Description

Tired of fumbling with your FDNY Chart to figure out when you’ll be working two months from now? Sick of coloring the boxes and adding reminders about your mutuals?
FDNY to the rescue!
Custom-designed with the help of New York City firefighters, FDNY is smart about your chart. It knows about the 25 groups and their schedules, pairing of mutual partners, vacations, RSOT, and so on. The calendar screen always shows your day and night tours and your partner’s tours (using colors of your own choosing) for the next 24 months from “today.” It takes only a few taps to enter a mutual with your partner. A few more taps and you’ve got a mutual recorded with somebody else. Separate balances are maintained for each person. And, there’s no need for a new chart every year.
FDNY also contains a list of NYC firehouses and callboxes, complete with locations (one touch to see maps) and firehouse phone numbers (one touch to make calls).
Features:
• Displays your schedule for the next two years, including vacations, holidays, and paydays.
• Double-tap any day to see the day and night group numbers, just like the printed chart.
• Integrates with your Address Book to list your colleagues in other groups.
• Records mutuals. Tracks tours earned or owed on a person-by-person basis.
• Formats emails for sending out mutual offers.
• Contains a Logbook for keeping track of tours or hours of your choosing.
• Shows your vacation periods.
• Logs “events” with date, time and location — you can edit the title, text, and location details when you have time.
• Event locations can be mapped.
• Displays your tours and those of your mutual partner simultaneously
• Adjustable colors for day/night tours, vacations, RSOT holidays, etc.
• Track all overtime, P/P, A2R, and CFR-D by pay period.
• Mark special days such as training or medical appointments.
• Quickly locate any NYC firehouse on a map. Sort the list by engine or ladder.
• Tutorial mode: help and tips for every screen.
If you need help, use the in-app email button (on the Help tab) or send to fdny@buddy.com. Please don't put questions or suggestions in a review; there's no way for me to reply. -- Jeff
I reply to all emails immediately (or within a few hours if I'm sleeping or traveling, which isn't often). If you didn't hear from me promptly, it means there was failure in the Tubes. Please try again to contact me.
FDNY is for members of the New York City FD (not EMS). If you’re not a member of that department, then you do not want this app. Instead, check out Scheduler (see "Developer Apps"), which can handle repeatable shift schedules and on which FDNY is based. NYC EMS members should also use Scheduler.

Very useful app. Could be great.

This app is very helpful if you area firefighter in the city. There is a learning curve that could be alittle easier. Also for the price I feel it should include more features such as iCloud syncing across devices and back up. I got a new device that couldn't be restored and lost everything. I know there is a back up function now which I use with my iPad but it is clunky. Also native iPad support would be awesome. A lot of guys on the job have iPhone 6/7 plus so supporting that native resolution would also be great. I feel like the text is huge sometimes and more could be fit.

Worst app ever

Seriously confusing and if u do figure it out its useless ... Do not buy!
Update ****
the people who made this app contacted me and asked me to change my review... it is the most difficult to use app I have ever encountered and I'm extremely tech savvy ... I would not suggest anyone spend money on this app I wish I hadn't but even with this bad review they didn't offer a refund they just asked me to recant .. which I have no intention of doing

6 stars

When I initially got the app it was a bit confusing and took a little time to figure it out but once I did I can’t live without it. Single most important app I have now.

Best app if your on the job period. Awesome support if you need it. I switched phone and had problems backing up so I contacted them through email, quick response and they help back up and restore to another phone.

Nozzle, Halligan, Helmet, FDNY app

Those are all essential tools for a modern fireman. I'm notoriously cheap but, I'm also a gadget geek and love anything that will organize my life AND give me all the info I need right at my finger tips, so I forked over the $9.99.
Probably the most well spent $10 I ever let leave my hand. It does take a good amount of playing with to get the hang of it but once it clicks it's like the roof being open. It works best when you keep a guys group # with his contact info. Need off for a particular tour? Just touch & hold the day and a list of guys who's groups would be a good fit come up. Cuts the amount of phone calls down tremendously.
If you like to work out your MXs w/you partner a month in advance like me it's helps to put yours & his vacation & RSOTs in for the year. Takes 5 minutes and there's never any last minute surprises that'll have you scrambling. P/u a tour and it keeps track of it. You can also put in a note like why you worked for them or what they needed of for. And if you have someone else pay them back you can put that in there too. Keeps the confusion about paying a tour back or who owes you to a minimum. You'll be able to jog their memory w/why and not have to search through weeks/months of entries in the book for the who & when.
Fireman notoriously don't like change. Don't be a dinosaur. If you've got an iPhone, BUY THIS APP! Get the Johnny to show you how to use it. The pocket group chart used to be the best tool an off-duty fireman had. This is incredible! And if you have any questions or suggestions the developer gets right back to you and appreciates the feedback. It's a no brainer.

Great app worth the money!

The "paycheck" section is a bit confusing to look at. Also, I think keeping track of owed mutuals could be done better. But overall it's my most valuable app. I haven't had a paper calendar in 2 years.

Not for ems!

Great app but I work the ems side so it doesn't work for me. My fire suppression buddies seem to think it's pretty useful though. Btw fort totten is spelled wrong in the phone number listing.

Add PCOT to OT

Jeff I saw the first email that was spell check the second was not. What I meant was LT's and CAPT's call our overtime Post Coverage OverTime or PCOT for short. FF's OT is MMOT. Maybe add PCOT to OT button and where it was worked like P2P. Great app.

If you own an iphone, and are on the J-O-B get this app, cheapskate!

It takes a while to learn everything thats available to you on this app, but once you do, there's no going back to your paper calendar. If you have any problems or questions, write to the app creators, and they get right back to you with the answer. It is a really well thought out app, and I highly recommend it to any FDNY member! If you're detailed out of house, go to your firehouse locator, awesome!

A very nice app

This is an excellent app. It consolidates all of your busy lifestyle activities in one place. My only improvement would be to intergrate an alarm to the scheduler so that I don't have to continually look at it to make sure I'm not missing something

Great job

I never wrote a review before, but this app deserves it. Great job. A bunch of the guys at my house have this app and we all love it. I use it all of the time to track OT, late runs, Mx, and just about everything else. The new update is great. Putting the box #'s is just what the chauffeur ordered. Thanks for all of your hard work.

A+ Bro. Money well spent.

Great app, I was hesitant at first spending the money but I haven't looked back. I used to go through a couple calendars a year and many erasers lol. I had my calendar on every where i went and literally every trip I took. It was such a hassle but you never know when your gonna bank a tour or a last minute MX.
I haven't picked up that calendar since. and I recommend it to all of us with iPhones.
PS: I stumbled upon the app by mistake while being a lil Buffy. Seems like word of mouth is how were finding out about this one. And its just one house at a time. You might want to think about marketing this thru the bag or with a flyer to them all.
Stay safe all...

Homerun (once you figure it out)!!

It took a long time of just palying with it to figure out how it works (entering mx partner tours vs. other mx's, 2 mx's in 1 day...) but once I figured it out and customized the calendar to look exactly how I want, no doubt this app is a homerun!! VERY easy to use!! Def worth $10 but it does takes some patience in the beginning.

Worth every penny!!

Every FDNY member with an iphone should own this app! It doesn't get any easier than this in managing your schedule. You always have your phone with you and now you have your chart with you as well.

Just what we need

This app gets rid of all of the confussion, and trying to fumble through multiple calanders to find out who I owe and who owes me. Also when taking out of borrow details using the Firehouse locater is great, get directions and even call the house from within the app. Deffinetly worth $9.99
