I've reviewed this app several times. It is indispensable, for short trips and long trips. Just when I think it can't possibly get any more useful, an update comes out and I am happily astonished.

I have been using this app for several years. It keeps getting better! I love that you can use and modify old packing lists. I love how easy it is to add new items and modify items. Fantastic app!

Been using it for years and I wouldn't think of traveling without it - business, vacation, weekends away - I use it every time! AND I tell anyone who will listen how great it is. I don't stress over forgetting anything anymore!

This app is very useful and can be highly tailored according to your packing and traveling needs. I went through a bit of a learning curve to make it really work for me but once I've set it up the way it works for me, it's very easy from there. One star off for the visual style. It looks like an "old", non-modern app. Would like better color palette choices, fonts, etc.

Before getting this app, I left on a couple of trips forgetting to bring some crucial items. Now I rarely do that. The catalog of items you might pack covers most everything, but you can customize the catalog for items that may be unique to you. I've not even explored all the features, I just use it for pre-trip preparation and to pack.

I've used this app since it first came out. I do a lot of traveling and it is a godsend to have and to not have to reinvent the wheel with a new list each time. Adding and subtracting is easy. There are lots of features I don't use but it's nice to know they are there.

I travel professionally for business. I always used some sort of list program. To not would be insanity because you could actually have everything and you wouldn't know it. This program gives peace of mind.

Of all the programs I've used for travel Packing Pro is by far the most sophisticated, complete, yet simple to use. I've been using it for 4 years now and though it started out 5 star great, the author still keeps making it better.

And speaking as a professional speaker who also teaches organization and time management I highly recommend it.

It seems ad if the developers spend lots of time working to improve the app. I NEVER travel without using it, it's ad important to me as the documents and data or houses. This little brown suitcase is packed full of helpful stuff! I don't travel often but when I do—this quiet app is waiting to make it all go so much smoother.

If I used it more often I would get better at remembering how to do things with it. As it is, partly because of my shaky memory (a great reason to get and use this app!) and partly because of how much this app offers, I find it a tiny bit difficult to use. That's the only reason I didn't give Packing Pro 5-stars.

I've gone through several dedicated packing apps and also used more general apps. This is by far the easiest and most powerful one I've ever used. What is really telling for me is that I can go a few months without using it, then open it back up and have the interface make sense. I love the flexibility to make smaller sub-lists that I can piece together for a particular trip. I have ones for my base list, if I'm going to be doing outdoor activities, if I need to dress up, if I'm going to do serious photography, etc. It makes putting a rough list together for a particular trip really easy.

Great app. Does all it is supposed to. Somewhat awkward when adding unusual items or categories, but is ok once you figure it out..It is still a five star app..

I like the app in general, but the iCloud sync needs work. I frequently start a list on my iPad, then switch to my iPhone for the last few items (after I've packed my tablet). Frequently, items I have checked off on my iPad remain unchecked on the iPhone. After I bring up the list on my iPhone, with the incorrectly unchecked items displayed, if I go back to my iPad, those items are now unchecked there also! It's not clear what triggers a device to sync the list back to iCloud; apparently it doesn't always do that.

Easy to use and very useful I use this for every trip I take and have set up different categories for the trips (Europe, beach, skiing, golf trip, etc). Can check off as I pack and continue to the day I leave. Has been a tremendous help.

This is the best app for travel! It's super organized and customizable. When someone on the trip says "do you have a...?" I'm always the one who says yes because I pack so much stuff. This app makes it quick to pack by saving previous lists! Thanks and good job!

My three favorite things about this app are the master catalog, the ability to assign bags, and the ability to create new lists from old ones.

Together, those three features make it much faster to plan and pack for weddings, business trips, vacations and everything in between. I even use it for things that aren't technically "trips", like equipment and props lists for nearby photo shoots. Added bonus is that you have a checklist for when you're packing up to come home, too -- no more forgetting that small gadget or errant scarf.

Love it!! I went to Hawaii five years ago and forgot the charger for my super duper camera. Needless to say, I have very few pictures of that amazing trip. That's when I upgraded from a pen/paper packing list to Packing Pro. I have the app on both iPhone and iPad. They sync beautifully and keep me well organized before, during and after travel. When I'm out and about and I think something to add/do, I just add it to my phone (or search to confirm that it is in one of my lists now that I've used the app for so long). When it comes time to pack I open the iPad, place it on the nightstand and check things off as I place it in the suitcase. I pack for a family of four and this has certainly kept me from forgetting anything (as long as it is on my list). It was really easy to build a list with their starter list. And Packing Pro has done an amazing job improving the app over the years, keeping up with the users needs. Nowadays, it's even easier to travel, since I just copy a previous list for a similar trip, tweak a few things and bam, I'm ready to go. Thank you PP for helping me keep my sanity!!

I love this app. I have other similar apps for To Do lists and grocery lists. It this one is perfect for packing. I use it for pleasure trips, camping trips, etc. it makes sure that I don't forget to pack anything or forget to do something before I leave.

The features and functions are very useful and always improving.

Only four stars because, with all the great sorting ability, I can't sort by bag. Also, I'd be willing to pay for catalog images. ☺️ seriously, though...this is the best packing app I've found and I've looked at a lot of them.

I love this app. I have traveled for business for decades. A few years ago, I converted from my own elaborate spreadsheet I used from the 90's (actually printed off for each trip). This app covers everything. I've got lists for car travel, vacation, business, and for my husband. Fabulous app that keeps improving and evolving.

I have been using this app for years and it makes packing a breeze! Love how you can take a previous list and just tweak it for a new trip. It allows you to customize the list for each member of your family and I have found it to be a necessity for travel.

I've had this app for a few years and I like it a lot. As a touring musician I've traveled a lot in the last 25-30 years and I've always used checklists. Handwritten at first, then on printed spreadsheets, now this. So far I like this method, with this app, the best.

My only complaint/suggestion is that I wish there was a MacBook version available that I could sync with my iOS devices.

This is a great app. Use it for all of your trips. Much easier then the printed out copy I used to used. Easy to add items and has a bunch of items already in the program. I've used a couple of other programs and this is the only one worth it's cost. You will not be disappointed.

Packing pro has traveled with me several times on domestic and international trips. Consistently, it gets the job done, with excellent flexibility in setting up categories and lists. For example, view by the type of item (e.g clothing, electronics), or by which bag it is packed in (e.g suitcase, wallet), with check boxes throughout to ensure everything is remembered. This includes checklists for pre-travel planning, all in one place.

While I have simpler to do list apps for other things, this one offers the best balance of features and ease-of-use for travel in my opinion.

I really like this packing app. I use it whenever i have to pack the motorhome for trips. It helps me plan what i have to do to leave for vacation and then helps me make sure i have everything packed to leave on vacation.

I love this app. I have learned the hard way that not preparing a travel list resulted in leaving important things behind. I appreciate that I can create templates used over and over for specific needs since a trip to the beach for a week will differ from an overnight jaunt.

This may be the best iPad app ever! Easy to learn and use, but also very customizable and powerful.

We bought this for my husband's iPad where I spent a little time getting oriented and customizing the Master Categories so we can easily create new lists that suit our type of travel (hiking, photography, etc.). Found it very easy to set these up and liked the app so very much (love that it has lists of things to do to get ready before the trip as well as lists of things to pack). So, we bought another copy of the app for my iPad so either one of us can work on the lists and we can both share them.

When using iTunes didn't work for sharing, sent a question to the app support and they suggested using email. Turned out to be so easy: Jack sent the Master Categories list to me via email. When it arrived, I simply clicked on the attachment and Packing Pro launched and asked if I wanted to import (warning that it would overwrite my existing list as it should), I confirmed and it imported in a flash. All there, all working beautifully.

What a wonderful app! Powerful, easy to use, and solid (works beautifully). Well worth it!!

Namely, better handling of items in multiples. Example: my list calls for six pairs of socks. Four pairs go in checked luggage, one of which is still in the laundry while I pack, one pair goes in carryon in case of delay, and one pair on my feet to travel. I'd like to place three check marks when I pack the suitcase, a fourth when the last pair is ready, the fifth when I pack the carryon, then another when I dress for the trip, without having to enter socks in triplicate to account for the three different "bags." I'd pay extra for an upgrade that allowed that.

Other than that, it's a great app. I'd been looking for a long time for an app that lets me designate, and change, the bag that an item travels in. This one fills the bill. It's easy to use, neat in appearance, and very practical.

I've been using this app for years and it makes taking trips so much less stressful. I can start planning weeks (or sometimes months) in advance using great suggested lists (that help jog the memory) or re-use lists from previous trips. Makes it so easy! And when it comes to the actual packing, it's a breeze. Just look at Packing Pro, put the stuff in suitcases and/or bags and I'm off. No worrying whether I forgot something. It's really a wonderfully-designed app with a dedicated developer who keeps releasing update after update with great improvements. I'd highly recommend this app.

I won't use anything else to pack for my trips. You can copy lists from prior years and update as needed. For example, I copy my Spring Break list from the year before and take off items no longer needed such as swim diapers, and add new items like roller skates.

You can assign each item to a category, a bag and a person. These are totally customizable. I added a "kids" category so I can list all of e kids items together. I also added a "pool" category since I typically pack those items at the same time.

I even have a short list for afternoon trips to the pool. This app is THE best packing app you will find. You can even download to excel if you're OCD like me!

I'm one of those people who spend the first several hours of a trip wondering if I forgot to pack something, so I started making my own packing lists a number of years ago. I discovered this app last year and love it! It's so easy to make out my packing list for whatever trip I happen to be going on. I even used it to make a list for packing my hospital bag prior to giving birth to my son! The only thing I would like added is a simple way to "restart" a list. I do reuse the same list for a trip to the in-laws multiple times a year, and it would be nice to reset everything without having to manually uncheck every box. Other than that, it's fabulous!

I've been using this app since it first came out a LONNNGG time ago! I've traveled to many places and used it every time! From China, to West Africa, to Canada, and beyond this app has been truly a life saver. It helps you to remember what you need. You can plan ahead so you can put in here stuff little by little. Later on.. As you think of little stuff you might need you can add to your list. Then, for the stuff you need you can check off as you buy it. This app has especially been helpful know that I've got a 6 month old that I'll be traveling to Africa with next year! I've already started my newest list! I've been using this app for several years now. I travel a lot (15 or more business trips per year and equal amounts for personal travel) for business and personal trips and have found it works great for both types of travel. I like the fact you can add items for customizable items/lists as well as templates and items already within the app. I re-use the same lists over as I travel to several destinations per year. That allows me to retain tailored lists per location.

I highly recommend this app to frequent travelers whether it's airline travel, car travel, or cruise travel.

This app is fantastic. I downloaded some other similar apps and this one is by far the best. I only give it 4 stars because there are a few features I'd love to see that it lacks:

- there is a need to buy flag, but I would also like to see a 'need to wash' flag. I'm often doing laundry right before my trips for the clothes I'll need and it would be great to generate a list of items that need to go in the wash.

- you can sort by bag, but I'd also like to be able to sort by day or outfit. I usually pack outfits for specific days and my list of clothes is usually sorted in order of when I'll wear them. Often I'm wearing things on multiple days, so it would be great if this variable could have multiple values.

As an app to prepare a family or an individual to take any type of trip, this is an A+. Very flexible, and the templates already have ideas I would never have considered. BUT BEYOND this: It is a tool on how to prepare for any event, even as small as leaving the house for work or school. For individuals suffering with disorders of Attention, or anyone without perfect planning skills, this is a few dollars well spent.

I have wasted more time because of poor planning, and the planning apps have either too much detail or too little detail. This app finds a balance, and with a flexible and thought out relational database structure: I could even see using this as a preparation for submitting a proposal for research or adding items to adapt this to the needs of a professional preparing to present at a conference or even print out proof to a doctor of your great work. I know my review has the enthusiasm not consistent for apps of this nature, but I can tell you that as an academic researcher & professional always on the go... It may just prevent my almost daily battles with ripped lists, lost items and unprepared appointments. I use my real name for my reviews, and stand by it.

This app has been a huge help to my family. I use the automatically generated list as a starting point, then edit it to personalize it. I can then save that list and use it as a base for other trips. I use the sort feature and then export so each member of my family gets their own list. At the very end, we sort for the unpacked items and do the final packing. Then on the trip, I add in anything we forgot so we remember it next time. Very powerful app.

My husband and I have used PackingPro for several years, and appreciate its features and support. Glad to see the newest version corrected an issue with scrolling to the bottom of a long list.

Some of our trips include a lot of specialized gear. For example, I can quickly assemble a packing list for a road trip with camping, hiking, sea kayaking, gourmet camp cooking, and Plein air painting; I have the pertinent gear lists saved as categories. Since some trips are recurrent, I have entire trip packing lists with stock and custom sub categories saved as templates.

Bottom line: The app is easy to use, and can be as detailed as you need it to be.

This is by far the best freakin' packing app I've ever used and I've used a few! It's drastically improve the quality of my travel! Before I downloaded this app I find myself forgetting to do things that I needed to do, bring them to leave, nothing in the right sequence is simply not bringing something that I really needed. Now I don't have to backtrack just to take care of things or correct mistakes nor do I have to buy something that I forgot to bring or pay extra for something that I could've pay less because now I'm reminded or on time. Being more organized in my travels means less stress and that is totally worth the price I paid for this! Thanks Quinn!

I'm a serious traveler for work and for pleasure. This app is a great. It helps you get organized before the trip and helps you find things during the trip. I got this many versions ago and it just keeps getting better. Now I have picture of that thing I can't ever remember the name of in the list. I can export lists and you can have lots of different lists (email or csv) to others going on the trip to help them pack. It helps me remember what to restock in my travelers medicine kit. Now it has reminders which helps me remember to get things before we leave.

Packing is easy because you can set it in a mode where it only shows what's missing. So check it off and it disappears. So much better than a checklist. And it syncs between your phone and iPad so you can run around the house with just the phone. This is must have for any traveler.

When I first tried this app I was using a checklist Excel file I printed out. This looked helpful on my then brand new iPad. It turned out to be so simple, so well organized I switched to it & never looked back.

The best thing I can say is that I now totally depend on it. The more I use it the more I fine tune my various travel lists.

Let's face it, at least for me, figuring out what to pack, making sure it's enough AND fits in the suitcase is a pain. And I'm. Always worried I forgot something. Not anymore.

And if I realize there is something I need while traveling I just add it to my lists.

Very nice APP for planning a trip, large or small. I have made a “basic pack list” that starts as my base for short 2-3 day trips. I than add on specific items for that trip and save it as a new trip list.

I gave it 4 stars only because it could be little more streamlined for an iPad APP - In fact it looks more like a Mac desktop app. There is a pretty long user guide that you open within the app that at times I really needed. It is also little cumbersome when adding a new category and packing items - at times you are not sure if you are creating a new category or a single item (funny, “Any List” suffers from this same problem!) But overall I like it a lot and have used it 4 times since getting it back in May 2013

Update... It is really a 5...

Great support from Quinn (I hope he takes some of the suggestions) but the tool is really more flexible than I thought and with Quinn's expert advice I can now really use PackingPro and bag another task mgmt tool I was force-fitting my packing mania into. Thanks Quinn! Of course the suggestions implemented would make it a 6 :-). And oh yeah the "move", "copy", etc function is there.. just a little obscure until you know it's there... It seems out of place it terms of the style, if there were one non-rave comment to make..

Ok, I'm a great tool junkie, admittedly, and I REALLY like this PackingPro Tool. Candidly I'd discarded it a couple of releases ago, but, now I'm wow'ed... Excellent flexibility for structure, naming and contents.

I'm a big TaskPro user, and I'd love to see some of their capability (like in this case, ability to move or copy an ITEM between CATEGORIES, or TYPES).

Also ability to have a trip daily wear structure capability... On Monday am! Monday mid-day, Monday pm for instance... And be able to more easily group and select against a per-day clothing structure ... A lay-up 5 stars with some more function !!! I'm close to 5 now, but wanna see the kind of capability I want ... And I travel EVERY week...

I've used this app many times to pack for cross Atlantic trips. I tend to forget the little things, and this app has a extensive list of those very items from which to choose. Since I started using this app, I have never forgotten those little tidbits I may need (IE: q-tips, leave in conditioner, etc). You know the ones that are always hard to describe in a language not your own. I love how you can check off items as or once you pack as a double check feature. The ability to forward lists has also been helpful for family traveling with me. Get this APP if you travel. You won't be disappointed!

I have used this app before but never found it so valuable as now when I'm traveling on a 12-day trip through Europe with our family of 4 (including a 3- and 6-year old)! I made a packing list for each family member and what bag it's in so I can go back and check off each item as I pack. It also allows to enter the weight of each item so, if you are really a planner, you can weigh everything and know when you're over weight and instead of eliminating random items, you can select items by weight to keep those overweight fees at bay! It also has a place or valuing each object, God forbid you lose your luggage and you have to make the insurance claim. Excellently made...they've thought of everything.

I love this app! I used it for the first time and was able to be completely relaxed about my prep and packing. I appreciate the pre-trip checklist items with all those miscellaneous things you're running around and trying to do before your trip like stop the mail, empty the fridge, make pet arrangements, throw out the garbage, etc. I was able to create a "Master" checklist template with all the items I need for a big trip and an "Essentials" checklist template with the minimum items required for a weekend getaway. I was able to add my own checklist items to the already extensive Catalog that comes with the app. The fact that I can have this list on phone makes for easy last minute shopping or errands. Sync over the cloud is a great feature as I which from device to device. Thank you for the thought that was put into this app and the existing Catalog.

Our family has been using QuinnScape's Packing Pro and Shopping Pro apps for some time and have found them to be reliable and feature rich with a friendly user experience. Upon downloading the apps we were able to use the extensive, pre-installed packing and shopping Categories and Types right away. With the help of the excellent Help information we were later able to import and add our earlier packing and shopping databases from Bento and Excel. QuinScape provides quick responses to questions and app updates arrive in a timely manner. As we become more experienced with Packing Pro and Shopping Pro we are very pleased with the various tools provided to maintain the data catalog and to create new and reuse previous packing lists. We look forward to future developments of Packing Pro and Shopping Pro.

This is a truly useful app that really does help you organize without having a steep learning curve. It's very easy to set up, extremely customizable and you can also make changes on the fly when working with a list. The display is excellent and it's easy to check on the spot to see where you're at in your plans.

The initial suggested master list is also very helpful and you can then tailor it to your needs. There's also a category for things that you might want to do during your trip or on a particular day, so it can also function as a kind of travel agenda (e.g., make restaurant reservations, get tix for show, look for new hotel, etc.).

This app is very customizable. I suggest spending a little time to set up the master catalog to include and organize items, categories, and to-do lists that reflect your travel needs. For example, before I went on a ski trip, I added skis, goggles, etc. to the master catalog, so the next time I go on a ski trip I know everything I need can be added to the list. I have quirky things I like to pack (like an extension cord) and that is now in my catalog so I'll never forget it. This app would not be worth it if you are going on one trip, but if you travel at least a couple of times a year, get the app and customize it. It's well worth it.

I read a review that said some had complained about the app having too many options. I can understand what they were saying but I couldn't disagree more. Yes, it will take you a few minutes to get used to all the selections and options you can use to create your personalized packing list. But shouldn't the app be one step ahead of you? Why would you want an app to limit your creativity?

You will probably be creating and deleting items for your lists several times before your satisfied with your results. After one run through of your first list you'll realize how much more detailed you could have made it and go back the next day to tweak it. Before long your a wiz and creating half a dozen lists for all kinds of regular trips. It isn't a bad thing to have options. There's a learning curve but it isn't hard by any stretch. So go ahead and try it.

I've always been a list maker, so when I got an iPad shortly before leaving on vacation I knew I wanted to find an app that would help me stay organized with my packing and pre-trip plans. This app is perfect for that! At first I was a little hesitant to pay when there are lots of free list apps (and the Reminders app that comes with iPhone/iPad, which is okay). However, this is much more than a list app. I love that I can break my list down into specific categories, sort by several different options, keep track of packing and to do lists, add my own items, assign items to specific people, and share my lists through email. I also set it up to sync with iCloud, so I can check my list on my iPhone, or add to it if I remember something while I'm not near my iPad. Definitely worth the price!

This app is a must for travelers. Whether you travel only on occasion or frequently, this app will make getting ready for your trip a breeze. Reminders for virtually everything from taking out the trash and turning off appliances at home, to setting your out-of-office email notification at work and every item imaginable to pack in your luggage. It allows you to customize number of travelers, gender, and even pack for certain weather... Love this.

Did I mention you can punch in your packing list on your easy to read iPad and have it synch automatically to your iPhone?

What a terric, comprehensive App. I do quite a bit of travelling and this will certainly serve me well. It's so convient to have along with you with it being only a touch away. Of what I understand the Dev. just finished giving the App. a major facelift. I like that. Their not content to sit on their hands and are intent on keeping it fresh. It looks great and very easy to navigate, plus it's now on sale. Anyway, fine job and thank you for the sale price....

UPDATE: The Devs. do a fine job of updating and continue to keep this app. current and fresh. Hats off to them for doing this, because so many of them just collect their money and could care less about it.

This app helps me to remember the little details and to take care of certain tasks before leaving. It is easy to mark what you need on your list and to check off what you have already packed. It is generally easy to add items to the master list. There are a lot of places where the same items can be added to a list, which often causes me to duplicate items throughout my list, so I just have to check them off in more than one place once I have packed that item. This is not a huge deal, and I would rather check off an item more than once than forget the item. I do not see how to organize items by person, which is really important for a mother packing for herself and multiple children. This app makes you list the number of items you need, such as 4 pants, 5 shirts, 2 shoes, etc. I do not necessarily think about my clothes for a trip in this way. I prefer to be more detailed with my lists. I tend to think about each day of a trip, whether there are any special events on those days, what outfit(s) I need for each day or certain events, and then list the specific matching pieces of an outfit -- black pants, red top, red necklace and earrings, black heels, black hosiery, etc. I find that I cannot really use this app for such a list, and I often use paper to write down the specific items in each outfit that I want to pack.

I do a lot of travel for business and don't really need a list for this because it comes pretty natural to pack a bag and hit the road. We recently bought an RV and suddenly the world changes. Now we need to plan not only our cloths and toiletries but food, pillows, blankets, plates, well you get the idea. Your packing a house for a house trip. Then there is all the stuff you need to remember when you start out and when you leave a camp site. Although this app isn't built specifically for such an undertaking, I have created a list that covers what we need to take, what we need to do before we leave the house, what we need to take and secure before we leave a camp site plus a check list of things to review ( such as tire pressure and oil levels) before we drive off. It's amazing the length of my list and I could never remember all of it without this app. If it was modified for RV'ers it would get 5 stars. It's pretty close to perfection in my book.

I've come to depend on Packing Pro to keep significant parts of my work and leisure trip preparations "out of my head" and in a trusted place. With Packing Pro I know that what I'll need to do--not just packing, but also pre-trip preparation "to-do" items--is there waiting to be checked off. So I was really frustrated with myself when, a few weeks after upgrading from an iPod Touch 2 to an iPod Touch 4, I realized I'd forgotten to export my lists from Packing Pro on my Touch 2 to transfer to my Touch 4. Yikes!

I was able to use SuperCrazyAwesome's iPhone Backup Extractor to find a ".plist" file from the iTunes backup of my old Touch 2 with my old Packing Pro data, but there wasn't anything I could do with it. I sent it to the Packing Pro developer, and within hours Quinn had figured out how to get my data in a form ready to import into Packing Pro (he'd never had to do this before). Now, that's awesome support!

I love this app. I have been making packing lists for years- writing lists on notecards, tablets, saving lists on my computer... Now Packing Pro makes it so much easier to create & save my lists. Plus, i don't have to worry about forgetting my list on the table or the top of my dresser- bc I never am without my phone! I can create categories & new items, edit existing categories & rename them too. The app is also very easy to use & navigate through. I highly recommend this app for the frequent traveler or for list-makers like me!

One slight glitch I have noticed, which I'm sure is a bug that can be easily fixed... In the settings, you can edit the theme, colors, & fonts within the app- well, for some reason, the background color I selected will change back to default every time I close the app. Not a big deal at all, but thought I'd say so for developers sake. Other than that- love it!!

EVERYTHING IS GONE!!! After hours of effort all is lost. Contacting the developers but this is RIDICULOUS!!! DISREGARD EVERYTHING BELOW!!!

After using the app a little more, I did find the option in settings to turn off the auto capitalization which is a big help. I did find another time consuming issue that will keep me from a five star rating... If you use the "type" field, adding the type to a new item is cumbersome. You have to add the item, then go into your list and open the item to add the "type". Having the "type" field available when you are creating a new item would be very helpful. Otherwise, so far, so good.

I've only scratched the surface but so far it looks like this app is better than the other travel list apps I've tried. However, one thing has proven to be a bit irritating... When you start with one of the templates, all items in the list are all lowercase. No problem with that at all but when you add items to your list the default setting is to capitalize the first letter of the item. If you prefer a consistent format (which lets face it, those of us anal enough to buy a travel list app probably prefer consistency with such things) you are forced to manually remove the "shift" before adding your item. While this doesn't seem time consuming, when you are creating a list for the first time and adding many items, it really adds up.

I'll update when I've done more, but I'm hoping for a quick fix on this one.

Incredibly complicated, but worth figuring out as the resulting list serves as a good packing checklist. Could use an interactive tutorial on startup. The Category/Type/Item organizational structure is rigid and exhausting to populate. And while I love the idea of the Expert List, I was disappointed by its limited customizability. I was anticipating some kind of truly interactive family packing tool with Lonely Planet-like depth but if you're not going to even ask the ages of my children (and then provide, say, a useful list of baby items parents might not think of based on travel to a 2nd world country) then how "expert" can this advice really be? Even if it's not international travel, the kids list should include items that take into consideration what it's really like to travel with kids (e.g. "Stuffed animal from home"), but instead it seems no thought was put into the expert list or templates when it came to family travel needs. If you're a parent travelling with your children, you're better off creating your list from scratch.

While packing for yet another trip (my wife and I seem to find ourselves going somewhere just about every month), I had a sudden realization about how much I rely on this app and how I hadn't yet written a review of it (sorry Quinn). I've had this app since the first version, and can really see all the work that Quinn has put into it. It really just keeps getting better and better and better, and is a fantastic little gem. While I won't pretend that I suddenly love packing, I will say that I love putting together my pack list, and can do it for any trip in just a few minutes. Keep up the good work, and thanks for such a great app.

This is exactly what I was looking for in a packing app. We go camping all the time, and the apps I tried before were not sufficient. In one app I tried, I accidentally clicked a box and everything deleted. I was so upset and knew I needed to find something better. Then I found this app. I am often skeptical when I try out apps, wondering what it is lacking or is it a waste of money etc. I downloaded this app, and set up my packing lists, and I was AMAZED! This app puts you in control. Create the lists as detailed as you want. And you can keep it forever and reuse your lists. Its as easy as removing all checkboxes with one click. Editing/ adding items are easy. You can prioritize/organize items by putting them in the order you want by simply hitting edit and dragging. You can create lists from scratch or by using a template they have or by using an existing list you created as a template. The ICloud makes this a complete package. Using icloud, it takes 10 seconds to refresh...that is controlled by apple's IOS capabilities. Its not a fault of this app. But whats 10 seconds? Thats nothing! I emailed the developer and got a response very quickly. They really care about this app and our ideas. My search is finally over! Now I can use my time camping and having fun, because everything I need is in this app. I will never forget anything ever again for our trips! I am truly excited about this app and recommend it to everyone!

I travel alot both for work and pleasure. And, being single and having no one else to help me remember, i need to make lists for my trips. Before this app ever came out I made packing lists and "to do" lists before and after the trip. I was ecstatic to find this app that already thought like I thought. I have been able to use this app immediately only adding very little to the already extensive built in items lists to choose from. I give it four stars only because of the lack of syncing to iCloud without resorting to using a "contact" and the lack of printing options. Even so, this is a fantastic app and truly worth every penny.

I am a female business traveler and purchased the app hoping for a simple packing list for my weekly trips. I was rather dismayed to see that the business templates listed "briefs, shaving cream, pants, razors" and other exclusively men"s items. I had to extensively modify and customize for it to be useful to me. As a female business woman I'm not wearing "Sarongs, bathing suits and Evening gowns" to work!!!!!! Please remember that women are a large group of businesspeople. If this app is going to appeal to both groups,extensive modifications need to be made to the templates. I find it rather more complicated with the update. When I want to look at or select a template I am forced to name and date it before I can see it, and if I;m on one it doesn't readily change to a different one. I'd really like to see it re-simplified. It's a great idea and could be useful, but I can"t give it 5 stars yet,

I love the ease of adding items to the packing list. I have used other applications, but they took forever to add anything. It was one at a time…you added a shirt, now go back through the process to add one type of pants, now back again to add shoes, etc, etc.

This becomes so much better if/when they add the ability to sync. If this would sync to dropbox and allow me to use my iPhone or iPad, depending on which one is available!! That would be awesome. Plus, if I could sync lists between me and a co-worker, traveling companion, friend, etc. Then, we could make sure we didn't forget the sunscreen because one of use checked it off on their device. Maybe that's pipe dreams, but I know that I enjoy the app right now and look forward to continued improvements!!

This app is super great for helping with remembering all the things you need to take with you on a trip. I pack each weekend so I can use the same list again and again. When I discover something I forgot to pack, I can add it immediately to the list and this quickly eliminates doing without next trip. You might ask; why not just use a piece of paper. I have found that having a list on my iPhone is always handy and with me at all times. The app has suggestions for packing that you might never think of so this allows you to consider all options before leaving. The color arrangement can be set to your liking, the catagories are flexible and you have the option for writing in any unique catagory or items that you need to remember. You can start a new list for each trip and save the list to use on the same trip next year (with updates included from what you missed on the last trip). This app is really worth the price when you consider the peace of mind you have knowing that you packed everything you need for an enjoyable trip.

I travel often for work, to a range of climates -- so while some of the things I pack are consistent, some vary. Perhaps I'm not using the app correctly, but I want to be able to go through the entire catalog list, checking off the things I need for a paricular trip -- then as I pack those items, have them disappear from the list or fade back. As it is, I seem to have to load the entire catalog list, then check off the things I don't want to take in order to create the list of things I DO want to pack. That's too cumbersome. For instance, I keep a toiletry bag packed that I just refill -- the total list of items is 70-long! I created a list called Refill -- but apparently will need to re-create it for each trip, going through all 70 items to narrow my to-be-refilled list down to just the four or five things I need to address. Am I just doing something wrong?

I used this for a week long vacation across country and it really helped tremendously! It's best if you spend a little time with it up front and customize it, then as you use it, you won't need to do that as much. I've also used it as a gig check list. I'm a musician, so depending on the gig, I have different needs from full PA system, to just a monitor, keyboard and vocal mic. So I created category called "Gig Equipment". Then in "Types" I listed "keyboard", then "keyboard items" are all the cords, stands, etc needed for keyboard. Then within "Types" i've done the same for "vocal mic" "speakers" "merch".... etc... Now, when I have a gig, I open up the app and make a new list by checking off the "types" I need and it automatically adds all the detailed "items" for that piece of equipment. It takes the stress out, because if I forget one important cord, I'm screwed! Hopefully you get the idea and can apply it to your own lists.

If you find robust apps difficult or are uncomfortable with exploring/customizing apps, then it may be over your head and might find a simple spreadsheet easier. If you hate bulky, cumbersome Excel but like streamlined solutions, try it out.

Near the end of a trip, I developed the habit of writing down everything I brought and evaluating how often each item was used. I note if I had too few of an item, if I could have used something I didn't bring, or, with great prejudice, if I could have left something behind or taken fewer. This was a time consuming task as just gathering a writing implement and paper doesn't always come easy to a traveler. That's where I found value in this app. Its flexible enough to add items not in it's database. It can create dozens of packing lists: I use names like "business international cold", "scuba live-aboard", "national family warm", etc. It does what it needs to do, and it does it well.

Intuitive and well designed app. I travel a lot--short trips, long trips, backpacking, trips to nice hotels, different trips where what you take varies a lot. This app lets you easily generate a trip-specific packing list. What I really like is having a cup of coffee, thinking about a trip, and then revising the list for that trip to take only what is needed. My wife packs the ordinary way, from memory. I pack from my packing list. My wife takes hours and packs "heavy". I am done very quickly and pack "light". The developer has made recent nice improvements, including designating what bag certain items go into. The developer even personally responded to my suggestion for an improvement in the app that would show what each of your bags will weigh when packed. This is an excellent app and worth the money.

I was skeptical of this app because I am a seasoned traveler. I know how to pack. Just for kicks I downloaded the app and had at it. To make a long story short, I have a 3 day, 7 day and 14 day trip lists traveling by myself, with my family and just my wife. The ability to clone lists is a great feature. You can have a basic list easily tailored to a longer or shorter time, different climate or country. Imagine preparing for a trip without any thought except your first meeting or destination. The kids get to "check off" their lists playing a game of who can pack the best and take the pressure off of the adults. It is fun for them and heaven for us.

I dropped an email to the developer about some additional icons. Imagine my surprise when I opened a personal email from the creator thanking me for my suggestions and what was being done about it.

Start with one of the suggest sample lists, have the app create a list for you, or start from scratch. Use the app and take the "I forgot" out of travel.

It is a 5 star winner for me and I am sure for you.

I originally purchased this app several months ago prior to a trip to visit my wife's family. Although my wife and I both have iPads, the app in its iPhone/iPod format looked promising and I believe it would have been useful if either one of us had taken the time to use it back then. The key word is time, and when it ran short the path of least resistance was to simply start loading up the car and forget about the app until next time. A few months and a thousand apps later, I see that Packing Pro is now a univeral app with an iPad specific user interface. Suddenly this app makes me say "wow". On the iPad it's tranformed to a whole new level of clarity and usefulness. More information, the right amount of it, is visible on the screen at any given moment. Enough of a list is visible to give a big picture view of items to gather without making me feel distracted or overwhelmed. The Pro level database is usefully complete by itself. At a glance it seems well thought out and I wouldn't be surprised if most people find it suitable for their travel needs as well.

Have been using this app for about a year now. Works great and really helps out for preplanning a trip or vacation. So many things to do, so much to pack, you're bound to forget things. This app will organize it all for you and give you the peace of mind that you didn't forget anything. Don't get some of the reviews who say the app picks things for you? Granted there are pre installed items, and to do lists, but they can be edited or you can create your own categories, items, etc. Sometimes it helps to know how the program works before you write a negative comment. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. Anyway, bottom line this app does what it's supposed to and dies it well, and at $2 it won't break the bank. Keep up the good work developers. You have a winner app here.

I've been looking at various packing-list apps, and it's surprisingly hard to find one that affords both ease of data entry and flexibility to add your own items. This one comes close. I like the ability to edit the interface (though it wouldn't be necessary if the default were not so stunningly ugly--seriously, what is wrong with white background, black text, and Helvetica?). But the number of misspelled items and categories is really maddening--they can be edited, but it's a pain. Please, developer, have a literate person review the list before the next upgrade. (Start with books and stationEry items, not stationary.)

Also--the checkboxes need to be bigger (and the checks smaller). If you tap on them and miss, you spend a lot of time navigating back from the detail screens.

I LOVE this app! It is very customizable, visually pleasing, intuitive, and easy to use. I have only 2 suggestions that would make it perfect:

1) Add the ability to assign item values in the master catalog instead of only in the packing list. Currently, I must re-enter the value of an item each time I add it to a different list.

2) Add the ability to assign items to 'bags' in a packing list and sort packing lists by 'bags', as well. This would be particularly helpful if the airline lost one of your bags - you would have an instantaneous list of what was in that particular bag to submit a claim. It would also help to quickly locate an item if you have multiple bags and aren't sure which one you packed it in.

Add these functions and it will be a 5-STAR app!!!

I am a frequent traveler and am loving this app. It took me a little bit to figure out how everything worked (no instructions needed) but is well worth a little time. The best thing about it is that it is already loaded with tons of suggestions for things to pack and it is simple to delete items and add new ones. You can also have several packing lists going, start one from scratch, and see a sample trip. Now whenever I think about yet something else I want to add to the list for my upcoming trip, I just pull out my iPhone & add it - no little scrap of paper to loose somewhere. Finally, I love that you can customize the way the screen looks with different colours which is minor to some people, but I really like it.

I've been using Packing, and loving it, for about a month and a half. I decided to try Packing Pro, and it is even better. Both programs work by allowing you to create packing lists for an upcoming trip, or as a general list to use over and over. There are templates, or you can start from scratch and add items from a catalog that you navigate by category. In Packing Pro, the layout can be customized to simplify your list, or make it a tracker for every item and quantity of every item. The Pro version adds a packing list wizard (my words, the app calls it the Expert) which generates a starting list based on the number of adult males and females, number of children, and length of trip. You can also make travel-prep lists (my words again) so you remember to get a pet-sitter or stop you mail, etc, before your trip comes up. Also, I've made recommendations to the developer, and she emailed a reply and added my recommendation. Recommended highly, worth every cent!
