I first had this game on my first smartphone (a Palm Pre Plus), and I'm still playing it years later. Hope it's updated to 64 bit to be compatible with newer phones!

Favorite iOS game
To this day, this is my favorite iOS game. The play style is simple yet challenging and there are silly back and forth chats with the hero and antagonist. 8/8

One of the Best Games known to iOS.. Classic and a good memory
iOS has had many great games... This one was a smash hit I played when I was just 5 years old. This would be as in my top list on iOS top 1 out of 10 great hits. I loved this game as a little kid. If I didn't have a retro future style game like this as a little kid. Mobile games would've never been the same to me. This really changed my idea of iOS gaming. Even though it's old... Just give it a try who hasn't before. 5 stars forever...

BEST GAME EVER IN MY OPINION!
This game is my favorite app game! U have the chance to costumize your ship with the weapons you want to play with! This game is similar to the old school Galaxy Atari games back in the days! Brings alot of memories! And also the story is great and the colors are fantastic! Easy to play and awesome enemies! Must get!

Amazing
Should make a new storyline for girls, although I am a guy.
This game is very addicting and is highly recommended. Lots of levels and the story is very intense and adventurous. So much fun.
The normal and hard modes are difficult because I can't save, but it makes the game more interesting. Play easy if you wanna save the game and keep reading the story.
Favorite gun is the light blue weapon. It goes everywhere. Very useful.
Hard to hit with the red laser though. Is it possible to break the largest asteroids? I tried and couldn't do it.
Good luck trying to find a more addicting game!

This game is fantastic.
I made sure to play through the whole thing, in easy, and it sure took me a few days. The story is funny, interesting, and crazy. Though, I do recommend you know there are some language in this game so parents be warned. Still, the gameplay is smooth and it has a lot ogre play value.

Nice retro-gaming action
Basically an old school shooter like Galaxian or Galaga with power ups and boss fights. Also has occassional conversations between the player and the enemy to help things move along. Overall, one of my favorite games.

It's one of my favorite games. My kids like it, too. Very challenging, or you can play "casual mode" and you keep coming back. But it won't open since I updated to iOS8 on my iphone4. I'm still giving it 5 stars, but how else can I tell them it's not working? update: fixed, thanks, folks! And, the HD version works on my iPad2 again.

I've seen my friends playing this and it looks really fun but when I tried to download and play it the game won't load, and I have a fairly new iPhone 5s. Maybe it's the new iOS update, or something else but you may want to check that out and fix it.

Outstanding
This game captured my attention with a mix of 8-Bit Space Invaders style aliens mixed with bright and flashy colors. The gameplay itself is really fun. Cool and intuitive controls make nailing alien scum a "blast" so to speak. I was surprised to find that the story was really captivating, and was what ultimately stuck with me after I beat it, and led me to go back through old apps and give it a second playthrough. All around a solid game, easily worth the price. I'd recommend it for anybody!

Surprisingly good and lengthy; great value!
I initially purchased this game because it looked like a Space Invaders fix. However, it proved to be a lot deeper, more challenging, and fun. The addition of a "storyline", seemingly nominal move, actually really enhanced my interest in this game, particularly how it built up upcoming bosses, which graphically were cool and sometimes very challenging. Great game!

This game is outstanding! Thanks to its super intuitive control and limited aliens to blast the game starts off pretty easy. It will quickly have you hooked as the clever (and humorous) story starts to unfold. The pace at which you upgrade your weapons aligns perfectly with the increasing difficulty. The visuals are stunning on my iPhone 5s, and the music and sound effects set the perfect mood. This game is perfect; it can serve as a quick way to kill time and it's also a great choice for long sessions. Also there's lots of replay value since you can't wait to max out a different weapon (there are several) each time you play. This is one of my top 5 favorite mobile games of all time. I don't write many reviews but this game gets a glowing one. Also it's easily worth all 99 pennies, and you won't find any trace of an advertisement. Can't say enough about this game, it's a must have.

Fun game but....
You need to be able to keep weapon upgrades when going from one story to the next also, when starting a storyline over after completing it. Is impossible to have every weapon upgraded to max in one play through.

Nostalgic feel Game with Modern Ambiance and Graphics
This game has excellent ambiance combined with wispy SFX to give it an "All Alone" and "Deep Space" (well you ARE in deep space...) feel. If a sequel is ever made, I suggest more types of levels but keeping everything else the same. More power ups and weapons would be nice too. Power ups should be more common and weapons should have certain perks for each. Do not take this as an excuse not to get this game though, whoever made this game is on the right track. Keep it up......sequel please?...

Cool game
Got this as a free download and it's one of my favorite iphone games. A few things: If you play through all the chapters consecutively you should be able to keep the weapons you have already upgraded instead of giving a you a few credits to upgrade at the start of each chapter. And add some more levels.

I love this app but I have 1 small suggestion for 5 stars. Can you please add an option to tilt left to move left an tilt right to move right. If you do that you can have the whole screen to see and shoot without your thumbs in the way. Thanks

Good gameplay
Luv it soo much on my iPod 5. A few probs though. The storyline has a little bit too much profanity (always a nono) the widening of the screen didn't widen the movement of the bosses (I think) so it was too easy. But instead of fixing that just make a new one. Great storyline btw.

GREAT GAME!
Always been one of my favorite games, even better with iPhone 5 support plus retina display! WOW! Looks way better, plays smoothly, the longer playing field is like a new experience! You guys really need to add more modes in the future or add a new storyline, even if its available via an in-app purchase, I'd buy them!

Great at first but gets boring.
While there is no doubt in my mind that this is a great game, I think many things could be done to improve it. The first levels and boss in the invasion are the best, but are ruined by the fact that once you buy and fully upgrade the disruptor lasers, the levels become extremely easy and not fun at all. Also I would say that it would probably be good to change the name of the second- hardest game setting from "survival" to something that is not usually used to define a level in a game where the protagonist must survive several waves with increasing amounts of enemies.
Other improvements:
•Add optional gyroscope control
•More guns/ upgrades for existing guns
•More noticeable changes in difficulty between "casual" and "survival"
•#Walker-alpha: the level transitions should also be improved, maybe like at the beginning of "The Future" except with better guns.

Favorite Game
My favorite game on my iPod touch. Simple, fun and challenging after a while, it is simply just one of the greatest games out there. Gameplay at the beginning could be a tad faster, and a level select of the levels you've beaten so you don't have to start from the beginning every time wouldn't be a bad idea. Also, multiple kinds of controls to choose from in the options menu, so you can select from your favorite kind. I personally love the controls as they are, but I've seen reviews that want controls like one with a joystick or the ability to tilt to move and touch to shoot, etc. I honestly believe that this app can be one of the best games in the app store. FIVE STARS :D

Fun Game That's Worth The Price
Retro Space Shooter that is part Space Invaders with bosses and part Asteroids with a story tying them together. The controls are simple, but take a little getting used to. The trancey electronica music fits nicely. The 1st & 2nd "expansions" reset your weapon upgrades so you can experiment with different builds. If you like retro done well, you'll get 5 or 6 hours of fun out if this game. Minus 1 star for script editing mistakes...

I was hoping someone made a Galaga app because that's what I was originally looking for, but I found this instead...and it's AWESOME! The sounds and game play a very well done and it's only $.99 so it really doesn't leave you an excuse not to try it lol.
P.S. I did find a Galaga game, made by Namco, and it's not nearly as good as this!

Incredible!
This game mixes incredible simplicity with the right amount of difficulty perfectly. If I could make one suggestion, it would be this. When you pause the game and you are in the corner of the screen, the weapons to one side of you cannot be changed, preventing you from choosing the, for example, smart gun when you're in the right corner. Besides this small detail, the game is flawless.

Worth 10 stars, not five
I think this is one of the best games out there if not the best. Great story line and well timed humor. The person that voted V down there with only one star is a hater and probally a game designer, being very jealous about this game.
Some of the things I would work on:
Make more weapons/upgrades/levels. The game would be great if you do that.
Think about adding armor/other ships. Make a little more variety of this, so that the game can get harder too.

Die alien scum!
You have no idea how addicted I am to this game. In a positive way! I was excited when I got some free time so I could destroy the next boss! The music is magnificent, graphics top-notch, references to galaga/galaxian perfectly understood, and there is no other game that compares to how spectacular and impressive this game is. Well done Hexage, well done. I dont care if I had to lose my weapons when I beat the game, I had way to much fun to care. I got it when it was free, but I would pay the 99 cents. WORTH YOUR MONEY.

fun retro game
I am a fan of 80's style arcade games. This one is really fun. The graphics are nice - the style really fits the games.
The only suggestions I have to offer would be a way to control when the ship fires. It'd be nice to have a toggle for automatic or a virtual button. Minor gripe though - highly recommended game for Galaga and Galaxian fans.

Keep the Weapons Upgrade...
3 Stars, why? When I upgraded the weapons and when I beat the game and start new game with increase difficulty or next new unlocked stage/level, I have to start upgrading all over again which can be a extremely pain. I would love if I get to keep the upgrades or can give an option to keep them for new game or not? Otherwise, the game is great!

A simple nostalgic space shooter with surprising/subtle strategy: use the money you earn to buy many types of weapons or make a basic selection really powerful?
Hint: some levels are impossible (for me) to beat without powerful weapons that do a better job *clearing* asteroids out the way or more quickly dealing with alien rigs like Cruncher. Maybe I need to try other weapons here?
When you're looking for a simple escape, this is a great pick!

An excellent game, with great writing.
I loved this game. I've played all the way through it about 3 times now, just to try out the different weapons. It may be a relatively simple Space Invaders/Galaga remake, but the well written and humorous storyline elevated it to a new level. The graphics have a beautiful simplicity, and I really like how the sound effects were designed to fit right in to the tonality of the music. The gameplay is simple, just basically controlling left/right, but it's very responsive and actually elegant in it's simplicity.
The only downside is that I imagine the game will lose some of its replay value once I finish experimenting with all weapons.

Good concept, glaring flaws
This game combines a lot of good elements, and feels like you're playing a nostalgic mix of Galaga and Asteroids, with the added bonus of upgradable weapons. How could that go wrong? But, unfortunately, the creators have embedded some flaws that prevent this from being a 'great', and actually make it pretty close to 'unplayable'.
The story exists to build the nostalgia and apparently explain why this is a shooter where you actually never shoot. The 'mindlessly firing forward' concept is fun in easier levels, but makes failure annoying because skill is overcome by luck, or the lack of. This is especially obvious in the later asteroid levels, which is where the game has ended for me, after a couple hours of trying to get a lucky run through one in the 'future'.
I'm done with this for now, but I won't uninstall just yet. Hopefully the creator of this impressive flop will fix the flaws, and make this the five star game it deserves to be.

Best one so far
Ive been playing space shoot 'em up all my life including many trials and expensive apps. This one is what everyone wants, same entertainment value and feel of the original arcade, as best as it can be adapted for iPhone. I completed all levels and now im at it again trying to get my name in the score letterboard.

Just great...
The game is great in all ways. Yeah the ending is "lame," but I like a twist here and there. I agree with the ones that are saying the game is challenging enough, but not too much to the point u can't get through it. For the ones that can't get through the asteroids, upgrade the laser to atleast 8... I was level 10 and basically blasted thru them. Great game, and loads real quick too! Worth 99cents

Amazing game except...
This was an awesome Space Invaders style game which was really fun to play. My only complaint would be the ending, I mean come on! You go through all those levels battling aliens and eight bosses only to die at the end! (Although I found Max's stupid commentary really annoying, so I was kind of happy that he died at the end.)

Addictive
This is hands down one of the best games I have played in a while and I'm glad I got it while it was free (though I would've happily paid a dollar for it). The only thing I would like to see improved is the second difficulty. I think both easy and medium difficulties should let you constantly continue and hard be the one where you try to run straight through it. But it's currently my favorite game on my iPod. Hexage, you need to get on making a decent Geometry Wars remake for the iPod.

But there is one problem. Not being able to upgrade weapons in the middle of the game. There is this one level when the pilot is in the future an the enemies detonates a planet and you have to dodge the meteors. I cant get past it cuz I accidentally pressed esc an didn't upgrade my weapon. Plz make it so I can upgrade my weapons. I do t want to restart

Awesomest!!!
The coolest app ever. I love this game. The graphics are retro but not boring. The controls are intuitive, but the game is very challenging. I'm always skeptical of the vintage arcade games re-made for iPhone, but this is very well done. Bravo!
Tip for guy who couldn't get past the "planet detonation" asteroids, update your lasers to at least level 8 throughout the game. (don't bother updating anything but your lasers, seeking missiles, and plasma gun.) use your lasers and stay within a small area. Don't dodge too much or your lasers won't catch up. They will destroy everything but the huge ones. Hope that helps. It took me forever too, but that's how I beat it.

These games by hexage are INCREDIBLY sweet! I hate taking the time to rate apps, but for these games, it is TOTALLY necessary! The music, the graphics, overall design-- everything is SO well done! Fun, but...
It's fun, but it could be better.
The good: old-school shooting, entertaining dialogue, different weapons that make for a different experience each time, weapon leveling.
The bad: no sort of speed upgrade--both the ship and weapons' firing speed are slow, and they stay that way; weapons are weak, and none of them feel particularly good--even maxing them out doesn't ever make you feel like you've got a really good weapon; the last asteroid-dodging level is based entirely on luck, and the odds are so high against you that it becomes a chore to play (I passed it a couple times, but every time it was a task, not fun); the enemies near the end feel like they take too long to kill, as though they were made tougher just to lengthen playtime.

Nicely Done
I've seen a lot of reviews for this game (both good and bad) and I have to say while some of the complaints I've read are entirely valid there are certain things everyone should take into consideration. First off, this game is new so no one should expect it to be perfect. If you really think about it, no game is perfect. Secondly, it's using a tried and tested formula, and it may not be for everyone. There's no one app that meets everyone's needs. If this app doesn't do it for you then just delete it, simple as that. And thirdly, this game is FREE. Ever heard the saying you get what you pay for? Well if want to apply that here remember, you DIDN'T pay for it! So either wait and see what kind of improvements the developers make for this game or delete it! But don't give it bad ratings when it doesn't deserve them. I don't know what's going on with it crashing for some of you. It runs perfectly for me. Anyway to me, this app is great. It's well-polished and genuinely fun. Pick this up if you enjoy the classics

Incredible
Radiant is quite possibly one of the best apps out there. It uses a verry common idea but manages to turn it into an incredible experience. The gameplay in Radiant is the same as the old arcade shooters: you man a spaceship at the bottom of the screen and you can move side to side by pressing on either side of the screen. Shooting is automatic, and shoots twice every few seconds with the regular cannon and other weapons. The graphics in Radiant are the real selling point however. The graphics, while simple and pixelized, come of with a very ambiant glow and sheen; giving them a near 3D look that is truly beautiful. I'm not sure whether it has retina graphics but they look stunning on my Itouch 4G. All in all, this app is incredible! And while it doesn't have a very new idea, it is still manages to be a unique, radiant experience

Very Good
Very fun, but a little bit too challenging. I find myself starting over before I even make it to the second weapon upgrade. I made it to the first "boss ship" once, but he got too close and I couldn't escape. Other than the intense difficulty and a few minor grammar mishaps, this game is one of the best. Love the graphic style and colors as well.

A love letter to the 80's
I'm really loving this game. There are little references to early arcade and 8-bit games everywhere, the soundtrack is fantastic, the story adds the right amount of "cheesy" one would come to expect from a wholly retro universe, and the difficulty can be quite challenging. You *will* lose coins, except that there are no coins to lose. People in their late 20's or early 30's will love Radiant passionately, but I'm afraid teenagers won't get it.
My only criticism is that powerups are quite scarce, wildly inconsistent between plays, and it will take one a lot of luck to collect and upgrade even a single weapon to the maximum.
Giving it a five in any case because as it stands the game is already that good; improving it as described above would be rather welcome, though!

I find having to touch left and right to move in those directions a little weird when I would think you could simply tilt the iPod Touch in that direction to move there. Having my two thumbs on either side I'm blocking a lot of the screen and hiding it from visual play. If you could simply tilt the iPod Touch in the direction you want to go you would be able to see the entire screen!
Maybe as you go along you could collect bombs and use them as well? Some areas of asteroids there is NO way out of an area and bombs would be nice if you had one.

Loved it but the ending...
I loved this game all the way through- great graphics, fun gameplay, and surprisingly witty dialogue gave this game 4.5 stars (rounded to 5; I want to support this game). I just wish the ending was cooler. The final lines came out of nowhere but then... Nothing. Asides from that and making better difficulty scaling, this game was amazing. Worth it at 1 dollar, so don't hesitate while it's free!

God, it's slow.
The original Space Invaders absolutely blazes in comparison to the early goings of Radiant. You are at the mercy of auto-fire, which removes the strategy of SI altogether. As I bought new weapons in hopes of getting a speedier shot, each was slower to fire than the last. I can't even give points for originality, as every sprite is either stolen from SI and Pac-Man, or based on enemies from Galaga. Weak. Enjoy beating 60+ levels on one credit, as continues are reserved for easy mode only.
Lesson: Buy SI Infinity Gene for the only real reboot of the classic.

Mellow space blasting.
I've had this game for a long time but only recently got into it with the announcement of their HD iPad version. This is a bit like Space Invaders Extreme, but far more relaxed, and with a goofy sense of self-aware humor. The developers clearly understand retro gaming and this is a great example of a remake done right -- beautiful yet simple, addicting but not punishing. Get it!

Great Game...some tips
This game is GREAT!
I just keep going back to this one over and over after trying others .
Tips:
1. Choose Laser Weapon as soon as you have the cash and upgrade to level 10 asap. Much easier to get through bosses.
2. If you see you're going to loose a life (blinking rocket at top right) Quit the game immediately, and you will start level over with your rockets (lives) restored to what you had at beginning of level. Especially if you are on the last life so the game doesn't restart from beginning .

Classic, Fun, Entertaining, Well-designed!
This app is really cool and is a great reproduction of one the most popular classics of all time! It is very fun! The game characters like Max Blaster and Supercreep are funny, and there are alot of levels following an awesome science fiction storyline! But the Megabrain boss level is difficult becuase it requires alot of strategy and planning and you also have to be alert and what out for the projectile orbs, and dodge lighting fast punches.

No save or level select option?
Like many others have requested, please add a save feature, or a level select feature of the levels you have cleared. Starting all over again has definitely made me want to put this game down. For those who want the challenge of no saves, you could make a "marathon" feature. With both a save mode, and a marathon mode, everyone would be happy.

The absolute BEST game!
Better than any game on the iPhone! It's extremely addicting, and very colourful! It just looks very good, it
flows between levels, so the only time you lose sight of your ship is the weapons shop! The weapons are interchangable, so you can quick-swap between your plasma canons and your vulcan machine guns!

Awesome App!!
This is a great app! The only thing that could make it better would be more levels. I got to the end in a few days. If more levels are added it will be five stars. Definatly worth it! If they could add a mode where levels were just randomly generated, even without a story, that would be really cool. So you can just keep playing no matter what!

Pretty Good
I like this game alot and think it definitely deserves five stars however I have some criticisms.
First of all the game is Hella fun but it goes by way too fast. Maybe in the next update you can continue the story line. Also it would be cool to have a freeplay mode in which you can just shoot aliens and upgrade all your guns. You should also make another like ten levels of upgrades for your weapons and maybe even add some new weapons. Also sometimes when I play normal or hardcore the screen suddenly goes blue and it says connecting and I have to go back to the main menu and when I start again it lost all my progress. Alternate control options would be nice and the option to turn autofire on or off although this isn't as important to me. So anyways great job and I hope to see an update soon.

Outstanding 99 cent shooter!
This game is a little challenging, yes, but all that does is add longevity to it. Don't listen to the whiners who think the rate of fire or enemy patterns are unfair... It's called a challenge people! You really can't go wrong if you have liked any of the gradius, rtype, xevious type games. Very good stuff! An update with perhaps some kind of bomb or nuke option (buyable item) would be nice, but isn't necessary. Controls are solid, weapon switching nice and intuitive and never interferes with play. Buy it!

First, learn Balance.
Good retro graphics, good control scheme, decent sound... But it needs some work. The ship fires MUCH too slowly, even with a maxed out Vulcan cannon. The other weapons aren't much better either. Seriously, six missiles to blow up one small ship on the third level? It's a good game that is really frustrating to play. Oh, and what's with the larger ships going all the way to the bottom before firing? Seems kinda cheap. The review will change if the game gets fixed.
