Great app for itchy DJs

I have used this app since it first hit the app store over a decade ago. It is still one of the best scratch performance tools that exists & a whole lot of fun to play with. I was really glad to see it updated last year, along with the developer stating that he would be adding ‘Pitch Control’ functionality. Have wanted that since day 1. Hopefully soon.

No full screen on my new iPad

On my iPad mini I was able to use in full screen. Sadly the mini has become slow and unresponsive after apple update a few years ago. So I finally decided to get a new iPad (larger) but for some reason on my new iPad This app won’t open full screen and it’s deformed (oval).. Any help out there to fix this issue ?

Still gonna rate it a 5 because I know this is a great app and it worked well before.. hopefully I can get this issue fixed..

App does not work....AT ALL! Wasted my money

I guess this app is not supported anymore because it does not work. It's completely broken. You can't even get it to make a sound. It won't load tracks from my library or their library. Record won't move. It's just straight up broken. Who do I contact to get my money back for this? I guess I'm beat for my money. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

Best scratch App

Hands down the closet thing to an actually deck. Very accurate tracking which I why it will always be better than baby scratch.

It would have got 5 stars... But the developer has totally abandoned this app. I've used this app for years now and haven't seen a single update. It's a shame because this app has the potential to be a major factor in mobile scratch game.. Which is booming at the moment. Vestax handy trax and raiden faders are selling like hot cakes. When the Mixfade app and cross fader come out, This app be an artifact.. The Atari of mobile scratching. I still appreciate the years of satisfaction that it gave me.

A real turntablist app

As a veteran DJ of 8 years, this app is great. The ability to scratch to your own library is flat out awesome, and can keep you in practice if you're on the go a lot and dont have time to get behind your own decks. The platter control is SUPERIOR to baby scratch, as it mimics a real Technic or Vestex table. I've read some of the other reviews from people downing the app, and I think they need to go back to school, and learn the basics. Great app!

Best scratch app, realistic

I really shouldn't review this app, because If more people get it the secret will be out of thr bag, but this is THE BEST scratch app out there. It loads your iPod music files EASILY and scratches with great accuracy. If you practice with this, which have been constantly for a couple months you can get the feel down and get really good with it. I can do flares, crab scratches, baby scratch if doorstep, and easily do transformers. This is a toN of fun. I don't remember how much it cost but it was totally worth whatever I paid. The oNLy thing I don't like is the corny : future: skin on it. I like the look of the baby scratch better. But this is still great . No updates in a year!

When I bought this app it was the best turntablist app available. The developers have not made an update in over a year, the skin is terrible and they need to add another turntable. Djay for iPhone is a much better app.

Cool but-Only 4.0.1 or higher

It's great because you can scratch your library & set a beat loop (also from library)

only problem is that it's not compatible with 4.0.1 or less.

BUT WHY I REALLY DON'T LIKE IS BECAUSE:

Its harder to control than the Baby scratch, and baby scratch is free!!!

Turntablist approved

Good responsiveness from transform button allows multiple click flares and even crab scratches. The area outside the transform button will respond as the transform, so you can get 2-3 finger crab clicks on an ipad2. It will take getting used to, but you can do wiggles with your fingertips, but doing super fast chirps won't happen. The turntable just doesn't track fast enough to keep up.

The placement of the tonearm can get in the way at times.

Wishes: Volume for Loop track, even wider transform area for iPad to allow 4 finger crab click, move tonearm away to opposite side of transform, being able to view iPod library in landscape mode.

Again, it takes some adjustment if you are used to the drag of a moving platter, but you can replicate a lot of click scratches and transforms pretty easily. Very good app overall for those who want to throw on instrumentals from their iTunes and have a scratch session.

It's alright, it malfunctions a lot and is hard to get it to work the way you want it to. Right now, as far as features go, I do like the iPod music import but the app is definitely not worth $5. possibly 2 or 3 would be much more reasonable. However, this review and the price would both be 5 if there are more features added (such as pitch control, as everyone is requesting). Update this to pack more features and fix the bugs and I would give this 5 stars and not regret spending five dollars on it.

Excellent App

This app really gets the job done, but what stands out the most to myself is the ability to use iPod music, waaay more simple than that computer downloading crap. But, I would like to see pitch level, which I hear might come out soon. Most prominently though, I REALLY want more skins, the futuristic theme is cool and all, but baby scratch's great visual quality blew my mind. Also as a little tidbit, when I try to get out of precision mode I usually end up nabbing the record and skipping a beat. With that said, Flare Scratch dominates, it really is an elite app. I prefer to listen to my music through this rather than the music app that iTunes provides. 5:5

A really good DJing app, I agree that there needs to be a different skin, not an alien one. If your skeptical of buying this try Baby Scratch for free, its basically a lite version of flare scratch.

Wow so much potential here - pitch control and maybe a button to make the arm stay in place and we are golden. Even if pitch control is initially mp3 only due to iTunes limitations. Still an awesome app and sooo close to being a real game changer! pitch control pitch control pitch control! ;-)

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! This app is not to be believed!!! With pitch control on the way this app will be even further into the stratosphere! Pressing your own vinyl right from your itunes library is amazing, especially if you have the capacity to render files of non music samples for the table. Works flawlessly and SOOOO FUN!!! The only thing that isn't PURE FUN about this app is browsing through a static list of thousands of tracks in my itunes library. I'll gladly put up with it, but a more user friendly library menu would make this a 6 star app!!

What happened!?

I don't like the newest update, IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME!!

Now, because I have ios 4.0, I can scratch my music but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do everything. Yes, I know how to scratch, but music importing is somewhat difficult for me.

Please fix the options and stuff to the way it was, this version is hard to use at times. The first ios 4 update was cool, this kinda ruins it.

Loads of potential here...

Downloaded baby scratch the other day and looked at async's website to find this...and a double turntable for the ipad? Wicked sick.

It's a great app; there are a few things I'd like, such as pitch control (already coming), different style decks (1200 please!) and a the bug that slides the arm _under_ the record when you zoom in. That's REALLY annoying, especially since you can't zoom out and are forced to restart the app.

Overall, definitely a worthwhile app for anyone's collection.

Very nice once u figure out the controls. I'm actually happy there isn't any stuff built in that isn't needed such as instructions. You can just look at them on their website & there isn't a little "i" icon I'd only hit once. I look forward to future updates, hopefully with a few skins accessible through the settings. That would b tight. Or atleast colors other than red. Sounds like they're already working on the other features I'd want like pitch control.

Are these low reviews from trolls/competitors? All I can say is WOW! I have a high-torq turntable in my pocket!

I have an iPad so I went ahead and laid down the $25 for baby decks from the same dev.. It's a lot for an app... But I paid more yesterday for a movie that sucked.. And I think I still have a kernel of popcorn stuck in the back of my throat from yawning so hard. My iPad is now 2 decks and a mixer!

Finally!!!

The update that has been sorely needed has been added! Importing iPod tracks! I wish the import process was more consistent but is successful 85-90% of da time. Improve in next update? Try doubltapping the upper right hand button to switch tracks. Would be nice if devs could include a help menu. Everybody give this app a chance and the devs a cheerios!!! Thanx to apple as well!!! Prior to ios4, this iPod access was not possible due to apples restrictions. Hey Apple, everybody is a winner when you guys loosen your grip! Pretty good

Finally an app that has good scratching sounds, sensitivity and sounds like vinyl! Although I love this app but I have a few suggestions. Please put instructions cuz idk what exactly to do, also add more hip hop beats to scratch to like the ones in baby scracth, also add the recording of your own voice that you can scratch to like baby scratch and also change or let there be choices for how you want the platter to look cuz it's kinda weird baby scratch is more original and better and that's free! Also let us upload songs from our iPod directly to the app to scratch to or on. Once you do these I will give this app 5 stars! I'm addicted to this when I'm not scratching at home on my tables I'm scartching on my iPhone ! Peace -dj slump

Not bad!

I just realized that this app has a TIMECODE CONTROL TONE!!! Have dj software thats control tone compatible?? Virtual dj? Serrato? Use this app to control your timecode vinyl compatible dj software! Very similar to baby scratch, except I think the turny in baby scratch responds just a touch better, not much, just a lil...the only thing missing is a scratch sample, it would be cool of one of the tracks on the vinyl could have been a long scratch sound, those are the sounds that have the best scratch appeal when hip hop djing. I have yet to see where to record your own sample like on baby scratch, I'm either missing it, or it's not here, I'm not sure. You are basically paying to upload your own samples, and to have a more high tech looking skin, and more samples. PLEASE ADD A TRACK OF A LONG SCRATCH! Cool app, you will pay twenty bucks for a vinyl record with not even half of these samples, so if you look at it like that, you are actually getting a lot more for your money than if you buy a real record for scratching, plus, u don't have to worry about breaking any stylus or tearing up your real vinyl just to practice and have fun!

This is by far, my favorite app to mess around with whenever Im bored or really want to get into a scratch session. There are a few things the creators should take note of though, I know its not Baby Scratch but the record-loop button should be included (free app vs paid app, come on) Also, I still cant figure out how to successfully upload music via wifi like the description suggests. Link never seems to work, and this was the main reason for paying $4.99 for this app and thats very disappointing. Other than that its a very cool looking app, responsive turntables, and just a kewl app.

**Please fix the uploading problem and you will definitely get a 5* rating!!**

This app, just like it's baby brother 'Baby Scratch', is hella win. You can upload all your sounds so you can do whatever you want with it, be it play or production. Fantastic scratch engine and after a little experimentation you get used to it really fast. Also the dev seems good about updates and is great about customer service. Thanks y'all!

My only complaints are that you can't mirror the new zoom mode (which is a great feature on the most recent release) and that it is so techno looking. I agree with the other reviewer that I'd prefer a Baby Scratch skin. Still, it rocks.

Turntablism On The Go

Kinda like the Vestax QFO.

But just a simple design with a crossfader (Transform Button). Definitely needs a Pitch slider to increase and decrease speed. Needs a reverse crossfader (Transform Button) so that instead of muting the sound being scratched but giving it sound when the crossfader (Transform Button) is being pressed. For those who need BPMs this app isnt used for mixing just for the scratching enthusist. Who the hell counts BPMs?! Feel and scratch the sound you are feeling. A passion for music and turntablism as well as creativity gives this app a definite bang for just its simplicity. After reading and reading countless posts of people bot understandng the concept of the app is just plain not in the know of the Art of Turtablism. This app is more of a tool of self expression and creativity amongst the Turntable World.

6 STARS !!!

Tried baby scratch. Very neat and easy to use with exceptional control. Being a professional sound engineer I enjoyed the layout and just how easy to scratch it was. I was given Flare Acratch by some "very kind people" who I can't thank enough. Looks excellent. Still learning to use it. 5 stars so far... Have now been getting used to the app. THIS IS MULTILAYERED! Just when u think it can't get better it does. Zoom mode, Hamster Switch, Upload facility...I'm now seriously impressed. The guys at Flare have certainly given this a lot of thought. Just out of curiosity I tried a few free scratch apps out to compare... they are very nasty with no precision whatsoever. I am a bedroom producer in my spare time and I have remixes many tracks on Acid Pro, Sound Forge, Reason, Cubase etc and I have to say...if Flare continues this sort of work, the next gen iPhone can become a serious tool for djs and producers on the move. 6 STARS FROM ME. BUY THIS...IT'S THE NUMBER 1 APP IN ITS GENRE.

Needs pitch controll. And a list of your breakbeats or something rather than having to play through each one. Also spinning the record to pick a track is lame & there should be an option to make the volume fader either vertical or horizontal. Best dj app though keep the updates coming

Pure FUN!!

This app ROCKS!! I was eyeing this app for awhile but thought $8 was pretty steep... smart move making Baby Scratch free because it hooked me after about 10 mins and I took the plunge! This app is pure joy... I know next to NOTHING about scratching, but the touch interface just feels SO natural! Beautiful interface, everything is solid and smooth... well done, devs! Uploading tracks is simple and almost instant - probably the best it could be with Apple's restrictions. A few suggestions... a list for chooseing tracks & beats. The current method is nice, but time consuming to keep spinning the record around or to keep listening to beats to find the one you want. Maybe if we tap & HOLD the beat button or the label it can bring up a tracklist to choose from? Also, the visual style is awesome, but choices would be nice also. I'm saying this because I also love the Baby Scratch skin and it would be nice to have options! Speaking of Baby Scratch, it would be nice to have those beat loops here also. These are all small things, though. If anyone is considering this app, GO FOR IT... it's worth the $8! This app is going right on my front page.

Pleas make a larger transformer button, preferably on a side and large enough to crab scratch. Otherwise this is the beat scratch app around. I just have to have the ability to crab scratch or cuttings just not the same.

THIS IS what you need to get right here.

Great app. YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN .MP3 FILES. They give you an address to go to in the app where you can upload songs to a server and consequentially play them on the app. It really would have been nice if they included instructions to use this program but go to their website and they have them there. If you learn how to use this, you won't be disappointed...and it DOES deliver.

Only scratch app that tracks properly

This is the only useable table app in the app store! All the others are unuseable even for casual use.

A readme would be nice as it's not entirely intuitive, as would iPod playlist import.

Future updates promise a really stellar app thank you for making something useable, 10 bucks is nothing if it actually works. For the first tome I feel like a table app hasn't ripped me off

Light years ahead of other scratch apps.

This is not a toy! You can really get in there and cut it up. Hamster switch let's you reverse the transformer button like Grandmaster Flash's Flashformer (remember that?). Upload sounds and rip them apart with your fingers. And Flare only gets better with updates. It's already been improved vastly and gets 5 stars. Keep up the good work. Anyone that gives this a bad review don't know what's up.

Needs alot of work...

Kudos for a great attempt..... its a neat gimmick..but for any real DJ that scratches, don't expect to bust out complex scratch combos... although Flare probably has the better touch/latency out of all the "scratch" apps in the app store, it still needs alot of work... the latency makes the actual scratch sounds/patterns you try to do sound off beat when doing it to a beat... hopefully the updates help

This is great from what i have experimented with it but i do not know how to fully use this can you please put an instructions page and i think that alot of people that dont know how to put ur music on dont know what that website thing is so for them this is what you do you type the website i your computer and select the file you want ypu habe yo have wifi for this to work. Intil you put an instruction page and able to use library music this app is getting  insyead of 

best dj app on apps store. You truly scratch over your mp3s because it doesn't use iTunes music on your iPod or else it is fake,...I suggest goingto the website to see how to do it....beat app

If it let you use your library you wouldn't truy be scratchig your music...you really have to get this right people an not tating it low

Sure is fun! Always wanted to be a DJ...

Having a blast, I'm sure the real thing is much harder but without having to invest all the money and time, I can sit at home and actually make something that sounds decent. I have always been a fan of scratching! Buy this app, for the $$ It's worth it. Thanks! Need MORE sample options

GREAT APP!!!

yup, this is da app you definitely want to get if you love to scratch them turntables! feels like a real turntable, has great beats and you can also upload your own beats... i have this app and its addicting when u get into da rythem :) its simple once you play it a couple times, tho its hard to scratch like pros cus it feels so real haha! but yea its a great app! im looking forward in new updates!

I'm on board with this app. I have zero talent and can make some amazing things come out of my iPhone with this. I can only imagine how well it would work for someone with talent. Love that I can upload scratch tracks but needs a record feature and the ability to upload new beats. Keep up the good work!

Best Dj App Out!!!!!

I've tried all the other apps out there & this is by far the most realistic out!!!! Even allows the upload of your iTunes purchased music, haven't seen any other program allow that!!!!! Only thing I would recommend is a better way for selecting records, other than that A+++++
