Great app, few suggestions

Love LimeChat (also use it on macOS).
The only thing I would love to see is support for hardware keyboards (like on the iPad Pro) - for some reason the chat pane scrolls up even though no soft keyboard is displayed or desired.

Background Refresh

Have had this app for a year or so, my only problem with it so far has been not having background refresh as a thing, even of you gotta charge 99 cents for it as an in app purchase id buy it, its a very needed feature and this is the best irc app on ios that ive seen.

Background connectivity++

The desktop client is amazing! So I figured it was an easy decision to shell out $5 for something I could get elsewhere for free. Except that the core use case for Orc is long-running background chats. I cannot use an Orc client that I have to leave in the foreground to work.

Useless without background connectivity

This app is great, save for the fact that a connection drops if the app is in the background, rendering it useless for me. Update the app with the option for background connectivity (without a time limit that drops connection) and its 5 stars from me.

Updated to iOS 8 without adding background app refresh

I bought this program and I like it but, if you don't get background app refresh to work I might have to keep on working on my own IRC client, which basically works, but a lot to do for one person. However it never stays connected in the background so do that or I'll be forced to waste my time on a project I don't want to work on for a lack of a good ios IRC client

Best IRC App for iOS

Very sleek and efficient. I have used this for a long time and have always loved it. I wish there were more commands for the user-list, but that is not a big problem. If you want a clean, straightforward and efficient IRC app, use this. Other apps are more technical and advanced, but this one has been the most reliable and well performing.

Bad input positioning with external keyboard on iPad

There seems to be a problem with the latest version when using an external bluetooth keyboard, at least in landscape mode on iPad -- the input area moves up (and the chat area shrinks) to make room for an on-screen keyboard that never shows up.
Otherwise it seems to work pretty well, except that connections time out in the background pretty aggressively.

Decent but a suggestion

I love this app, I've been using it for a year or so. It's decent and easy to use. The only con about is if only it has a feature where it doesn't disconnect you. It gets annoying using limechat and then after going to safari it's been disconnected.

There's room for improvement

Basically it's a good app, but some important features are missing:

No notifications

Without my phone being able to vibrate in my pocket and let me know someone has contacted me this app is almost useless for $5. I see some other people have mentioned this as well so hopefully this will be fixed soon and I can change my rating. Other than that it's a pretty solid irc app.

Bare bones. No help.

I have used full featured irc clients like mIRC. This product is bare bones and unable to connect. No help or explanation for fields and entering same info as my other irc products does not work. Hours lost.
I installed irc999 and used it to figure out setup with useful messages. Better interface here.

Ok for chat, nothing else; overpriced

If you want to chat over IRC, them this app does just fine. If you want to do anything else, then the app is insufficient. Cut and paste is not so hot; you can't select what you want to cut. File transfers or even going to an fserve (ctcp)...not an option. For a $5 app, I would have expected a LOT more.

Lol I thought I was ripped off

This is great just what I needed. I started to freak when I seen the server list and didn't see an add button. Between the word server and the arrow you can type in your server. I didn't know this right away. And I use to write scripts for mIRC. HA! I love it and I'm planning to keep it. That's for making such a great app. Keep up the good work.

Version 2.16
2012-12-18

Great

Totally blows other IRC apps out of the water. The design and options are intuitive, convenient, and useful. Although the price may be high, it's worth it and is a good buy for an experienced user of IRC. New users may be a little confused, but an online IRC tutorial would clear up some of the questions a new user might have. It's a five-star app at the moment, but I would love to see colors implemented, possibly some basic scripting, and a better copy/paste system. Other than that, this app is money well spent.

Good, Not Great Yet

* Hands down destroys the buggy new version of Colloquy in all but a few ways.
* Copy and paste doesn't seem to work from chat window. Highly annoying.
* You have to click+hold on nicks in chat and select paste username. No nick autocomplete. Prefer the way Colloquy implements this.
* Needs swipe gesture to switch between channels / PMs
* Wish it auto changed your nick to preferred nick once it is available like Colloquy. It's annoying to be nick_ upon peer reset.

RkevinJ
Version 2.16
2012-11-20

A good start. Missing some important features

I am a heavy chat user and there are some very basic features that are needed in chat clients for them to be functional. I decided to download LimeChat after Colloquy completely destroyed their IOS app in their last release and the do not seem interested in addressing the issues. The LimeChat interface is simple and easy to read and the time stamping feature is an important must have.
The 2 functions that are missing are the ability to set audible alerts for channel or PM messaging and the ability to receive messages via IOS notification center when the app is running in the background. Messaging is needed for replies to PM's along with a notification when the app is going to shutdown due to the 10 min background limit that Apple imposes (with an option to hit the notification and automatically reset the timer for another 10 mins). Colloquy does this really well, but they messed the interface up in their latest release.
On a positive note, I did contact the LimeChat developer and gave him my suggestions. He responded very quickly and seemed genuinely interested in my suggestions (asking questions). Take a look at the version release dates on the other chat clients and you will see that most of them are 1 or 2 years old! Not a good sign of a developer that is committed to their product long term. Hopefully the LimeChat developer will live up to expectations because I think that he has a solid baseline for a decent chat app.

Best there is

This app is a bit pricey, but honestly it's easily the best there is. I've tried Palaver (no landscape mode and the keyboard won't minimize properly) Collouquy (hasn't been updated in a year and a half so it doesn't support anything properly) and a bunch of free apps, and this is the best IRC client on the market. It supports landscape mode, you can connect to multiple servers and multiple channels on each server. It notifies you with a non-intrusive color change when there's activity in another channel. You can even turn on/off things like auto-correct and capitalization at the start of setences. If you like IRC, this is the app you want.

Prolly the best IRC client for iOS

The app is great. I have just 2 things I'd love it to do: history of what I said during the session and ability to turn off the caps when beginning to write or starting a new senetnce. I'd rate it 5 stars if those 2 things were added.

Good App

I use LimeChat on my iPod when I can't access my computer to get to mIRC. LimeChat has a great pinging system and background support. I love how it is set up so that I can be in multiple server with ease. I would, however, like to see some scripts for LimeChat.

Good IRC app

I just downloaded this, and so far, it works great. It's similar to most desktop IRC apps, with some nice iPad-specific features. Plus, the multitasking support is nice, so you can switch around while chatting.
It would be nicer if it had a larger list of servers built in, however. I had to go look up the (popular) server I needed.

Limechat - excellent irc client

I have purchased most of the chat clients available for the iPad, and keep finding myself coming back to Limecat: for it's simplicity, effectiveness, and easy to use interface. I also need a client which supports ssl connections to my private ircd server, and Limechat works perfectly. I give it 5 stars.

Support?

Revision... Okay, I was able to connect to a different server, so I upgraded my rating to 3-stars. However, the documentation is still inadequate -- nicer to have some written help, rather than hope to get help via an e-mail. In addition: some shortcut commands would be nice and, dare one ask: DCC support? :-)
First, the "support" is a lame website with three small screen shots that are useless. There's no instructions on what to put where to get to which IRC servers. I use ircle on the Mac, add a server, network, and I'm there. I add the server here, there's no clear place for the network, and all you get is "Operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -9800)". Huh? Would love to find some instructions but that "client support" is nothing but a few useless paragraphs naming features.

Needs timestamps

Good overall, supports all the core things I need for my work IRC server including SSL. BUT it needs to have an option to timestamp channel messages. If it can learn that trick it's definitely 5 stars.

Simple and easy to use

I have used this irc client on the iPhone and it works very well. I am pleased that the client now has an iPad version utilizing the full space of the screen. Limechat is very simple yet polished to connect to an IRC server and start chatting away. I definitely look forward to any updates in the future.

Universal means good developer

I have to say i am extremely satisfied with developers who develop universal apps. They provide so much more for you than the eye can see, and for no additiomal price. I just switched to this developer for that reason. Now i hope to see some minor updates, but that i have no doubt about will happend.

I love it

This app is awesome I would recomend. If your looking for an irc and in my opinion I would prob pay more. Would be cool in future to see few updates like have a server list, maybe few scripts, and when u select someone have more options instead of just whois and give op maybe add like ban and other things would make this app perfect. Overall this app is awesome I love it. Thank you for this app. Also wish I didn't have to keep retuping this because nicks were taken -.-

Awesome.

A great IRC client comes to the iPhone/iPod touch

I've been waiting for an effective way for me to communicate easily over IRC. This client makes it very easy for both the IRC veteran (direct command inputs are ready and multiple servers with detailed configuration options are available) and simple for the novice (the user interface is well labeled and you only need to provide a little information to get started). While there are small things that could be polished (like providing a server list for people new to IRC and maybe some command shortcuts) things work smoothly.
After talking to the developer directly (on IRC with this client no less), input was taken very graciously so I imagine this client will be improving on these things over time. Because of this I will give it a full 5 stars. Not many developers are open to listening and striving to polish software to this degree. Otherwise it is quite worth the price even with it's minimal problems (which would make it a four star app at worst).
