Description

A reference for trigger points and referral patterns for 108 muscles. Features 160 trigger points with their corresponding referral patterns, 80 conditions that can be caused by trigger points, and 25 videos that show how to release specific muscles. Each muscle includes the visual referral pattern and point location, plus a written muscle action, referral, origin, insertion, nerve, comments, and audio pronunciation for each muscle. You can choose to view each muscle individually, or use the zones view to see all the muscles that refer into a specific area (or for a specific condition). This is a great help in discovering the source of pain.
This app features all the scientifically proven trigger points and referral patterns as shown in the research.
Trigger points are tight places in a muscle that cause pain to be felt elsewhere in the body. This is great for massage therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors, or anyone wanting to discover the source of muscular pain, and learn about muscle function.

Accurate information combined with an intuitive, easy to use interface make this a great app for understanding and using trigger points. Perfect tool for getting to know your body on the inside!

I have recently become passionate about wholehearted living and because of this I have come to the beginning of learning "what's connected to what", and "what is where" inside of my body. I'm on a mission to take great care of my body and release my trigger points. Especially because I'm lifting weights on a 5 day split and I love working on my specific areas so that I can recover more quickly and also deepen my stretch/flexibility. this app is SO worth the price. it seems a little spendy but if you're committed to being your best, it's worth the investment.

Love it

This app has come in handy a few times. I use from time to time to see if there's another idea or I'm missing something when working w/my clients. But I do wish it was much more detailed, these are all very superficial.
To those upset by lack of instructions to release the TrP:
Listen folks, there's a reason Massage Therapists have to go to school and pass national exams to be licensed. You CAN hurt yourself, or perpetuate and worsen the problem, going at it on your own. Go see a LMT. To get your monies worth, get a referral from someone you trust or call a high end spa (one w/no hair salon), tell them you need someone good w/pain management and ask for someone who's been doing it 3yrs+.

Great app for locating trigger points!

For anyone interested in trigger point therapy, this is a very helpful app for locating the most common possible trigger points to work on for relieving pain.
Trigger point locations are shown along with the regions they can affect. Work backwards from the paint region to locate trigger points to treat. Very helpful, especially since the trigger point can be located away from the pain.
Use this in conjunction with a good book on trigger point therapy to understand how to treat pain.

An app I use every day

I've had success in the past with trigger point massage treatments, but can't afford to go as often as I need it. Working out the kinks!

This app gives you many of the trigger points, and a layperson can handle the application of pressure to these points. I've been using this app a lot to work out shoulder pain. I wish there was more direction on each point, rather than general instructions overall. But the comment and info drop downs are still quite useful. It's always neat to find points that are causing pain somewhere else in the body and seeing the difference when you pay attention to those points.

Love this app!

As a medical massage therapist, I look for causes of problems in my clients. This stunningly beautiful app illustrates common trigger points and pain referral areas. It is very easy to use-just touch the area that has pain, and the app will tell you the origin of the pain. You can search by muscle name, as well. I was very impressed for the small price I paid for it, and have used it repeatedly to illustrate pain patterns/causes to clients.

So handy!

I LOVE my trigger point manual, but of course I don't want to carry it around with me, so this app is just the thing! I use it at least once a week for myself, and have used it many times to help friends, as trPs can mimic several things that require surgery, but are MUCH more easy to correct. Visuals, like those provided in this app are crucial when explaining to a person WHY they hurt in THIS area, but need to work in a DIFFERENT area. The reason for only 4 stars, is that it would be nice to be able to flip the process-show me where it hurts, then the possible points that could be causing it. But still, so happy to have this app! Great job!

Excellent app but parts of me wanted more

The app is great itself; however, I'd love it even more if it covered all the trigger points in Travell's books. Not much to it.

If you are looking for an interactive app, keep looking. This app uses static illustrations. When I say "static" I mean there is no rotating or zooming in and out of images going on here. It's very simple. There is very little interactivity. But, I'm not a medical professional, so this app might have a lot of useful information. It looks like the content is there. I'm just thinking that they could have taken advantage of the iPad / iPhone capabilities to make this a true,y engaging and immersive app?

It's a good start!

As a massage therapist, I use trigger point therapy. This tool is a good start and helps remember the fundamentals of the main trigger points. It could include a more detailed map for professional and be more of a educational app. Some text on how to treat trigger point by yourself; theracane, tennis ball therapy and so on. Also, the graphic is nice and simple which is a plus for the visualization. Including a 3D rotation of the muscle would be worth it!
The overall is good and is a solid base for a more advanced app, for professional who want to study or explain and show their client/patient what is going on and where, in case it comes to life one day.

Brilliant

I'm having a great time finding these with my family--and the relief you feel afterwards is pretty addictive.
Does applying heat to the muscle help? How about stretching?
Also--are there any warnings? About areas we should avoid pressing? (example: sensitive nerves, veins, maybe points that are best to leave alone unless under professional supervision?)
Oh! Folders would be nice, too, so we can save points we are particularly interested in.

My body loves this app!

I am a former equine sports massage therapist, so I was aware that trigger points existed. Some times I would find them on my body and feel the same sensations in my fingertips upon their release that I have felt working with horse flesh. Now I can pick a painful zone on my body and systematically eliminate about 80% of my pain and discomfort. All that and some useful info to learn. I gave this app 4 stars because I need the creators to add even more zones and trigger points. Otherwise, if you have a general understanding about how touch energy works, this is a very helpful and informative app.

Fantastic app

This is a great app especially for the price! It is a great reference tool when you are out in the field and being able to show clients the muscles causing their pain is very educational. I am a massage therapist and would highly recommend this app!

Points

This app is a very good app! It took me a while to find something like this one. The thing is if it can show a part of just muscles and another part of just bones. Another thing is how to touch or hit or whatever is the way to get the pressure point. It will help if it had a video to how make it hurt as a defense app; for men and women that rather just walk away in one peace.

Informative and helpful, but not for all

This a very good app for anyone interested in knowing more about pressure points and how to identify where pain might originate from. However, not so great if you're looking for exercises to alleviate pain or even how deal with the pain immediately.
For the price I would have liked videos, or at least some tutorials, on how to apply pressure at each point to alleviate the pain, i.e., apply pressure and hold, apply pressure in a circular motion, apply pressure with knuckle, etc. Obviously, I am new to science.
All that said, I would recommend this app.

Love it but

Its very useful it groups sections and tells you what muscles to work if you have pain in a specific area it is very accurate however some muscles are missing and some areas are not available to the List option hope you update soon this ap is a great idea and a great help to me as a massage therapist for planning a session and also for soap notes. Really appreciate it.

Decent but could be better

It has some great graphics and good info but not enough muscles. It seems to list all the superficial muscles but nothing else...please add these in when updated..then it would get a 4-5 star rating for sure. Could also use a treatment/intrervention section with pics but that may be asking too much
