Better than a DIdi
The metro in Shanghai beats all the traffic above ground but you need to know how to get there. This app is the best! I’m so glad I upgraded as I live in the outskirts and it’s important to know when lines open/close.

Best Shanghai Metro App Around
Spent 2 weeks in Shanghai. This app absolutely was the easiest and best to use. Before leaving, I had down loaded 4 different free and paid Shanghai Metro apps. Within 2 days, I abandoned the other apps and used this one.
I even recommended this app to several foreigners who asked me about it.

This app is all you need to get around Shanghai
This app is incredible. We just moved to Shanghai, and it was a lifesaver as we figured out the metro. The best feature is planning a journey: just tap entry and exit stations and the app tells you exactly where to go—particularly helpful when the stations are crowded. It was so helpful, we downloaded the app for Bangkok, and it was just as valuable there.

I really love this app! I had this other map before that didn’t get improving info as quick as this app. But, there are improvements I could suggest:
1. You should include the new extensions and lines, like Lines 5, 10, 13 and 14 and say “Under Construction” next to the extended bit and highlight the extensions in progress in grey, so people know what easier routes they could plan in the future.
2. You should highlight the Park Stations in green (Jinjiang Park in yellow), the Railway Stations in grey, and the Airports in bold black. You should also change the shape for virtual interchange stations, e.g. Longhua (Line 11, 12) is a square shape instead of an oval shape.
3. You should create a map for every station (If not, just the popular ones) that has things like Lifts, Ticket Machines, Stairs, Toilets, obviously exits, and Escalators and there could be an up or down arrow on them showing if they go up or down.
4. You should adjust the river on the map a bit, without having to stretch out lines like Line 11 (Longyao Rd. - Oriental Sports Center) and make the river split in two, going around Fuxing Island Station. (Line 12)
5. You should allow VIPs to suggest ideas on the app without having to type in their email, which is why I am suggesting here.
Well, that’s all I have to say, but thank you for your hard work on this app and please consider at least one of my ideas ;)

Works offline!
This is the only map you’ll need for Shanghai! Upgrade for $1.99 for the VIP version. It has pronunciations for each stop along with street maps in both Google and Apple with all the exit locations, and operating times! Best of all it can be used offline. Since I will only be using WiFi while there, this is a HUGE selling point for me. Couldn’t be happier with this app!

App isn't keeping up with other free apps
Wow!! Loved this app until a coworker showed me the light! Another app which you can find on your own, is much better in virtually every way that I can find anyway. My biggest complaint of this app is that every time I need to go to Pudong it won't give me the 'quickest route' option using the Maglev to and from Pudong. Why bother showing the Maglev on the map if your transfer bot in your coding won't account for it? Other things like less popular trams and train lines with limited distances aren't shown at all but they do exist and connect directly with a few metro stations.

Trust this app!
We used this app all the time during our Shanghai trip, but the funny thing is the one time we didn't trust it, we were wrong. In Shanghai, some line transfers require you to leave the station to switch trains -- big inconvenience. The app said we should go out of our way two stops to switch, but I ignored it. Well, if we had done that then we wouldn't have had to leave the station in the rain! So download this app and just believe what it says when it tells you the best routes.

It's just unfair
I purchased this app long time ago and have been using it for years until recently I tried to install it on my new iPhone. Why do I have to pay for the so-called VIP mode which offers exactly the same functions I've been using for years. Do I get a refund for losing the prior version of the app? That's unfair and disgusting.

Rip off
Don't pay the $1.99 for the train "times" !! They only say the first and last train! It's not like Hyperdia with an actual time table. And the "tips" are nothing more than things like "McDonald's at exit 4," etc. Not helpful. I'll be requesting a refund from Apple as soon as I'm home.

Paid for this app, but still have ads ?!
Had to download again on a new phone - now have ads everywhere ! Tried to restore purchases, nothing happens, very disappointed :(

Does not work well
Problem using this APP is that when you try to “TURN iPHONE” to show taxi driver the address, nothing happens. This feature used to work on earlier versions, but not on this version!

GREAT APP!
Never get lost again. I've tried them all! With this one "user friendly" enter where you start and want to go, then details, then send to picture (or text your self) and you are home free! Don't get caught with no location or signal in terminal so you don't know where to get on or off! Believe me I've done it a few times using other apps! Love it!

Very easy to use. Having all the first and last train data, as well as an accurate route planner, available offline has saved me a few times. Gladly paid for the full version. Will definitely download the Taipei app when I visit next month.

I paid for this app. There were no ads for the past two years. Now there is this ugly advertising taking up precious real estate in my PAID search. Minus two stars from the 5 I would have given just for the ads.

Perfect

Seriously good map
I've used this app for years now (ever since the iPod touch second generation as new) and I can personally vouch that this is the best map for navigating the shanghai metro. It's got times, costs, and up to date maps. I have family who live in shanghai and with this thing, I actually gave them tips on best route.

Great for first time travelers! Easy to use.
I was in Shanghai and needed to get from Jiading to Pudong. I've never been on the Metro before, but this app seemed clear for route planning and gave estimated time and voice (and character) translation of the station stops. (Useful if you need to ask anyone where the station is.)
When I used the app in Shanghai, the estimated times were spot on and the interactive map route was helpful since I started at a different station. I liked the app better than another "back up" metro app because it has zero pop up add. Space is key and I didn't like half my map space taken up by adverts.
This map also has a light blue designation for the river, which was important because looking at a basic subway map, I didn't know if I was on the correct side of Shanghai. This was a little feature that helped me navigate.
Highly recommend as a non Mandarin speaker to feel independent.
Wish list: 1. closure times for specific lines (I ended up taking a taxi at a station because the line closed at 10pm.) 2. quick tutorial on single issue ticket purchase and how to scan/ deposit ticket at entry and exit.

Best subway app around
I have used this app on both my iPhone and iPad for over two years. I find it indispensable when I am in Shanghai. It is clear, easy to use, and very stable. I wish all cities has the equivalent subway app!

The best transit apps available
I travel throughout Asia and the ExploreMetro Apps are the best apps I've found. They are very easy to read and use and the features are superb. The ability to flip back and forth between the metro map and the street map is fantastic and the Times, Tips, and route planning you can get at each station are first rate. Very impressive.

Great Tool!
As a former resident of the city and now a frequent visitor, the app keeps me up to date on all the latest changes to the Metro. It is especially important as I plan my activities in the city. It allows me to plan far in advance of my trips when I have plenty of time to relax thereby making my precious time in town more enjoyable.

Makes a great team with google maps
Excellent easy to use app. Gmaps often screws up or excludes metros in its directions in shanghai so this app is great paired with it. I often look up directions on gmaps, find the nearest subway and then use this app for a quick routing. Not a necessary app of course but it's well done and... What the heck just buy it it's the 21st century and you can have a digital map of the metro on your PHONE for 2 bucks!! Amazing times we live in.

Language Problems for Non-Chinese on a Chinese bought iPhone
If you can't read Chinese and you purchased your iPhone in China, you will be out of luck uses the feature that shows streets near the subway stops. That is my situation. For me, this greatly limits the usefulness of this app.

Getting around the subway in Shanghai
This application has been very helpful. The train map is current. So many of the maps you get with travel guides are outdated because of the subway systems continuous growth. I really like the street map or train map view. If you plan on traveling on the subway in Shanghai, this application will help you get around.
The only complaint I have is the the find my location button stopped working on my iPad.

Nothing special
As a Metro it is okay, and includes the times each line is open. But practically all the other functionality is dependent on an internet connection (despite the claims). For example, there is no offline map of the areas surrounding the stations (like the big display maps IN the stations). This could and should be stored locally. Here's a free alternative: Download the Transit Maps app, and then load the Shanghai Metro PDF map.

It's extremely helpful and easy to use for navigating Shanghai's massive subway system. However, the limitations of Google maps make the supporting street map function less helpful.
