Description
During 2009, the UK Parliament celebrated the 150th anniversary of its world famous Clock Tower, Great Clock and Great Bell.
The name Big Ben is often used to describe the tower, the clock and the bell but the name was first given to the Great Bell. 1859 was the beginning for all three elements when the Clock Tower was completed, the Great Clock started on 31 May and the Great Bell’s chimes were heard for the first time on 11 July.
Have your iPhone (or iPod Touch) display the time of day in style.
Options include:
adding a digital clock display
showing a seconds hand
having it make a tick-tock sound
having it chime every quarter of an hour and toll on the hour (the chiming and tolling sounds will play even when the app is not open, so long as your device is not muted and you allow notifications in the General Settings for Big Ben)
Pointless? Maybe. Decorative? Certainly.
NB Sounds will only play through earphones on 1st gen iPod Touch.

• The movement of the minutes hand is now gradual.
No full screen iPad support yet, but it will come at a later date.

Love it but...
... Really wish the app volume would correspond with the ringtone volume on your phone. I keep mine turned low, and would prefer the chimes to match. Also wish that if your phone is set to silent, the chimes don't sound like you're getting a text message every 15 minutes! Please add these features on the next update. Otherwise I love it, it makes me miss London so much!

Nice app...
Helps me keep track of time, esp when gaming or doing other work, but just like the previous reviewer, I really wish there was a way to schedule 'silent time' in the app!
The two images is a nice touch, but it'd be even nicer if there were more pictures for it to (automatically) choose from!

Great app!
Love the app. It really helps me keep up with the time, especially when I'm busy and can't keep an eye on the time.
Really wish there was a way to schedule it to turn itself off at night, that would make it perfect.

How do you get this to work?
It says when I turn on west minister time it will ring even when it's closed but when I close the app it didn't ring. Any suggestions??

Good but not great
Love it worth paying for it but the tick tock option is creepy... And there should be silencer for night or volume controls but still a great app

I have 2 suggestions and 1 concern.
My First suggestion is that you add the chime train sounds and animation. The chime trains are the objects and gears that help the chimes and bells ring. If you need a better definition, then you will have to look up more stuff on that. My second suggestion is that the ticking does not sound quite authentic. Big Ben only ticks every other second. My other part of the suggestion is that the ticking should be a little bit softer, not quieter, just a little Bit more gentle, Because when I was listening to real videos on Big Ben, the ticking was a little bit softer. My concern is that, well, I have in iPhone for S upgraded to iOS 6 0 1 and the app still crashes. It has been doing that since I downloaded the app, which was probably months before the iOS 6 upgrade.

Few issues
Love the app BUT, there's no option to ring ONLY on the hour instead of quarterly. And the app chimes even while im on the phone. VERY annoying. Plz fix.

Great app, I love hearing Big Ben. My question is this: would it be possible to set a volume for the chiming? I always have my phone vol way up and consequently so is BB!! I would love to hear it a touch more 'in the background'. Thanks so much!!

Excellent!
I really like it! You can run the quarter hour chimes in the background while running the Wall Clock app from Japan in the foreground for a very realistic effect. The Wall Clock app has fantastic graphics while the BigBen app has great sound effects... put them together and voilà... perfection!

It's too loud. Either resample bell toll at a lower volume, or provide volume setting in app.

Need some refinements
I use this app on my iPad2. I really enjoy it but would like to see a volume control added as well as the ability to delete the hourly dongs. Given the volume it becomes an annoyance in the later hours of the cycle.
Oh, one other refinement: The ability to set the time of day for silent operation ( quiet it at night ).

Suggestion about the lock screen
Amazing app, I love London, I go there every summer. Nice reminder app :)
You know the apps where you can customize your lock screen?
How cool would that be if the BigBen clock was on the lock screen. I mean not just the picture, but the animation. If will show BigBen on the lock screen everyone who loves London would get that app.
So is it technically possible?

Won't Turn Off!
Update. Sorry, I have figured it out. The chimes may be switched off by a switch from within the app. I did not realize that an app's internal switch could remain active even though an app is not running and is removed from the multitasking window. I have increased my rating as promised.
Since this is possible, I now wonder why the alarm-apps I have tried say their app must appear in the multitasking window to remain functional?

This is a nice app and works as advertised except that I am unable to turn the chimes off even though I have turned off the app in the multitasking window.
I am using a 3rd Gen iPod Touch with the very latest IOS. I will give this more stars when the developer tells me how to switch off the chime without having to delete the app from the device.
PS. I've tried resetting the device, but it still keeps on chiming when I need it to be off.

Almost perfect app
This app is very nice, especially the chime. It works very well even when my phone is in sleep mode. It could be better if the chime can be disable only at night by a time setting.

Very nice
An app that just has an image of Big Ben and makes clock sounds?!? You bet! This app does exactly what it said it would do. It's a great rendition of Big Ben sights and sounds, which is awesome for those of us who love London. It brings back really nice memories. As an improvement, I'd love to have optional pictures of London around Big Ben in both afternoon and evening that could be shown with the sound of the clock in the background.
(PS - I get clock sounds even when the app is off, so not sure what the other reviewer was experiencing. Maybe due to different versions of iOS. )

It only works when the application is open and does not work when the phone is asleep
so what's the use of it? just look at it when the hour is getting close to hear the chimes?
