Although I love to be able to have an app that I can upload photos from my phone easily, I've been disappointed with any prints I've had done. Graduation announcements were blotchy. Vacation photos were not cropped to my specs, were blurry or off color. It seems like the bigger Shutterfly gets, the worse the quality.

I've always used Shutterfly for my photo needs and have been pleased with all their promos, discounts, and products until recently I had my first issue two times in a row. I place my print order either through my computer or directly from my phone and when my pictures arrive, they are missing people and the pictures are cropped in a way that only display have of the shot. Where's the rest of my friends and family? They disappeared from the pictures ordered online that looked normal the way I was expecting to get them. ONE MORE SHOT SHUTTERFLY BEFORE I TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.

I have used Shutterfly to print calendars for family members for the past few years. I usually do slightly different calendars for each of them so I have a few projects each time. This past Christmas one set of calendars were printed as 2016. In December of 2016. They claim it was my mistake, and if it was that is unfortunate. I didn't have the problem on all the rest of the calendars. The offered to reprint them for me at 50% the cost, which ended up being more than what I originally paid because of the promo codes at the time. I didn't reprint them.
Currently, I'm trying to print from the app. There are promos for 10 free magnets, and 101 free prints, plus one free 16X20 print that expires tomorrow. The app keeps telling me that there is an error and it can't take me to the check out page. Ive tried to contact customer service and they said I should receive a response in 24 hours. It with tomorrow being a holiday I won't have time to mess with it. I want to continue doing business with Shutterfly because they make great gifts for the grandparents but this is getting increasingly frustrating.

The most basic function of a photo service app is the ability to easily and quickly upload your photos. This app utterly fails at this most simple of tasks. Whereas other apps allow you to select photos from your camera roll or other albums you've created in the photos app, The Shutterfly app does not preserve your album organization at all. Instead, it offers you a LONG list of albums, which the app itself seems to create artificially, organized by date or album title. Some of the albums are albums you created, such as "Kids birthday party," but others are just dates that don't correspond to albums in your photos album, like "Nov 3, 2012." That might be tolerable, except that even these are not arranged in any sensible order. They're neither arranged alphabetically nor by date. End result? You go to upload your photos and are greeted with a list of THOUSANDS of albums you didn't create, in no particular order, which would take hours of scrolling to try to find the photos you're looking for.
Come on, Shutterfly. This is pathetic. Why would you even bother releasing such a poorly conceived app? This app is a detriment to your business, not a help.
My recommendation is to either just use the browser version on your desktop, or use another photo service.

This app is super slow and frustrating to use. I made a photo book, and there was SO MUCH lag as I went from page to page, when I attempted to change the layout, and when I tried to change photos. Even scrolling through photos and layouts took forever because they kept freezing. Also, this was my second attempt at making this book, because the first time I took the photos straight from my camera roll on my phone, which apparently causes the order to restart over and over at the production facility until someone notices and cancels the order. Apparently you have to upload photos to the app first and then take the photos straight from there in order for it to work. The only reason I used the app again to make the book is because when I called customer service to see what on earth was going on with my first order, which was already three days past the guaranteed delivery date, I got a full refund for the first order and credits for a free book and free rush shipping for a new order. Five stars for customer service, 1 star for the app itself.

Love how easy to use it was to select photos and to build magnets. I reeeally liked how it saves your place in your photo roll as you select each photo and then go back to select more so you don't have to scroll a whole lot to get to a certain place. It doesn't work as smoothly for photo books on the app though. I wasn't able to hold and click into a photo to enlarge. I don't like how you can't easily move photos and swap them from the pages. Once I chose a photo to replace on a page, the original photo was deleted and not swapped. I couldn't remember what it was originally and it had taken forever to carefully select the photos for the book in the beginning. Also on the bottom there's a bar to select photos to replace on the pages, seems like if you accidentally move it from the bar it's deleted? Once again, I wish it saved my original selection of photos for the book in a folder or something. And that it doesn't delete from it unless you choose to remove, and it also prevents duplicates.

I am very pleased with Shutterfly! I ordered address labels and magnet for free (one of the deals they had) and just had to pay for shipping for both. I paid about $6.98 for shipping $7.55 with taxes. They shipped the address labels with in a couple of days through the post office. Then it took them a couple of weeks to make the magnet. They shipped it as soon as it got done next day air saver. With ups. Which means I received the package the day after they finished it. The best part I like i about the company is that this was done at no additional cost to me. Now the shipping I paid for most likely covered the cost of shipping the first packed, however the second shipment would have cost a little over $30 that the company covered just to get me the package as soon as possible. So far I think everyone has liked Shutterfly and this just won me over. They are a very good company and make very good products.

I have always rated Shutterfly with a 5 star review......until recently. When I try to send pictures to share with others so they can view them & place orders, Shutterfly DOESN'T always send them. It's even more frustrating since their site stated they were shared successfully. So now when I send the pictures I have to txt or call people asking them to let me know if they don't receive them. If it was unsuccessful I have to resend them. I have checked the box requesting a copy to be sent to me yet I don't always receive them. I have called their tech support twice. The first time they said they had to update my profile, wait two weeks and see if the problem was resolved. It wasn't. Called them again and I was told that I had to send them to each person individually. So I did. Not convenient since I use to be able to click on the names from my Shutterfly address book and hit 'send' just once. Yesterday I wanted to send them to 6 people. I sent them individually as they instructed but when I tried the send the 6th one a red note popped up and said I could only send 5 per hour. Frustration plus!

Somehow when I ordered my last book the photo file I sent to Shutterfly got corrupted, but it wasn't something that could be seen until you hit the edit button. The first call to the company the person reviewed my concerns and just reordered the book and sent it on to me rush.
Upon receipt of the replacement book I noticed it look exactly like the first attempt, and called the company back, the representative, examined the new facts and that is where they discovered even though the pictures seemed to be alright,they had some how been corrupted, and explained the problem to me and how I could correct it for the six pages which were incorrect, and then just resend the file to them and they were going to expedite the printing and shipping of the corrected book at no cost to me.
After working for 35 years in the film business for Eastman Kodak, it was obvious to me that the Shutterfly people understand the value in a satisfied customer, and they truly stand behind their products.

Only good for prints, not photobooks (and probably anything else)

I was very upset to have taken a long time perfecting my photobook with pictures from my trip, to choosing the right background & layout for each page and checking the preview plenty of times before actually purchasing the book to make sure it's exactly how I want it as printed. And low and behold upon receiving my order, the backgrounds, layouts and pictures were wrong & only a few of the pages were as I made them and even a good handful of pictures weren't even in the book. So, disappointing. There needs to be a better way for the customer and Shutterfly to double check each page at checkout to make sure it's as created by the customer. Even with the 100% satisfaction guarantee, there was no communication on what was wrong about my photobook and then I receive an email saying that a new book is being made. Waste of time. I don't want it because it's still not what I created. The preview of my photobook in the app is not the same preview on the site and thats unfortunate and doesn't make any sense to me. Shutterfly is only good for its prints it seems.

Took me over four hours to compose a 24 page book of 40 images. Toggling back and forth between showing all pages and a specific page for editing often resulted in app ending, requiring logging back in and finding book and continuing. Managing which images were where you wanted them and those not properly placed was a nightmare with some images duplicated and others mysteriously disappearing. In that respect I would have designed this so you stated how many pages you wanted to start with and which images to bring over to work with. Then stipulate the format of each page and then drag the images from the unused image pile to it. As placed in the book the image would disappear from unused pile thus assuring all were used but not duplicated. Images should also be draggable out of a page and to another or back into the unused pile. Additional pages can be added or deleted as necessary. Current way of starting with a full book of random pictures takes much longer to rearrange and quite confusing to manage.

I have been with Shutterfly ever since Kodak shut down. At first I was hesitant because I loved the Kodak site. But soon I learned to love Shutterfly. Lately, however, I have had a problem which has prevented me from creating forever memories. It has to do with "cookies". I only have an iPad. I don't know if this is the problem but it was never a hassle before. I've had an iPad for years and I never had a cookies problem until the last 6 months or so. Shutterfly has lost a lot of business from me due to this. If someone knows what I'm doing wrong....please let me know. I've gone into settings and changed the cookies section just as advised but to no avail. So...to make my long tale a short story....I recommend Shutterfly to everyone who yearns to keep and share memories, in all shapes, forms and gifts. I brag to my friends and share with them all the beautiful, personalized creations I've made through Shutterfly.

I really love some of the products. I have created/ ordered several books, cards, and take advantage of many of the free offers they sent me. However, they got three stars because when they offer something for "free" it's not. They're shipping and handling charges are ridiculous. The whole reason I started using Shutterfly was because I received an offer for a free photo book. I worked on this book for a week solid. Very happy with the way it looked and so I proceeded to the checkout page where I found out that my free $30 photo book would actually cost me $21 in shipping and handling costs. As a result, I only use the site when I have a free item to order because otherwise the pricing is ridiculous. When compared to other sites it seems to me there making up for their "free offer" by just talking on and off shipping and handling to cover cost. I don't mind them needing to cover the cost of the book. However the blatant dishonesty of it really bothers me. But I come back for more. I do love their site find it easy to use and the quality is excellent. Just be prepared if you are offered a "free mug or magnet or book" you'll end up paying for it anyway when they had on shipping and handling.

I have been using Shutterfly online for many years now and just over the last two or so years began using the Shutterfly App. What an absolutely fantastic tool for uploading photos and sending for printing via the Shutterfly photo printing process.
Shutterfly App is convenient, very inexpensive compared to other businesses processes, much more faster in uploading and printing and absolutely fantastic, totally awesome quality!!
I can't speak highly enough about Shutterfly, its App, it's print process and quality, and it's overall products in general as I have created and placed orders for products such as playing cards, puzzles, posters, mugs, greeting cards such as birthday, thank you cards for my at-home business, anniversary cards, framed photos and so much more!
If you have never tried Shutterfly, I recommend you do today! You won't be disappointed or dissatisfied! And if you are then their customer service will be right on it and rectify with the situation with the utmost professionalism, curtesy, and care!
Great job Shutterfly!! A job well done on a fantastic everyday App that definitely doesn't go unused in my household as I am sure I have printed for just me scrapbooking projects not to mention my business before and after photos, at least 4,500 photos between the online web site and the smartphone App just in the last few years. I have been using Shutterfly for years and love the quality of the products. I'm not liking at all the new format for viewing and arranging albums, you ruined a good thing when you went to this new way. Now since the ios 10 iphone update I can no longer even access the iphone for Shutterfly APP, when I tap the Shutterfly icon it drops me. I have spent literally hours on the phone with both Apple and Shutterfly and each basically blames the other. All Shutterfly could offer was " maybe wait until we do another update in the future" so it looks like they're one customer less and not too concerned about it. It's dropping on my husbands phone too so this is a problem on multiple phones. Come on Shutterfly, please make an attempt to fix this.....
8 weeks later, finally I am able to upload. I HATE that it's suxh a chore to just try to upload or change albumn cover. Please go back to older easier way. I do not like this new interface.

Ended up wasting so much time on this. I made a photo book through the app and when it arrived it was completely wrong- photos in a different order, some repeated several times, some missing and stretched out, just really bad. Called customer service and they reordered it for me and expedited the shipping so it would arrive by Christmas (it was a gift). I would have been fine with this, I get that mistakes happen, but when I got the 2nd order it was exactly the same wrong book as the first time. Customer service after this point was poor, the only solution I was offered was to remake my book from scratch which I really didn't want to do as I spent a lot of time on it and just wanted my original order to be printed correctly. On top of this there was no way to get it before Christmas and they didn't even offer a full refund, just credits to remake it and 25% off. I had to be transferred to multiple different people on the phone as those from the desktop support can't see your projects on the mobile app, and none of them were very pleasant or accommodating. It was most likely a corrupted file type issue but still, they should have some quality control to ensure that what they are sending out resembles what is being ordered, especially the second reorder of the same project. The whole thing was just extremely frustrating and a huge waste of time. I ended up cancelling the order for a full refund and deleting the app.

The iPad app is where it's at! The upload of photos and ability to turn them around is great. If you need to do anything fancy though, you should do it on the .com. Then save it or the photo and load it in. I lucked out this time because my photo was the right pixels and size. 😊
The biggest draw back, like all the other new apps for us iPad/iOS users is the auto fill for address and credit card information doesn't work. You have to hand type it all in the first time you use it.
I know, your tired. You've worked on your project forever deciding. You've finally decided and are ready to pay and they want you to what???........... Here's the good news. All during your design process and checkout process you can close the app and it will still be there waiting for you. I left it over night even. So walk away.....relax.......and finish when you're ready....BUT BEFORE YOUR COUPON EXPIRES. 👍

Shutterfly is great if you have no shipping issues. The price is way too much without a promo or a discount but they have Their moments of good times to buy. But as far as customer service goes they lack in this department. I had a problem with my address in which I contacted them within less then 12 hours about and still had an issue with shipping to the wrong address. Not only did I try to solve it in less then 12 hours but when it was told to me by their staff that it was taken care of it really hadn't been. So I contacted them again after seeing it hadn't been resolved and was told it was my problem and had to wait to get it resolved which was total crap. Eventually it was taken care of but I had to do more then what was needed as a customer to solve it myself. What a pain! I'm sure there has to be a better way to solve customer problems. I can go to Costco and get it faster and cheaper with less problems if need be.

This app is fantastic. I take a lot of photos and get sent a lot of photos and I have always had to transfer them to my computer and save them to a hard drive and wait for a day when I could afford to make prints of them. Then I was told about Shutterfly while one of their special deals was being offered, and I am so glad I was told about them. They regularly have deals that are just perfect for people like myself who don't have a lot of money to go to stores like Walmart or Walgreens to make prints; one of Shutterfly's best deals is their free 4x6 prints. You pay for the shipping cost but the prints are all free. The app is easy to use; you aren't left scratching your head trying to figure out how to do what you want it to do. I have seen comments about it being a slow app, and while I will say that that can be true, I will also say that some of that may have to do with the amount of free space (or lack thereof) on your phone. I noticed that after I cleared up some free space on my phone the app ran more efficiently.
It's also worth noting that they ship your prints to you in good, solid packaging, and you always know when it's arrived because you see the signature orange package on your doorstep.
In all this is a wonderful app that is easy and fun to use and offers an efficient way to print your pictures.

I don't like that only certain things are available on the app and there also isn't a search bar in the app to find what I'm looking for. Took forever to go through all the sections looking for address labels to find that they aren't even in the app (or at least I never found them). Then you have to switch back and forth between the two platforms to do different stuff instead of being able to do one order. And on top of that I gave up and decided not to order at all because the mobile site kept freezing- but the app didn't have the options for the product. Takes a long time to upload photos and you can only upload them to an album with wifi. This is my first time using Shutterfly in years, so I will have to wait to see about photo quality. I will probably just utilize Costco anyway for canvas prints and such because it is half the price for pretty darn good quality.

I was excited to use the Shutterfly app since I've used the website for years but I'm not impressed...yet. First, i had messages indicating FREE 4x6 & 4x4 prints. After selecting the prints I wanted and ordering i saw they were in fact not free and i was paying regular price. Next the functionality of the photo book is poor - I could find a way to select the cover photo I wanted. It defaulted to the first image(by date of photo I think), I couldn't delete a photo from the book once selected, could put the photos in an order I prefer, again default by date of photo. The formats for photos were not so great. Only the first photo could have any text/description. There are some good features such as being able to swipe finger over several photos to select vs clicking each one and the preview was easy too. There is great potential for this app and Shutterfly needs to spend some more time. I've wasted about 3 hours creating 2 books and selecting 100+ photos all to find out that the FREE print offer did not work. So I cancelled the entire order.

I got the book and for the most part I really like the book. I chose the mat pages option and was disappointed to see I paid the five dollars & only got 1 blank mat page in front & 1 mat in back. So what did I pay for??? I was extremely disappointed my book was beat up in the mailing & has 3 bend/dented areas . The top corner is bent under, and yes the box was all beat up which is not all your fault however better packing my have helped . There was no wrapping or protection packing in the orange cardboard box. The beige cover was badly wrinkled & creased in the binding, which is an issue which could have been done a bit better. Looking beat up , been around a long time just it does not give a professional look to my look. As I stated , just disappointed in a brand new book looking so beat up but enjoy having the book.

I dont know how long all this free stuff is going to last but I'm extremely happy with the magnets I got and I'm so bummed I missed the opportunity on that book that now costs over $40 WITH a discount. It had like 30 pages or something and you could have a theme the whole nine yards for $10 shipping. I mean seriously guys it's a no brainier. It's too bad I procrastinate. Well I didn't with the magnets or the prints, which those didn't come in yet but I have placed the order. Oh and by the way I ordered 60 prints for free just sayin. I kept selecting to see how far it would let me go and I'm wondering if I should've kept going... $9 for 60 prints delivered to my door? Yeah I'm on that like white on rice. I have only used the app to order 4 x 6 prints and was very pleased with that process. Selecting photos was quick and easy. The uploading of the photos was relatively fast. Checking out was also not a problem. Just as an aside - The economy shipping, which is the default, in my case was costlier and slower than standard shipping.
I downloaded the app to take advantage of the free 4 x 6 prints for a limited time if you used the app. I wondered about the validity of the offer, but all seems on the up and up. You do have to pay tax and shipping, but in my case this worked to about $.08 a print, which is indeed a good deal.
The app did make me allow access to all my photos, which I wasn't thrilled about, but I've been uploading photos to Shutterfly for years and have never had a problem. I'm going with four stars for what seems to be a time saving and worthwhile app.

At this time I'm giving it four stars because it worked reasonably well. All I did was order as many prints as I could (250), one each, all of the same size, during the course of which time I also registered for the site. Considering that a few times in the past I had attempted to order on other sites and always failed, or in the one case I succeeded the prints were poor quality. Although many years ago, with a different computer, a different company, no phone or apps involved, I was able to order different sizes and quantities quite easily. I guess it was a simpler time.
Also, note that I have not actually seen the results yet. The mailing costs were high. I had edited all the photos in advance because I don't know if there's a way to do this during the ordering process. But so far I'm hopeful I can use this app successfully. I'll update if necessary.

I uploaded this app for the free 4 x 6 prints. I wish I hadn't bothered. It is been a very frustrating afternoon. First, the app would not upload pictures off of my Shutterfly account. It would only upload photos from the camera's photo stream or from Facebook. After two requests for chat with customer service, I gave up and called. The woman told me to delete the app and reload it. I did this and it worked! The problem was I had lost all the photos that I had painstakingly chosen on the small screen of my phone the first time I did this. So I started over. It was very difficult on such a small screen. The app does not allow you to zoom in! So I had to compare each photo with the bigger photo size on my computer. It took a long time. When I was finally ready to order the order would not place. Another glitch! Ugh! had to call customer service again I was told to close out the app completely and reopen it. Luckily that worked! I would've been extremely angry if I had to spend more hours ordering the same prints yet again. I will NOT use this app again. I will stick with the website and my large computer screen.

When it was announced that ThisLife would be integrated with Shutterfly, I was optimistic that I would have the same features I loved about ThisLife with the added ease of ordering prints and products through Shutterfly. Instead, the Shutterfly app has succeeded in taking my neatly organized photos and making a jumbled mess of them. Dates are out of order, duplicates and deleted photos are being reuploaded automatically. That is, when anything is being uploaded at all. The app pauses itself constantly while uploading. (**UPDATE: It no longer uploads automatically at all anymore. Even though I've told it to manually upload, it won't do that either and I have weeks worth of pictures still not in Shutterfly.)
The worst of all, though is that one of the main appeals of ThisLife was the full resolution of all my photos. Most of what Shutterfly is uploading now is at much lower resolution than I can use for anything.
I emailed customer service to ask when this all might improve and got a form email back that essentially said they don't know. I hate to have to start from scratch with another service for my thousands of photos but at this point it seems easier than dealing with this.

In general I don't like the app. The printed photos are not as they were composed, with heads being chopped off in many. While the app may be convenient, it's a real pain when you realize you have to open EVERY PHOTO to check what will actually print. The prints you receive are not the same quality you get from ordering at the website - many I just received are dark and/or blurry when my image on the screen is not. I've just used it for a large order and i found one thing really annoying. As I shoot both rectangular and square images, both are in my photos. The app doesn't show you which is which, so when you are ordering prints and you load the photo to check, it takes you back to the top of the photos instead of putting you back where you were. If you have hundreds of photos in an album, that makes for a lot of annoying scrolling back down. So show us whether photos are rectangular or square and put us back at our last place instead of taking us back to the top when we load a photo to check. And shipping charges are astronomica l. Bottom line : a good idea in theory that needs serious work.

I was thrilled to get this app. I found it so convenient to upload photos from my phone (that's where all my photos are anyway!). I can live with limited editing since I can edit my projects better on my computer anyway. It was the easy upload that I really wanted.
What made me so disappointed was the EXTREMELY dark products that came from photos uploaded through this app! I created mugs, magnets and ordered prints and they are all incredibly dark- even the photos that were taken outside! These products were Father's Day gifts which made me even more disappointed. I have ordered so many products from Shutterfly in the past and I have never had this problem before. This was the first and last time I upload my photos through the app. I complained to Shutterfly and received 50% off my next mug order, but now I'm gun-shy. I will only upload my photos the old fashioned way from now on.

EDIT--what happened to the albums automatically sorting by most recent?! Now there is no option to change them and they automatically show a numerical/alphabetical order. When I am on the go and trying to upload photos to shutter fly I don't want to sort through my 500+ albums to find the most recent. It's so annoying! I have been using Shutterfly's website for over 10 years and the app since it came out and I get more and more disappointed with their app and their services! They don't seem to care about doing things right, before their customers that I've been with them along time and have a lot of pictures stored on the site, only what's trendy. They really need to give these are the option to support the albums in a different way.
I use this app all the time because I also use the shutterfly website all the time. I really like to have access to all my photos on shutterfly from my phone and love being able to save photos from my shutterfly albums to my phone's camera roll. I wish I could order prints from the app and that you could move/copy photos from various albums through the app. I don't like that I have to have location services on to use it though.

I joined Shutterfly back into 2005 after the birth of our daughter. Since I love pictures and I love putting pictures on different objects they were the perfect fit for me and my family. I love the quality of their work and the various products they offer. My husband said I should buy stock in the company because of how much I've ordered from them over the past decade...LOL!
Unfortunately I have had numerous orders stolen from my steps or in the mail but Shutterfly was always eager to ship out a new order with no strings attached and very quickly! That type of customer service you don't come across these days!
And their app is great as it gives me the availability to place an order right at my fingertips on my smart phone. So if you want quality items with great customer service you should select Shutterfly!

I've used this company when I switched from film to digital for all my photos and special orders since 2005 back when it was still ofoto, then Kodak and now shutterfly. I will always follow where all my pictures go. Now, with the app that automatically uploads photos from my phone, there's truly no need for another photo app or service. It makes printing my photos too easy. The only complaint I have is if I want to place an order with the app I have to have the photo prints and photo products shipped to my home (which can become expensive) and there is no option to have my photo prints shipped to a nearby store. I understand not being able to pick up special photo orders like mugs, magnets, etc and having to pay for shipping with those, but at least let me pick up the photo prints at a location so it lowers my cost just a bit. Other than that, I will never stop using this company - and if shutterfly gets bought out by another, I'll follow once again too.

My sister has been bugging me for weeks to download the shutterfly app. I hate downloading apps. Like really. I only have Instagram, a baby app for my daughter, and Sephora because lipstick. My sister told me that shutterfly always has great incentives like free pictures or a free tote bag, etc. Well, my daughter is now four and a half months (aren't you glad I didn't tell her age in weeks ;)) and I have accumulated over three thousand photos of her. I still have over a thousand in my phone and Ive been wanting to print pictures but kept feeling overwhelmed by how many I'd have to sort through. That number was growing by the day so I finally said "okay, let me download this app" since my sister said I could easily order the pictures from my own photo gallery—this was the selling point for me since I'd previously always transferred my photos to my MacBook and then uploaded chosen photos to my Walgreens account. It wasn't very convenient. I was just able to order over fifty photos EASILY from my phone and FOR FREE just for having this app!!! I'll definitely be ordering a couple mugs soon (for grandparents day) and some magnets with photos of our sweet baby. Shutterfly is totally a game changer for this obsessive-picture-taking mama.

We first began using this company to back up our photos, print, and create photo gifts back in 2003. Just after the birth of our first child. Over the years seeing a Shutterfly envelope arrive in the mail has generated much excitement for all of our kids, nieces and nephews, grandparents and aunts and uncles. We were military and lived overseas for years. This company has helped us to stay connected with family and friends all over the world and the prints, photo books and photo gifts have always been high quality. Once, while living in Germany, we had a package that was quite a large order go missing in the mail and Shutterfly completely replaced the order free of charge. About 2 weeks after receiving the replacement order, my original order showed up in a badly damaged box. Yet, the packing was so good, the contents was not damaged. And when I contacted the company to let them know my original order showed up, they just said no problem not to worry about paying for the second order and then proceeded to thank us for our military service and credited our account with 100 free prints just because of the hassle we had experienced with our first order. Which was no cause of theirs. Love, love, love this company. I recommend it to everybody I know and will remain a loyal customer for as long as I need these types of services. Keep up the good work!

Writing a review only in hopes that it gets fixed. You get unlimited storage if you choose auto upload but they will all go into one album and I prefer to organize my photos differently. I don't like how that feels like I'm being manipulated to auto upload in order to get unlimited storage. Plus there are screenshots and other stuff I may not want to upload and only temporarily need on my phone. Not happy with this upgrade. Please fix it!
Current update: all folders are set up alphabetically. It used to be the most recent on top. I understand that alphabetically may be easier for people to organize their folders but I organize by year and then by month/event as an album within that year. Now each time I want to upload, I have to go down to 2016. My albums within the folders are not alphabetical, But listed in order created. The problem is that I have to close each folder every time I open the app, otherwise I'm scrolling endlessly to get to the bottom. Would be better if folders remained closed rather than resetting to open and showing all albums.

Technically I'm just reviewing the app, which is easy to use and so intuitive it just flows naturally. Nearly all my purchasing I've done via the app because it is so simple to do. However, greater than this is their online site, the downloader for PC and their user policies. I use shutterfly for all my classes. And I can rapidly upload an average of 400 photos a week, at high resolution. Students can access them free, get photos if they like, or just download them to print at home, free. The paid services are reasonable, and only apply to printing. The digital services are all free, the email once-a-week "we have a sale on calendars" (or prints, or coffee cups, or books, etc) is limited and non spammy. You never are hit up for more money for storage no matter how much you store, and their up loaders work faster than all other services I've tried. The quality of the print work they do is also great.

I have been using shutterfly for years and never see myself stopping. I am a stay at home mom (without a whole lot of money to throw away, I might add) and I absolutely love SHUTTERFLY! They have the very best quality of photos for the lowest price. I use a coupon for every single order because they have so many floating around!!! There are some for 101 free prints or free this or free that. All you pay is shipping but if you time it correctly you can get several things for free and have them all shipped to you together so the shipping is less than if you were to get them shipped separately. I have target, Walmart, and a multitude of cvs's and Walgreens around me but I would never bring myself to order prints from them because the quality is nothing compared to shutterfly! They have the nicest customer service and are all around so fantastic! They surely have all of their bases covered.

I think we are raising a generation of kids who don't have real photos, just digital stuff. So many kids have said to me, "you develop your pictures? I wish my mom did." Lots of people have lost precious pictures when their computer/phone/SD card failed in some way. Shutterfly makes it easy to develop your pictures. And though I'm not artistic, I have branched out to make photo books, magnets, coasters, mugs, Christmas cards, and all kinds of things people enjoy because of the photos. Since my first granddaughter was born I have made photo books tracking her progress, which her parents have LOVED! On the other side of life I made a photo book for my parents' 50th anniversary that they treasure. People enjoy my photo books more than any other gift because they are designed just for them.

Update 9/6: Nothing improved with the latest review. Still can't edit photos to determine where they will be cropped. App remains virtually useless and extremely disappointing.
I've used Shutterfly for several years and have historically been pleased with the app and their products but the latest update is just awful! The functionality of the app is gone. Can no longer edit or crop photos when ordering, can't access the special offer details to see when they end, the new graphic design of the app feels very busy, etc. The old version was aesthetically simpler and so much easier to use!
I've done the majority of my Shutterfly orders through the app in the past but I won't be using it again unless they "fix" the update to allow for old features such as editing photos or being able to make collages for any product.
I have not tried to upload yet on this update, but have heard that's a nightmare now. I primarily used mobile uploading because it was faster and simpler than transferring my pics to the computer first. If I have to go back to computer uploads, that will be a deal breaker. Shutterfly is not the only site that offers custom photo products...

Recently have noticed that when I upload pictures via app to website, photos might be marker w "s" indicating they have been uploaded, but when I look in the album they were uploaded not all pictures are showing there. So I had to go through my phone album to see which pictures were uploaded and which ones weren't even though app indicated they all were uploaded. PLEASE FIX!
Love the easy backup for my photos off my iPhone. But would be nice if what I put in my cart on the app would sync to website.
Also I like how I can edit a print (I.e crop) before I order on website, unable to do that when ordering prints off of app.
Upgrade to ios8 screwed up "recently added pictures" under upload section as it shows old photos that had already been uploaded. The "s" icon helps but it was nice that only new pictures used to show there.

This is one of the best and most versatile product ordering apps I've used on my iPhone. Shutterfly has delivered an app experience that makes creating custom prints and products as easy as walking up to the photo kiosk at your local drug store. I ordered 14 4x6 prints and a custom photo collage mug, and it was very easy to perform basic edits on the photos as well as arrange the collage on the mug face. Many options and intuitive controls made it an app worth using again. It never lagged or crashed despite the complex operations involved of photo manipulation, product selecting, and purchasing.
I'll update this review to include product quality once I receive them!

I'm a pro photographer and I don't use Shutterfly as a part of my workflow, but I have kids in school and all the parents are on it. Therefore, I am often forced to interact with shuttetfly's website. This time, I tried the Shutterfly App thinking it would be better in handling large sized pro photos straight from my device, which would be great! But sadly, it was worse. I had some photos on my iPhone and iPad and it would not load any of my pics. I tried to upload to the app and all I got was a constant reminder that I couldn't share my pics in any of my school share sites cause it was trying to upload in other areas. I did everything I could to clear it, or upload it, and nothing has worked. On the other hand, I was successful in ordering an 8x8 photo book from the app, that went smoothly. But dealing with the photo uploads and unsuccessfully trying to use the share accounts wasted my valuable time. The website is still better for the occasional pro who just needs to get the darn thing done!

Was excited to download and try out this app, since I am a big user of shutterfly on my laptop but often lack the time to sit down at home with my computer. Things I like: 1) I'm able to upload iphone photos straight to shuttetfly (to share w family, order prints, or use in future projects) without having to plug the iphone into computer, exporting from iphoto and doing an upload from the computer. Very convenient for someone who takes many iphone and camera pics. 2) during spare time I can browse my photos and choose prints to order.
What needs improvement: projects made on the iphone (like building a book or another gift) do not cross between computer account and iphone account. Not sure why this would be. Being able to start a project on one device and work on it or even finish it from the phone would make it easier for me to finish projects and ultimately order more from shutterfly.
Would recommend this app to anyone who takes a lot of iphone pics and likes having prints and/or gifts to share with family. Basically, it's great for moms of young kids.

I love this photo app. It makes it easy to upload pictures to my account and keep up with the ever constant need to send out pictures of my growing kiddo. I love being able to order prints directly from the app and while you can order some photo gifts, you can't do nice photo books like I enjoy making or anything complex from the app. But honestly I would prefer to do it on my laptop for ease. There are just times when I wish I could work on existing projects from my phone. Also sometimes the upload feature can get a little finicky, but most of the time it works well. My major complaint is being unable to organize photos by sending them from one file to another while on the app. It is possible to do on the desktop version but it would be convenient on the app. I also wish there was a video upload section in both the desktop and the app versions because I take so many videos on my iPhone. I wish I could store them more easily. It is definitely a must have app in my opinion though.

The app freezes often. You have to delete and start over. Tired of it. Then once you re-download the app any photos on your phone start over as "new" photos. If they finally upload the photos are out of order so it's hard to have a starting point to which pictures are downloaded already since it resets them all as new on your phone. I thought this was going to be the answer to clearing my phone and printing those pictures. Not happy at all. Tried to make a free book a few months ago had so much trouble 2 hours before midnight. Should have been enough time. I didn't make the deadline as there is no live chat or help. Advice given after writing an email didn't help still couldn't make the book and no offer to honor the book or any additional help when I said it still wasn't working. If you have trouble and complain it doesn't seem it's taken seriously. If it's just me, it's not. My husband works on computers, he is very good at this stuff. He followed every direction and advice from the email. Still didn't work. And just before writing this, app is frozen and won't work. Time to move on.

Just used the app to make a photo book

I love this app. It is great to be able to add pictures from my iPhone and share my photos easily. The Share Sites app is great too for sports teams that want to share their photos of events. You can now make photo books using the app. My only complaint is that you can't save your work to go back and make changes later plus I lost my work several times once when I was trying to checkout and my phone froze. Need to add a save feature otherwise users will get frustrated at having to create a book multiple times and eventually give up. I like that I can work on a book in my downtime, but if you don't plan on buying it immediately after you choose your pictures, then don't waste your time and use the desktop version instead. Overall this app is fantastic. I highly recommend it!

It's a good app when it works properly **meaning the photos show up in your account, and do orders on the app without any issues**.
The app was going good until the last two updates which caused the app to make signing out IMPOSSIBLE (the reason that signing out became impossible was because when you get to the sign out button... it wouldn't work)! Their app support is a big joke to be honest! When I contacted them about not being able to sign out (since that's what they told the people to update the app to do in the most recent update) they were trying to tell me how to sign out the app!! That's rather stupid considering that I've had the app for nearly a year so I would know how! I'm aggravated about the apps issues! I tried being nice about it and that obviously got me nowhere.. so y'all at shutterfly better fix it NOW!! TO Shutterfly: I will NOT give this app 5 stars until my problem about signing out and being to send my photos to my account through the app are fixed!!

I LOVE SHUTTERFLY! I've ordered many items and thought that getting the app would make things much easier. Although it accesses your pictures from your phone automatically (easier to upload that when doing it online), I do not like it. I recently ordered through the app and it took forever to get processed (1 wk), normally I would've received my item within that week. Then there's the fact that it doesn't let me track my item either. I don't like that I can't go to the shutterfly website from the app. And I hate that when I open the app to browse what I'd like to order, it limits my options and before I can look at prices for whatever it is I want, it doesn't let me move on unless I choose photos (how am I suppose to upload pics if I don't know what I want yet?!). Needless to say, I am very disappointed in this app, I will uninstall (after 1.5 wks) and just continue using the website. I will not let this experience alter my opinion about ah shutterfly itself because they truly have great products of great quality.

I use this app ALL THE TIME. I think it's easier than actually going to the website and ordering prints! I upload from my cameras SD Card on my computer and I have my photos with me wherever I go- I love to hold prints in my hand so love this app for ordering my prints and photo gifts and its so easy to share your pictures by email with your family and friends. You click the prints and sizes you want and in a few days they are in your mailbox. This app makes long waits at the doctors office or anywhere more enjoyable- easy easy easy ...... I don't always like all my pictures digital so I have my favorites on things like mugs and blankets and in frames everywhere- and people love photo gifts that are useful. I am all about saving time, gas and money and curling up with my coffee on the couch after I've sent the family home from a big gathering or a holiday and just enjoying the memories- with the slideshow feature- then sharing the good ones right away! LOVE THIS APP

Love Shutterfly, Love the App

I became a Shutterfly user in 2004, before the birth of my daughter in Jan 2005. The pictures of both of my children's lives are stored in Shutterfly. I love that I can order photos online or pick them up in a local store. I love that I can make projects online as well. The quality of their photo books is great...and a nice substitute for the busy mom who doesn't have time to do "proper" scrapbooking. I love the peace if mind of knowing that even if I lost every photo in my house or if I lost my phone, all of my pictures are still there. I like being able to securely share pictures with my friends and family and that they can order photos of my kids too if they want to.
The app has been particularly helpful now that most if the photos I take are taken with my phone. It's great to be able to upload directly to the site without having to connect to the computer. I always wait until I have a wifi connection though because I'm usually uploading hundreds of photos!!
I highly recommend Shutterfly!!!

Problem viewing horizontally on an iPod Touch

There is a problem when you hold your iPod Touch horizontally and view a picture. The picture rotates from the vertical position properly, but when you want to share this horizontal view with someone, say, across the breakfast table, it rotates back to vertical when you place it on the table! In other words, keeping your iPod in a horizontal position and slowly rotating on the other axis to a flat position causes the photo to lose the horizontal view. Terribly frustrating.
I tested the same photo on the same iPod Touch with Apple's "Photos" app, and it did not lose it's horizontal orientation when the iPod was laid flat on the table. So it is a Shutterfly programming bug in its iPhone/iPod Touch implementation.
That said, transferring photos from a Mac, using the Shutterfly plug-in with Firefox worked well, and the quality of the photos on the iPod Touch was fine. Also, I was able to sync my photos in SUBFOLDERS within folders, and conveniently access them on the iPod via the same folders and subfolders. This is a very important feature that "Photos" does not have, and was the reason I got Shutterfly.
