Description

Tool for planning staged decompression dives for technical divers.
Supports open circuit and closed circuit rebreathers, multi-level and repetitive dives, nitrox, trimix, altitude adjustments, metric and imperial measurements.
Keeps track of gas consumption, OTUs and CNS. Per dive configurable ascent/descent rates, last stop/stop interval settings and RMV/MOR. Any combination of OC and CCR planning is possible (CCR dives with OC levels/deco etc.).
One tap access to lost-gas, bailout, deeper & longer profiles.
Constantly displays updated plan details as changes are made, and uses color highlighting to suggest best mixes.
Dive plans can be stored in a bookmark folder for convenient reuse. Plans can also be exported via email or pasted into any other app.
Features both VPM-B (based on Erik C. Bakers work) with configurable conservatism and ZHL16-B with configurable gradient factors for calculating decompression profiles. Also supports VPM-B/GFS.

Needs to be updated

UPDATE: Am receiving an error message when starting the app: "THE DEVELOPER NEEDS TO UPDATE THIS APP. IT WILL NOT BE COMPATIBLE WITH FUTURE VERSIONS OF IOS"
As of now, the app still works on iOS 10.3.1, but is very buggy

Old review:
A bit buggy with some graphics on modern iOS versions. Needs an update.
Also, it would be nice to have a universal (iPad/iPhone) version update.
Still useful, as long as you work around the bugs and double-check with another app/your dive computer!

Best iOS technical dive planning app

I use on my iPad and iPhone for dive site planning on CCR. Excellent options, especially the ways to configure bailout options.

Baltic is great!

I've really enjoyed using Baltic for planning dives. The interface can be a little confusing when you try to remember where settings are, but I love how the wheels adjust parameters and you can see the results in near real time. Excellent app!

Great app

After getting used to the layout and where all the functions are located, this app does all that I need. Flexible enough to cover contingencies too. I'd buy it again.

Pretty Good

I like the app, but it really needs to calculate for fresh water. Also, saving a new dive profile isn't very intuitive. That said, Baltic does a great job of generating tables. I've checked it against several other dive planning programs, including GAP, and the deco schedules are similar. Again, for those of us that dive both fresh and salt water, Baltic misses the mark on the fresh water side.
I'm told that for very deep dives on trimix, Baltic is less reliable than some others. I've only used it for air dives in the 165' range, and so far haven't seen anything unexpected. I still check it against other software and make absolutely sure what I see makes sense.

Rebreather Deco diver

Great product. Very well build and stable. Latest version allows for a combination of vmp and builman conservatism level set up for a single profile. I use this on my iphone to cut tables on the boat. Very convenient

Crashes on launch

Worked great till the update. Now it crashes right after launch on my iPad 1. I have tried deleting and reloading to no avail.

Use it regularly in my dive business

I've used this quite a bit to plan dives with substantial decompression and found it to work quite well with my Smart Tec dive computers. They seem to use about the same models.

Best SCUBA decompression planner.

Fast, accurate, does everything you need. VPM-B supported. This and Baltic Blender is all a technical diver needs on his or her iPhone.

Best dive planning app on the iPhone

The only other app worth considering is vplanner and with baltic's support for both vpm and zhl-16 combined with fact it shows you the consequences of changes as you make them, Baltic is clearly the best option.

Probs the best iPhone deco planner

Good range of features, nice interface, and supports both gf and VPM. Downsides? Not a lot of options for customizing the profile. Not iPad native. Can't compare the profiles of different algorithms. Won't calculate rock bottom or thirds.
But considering the thin field, still probably the best currently available.

Fantastic deco app!

Can't wait to see this in an iPad version!
Would be nice to have VPM B/E (most desirable), RBGM (unlikely), adjustable stop times (for s-curving), a gas blender (I use ideco pro for gas blending). A great addition would also be a tank factor calculation - which tanks are being dived (working pressure), fill pressure, and even a rock bottom calculation all integrated! A sac/rmv calculator would also be a nice addition.
This app is the best out there by far, with the (realistic) suggestions I would happily pay 3 times the current price! Please please please :)

Amazing planning tool

This is the best deco software I have used to date. I have retired all of my other programs and now use Baltic for 100% of my dives. I highly recommend this to anyone that does any kind of extended range diving.

Baltic Deco Planner

Baltic Deco Planner is a great program, gives similar results as other decompression dive planners, and comes in a small package at a great price. It is definitely intuitive and I like the way it updates calculations on the fly. It makes doing "what ifs" very easy. I kept it with me and ran dive plans to kill time while waiting in lines and other brief down times. I had it figured out in the time it took to get a few over priced coffees. Having the number colors on the wheels change for different partial pressure ranges was a nice touch. It is definitely a tool worth having.

Great planning tool for technical dives!

I recently used Baltic Deco Planner for an Advanced Nitrox / Decompression Procedures certification course and having the software available on the boat was a tremendous asset, particularly when planned dive sites were blown out and we had to move to an alternate location where the depth may have been different than the planned dive.
I would like to see a future update include an added section for travel gas so users can configure intermediate mixes used in descent and ascent, and make it easier to remove deco gases from the dive without having to reset to blank.

Best scuba app yet!!

This is the best app I've seen in a while and the best diving app ever. Baltic is a much better value than v planner for the iPhone. If your concerned about the price, consider the money you've spent on other gear already. This has got to be the cheapest addition to my gear bag since I can remember. I would like to see a gas blender built in in future updates as well as a graph of the deco profile (not that it would serve a usefull purpose, just for fun). I would recommend this app for any tech diver with iPhone/iPod touch. This is the app tech divers have been waiting for!

Just what I have been waiting for !!

I have been using V-planner for close to 10 years and have always wished for the ability to plan dives on my cell phone for those times when I do not have my laptop around or when we are on the boat and due to weather/conditions the dive plan changes and you need to plan a different dive profile. The menu structure on the Baltic Deco is perfect, its like the designers were inside my head when they wrote the program. The menu makes perfect sense and navigation is a breeze, With features like dynamic profile calculation, change comparison, bookmarks, VPM/B, ZHL16B with GF, and CCR support there is no reason to not buy this app for $16, in fact I am shocked its not $70 or more...To be honest, with this program out I doubt I will be using V planner anymore as I prefer the menu structure and love the dynamic profile calculations and other features that the Baltic application utilizes.
