Electronic Toolbox

This is the best all encompassing Electronics Tool ever made and all in one great app!! I’ve had this for years and with every new advancement in electronics and computer technology, amazingly this app is updated to include them. From Arduino to Raspberry Pi to ESP32 microControllers, to every component like ICs, transistors, resistors, capacitors, diodes, and even tubes, this app has it all! Tons of calculators for every application as well. I don’t believe there is another tool like this available anywhere. Also great value for the price!

So much better than $76 college workbooks

I’ve only been using this app for around 2 hours and I’ve learned more than I have in weeks from expensive college workbooks. It really is a great app with endless knowledge. If you’re hesitating because of the cost, don’t.

Amazon app. Simple and to the point. All the tools needed for simple projects. A++

This is an amazing app. It has all the basic tools needed for most basic jobs. Simple and to the point. Excellent for beginner or hobbyists. The price is excellent and it allows for other devices (up to three or five but forgot how many exactly ) to use the app without having to pay again. Thank you to the developer for making such a great app. It saves a lot time by having data sheets for components handy as well as resistor color code calculator and a whole bunch of goodies. I have yet to try the circuit simulator so I can’t comment on that one.
All in all, I highly recommend this app. A++ recommended. Thank you again to the developer for publishing and maintaining this app.

No circuit simulation, poor circuit editor

Be sure you understand what this app is and is not. It *is* a wealth of calculators and reference information, including access to parts info from the interweb. It is *NOT* an electronics design program, simulator or (really) circuit entry. The circuit entry is clumsy at best, and incomplete. You cannot take all those parts referenced and wire them into your circuit, much less simulate them. The “scope” just listens to microphone, it does *not* probe your circuit. Yes, you could wire your phone microphone to a circuit but for 22 kHz and risk overdriving the input?
So a tool for building a BOM, yes, for integrating BOM with circuit no, for simulating circuits? Absolutely not

Electronic toolbox

This app is extremely thorough!
Marcus is dedicated to updating with new data. Fixes faults quickly. I have a lot of other apps to use, and most are slow to fix faults or make them better.
Electronic toolbox is my go to app, I have yet to not find data that I needed in this app. It’s all there and gets better and more robust every day. The best money I ever spent on a app.
Thanks Marcus keep up the good work!!!!!!

Best app I've ever used!!

I've worked in electronics for over thirty years, this is the best app there is for electronics. Well organized and comprehensive, there's nothing else that comes close. Having this type of reference on my phone, within arms reach, is invaluable. I wouldn't go out in the field without this app. Great job!!

Don’t Bother With Any Of The Rest, This Is The Best!!

Like others who have recently posted reviews, I do not normally write them either. Only when 1) an app is really, REALLY excellent 2) I use it continuously- on a daily or near-daily basis 3) I have BEEN using it for a considerable period of time (at least a year usually) I.E. It has STOOD the TEST of TIME 4) Not an absolute requirement, BUT...it should have an excellent GUI, it should be easy to use and intuitive, regularly updated to take advantage of the latest Apple technology (iPhone and iPad display advancements, Apple A(x) chip capabilities, iOS code/GUI improvements, major new features such as the Retina display back in the day, screen touch sensitivity more recently, dual cameras (wide and tele), iPhone X TrueDepth, etc AND (5) The app should contain No...NO...NO....NOOO ADS, NO POP-UP CRAP that covers part of the screen and hence, part of the app GUI, NO LOCKED or GRAYED-OUT FEATURES with prompts to make in-app purchases in order to simply USE the features that are part of the app, especially sneaky stuff where you knew there were upgrades via in-app purchase, but you thought that you had access to the fundamental features which were what caught your interest in the first place and were the motivational factor behind making the purchase in the first place!
And I don’t want it to cost $0.99 just so that I will buy it, only to find out that this costs money, this other thing costs more money, such and such is only a partial version; the full thing is another $5.99 upgrade...and so on. That works for teenage girls looking for apps to make them look pretty when they take selfies and for wasting time and brain cells socializing on the intereb...but it’s not working for me.
But I digress...
The requirements I’ve listed are rarely fulfilled in their entirety in my 10+ years of iPhone life, and I can probably list on one hand all of the apps that I own which have nailed it completely.
1) SignalScope X by Faber Acoustical
2) iCircuit
3) MultitrackDAW (I’m a musician and recording engineer as well as an EE...)
4) Audiobus 2/3
5) This app. The Toolbox. The most comprehensive collection of data, calculators, formulas, datasheets, product lists, pinouts, connector types, part numbers, reference and cross-references, even access to/the ability to create orders for purchase through RS for example...and of course the actual working tools- the circuit editor, the multimeter and oscilloscope (combined with all of the information and calculators in the toolbox section). Impressive. And it goes on. I think it’s really cool the way the app is set up to be a constant guide and assistant when actually taking on a project in the real world. You have the tools/toolbox for reference and information, you have the circuit editor/meter/scope to do a little preparation and experimentation, and you have a whole purpose-made part of the app for making and saving Projects. I really like that and I like how it gives you a place to begin a new project (in real life or in simulation, doesn’t matter which), you can save and store pdf’s, image files, datasheets, circuit designs, schematics, all sorts of stuff. That is really cool. Well done Marcus.
And it is the truth that Marcus is constantly working on the app. Once every week or so I will launch it and find that there’s a new update, and I don’t see him deciding to quit working on it any time soon.
And the thing is I do have a whole bunch of other electronics related apps. So it’s not like I’ve just purchased this one and maybe one or two others and I only have a limited point of reference. No, in fact I’ve downloaded every free app related to electronics that exists on the App Store, I’ve purchased probably 90% of the ones that cost money, and the few that are left mostly have to do with some sort of specific thing like for example there is Oscium which is an oscilloscope program yes, but it requires hardware probes and an interface unit and those things cost hundreds of dollars. There’s no point in using the app unless you have that external hardware or if you’re demoing the software to see if you like it and might want to get the hardware. There’s a few others like that which require external hardware and then there’s also a bunch of apps which are ‘extensions’ of some specific piece of equipment. For example, a certain manufacturer of hardware oscilloscopes (very nice ones indeed) offers an iOS app as sort of a “companion” to the hardware. Quite useful, yes, but not required. And of course there’s absolutely zero point in downloading it if you don’t own one of those oscilloscopes. Both of my examples involve oscilloscopes but that was just by accident, there are “companion” apps as well as combo hardware/software (app) packages involving all sorts of things. My point is simply that if I haven’t tried it, it’s likely not even something useful to the masses. So I would say IMHO out of maybe 50 apps out there roughly, that deal with electronics, there are I think two which come close to being as good as this one, none that equal it, and not a one of them can better it. Not one. Which two come close? You’ll just have to wonder...
Ok enough dribble. Go and scroll up and down through these reviews. Literally NEARLY EVERY SINGLE REVIEW is not just positive but glowingly so. I was trying to find a negative review and it actually required me to scroll down and further down for a solid minute or two JUST TO FIND ONE.....AND...then when I do, it’s a guy saying that he’s bummed that the app doesn’t have a circuit editor. Ha! So that one doesn’t even count, I went back to scrolling down, finally found another one and it’s a dude saying that the app is freezing up on his such and such iPhone model. Marcus responds saying that he’s sorry about that and that the bug causing that has been fixed. Ha! So that one doesn’t have any relevance at this point. And it really wasn’t even negative, the guy was just having a problem.

Well-Organized, Easy to Use

This is an initial review after using briefly. The app is well-organized, easy to navigate and use. So far very useful, needed a resistor value checker. The one in this app is quite good.

Bestest electronic app ever.

When I bought this app , it had one page of tools . Look how it has grown up --- still growing too. Continuous updates and its creator does listen to feedback and suggestions .
Try it and like it .

Every Electronics Person Should Get This App!

Before I got this app, i sent the developer a email on whether you could design your own Circuit Schematics. They answered me back in less then 24 hours. I got the app. Went to go make a test Schematic, just to get the hang of it. I was blown away! It is better then I could have imagined!
They also have parts where you can solve the value of different components. For example, you can solve anywhere from a Resistor, to a Coil.
As a student doing online college to become a Electronics Technician, this app is a huge help! Glad I found it!
If you ever have a question, they answer it, and they do it quite quickly!
Whether you are a Student like me, or been in the Electronics industry for years, Electronic Toolbox Pro is a must for anyone who dose Electronics!
Glad I found this app! Thanks for making it Marcus Roskosch!

Seriously A Must Buy!

This app is worth way more than the$5-$6. It is so helpful. It’s smooth and gives you quick access to any and all the information you need for any component on the market. You can make schematics and the process is surprisingly easy and smooth. Best decision I have ever made for an app to buy.

I have had this app for a couple of years now, and I have to say the developer of this app keeps it up to date. This is everything needed for using electronics in DC,AC, and some Telecommunications. It is completely worth it.

Its missing a key feature.

No this app does not allow you to build a circuit and run a simulation of the circuit. You ask me thats a big deal! Thats the whole reason why someone who already knows about basic electrical engineering components would buy this app.

Great Help for the Beginning Learner

I recently attended an Arduino workshop and was looking for a way to document my projects. The beta version of the included Circuit Editor is much easier than some more expensive packages, like Eagle, and there is so much value in having board descriptions, pin layouts and other documentation that I rank this amount my best finds in the App Store.

Best Electronics Tool

This is by far the most in depth electronics tool that if have had to pleasure of using by far.
The developer is also still adding useful features to the app without asking for in-app purchases which to me makes the cost of the app worth every penny.
If you are new to electronics or a seasoned veteran this is the only electronics app you would ever need!

Convenient Practical for Hobbyists AND Engineers

Marcus has developed a great iPhone app for electronic hobbyists and engineers to have handy in your pocket. It provides handy reference to pinouts, specs, component markings, formulas, calculators, electronic related physics reference, on and on, in an easy to navigate and use format.
I use it to explore microcomputer chips, both pic and atmel, when beginning a project away from my computer and with a little time to kill while waiting for whatever.
Even when at my computer, it is great to look up this and that without having to radio-button back and forth between so many windows, or having to print something out just to refer to while I'm working.
Marcus has been updating and expanding this app for years now, and doesn't keep hitting his customers up to pay and pay for updates like some developers do, nor does he abandon the app when iOS requires compatibility updates.
If you are an active hobbyist or a napkin-doodling engineer, you will not regret purchasing this app!

Great tool!

I've been using this tool for about 4 years now and it has fulfilled all of my needs. Some of the greatest additional attributes are being able to use it without internet access, having great product support for the app, having the wide variety of tools included in this app; even the Raspberry Pi application is helping with my 10 year-olds' science fair project! It is also easy to navigate and easy to use.
Thanks again Marcus.

Electronic Engineer...

I am honestly amazed with this app quality. Marcus has done an excellent job in organizing the information and references in an intuitive way. The only drawback I faced is how to use the oscilloscope with my iPad (as I believe is embedded and there is not mic connector, it resembles me the one used in a well known toy used in schools to teach electronics to kids). Other than that is a really good app, nicely done. It deserves every penny invested on it.

It's like a gazillion apps in one. Well designed, albeit a little 90s-like in the graphics, this app has earned its stars. The developer seems to be very invested in this app as it is regularly updated.

I bought this app today and I think it was worth it. Very nicely designed. It has datasheets to me it wasn't that necessary to include them but it has it. Most useful formulas are included. I can see the developer spent so much time to make it look nice and simple. I hope more formulas and features will be added in the future. I will give 5 star. I like it.

Skookum as frig

Love this app so far. Handy quick reference that will help keep me from jumping down the rabbit hole that is the Internet. Has just about everything I would normally look up and open in 1000 tabs.
I especially like the Arduino reference as that is what my electronics hobby centers around.
The calculators are awesome as well. My favorite part is that they are easy to use and show you a lot of information. By that I mean the focus isn't to recreate the wheel with some over the top interface that looks pretty but doesn't have the content.
Worth the money. Would definitely recommend.
