I only wish it could record from the phone so I can listen to my voices of family when we are separated by long distance travel. This app is outstanding. It does everything its supposed to do without a hitch. I only wish it had more storage options. As it stand right now, the only option is iCloud which is fine, but I use Googledrive more often.

This app has allowed me to record numerous lectures and talks. It is the app to purchase. A very worthwhile investment.

Record you talking about things you can't imagine other people listening to. You'll end up deleting snapchat and facebook but you'll never delete this app.

It's great because it documents the time and the date of which the Apple recorder does not do.

Can't start the app after the newest update. Whenever I try to open it, it just crashes and sends me back to my home screen. Great app before this, hope it gets fixed.

This is a pathetic app. Very difficult to use and voice activated (paid add on) doesn't work. I've tried several times and it has failed me miserably. I want my money back please developer! Total waste of money. Don't make the same mistake as me.

This is one of my favorite apps. I do a lot of public speaking, so I record my practice sessions, and then I can play it back as a review, as well as a reminder if I haven't given the speech for a while. I've also used it to record lectures. It is truly an invaluable tool for my uses.

Just so you know this app does not export the file in a useful format such as .wav or .MP3

This app has been a lifesaver for me. I was having a hard time getting good audio recordings while motovloging. With this app I can record directly from my Bluetooth intercom system and easily export my audio to iMovie. Great app. Bravo.

Malfunctions and it does not work on Apple Watch. Not worth a cent.

Works well, good sound quality, more flexible features than built-in app and records in .wav format, which I need. The select multiple extension seems like a basic function that should be included, not a special add-on, but it's only $0.99. You really need to read the manual to see all the useful things it can do--there are things you won't figure out just by using the app.

As a musician I use this on a day-to-day basis to record ideas for songs and sometimes to find samples to use in post-production. I have been using this app for up to three, maybe four years and it hasn't presented any immediate problems that limit its functionality. As far as I know, it works.

The ability to save to Dropbox is crucial for me.

Fatal flaw causes memos to mysteriously disappear. Twice I've opened the app only to watch memos disappear before my eyes. Enormously frustrating. If Imesmart can't address this problem, I will be looking for another app.

I love the easy to use recording capabilities. Good quality capture with nice tools for amplification and quality sliders.

Hate the tool overlay that lives on the right side of the screen. It accidentally pops up all the time and opens the app in the background. There appears to be no way to turn it off, which is ridiculous. Who gave this app that much control of my iPad?

Hate the export functions. Too limited for people that don't have their own FTP to send files to. Works well if you sync with a computer and use the app tab to find the files you want and save them individually on your computer. Shouldn't be that difficult.

No longer allowing exporting of files to Google Drive or Drop Box. Gives error message. URL and audio folder export options also not working. Files usually too large for email.

I've been using for years and love the program, but it will become useless if the export options aren't fixed.

When I am using this app it will sometimes give me an error message stating that I cannot record phone calls. I am not trying to record a phone call but when this error message pops up it stops my recording! This happens randomly and it is driving me crazy! I spoke with their support and they have given me nothing but excuses!

This app is very easy to use. On a daily basis I'm using it more & more. To date there have been no problems with crashes, etc. I would strongly recommend it.

Audio Memos is a great re corder that pairs well with my iPhone. I use it regularly to record services, lectures, etc.

Using it for 3 years and have not lost a lecture in all that time

I LOVE this program for recording. My ONLY complaint is that it hides on the right side of my screen, by the backspace key when typing. It VERY OFTEN pops up when I am typing. It has popped up FOUR TIMES while I typed this review on my iPad!! I have looked thru the settings a couple of times and see no setting / option to turn this location off.

I HATE this and am considering removing the program. But, I do use the program so I would really miss it.

I was recording a vital conversation and when it was complete, I touched the narrow red banner at the top of my iPad screen to stop recording. My recording was not saved. There is no way to retrieve it. Happened once before. Dangerous and unreliable. No warning saying "Are you sure you don't want to save this recording?"

I purchased a $10 wireless Bluetooth phone earbud with microphone from my local big box store to use with this app for the Voice Activated, Record from Bluetooth Microphone feature. It works like a charm!

Great for note taking, recording a conversation, making a grocery list, or transcribing anything else.

I have it set to record automatically when app opens and when I hit done it compresses the voice note and attaches it to a new email. I would love a setting to set the default "TO" with my own email address.

This version will nor install properly on my Ipad 2...tried everything I know..can't even uninstall it. Buyer beware!

App says update in store but won't download. I've restarted the iPad Air 128G with no luck. The only thing I can think of is to delete and reinstall. But don't want to lose my recordings. Please help! Thx

I regularly record songs and voice memos on my phone, and this app makes it extremely easy to send them to my computer for editing or saving. It has so many great features, and being able to lock it with a passcode or TouchID is a huge plus.

If you need a great app for quick recordings that's better than the stock Voice Memo app and very simple to use, buy this or get its try free version!

Does not affect my music playback when opening and using this app… That's the most important aspect of it… Other voice memo apps will open up and disrupt the continuity of your music app playback so that when you're done recording, you don't know where you left off. This one handles it okay. The only thing I don't like is that it would be great to be able to send voice memos via not only email but also via text message. Additionally, why is "record" at the very bottom middle but "stop" is at the very top right?????? And it would be great to have a more graphic UI instead of textual record and stop labels placed so far apart.

I'm not sure where the negative reviews are coming from, as I used the free version for two years and never had a problem recording or offloading recordings via the built-in mini web server. I like this app so much I finally decided to buy the paid version JUST so I could see what additional options it has (as the free version did everything I needed it to do). So far, the options in the paid app seem quite useful. So, take the negative reviews with a grain of salt and try the free version for yourself. If you like it, buy it.

Although syncing to iCloud drive was reasonably quick, syncing between my iPhone and iPad was NOT reliable. Hence the downgrade from 4 to 2 stars. I have since moved on to a dropbox-based app, Dropbox Recorder for Dropbox, but am crossing my fingers for an update to this app that will fix the sync problem.

I really like this app more than any of the other voice recording apps out there... Simple, easy-to-use interface AND highly customizable (from naming schemes to sort order to bluetooth access). The killer feature for me was integration with iCloud drive - so that I can make a quick recording on my iPhone and then later listen to it on my Mac (perfect for recording todos which I later create as tasks).

Thank you to the tech support team for their guidance. Along with their suggestions, I also reloaded the app, restarted the iPhone and re-paired the headset and everything is working really well. I really appreciate the options that this app provides! Back to the 5 star rating you deserve.

Original posting "Somewhere along the line this app has lost the ability to play the recording through my bluetooth headset. The recording works. There also seems to be an unusual lag between the record button being pushed and the start of the recording. Then, with no headset attached the same lag occurs before a recording starts to play. iPhone 6 with 9.0.3"

My first on the list to use of the 3-4 recorders i use. One feature i love is that it can record from other apps, say a recording playing on Safari. I would like that feature to be better implemented - switching from the recording to the recorder- to take advantage of it. Very useful and practical. Right now it is cumbersome and not well known!

I have many uses for it like recording audio from a playing video on the iPad.

I liked this app because of the ease of use and multiple options but I am now on the market for a new voice recording app after Audio Memos "pretended" to record a 90-min conversation but in fact only got 18mins. I kept the screen active the entire time and watched the green bar react to our voices while the counter ticked away the minutes. All indicators that it was actually working. I paused it once around the 20-min mark and then resumed recording - all signs previously mentioned were still there. When the discussion was over I had a monstrously large 350Mb file....that was only 18mins long 😐 instead of the 1h26m that we had been speaking. I'm extremely disappointed in this app. If I can't even tell when it isn't recording properly then I need to search elsewhere for a voice memo app.

This app stands waiting for whenever a musical idea hits me, start it up and bingo! it's captured for later development. It is simple and saves by default. No more lost ideas because without my glasses I didn't know to press any additional 'save' button after recording. This app lets you record it and delete it if it isn't what you want. This app also handles other files and plays well with the operating system.

Really? Extra $0.99 for multiple selection? If you charged $2.99 for everything I would buy it but another $9.99 for some really basic stuff is absurd. Sure, great app with cool features that does the job well but this in-app purchasing is out of control. Also, crashes a lot. I check the levels maybe every 10 minutes due to habit probably and it's so annoying when it freezes and crashes in the middle of important stuff. I have other apps closed as well.

This app has blown me away with its features and quality. At first, I thought "that's cool" when I stumbled onto a feature or two. As I dug into it more and more, I found I was looking at the tip of the iceberg. There is so much built into this app.

My wife and I have recorded meetings of 60-80 people (with prior approval) by simply placing our iPhone or iPad under our chair and the recording is just like you're there. People speaking right next to us or across the room were crystal clear and the voice level was relatively constant.

A downside might be the learning curve. There is a video and a users manual but it is a bit overwhelming to get your arms around. (We needed a couple of optional features and bought the full version as it was so reasonably priced). If you need an audio recorder (not everyone does), you can't go wrong with Audio Memos. The base model will probably meet your basic needs.

Clearly states in the help file "You can also specify a starting and a stopping date and time that will initialize the timer." In order to use this function the app must be the front app, effectively disabling the iPhone for any other purpose. It is really just an auto calculation for the start timer. And you would have to disable auto-lock. I feel that I was misled as to the capability. I expected the same functionality as setting an alarm in Alarm Clock for a specific date and time and then rather than an alarm going off a recording would start.

I LOVE this app! I use it every week to record professional sounding audio of my lectures and even some sound recording for videos. It is reliable, has tons of features, and is very stable. It really is THE audio recording app to buy in the entire app store.

The built in mic on your iPad or IPhone will only produce a ho-hum result, but adding a professional quality mic can give you, maybe not studio quality, but very excellent quality results, at least for spoken audio.

That being said, I do wish that it had a two more features or minor changes.

1) It kind of bothers me that after paying for a pro version I still have to pay for certain upgrades, but the upgrades that are worth it to me - I have not regretted purchasing them.

2) I wish that there was a way to mix the recording using an equalizer or just some basic recording knobs (lo, lo mid, high mid, and high). This would allow me to adapt the sound recording to get a good bottom end or high end on the mix, depending on the situation.

Honestly one of the best apps out there for recording (I've tried and bought so many). The only option I would like to see added (I've bought all the in app purchases...because c'mon, cheap relative to a stand alone device) is the ability to play something and record another section on top (say for harmony in songs). But either way, still the best app out there for recording. Keep up the good work!!

In spite of what another review has said, I think the quality is quite good. It has worked every time, and I can hear everything clearly upon playback. My biggest frustration is how difficult it is to send the recordings off the iPad. I would like to send them to my computer for transcription and upgraded in order to do so. It still doesn't work all that well. In spite of this annoyance, it is a great app, and I use it all the time. I would definitely purchase it again.

Great feature set, even if it is a bit expensive. However, the recording quality is sub-par and disappointing, particularly compared to some other free recording apps. Additionally, the best quality setting creates massive file sizes. You can convert them to AAC to reduce the size, but the extra step is annoying.

Still, even at the lowest quality setting, which you'd only use to conserve disk space, produces usable audio, though you're not going to want to broadcast it. Also, the ability to protect my recordings with a passcode, and flag them with a position marker is a huge plus for me. Those features are worth the price to me, but this app still has a lot to improve on.

I have the lame 8o'clock am class that I'm always half asleep in and thanks to an app that allows me to adjust the gain and what not I can sit in the back and snooze and still be able to play back the recording and actually hear him like I'm up front!

I just wish I could figure out how to email the recordings because when absent and asking for notes people expect the same from you and I'd love to be able to send the recorded lecture to them as well but it says the files to large.

But overall a great app. & totally worth the $

I've seen a lot of bad reviews on this but I've had nothing but success. I set the files so that they auto split and I'm able to keep them small enough to send via email. Also, if you loose you purchases after an upgrade, try to use the "restore" feature. It a shame that an app gets bad ratings because people might not know how in-app purchases work. I've been very happy with the quality too. No real need for a microphone.

Update - love this app so much I tried to review it again and realized I already reviewed it once. Great job guys! Oh and the person that had the problem with sending through email: sending through email has a limitation not by the app but by the email. Purchase the auto split extension and split at 15 min for it to work with gmail. Don't know about other email services but gmail has 20mb limitation on attachments. Also if you buy a recorder you are going to have to connect it to the computer to get your files right? You can that with your iPhone too except iTunes sharing works over wifi and I'm sure the recorder does not. You also have the option of using auto upload to Dropbox, iCloud (which you can email links to), FTP, WebDAV. You can buy all extensions for 10 dollars. So again, why would you spend 100 dollars or more on a recorder that doesn't do all that this app does? Please do yourself a favor and don't get frustrated because of some perceived challenge. Read the instructions :)

Please note that for the .99 you get nothing more, in fact less, than the already built in voice memo the iPhone provides you. If you would like to do any of the things promised in the description you will end up paying anywhere from an additional .99 to 4.99 per option. You want to be able to email it, .99. You want to be able to crop it, .99. You want to be able to insert an additional audio to an already existing audio, 4.99. The list goes on and on. If you want to be able to do everything they say it does, expect to spend about $15. The way they set up their description of what's included and what is available for an additional charge is extremely misleading. Some would say fraudulent.

DO NOT BUY! Firstly, the options do not allow me to give this app less than four stars. After using the free version, which I was impressed with, I bought this app and have been using every week to record at choir rehearsals. I have always been able to pause and resume recording. Now that feature has gone and only After I read other reviews, I realized that this is a ploy. I can no longer pause and resume. It's either. I overwrite or I have to start a new recording, and that defeats the purpose. I will buy another app.

I really like this app and use it often, especially for the handy "Voice Activated" function.

I was concerned about the switch to in-app purchases after having already paid for the full version, but found I was able to restore all the additional functionality within the app. Some reviewers are making a lot of noise about this: I suggest they try out the "restore previous purchases" button to see if that doesn't solve their problem.

Now if only I could find a reliable and economic Voice-to-Text converter, like Google Voice.....

I am extremely disappointed about what the Audio Memo development team has done to its customers. To me, they have miss-represented their product and deceived customers. I will be opening a case with Apple and hopefully get their license to sell through iTunes revoked.

One of two things happened and i don't know which one is worst. That Audio Memo advertised a product with certain features but are not completely transparent with the customers letting them know that some of those features are "trials" and will expire at a certain point in time? Or that Audio Memo sells its product with those features, then changed its mind releasing a new version, which everyone is going to download, only to find out that some of the features that actually made a determining factor on you choosing this product have been removed without letting you know and that you have to pay more money if you want them?

if younare reading these comments.... DO NOT buy this product. They have actually removed features of the product that were originally in the paid version. There is no telling what they would do going forward to get you to buy the product only to come back at a later time and update it with one that has less features...

Like many here, I lost functionality during the update to the new version. However, the recommended "restore" function didn't solve the problem.

More generally, I take issue with in-app sale of functionality that users would assume is built into the app. Having to pay extra to select multiple memos is absurd. This tactic serves to hide the true cost of the app and trick users into incremental purchases once they've already invested money. The numbers are small enough that one can stop using the app without too much monetary remorse, but the tactic makes me distrust the developers and not want to support them.

Ok, where did the AAC file format go? Either the install went bonkers and the app isn't working correctly or the only file type is wav? I've been using this app every day for a semester to record college classes and what I ended up with today after updating this morning are HUGE files that are stuck on my phone. Can't convert to AAC, can't send them to Dropbox, can't export to Mac, no option to even use iCloud (which is part of the update, right? and yes, the phone and mac are on same wireless network and it doesn't work). Seriously? And I can't say this is directly attributable to the update but my battery is down to 34% when by the end of the day I'm usually in the upper 70's. Bad. Boo hiss & finger wag.

Cool features and ideas with app, but some critical key functionality problems. Specifically, the pause and record buttons are right next to the time line (or it's just buggy) and it's too easy to rewind and overwrite recorded audio, even when there are already notes attached to certain times. There was no warning when the last hour of three in my recording was just thrown away and overwritten.

To make matters worse, the pictures and notes from now "unrecorded" times are inaccessible. Hopefully I can access them when I record white noise to fill the missing hour.

My rating is harsh, but this app is supposed to record memos and when recordings are inadvertently lost and/or overwritten because of poor design and bugs, the app is critically deficient and does deliver what it advertises.

My suggestion is to make sure nothing recorded is so easily deleted. If you are recording long stretches of time in a meeting, when would you ever want to just throw an hour of recorded time all away when just pausing? Why is there even a feature to rewind and overwrite? Not well thought through.

UPDATE: I just contacted support and received a very fast response. The issue is related to iCloud and will be fixed in the next update. I will just Be turning iCloud off until then.

I was using this app for interviews. I would start a recording in Audio Memos then switch between a note taking app and my interview schedule, with the recording still going on in the background. When I switch back to Audio Memos to check the length of the recording, it would crash and end the recording. This is a big problem, but the app works fine for me as long as I'm not switching between other apps.

The developer provides a basic app at a modest price, with opportunities for elaborations at additional cost. I expect the basic version will more than satisfy the needs of most users. The main function, to record, label, and play messages, is completely transparent. Additional functionality, such as setting markers in a message, copying excerpts, or merging multiple messages, require more attention --- don't overlook the excellent user guide. In all, a very fine productivity aid.

I use this app for recording lectures in grad school & the quality is good. You cannot email large files though, but I just listen to it on my iPad. It helps when I can't seem to keep up with the note taking in class & prevents me from missing something important. It is also another form of studying by listening to the lecture again. It is a little difficult to control "rewinding or fast forwarding" the recording as it jumps too much.

I'm not concerned that you have to buy extensions to expand this app but it doesn't have the the feature I want. I want my memo app to start recording on launch. This is the only memo app I've seems that starts recording when it detects audio but you still have to press record to start the process. I like how you can use the Bluetooth mic so it works with my car stereo. I ultimately want a great hands free experience in my car for audio notes. I still haven't found it.

This used to be my favorite app, until I just got the new software update for it about a month or 2 ago. It used to be such good quality recordings, but now ever since I got that software update, it turned all of my old recordings into horrible crappy quality and it distorts the sound so much it's atrocious!! same thing happens with every new recording I make. It still distorts the sound even though i have it on the highest quality sound setting. I don't know if this distortion is solely an issue with the new software or if it has anything to do with the fact that my phone is starting to run out of memory storage.

This version seems to do everything the FREE version does except upload. I thought it would be worth buying, so I could use on my iPad and iPhone. However, after buying this version from my iPad, running iOS 4.2, I find that it doesn't run on iOS 4.1, which is what's on my iPhone. It looks like I'm stuck with the free version on the iPhone which defeats half the purpose of me buying the app. I also find it a little deceiving that you must pay for each and every optional "add-on". Make the paid version backwards compatible to iOS 4.1 and I'll rate higher.

So far this is one of the handiest apps I've had. Quick to begin recording, pause and continue recording, 2-finger-double-touch gesture to start and stop recording or playback, rewind and fast-forward along with markers and scrubbing, easy naming of files even while they're being recorded, timer, trimming and merging, and all is accessible with VoiceOver Screen reader. Compression is slow, but I can live with that for now. Thanks much for a tool that's useful in many ways, and very accessible!

I got the full version of this application to record lecture audio in my college science classes. The application worked fine until iOS 5, now it can't make it through a 50 minute lecture without crashing and leaving me with the choice of ignoring lecture to get software working or just not recording anymore for that class.

I would try to reinstall the application, but the lectures I have successfully recorded are still in the iPad. This brings me to my second problem. Ever since iOS 5 and iCloud, Audio Memos crashes every time I try to sync it with iTunes and get the files out.

I need these recordings. I did not spend $13 on one application for recreational purposes. Its a shame you can't return applications or get your money back.

I tried a few other apps, but none of them quite hit the sweet spot that I was looking for. But this one hit everything and then some! It can record with a gain control, you can have it automatically upload to your Dropbox or other server (great for worry-free backup), it can take pictures and record notes associated with every audio recording. This app has it all! Well worth the money.

This app was working well before but the iOS 5 update changed everything! It's funny that I lost my recordings and some of them just showed up after a week. I can not see my files in my iTunes so that I can make a copy or transfer. Those recordings that were lost and showed up were seriously damaged files and when played, there is a gap with no audio while it is playing then the audio starts then no audio then...... The app crashes a lot! No support for using earphone so you only have to use the iPhone speaker. There is no support so once you have a problem, you can't do anything with it. I am no longer using this app! I use the built in iPhone voice recorder!

The engineers of this app must never have written an audio app before. The voice activated recorder cuts off the first 1/4 second of sound. That may sound trivial but it is completely annoying and unnecessary. It sounds like a mechanical tape recorder dictation machine from the 1970's. I recorded myself saying "testing 123" and the playback sounds like "...esting 123 ...sting 123". Its even more annoying because this feature requires an additional in-app purchase for an extra $1. Buffering the audio stream and saving the stream from the time BEFORE the audio level triggered recording is a trivial feature... The high speed playback is also lame and smells like 1970's tape technology. It merely speeds up without correcting for pitch. As a result peoples voices sound like chipmunks. While audio timescale-pitch modification might be a bit more sophisticated than a simple buffered audio activated recording switch, it is not cutting edge DSP science. Including a high-peed playback feature that makes a meeting sound like a conversation of chipmunks is useless and pointless. Again, this "feature" costs extra, adding insult to injury... or would that be the other way around?

I have owned and used the app for over a year to record class lectures. The app is superb at recording lectures and I especially liked the voice initiated recording and bookmarking features. These features plus many more are only available through the in app extensions.

Over the summer I didn't need the app but I downloaded the update. The first day of class I launched the app and to my dismay I find a very basic voice recording app that had no extension and thus none of the features I paid extra for when I originally bought the app. I'm not sure why this has happened but it needs to be squared away and quickly.

The worst part is that I recommended this app to several of my peers that own iPads. Let's just say, I want to somehow receive an update that allows me to utilize all of the app's extensions as before. This should be free since no other app I have has ever charged for an update or deleted extensions that I paid for and asked for me to repurchase them. Otherwise, I will delete the app, find another voice recording app to spend money on, and warn peers of this app and the company's business practices.

Awesome app! And with this update, after you re-purchase all the content that you already previously paid for, it's like you've bought it 3 times! What better way to show that you appreciate an app? I'm impressed by the clever new take on free updates. Most developers would add new features as in-app purchase options. Ingenious to make us pay again for the SAME features, under the guise of a FREE update! Hahaha! Ouch.

I have only tested the app so far but was pretty impressed with the sound sensitivity. I was sitting on our screened porch and recorded the birds off in the distance and even the crickets later that evening. I did notice a substantial roar in the recording. It may have been the setting that I applied because you can adjust the quality and volume for your recordings. I turned off the porch ceiling fan and while that seemed to eliminate a little bit of the background noise, there was still quite a bit of background noise remaining. All in all, for .$99 + tax, it appears to be well worth the money if you are wanting to use it for recording memos or possibly meetings.

I was looking for a tool to record a week-long workshop for future reference. My colleague had a $500 professional dedicated voice recorder that recorded onto SD memory cards. Audio Memo 2 was more effective that that!

First, the sound quality is perfectly acceptable. It's voice. No problems, even from a distance.

Second, do yourself a favor and download all of the extensions.

Here is why: many times during the week, I was able to clip

a short piece from a longer (say, 90 minute recording), convert it to aac (mp3) format, and email it to a colleague on the spot.

The in-app conversions turn a 100megabyte wav file into a 10mb emailable mp3.

The bookmarks are brilliant. I used them all week. You can type in what was said at a certain point for quick and easy reference later.

I've even uploaded the converted files to an FTP server (but it could have been dropbox or or MobileMe) for sharing with the rest of the group.

In all, a stunning value for $11 and far exceeds dedicated $500 devices.

Just downloaded this app, and so far seems right one with the rest of the reviews; works as advertised. I'm at a seminar all this week, so will update this review after testing it out more.

REQUEST: As the app can continue to record once into Sleep Mode, please add an option that allows the app to do it in a "stealth" mode... ie, when somebody turns the iPad on, i'd prefer if it doesn't show that bright red bar with the "Audio Recording" indicator. ie, please give us the option to make it a very discreet indicator, or possibly not even exist at all... u'd just have to re-open the app to confirm it's still recording.

They haven't said we can't record. If they haven't officially and expressly forbidden it, I don't want to ask because most of the time anybody who doesn't know the real answer is likely to default to a 'no' answer.... then find out the real answer later (by which time i would have lost recording time).

I am using this in a possibly unusual way. I want to record any dreams I remember. But if I wake up, turn on lights, fumble for glasses, write or type - it's too much. That would wake me up too much and in the process I would forget the dreams (and I have inception-like dreams within dreams). So I use Audio Memos (upgraded to version 2 for Dropbox) and put my charging iPad in a dock near my bed, I set the app to perform a voice activated recording, and low threshold. So now when I wake up, I simply dictate. In the morning, I have a 5-8 minute sound file, because one of the other things I learned is that I snore about 5 minutes a night.

I've needed help from their tech support twice, and in both cases they satisfied my request within a day.

This is a nice application for recording memos and longer events like meetings. You can do more than with Apple's built in app, Voice Memos. I like being able to purchase separate extensions, I can have the functions that I want (Trim Recordings, Use Bookmarks and Voice Activation) and not have the app cluttered up with other functions that I will never use.

I recently bought two Sony digital recorders, one for around $100 and the other for about $50. The functionality of this app is comparable, so I think the price I paid ($.99 + 3 extensions for $.99 = $3.96) is very reasonable.

The app is fairly intuitive to use, but I found reading the on-line manual to be very helpful, although it is somewhat confusing until you realize that the manual is describing all possible extensions, many of which you may not have.

This app promises many features after upgrading to the paid version. Not so. After upgrading to the only paid version of this app at the appstore all except one promised features are available at extra costs per feature as "extensions," apparently not available at the store. There are major anomalies in the interface. In the settings section I set the quality to the highest (assuming a higher sampling rate) yet when recording, the slider on the main panel is constantly set to "lowest." No details are offered as to the actual sampling rate. Another "feature" is stereo recording which seems to indicate that the ipad has a stereo microphone - I don't think so. I plan no further upgrade or purchasing "extensions." There are many audio recording apps out there and perhaps I can find one whose ads are a more honest.

You may end up in frustration, if you purchase this app only by looking at the features. Cheat notes are at the bottom of the description. You need to make an in app purchase to use the lot of features that are mentioned in the description. I may give more stars if they are honest and mention what features are free and what need to be paid. Two stars, because they have atleast mentioned in some place. If you are willing to pay another $9.99 for all those features go ahead an buy. But i believe that there are lot of apps for lower price with more features. I'm about to call apple for refund.

The app works very well and the playback is excellent. The only problem is that you can't simply sync your recordings to your iTunes. When I hook up my phone to the computer, you can't find any of the recordings from Audio Memos 2.74. there needs to be a user friendly way to get your Audio memos 2.74 recordings off of the phone and onto the computer. no need for super geeky ways to email or upload to a server. just simply hook up the phone to the computer and upload!!! Can you make that happen IMESART on your next app update ?

This app has saved me a lot of headaches. I can upload my voice critiques of my student's work directly to my computer and then post them to the web. The preferences are great, and save a lot of hand work for repeat uploads to ftp or dropbox. The "all extensions" package was the way to go for me. Only downside is that under many recordings and uploads to dropbox, battery gets drained pretty fast. Great Job on the app.

This app is seems to run reasonably well. However, if you are frustrated with paying extra for all the additional features you thought were included, then you should try Smart Recorder. For the single price of $2.99, you get everything, auto pause, time based tags and multiple speed playback as well as many other features. In the interest of fair disclosure, I should mention that I am the developer of Smart Recorder so, of course, I recommend it.

I looked at a lot of apps. All of the ones I saw send voice as .m4a or .caf. None of those sync with my secretary's Olympus dictation equipment. This can send the file as a .wav which my secretary's Olympus software (with attached foot pedals) will recognize. All she has to do is import the file from email to her software. So now when I travel I can leave the recorder at home. Email capability only costs .99, so it's a great deal. Sound quality is great.

Only con is it only works in landscape mode. Mic is at top of iPad, so recording is awkward. Great app for dictation to email.
