Weather geek

Noticed lately the Weather Channel has been a little ahead of you on updates on weather systems. Come on guys, tighten up! Have had this app for a while now. Please don't let me down. An earlier review I gave you was 5 stars. Get your updates a little more timely 5 stars will come back. Good luck. Getting a little disappointed lately in you guys lately. The weather channel is maybe 12 hours and sometimes 24 hrs ahead. If that's the case why do I need you?? Some of the functionality on your site needs major work. At one time the audio won't shut off. 🙄 Come on guys, do this thing.

Best there is!

Being in Southern Florida, tropical storms are a concern June to November, and even outside of these occasionally...
I've tried several weather apps, both paid and free, and many have their own features, but Hurricane Tracker has everything, all the info from NOAA and the National Hurricane Center, plus some screens I don't know where they came from...
Because of this app, no more waiting for 3, 6 & 12 hour reports on local news, when a storm is active these folks have us all tapped in to whatever the NHC, all in one place. They got all the latest satellite images, radar and loops, projected paths from the same computers that run the different models, all the text releases. It's certainly possible to get these on your own (which I used to do), but everything's here!...
In times past it was a problem with the bandwidth, but since service has got better it makes even more sense.
So if you find yourself frustrated waiting on the local news to get the latest about an approaching storm, I recommend Hurricane Tracker. You can even get access from their website too, if you want to see larger versions of satellite and radar.
I went through Andrew, plus every other storm down here since Camille, and after searching, this is the best app I could find for this purpose...

Really annoying

They do have useful features but don't follow them on twitter. They can't seem to distinguish a small storm expected to amount to nothing from a major hurricane. Either they'll drive you nuts with endless tweets over nothing significant or have you thinking a hurricane is headed for your doorstep. Use the National Hurricane Center reports (NHC) instead.

Failed at a critical time

I purchased this app specifically to stay updated on the progress of Hurricane Matthew (I live in central Florida.) The app functioned well until sometime around 11:00 pm on the night landfall was expected, then failed. By "failed" I mean it quit providing NHC advisories or graphics. Let me be clear: I never lost power, and my wifi remained functioning throughout the night, but this app quit providing critical information at the most critical time. If you are considering the purchase of this app to keep you informed during a hurricane emergency, look elsewhere. I could not be more dissatisfied with this app. If I could have given it zero stars I would have done so. EZ Apps, Inc. has done a great disservice to any who, like me, relied on this app to provide what could have been life-saving information in the midst of a massive category 4 hurricane.
UPDATE, 5/22/17. I received a response overnight from the developer explaining that the aforementioned failure was the result of NOAA's systems crashing. As the 2017 hurricane season is upon us, I'll give this app another run, and re-evaluate my rating at the end of the season.

Nothing loads on this app. I can get more information on other free basic weather apps. Very disappointed. If it's because of high traffic that's a lame excuse. All you need to keep informed

I have several Weather APPS and the local news station's hurricane tracker. However none of those do as comprehensive a job as this app. It gathers all the data available and offers it in many forms and ways to receive it including email,Twitter and FBk. Living in central Florida, I like knowing way in advance of national/local news what may be brewing. And, the written updates have a human quality to their style- I feel like I'm being notified by a concerned friend!

Revue request

Ok so first let me address the app first, it's wonderful, does exactly what it's suppose to do and I can rely on its accuracy at all times. Love it love it love it.
Improvements are alway making my experience with is app a pleasure to work with.
Ok so here's the problem, this system of writing a revue is as antiquated as an out house. What gives? I had to write this review in portrait mode and never allowed to do it in landscape which for me is easier. Let's get with it people, make the entire experience "entire".

Won't fully open / problem Resolved

Changing from one star to five. Turns out there was a server problem. Tech support got back to me in a timely manner, and assured me the problem had been resolved. Now the app works as expected.
Resetting the phone doesn't help. I have a iPhone 5 and the app just grinds away, never fully opening. Odd thing is, I purchased the iPhone ver and it doesn't work. Works ok on my iPad though. Since I need cell data, this app is worthless to me.

After 1 year of use

As an insurance adjuster following the tropical systems is very important to me. An application such as this gives you a one stop location to keep up with the current tropical trends. I highly recommend this app for persons that are interested in following weather patterns of the tropics or have a personal or professional interest in tropical weather. The push notifications and tweets are also a big plus as you get alerted to changing fluid scenarios as a result to tracking storms. I have seen high-profile national weather personalities tweet and join discussions with the analyst who publish the tracker application. Also the video updates are a convenient way to get a quick synopsis of the current tropical weather conditions. During times of busy tropical storm activity the video updates are sometimes published twice a day. Again this is the best resource I found to get the latest tropical weather conditions and updates on your phone.

All I need

They need to back off the Push notifications. I have Push activated because this app used to notify me if there was a storm. Now it is notifying me of commercial messages about itself. Today I got one saying to "check the models every day to see what has developed." Very annoying!
From a quick update (are we in a hurricane watch? Yes or No?) to detailed analysis, (when will it get here?) I can choose as much or as little information as I want at any moment. Has the tracking maps, models and satellite and radar. Excellent app.
Annoying how they use push notification to insist that I rate the app. But it is great.

Randomly good

Clearly the best collection of hurricane information available in an application (I've tried the many options). I haven't figured out the order of items --there is a terrible chaos to the layout and structure of the topics, images, and sections. It would be very nice if the programmers would give some thought to the look and order of this assemblage of collected images that passes curiously well for a source of hurricane information. Right now it beats the others, but it could be a really excellent application with some work

Over-stuffed and bloated and s.l.o.w...

Last year (2012 season) I was very happy with this app, although it was quite slow to load various maps and displays. Very informative, though and we used it through Sandy. I was quite pleased with the whole experience.
Now comes 2013 and the spam. Don't subscribe to the app's Facebook page or the Twitter feeds. They will inundate you with spam. I received 4 notifications from HurricaneTracker in a period of 6 hours and only 1 had anything to do with a potential hurricane that was just a hunch and one week out.
It seems that after their success during Sandy, they now love to hear themselves talk. If you get the app, you'll probably like if you are patient with data load times, I recommend not subscribing to FB or Twitter updates unless you just love to be annoyed.

SWFLhurricanetarget

I not only love this app I truly appreciate it. Weather casters down here (with exception of WINK News) are panic inspirers, and this app lets me find accurate info without the YELLING, though I would still go to TV for latest local update in case of a major storm headed our way for immediate info. I've already seen our street on tv in the eye of a storm. Satellites and updates are fantastic. It offers LOTS of features, so I would recommend spending some time becoming familiar with its features before a storm is headed your way. 5 stars. More if I could. Sandy

My only complaint was that it was not keeping up with the Storm. It was usually 12 hours behind when I wanted current info.
The amount of info was beyond belief. It covered ALL the bases and then some. I know it is hard to keep ALL of that data up to the minute.
As a compromise, I would suggest that it would be nice to have the pertinent data up to the minute and let some of the other data lag.

Extremely accurate for Hurricane Sandy

I used this to keep a large group of people updated on Facebook during Hurricane Sandy. After the storm, people said I was more accurate than any other source. I made a point to tell them I'm not a professional, and relayed only what I was seeing on your app, based on maps and various explanations you offered. You were on point and extremely accurate. Thank you. I'll continue to promote your app. Only request is please let us know the day/time that your voice recording is/was last updated, because you stated that it may not always be constantly updated. Thanks a million for helping me to help others with ACCURATE INFORMATION, without the huge fear factor attached.

Top notch!! I deleted the others...

I explored a number of hurricane apps before settling on this one. One of my primary requirements was that it have the computer model "spaghetti" maps that go into determining the projected storm path. This app has that and much more. I've also been impressed with customer service: a quick response via twitter (built-in access) when I had what turned out to be a stupid question, and push notifications before and after a brief outage for server maintenance in preparation for the increased server load anticipated with hurricane Irene. Great job, guys. I don't even have any suggestions just yet!

South Louisiana

Living in South Louisiana I needed a good hurricane tracker. This app surpassed my expectations. The computer models, radar, satellite images, tropical waves, and more...we just went thru Issac. I watched as it got closer and could easily figure out how much time I had before. It would hit. I could plan safely in advance! Before the stores ran out of food and there was no gasoline left at the stations...I was set with this app. I used to go to TWC when I needed to check, but would have to wait till it go to the tropics. Even then, i was subject to what they wanted to show me. With this app, I can go to any area that I want to see at the touch of the app. Very cool! Keep the family safe with this app you can plan ... This is the must have app for hurricane prone areas.

Awesome App!!!

Normally I would have to go to many different sites just to locate what I need to view storms positions, discussions, model forecasts and satellite feeds. This app has it all in one. Great images and up to date satellite loops in one page is definitely a plus. It's easy to use and always very informative. Great app for me and the whole family. I give thanks for whoever came up with this great idea for an app and I'm referring it to all my friends and family here in the United States Virgin Islands where almost every Atlantic storm keeps us in alert....thanks Hurricane Tracker!!!!

Great app, all the weather info in one place

I was not down south when Isaac hit, but was watching app the whole time. I think whoever had problems when "storm was about to hit" was either a cell tower problem or operator error.
Hurricanes have something called HIGH WIND. This can cause any of several problems for cell towers not to mention the number of people trying to download info and talk to others all at the same time. No mater who your carrier is that could slow down data transfer.
What I would like to see is info on the number of people out of power. Right now I have to wait on the weather channel to decide to give that info. Other than that its got everything I need, thanks for the app

I love it in Key West!

I live and perform in Key West and it's perfect for me because I can see all the maps together by the tiniest bit. During Isaac I knew before all my key west friends did, and I was in California! It also helps me determine if I am getting on stage to play Music or not depending on what massive storm will be slamming into our island! This app helped me get my car into a parking garage just in time before a hurricane while I was traveling and away from my home in the Keys. Haha great job guys! Love this app.

Trouble during storm

This app is generally great, however it was not helpful during Hurricane Isaac. (We were on its direct path.) I had great difficulty loading the data even though I had signal and also, for a period of time, I know you had technical trouble with your laptop and the app was not available. The information that I needed as the storm began to approach us closely was not available. I wanted to be able to see radar and check warnings for both our family and family that was in neighboring areas. The App was more helpful well in advance of the hurricane to give early warning. Perhaps you can develop a way to access information that can download more easily fir those in the path of a major storm that are dependent upon cell phones. I have 4G service but it loaded so slowly it timed out. Perhaps a short cut to the current storm without having to load the entire page (even though your graphics look great). All in all I think this is a helpful app if you are able to work out some of these issues. The maps and details are great to have organized in one place. The prime problem (which may be out of your control) is when the storm is at or near our doorstep.

Comforting and informative

Like many others here I purchased it as Isaac was approaching. The information was easily accessible when needed and I didn't need to listen to the incessant chatter of a reporter standing on a windy beach somewhere to get the information I needed. I also like the push notifications feature which will alert me even when I'm not following the news, like when I'm at work. Very comforting and useful.

Easy to use, useful notifications

All the maps you need are in one place. The notifications let you know what's developing as it happens. Living in a hurricane prone area, this is a very convenient app to have. In my experience with this app it has been more accurate and up to date than the local weather. Also more convenient to pull this up than going to the nhc site, which was my previous hurricane tracking source.

Impressive

Living in Caribbean (US Virgin Islands), the need for solid updated weather information during hurricane season is paramount, and 'Hurricane Tracker' does just that! Very impressed with the user-friendly layout of the app.
For example, the various sorts of satellite maps all in one place gives an ideal overview point of an active system.
Checked our many many other hurricane and weather apps, but this one sure beats then all in timely updates(!!), ease of use and reliability.
On a side-note; one feature I would like to see added (if possible!) is the ability to see the Hurricane Hunter's flight data (pressure, flight winds, temps, etc.) on a map, as it is happening (as close to 'real time' as possible).
That way one can have the 'finger on the pulse' with all the data the NHC is working with.
Last: the timely 'Push' alerts are a VERY impressive feature!!!!

Awesome app!

I live in Virginia Beach and have experienced many hurricanes and tropical storms. Even off coast they cause major problems to our area.
This past summer I had this app on my iPad. It proved to be super helpful and crazy accurate! I love all the features and the possible tracks the storm may take.
I work in the medical field and patients still need treatments no matter what the weather is. This app helps us in knowing what and when to expect from a storm so we can schedule accordingly .
Very accurate app and I recommend to everyone!

Phenomenal

I was sketched out about spending 2.99 on an app when there were competitors selling at .99 but I decided there has to be a reason for being $2 more expensive. I was right. And it's so worth the extra bucks! I woke up the next morning to an alert that a tropical depression formed off the Atlantic. This goes up and beyond my expectations. I bought this app because I surf and need a reliable source. I cannot tell you how much instant detailed info you get in this app. If I knew it would be this good then Id spend so much more money for the app! Now I can have a pretty accurate guess on when I need to take a day off work to surf. Haha

Awesome App

I never take the time to write reviews but I like this app so much I felt compelled to. It is absolutely awesome! There are tons of great things I could say about it but what I like most are the notifications. You are notified the instant a storm develops and when significant changes take place but are never over notified about every little thing. I find myself turning off notifications for most apps because of unnecessary alerts but never will this one! When hurricane season rolls around, this is by far my favorite app!

Great app.

This app is amazing all around. Great maps and models, with this hurricane season interesting so far this app helps a lot and all the information itself is interesting and extremely detailed as well. This came in extremely handy during Irene this year. The push notifications are my favorite as they sum up everything that happens in my region as soon as it happens/is happenning. Keep up the good work with updates 

Great push updates

I live in FL and this app gives me the most up-to-date information of any new storm. It tells me when a new storm has developed. I receive optional push notifications, and I love it! Their excellent choices of maps allow you to scan through the Atlantic, Caribbean, and the Gulf quickly. This app gives you a view like no other weather website! It has been my go to app this entire hurricane season. Buy it!

The Push Alerts work well, better than I anticipated. Have not seen the video discussions yet since there is no storm yet. The maps are good but I would like to see more maps. Overall I am satisfied with this app.

Great App

Very informative when you need it most. Tracked Irene all the way from start to finish. A one point on Sunday, the wind and rain stopped and the sun came out. I opened the app and sure enough, it was the eye of the storm. A short time later the clouds and winds came back and the lights went out. For two days. The point is, I didn't put all the storm gear away because I saw it was the eye of the storm and NT the end of the storm. Thanks Hurricane Tracker!

Becoming bloated

I agree this is the best and most informative of the hurricane aps. Recently it has become bloated. Granted it's prettier, flashy satellite image background, new banner and other tweaks too. But it takes forever to load now. I understand the sat loop taking time but the main page should be quick like is used to be. You almost have to have wifi, kind of defeats the purpose of having it on the phone. And please bring back the last update timestamp so I can tell if the page has changed. And if there is no audio update then remove the icon or cross it out or something. I don't need to load a video to hear there is no video, that's insane.
This app used to better when it was simpler.
Was five stars now, three for excessive load times and clutter. I want function over form.

What u need, when u need it!

Being in SE Florida, Storms & Hurricanes are something we all need fairly instant info on, and since our household (as well as most every family we know) rarely watches actual Television stations, we need accurate storm potential and current Factual Data as quickly as it's available. This app does exactly that, and has plenty of user options for individual needs.

Just what I needed

I live in South West Florida. During hurricane season it's important to stay on top of all the storms brewing in the Atlantic and tracking their course. This app is EXACTLY what I was looking for. The information is updated regularly and it's very easy to find and flip through. I downloaded this app when Irene was still south of the Bahamas - the app keep me notified of any changes to Irene from that point onwards. It was a big relief for me to have hurricane data right at my finger tips everywhere I went. I recommended it to my parents and my sister and I recommend it to anyone living where hurricanes are a threat.

Lots of Important Storm Information

This app does an excellent job of combining and presenting the important storm information from several sources, and the audio update and alert features are nice. But the most interesting part, the tracking map/info, is a bit clunky. The app would be much better if the developers devised their own tracking map graphics and made more information available for each past and projected position. In addition, other similar apps use such graphics to display tracks of past storms in detail, which is really neat.

I use this app every day

Living in FL, I have tried several hurricane apps. This is the best one I have encountered so far. Love the availability of the forecast spaghetti models and the GOES satellite images. Having the Saffir-Simpson Scale definitions at your fingertips is also helpful. Have yet to have an issue with slow loading, but the app gathers images from at least 4 Web sites, some of which may become overloaded when an active storm is close. Even NOAA seizes-up on occasion when a hurricane is on top of the US coast.

Lots of cool features that miss the point of such an app

I must say all the features of this app are impressive and I suppose to a hurricane tracking hobbyist this app may be the best I've found. But I just want to find out how the storm is impacting my area: wind and rain forecasts as a function of time (based on most probable storm track) plus probabilities of various alternative tracks predicted by the models. Just giving the same NOAA tracking map with no zoom capacity does not cut it. Use the technology to make the NOAA data and forecasts interactive and locally relevant. Bring something that adds value to the data and satellite images. The images are stunning and interesting, mind you, but not too useful to understand what it all means to my day.

Comprehensive App!

Although the information presented is available for free on government websites, this app does a superior job in aggregating relevant hurricane info and graphics. You are paying for their expertise in finding the data on dozens of sometimes obscure government websites, displaying it, and it is well worth it! As a Floridian and a retired safety professional, I discovered several graphics that I wasn't familiar with. So, the educational value was well worth the price A nice touch is the audio reports and push advisories. I'd like to be able to email the graphics, but this isn't offered yet. PS: On a purely business perspective, Irene no doubt swelled their sales!

My Truthful Review.

This app has been extremely helpful during to me in more ways than one. I'm not always able to hear the radio, near a T.V., or have the time to follow the storm. So with the information sent to me it's a constant update and save me tons of time. I highly recommend it!
I would like to see the windspeeds and category of the storm as it reaches each location on the Push updates. I think this would be and excellent advancement in the notification process.

Horrible!!! Worst App!!

Definitely one of the WORST Apps I have ever been suckered into wasting my money on!!! It is 7:15 A.M. on Sunday. They are giving me the "latest" update for Hurricane Irene "as of 11:00 P.M. Saturday!!!! What? That's 8 hours behind the time. Totally wasted "non-information." The video shows a computer screen very small, with a guy moving a cursor across the screen telling esentially NOTHING NEW! And, to add insult to injury, he begins his outdated "non-news" by first talking about tropical depressions way out in the Atlantic that he concedes will most likely not affect the U.S. but "we'll keep our eye on them." Why? I'm only interested in ACTUAL storms that will affect me in the U.S.!! I get MUCH BETTER latest and useful information FREE on my TV. Don't waste your money on this wasted App!

Better than the rest

This app is by far the best compared to the rest. I live in central FL which took 4 direct hits in 2004 & I wish I had it then. With family & friends in various parts of FL & up/down the East Coast it has complete info as described & then some (i.e. they even let you know when they upgrade servers during high traffic times). Push notifications are invaluable especially if you are busy with work, family. storm preparations, etc.

Have hurricanes? You need this app

We lost our home to Ivan when it hit FL in '04. I wish I could have had all the info this app provides in the days leading up to Ivan making landfall. During hurricane season I constantly check this app. Waiting on local news to tell you what's happening is frustrating and you lose precious time. This app helps keep you one step ahead of the storm. I have used it every year for the last 3 years and I am glad I have it!

Awesome

This app is probably one of the best in any category I've purchased and I paid twice what they are offering for it now. The audio updates are fantastic and they have every map you could possibly want to see. It would be nice if they added a section to explain how and where the different track models come from (shown in different color lines) other than that it's easy to use, informative and even living in Miami, I always seem to be the first to know! I love this app if your city falls into the "cone of uncertainty" every hurricane season, you should buy this ASAP!

Hurr Tracker: The Best So Far

I live near the Gulf of Mexico, so I am particularly interested in tropical systems during the hurricane season. I have 3 hurricane-specific apps (2 paid & 1 free). Hurr Tracker is, by far, the better of the 2 paid apps. I paid $2.99 for it (& $3.99 for the other 1). Hurr Tracker is better because it has a variety of weather maps that I can view without having to press any more buttons (other than the initial one, which is labeled for easy access). Once the tropical system reaches storm status, a More Maps button appears at the bottom of the initial maps. These maps allow me to see more pertinent information about the system. The maps come from NOAA, Weather Underground, & other weather sites. Hurr Tracker is just what I need for the hurricane season. Thank you, Developers, for providing such an informative tropical system-tracking app!

Updates rock!

The app already had all pertinent info, but the recent updates make it not only way more useful but pretty too! I love the additions of the sea temps and forecasts, the ability to switch to/from landscape mode and the new home screen so you don't have to search each region separately. It's all right there in front of you now. Also, the motion satellite starts very quickly. Love the updates! Just in time for hurricane season! Thx!

Excellent app! You must have this one.

If you're like me and you live in a place that doesn't get affected by hurricanes, you have to dig for info on them when there is one out. Well, that is a pain, and since I'm a complete enthusiast when it comes to meteorology, ESPECIALLY severe phenomena like hurricanes, I've gotta stay informed! This app solved all my problems in that department. I love it and it was worth so much more than the petty price I paid for it. You won't regret downloading this one. Thanks, guys, for a swell app!

This app is a must have, especially for the ones of us that live in areas with severe storms and possible hurricane activities. It offers so many different maps and satellite views. This app is really well made as nothing is more valuable than early notification when nature is about strike.

Ignore the speculation and weather wonks

I live in Florida, so hurricane speculation is a cottage industry here. Now I can see what I need to see and be warned by TM. Frankly, you never really can tell the power nor the place a hurricane might go until about 24 hours before it strikes. Even then, there is a lot of room for error. That's why this ap is so handy for me. I don't have to listen to dire predictions....my phone will buzz when there is something I need to know.

Fantastic App!!!

Just what I was looking for! The new version is fantastic! Even has audio! What more could we want? Danielle just developed & another storm is brewing just behind it. This second storm is not on the news yet, so we are ahead of most people by having this app. We just moved to Florida a few months ago, heard about "Charlie" coming thru this area a few years ago, so I want to be prepared. Hurricane Tracker loads fast, has great graphics, & shows future tracking. Love it!

Handy but Not Elegant

This app looks like a glorified Web interface. It is not too artfully done and the pictures in the app store look nicer, expecially the fonts, than what I see on my phone in the current version. Among other things, even as presented the maps scroll off the screen yet are too small to see the details. To actually see the details one has to zoom, but at least the zoom works. It is limited to landscape mode. That is an artificial limitation and I believe it is a shame that the developer has made that choice. It looks like this app draws largely, but possibly not solely, upon freely avaiable material. So you could save the money, find the most important information and book mark it in Safari. This is definitely handier, it hasn't crashed, and is ad free, so it is worth the 99 cents. In closing this is a good app, worth the modest price, that could with a little effort be a beautiful and more user friendly app.

I will say this

At first I was nervous, having read good and bad reviews (why does it seem some people like it and some hate it?), but I went ahead and gambled the huge sum of 99 cents to see what it was. The verdict? It's very good, probably worth being a $4.99 app. Yes, a lot of this info can be found on the web, if you want to go search through several sites and fool around with resizing your screen all the time. This is a much cleaner way to do it. And it nicely summarizes everything in one handy spot. I am very glad I got it. I would have given it five stars, but the font on storm names is a little squirrelly and dark to read. But go ahead and spend the buck. The harsh reviews are just way off-base. The app is worth it and you won't be sorry.

Fabulous app!

It is hard for me to believe the 1-star reviews. Have you ever tried to navigate the NHC mobile web site on the iPhone with Safari? For 99 cents, I will gladly use Hurricane!. Yes, there are other Hurricane web apps, and they are good; and they are also 4 times as expensive. This brings quality hurricane maps to the masses. By the way - some of the satellite feeds are unique in that they offer a larger view - for example, "full atlantic" is not found in the competition.
