up to date and so easy to function, it's an "all-n-1" and I recommned this to all my students. It is so much better than having to carry around that bulky book, and codeveloper is very costumer oriented. Every time I have contacted him, I had a response within the hour.

The UI is smooth and NO pilot should be without it!

This is the App I have been waiting for! I purchased the PilotFAR, PilotAIM and have the PilotPCG as well. All great apps for searching for data in these three important volumes, but this newest app is even better! All three apps in one! When it came out, I knew I wanted to get it to reduce the clutter of having the three apps down to one. The price is like buying the 2010 FAR/AIM book so it's well worth it to have this entirely new and updated reference material all-in-one App!

As a CFI, I recommend to each of my students that they buy the entire CoDeveloper suite of Apps because of how well written and nicely formatted they are. Now I can recommend this FAR/AIM/PCG app and the GREAT PilotPrep study guide to round it out!

One final comment -- during a recent ground school class I was teaching on Regulations, over half of the class was using CoDeveloper's PilotFAR on their iPhones to quickly search and reference the FARs as I was teaching. Every time I asked a question, the PilotFAR students had the right answer within seconds! It was so much nicer than waiting for pages to flip in the usual paper FAR/AIM and the regulations were more up to date as well! By the end of the class, most of the others were ready to go out and buy an iPhone to not be left behind!
