I've used this app since it was first released and it has steadily improved through time. I like to keep my watch synchronized with NIST and this does a wonderful job of helping me do that.

As always a great product. The definitive atomic clock. Would love an Apple Watch app that keeps time precise.

Gorgeous and highly readable, even at a distance. The developers paid attention to detail, from the way the unlighted “LED” lines are visible to the use of the proximity sensor in night mode. But most of all it’s quick and easy to use when you need an accurate time reference.

To add to my original review, I really appreciate the constant updates of this app. It really shows the way "real" developers work and stand by their products. These guys (gals?) are NOT the stereotypical "hit and run" app developers.

It takes REAL INTEGRITY to stand by an app from pretty much the start of the App Store (and we need all the integrity we can get these days, no matter where it comes from! ;-).

I'm not sure why, but the recently added "440 Hz" mode sounds particularly cool (or maybe familiar?) to me. Give it a try, but make sure you wait until the minute changes and you get the "alternate" tone.

Used in my mobile TV truck when GPS can't be used. Usually with about 1/10th of a second left, if we click apply on our Evertz system, we are as spot on as we need to be; the rotating circle makes this very useful to know when to click!

Reliable, accurate and great features.

Atomic Clock has been my go-to app for years now when I want the exact time to set one of my automatic (mechanical) watches by. It does what it needs to do with elegance and, of course, precision. Although it needs no further refinement, I'm impressed that the creator is committed to always keeping it current (but of course!). Thank you!

Compared this app's time to my clocks at home that sync to a national time source, and this app looks to be spot-on. Graphics are retro-cool. New Year's countdown and fireworks are also appreciated :)

It is only able to be displayed in Digital. I'm sure it's just a small glitch.

While you thought your fireworks were a great surprise, we didn't when it scared the daylights out of us while we were sleeping! Not everyone stays up until midnight! My phone volume was up and this made for a very rude awakening! Other than that, this is a great app to use as a bedside clock.

One of the reviews said it could be used as the home screen. Not as far as I can tell. It tells time and has an alarm. Okay for $2. Glad I didn't spend more

Beautifully designed app. Pleasant to look at. Unfortunately, the time displayed is slightly off. Regardless of the time server I put in, the time is typically up to one second off. Nowadays, the clock on your iPhone is near perfect. Therefore, an app called The Clocks, which merely displays your device time in various visual formats, is spot on, as is one called Emerald Time, which compares your device clock to NTP servers. As a reference source, I am using a GPS clock at home. Also, the NIST website time.gov is perfect as well. If this app merely displayed the device time, it would be more accurate than it currently is.

I love this app. I have been using it for years now. It is a perfect example of a well-thought-out and well-executed idea. The app focuses on doing its job and nothing more. There are no ads, no gimmicks, no annoying notifications. So refreshing.

I have used this app as an alarm clock, a desk clock display, a presentation timer, a timer, and I'm sure more.

The feature I have come to love the most is the seconds hand sweep. In the default display, the seconds are presented as an ever-marching series of dots. This simple idea makes identifying how long until the next minute super easy. It is so useful.

If you are looking for a clean, precise, and uncomplicated clock app, this app is for you.

A true atomic alarm clock would let you set the alarm to the very second. For example, 08:01:50 versus 08:01 for your wakeup. This limits you to the same minute you already have on your iphone.

Nice app to have for setting other clocks to an accurate time. The “Tick Sounds” stopped working after I updated my phone to iOS 9.1, but I’m sure it will get resolved.

After the IOS 9 update the alarm clock stopped working.

Before that it was great.

I like this alarm clock very much and use it in night mode every night. I do have a few "wishlist" items:

- Because the iPhone or iPad isn't locked when the app is open, the automatic backup to cloud can't be done. Is there a way to fix that?

- The Apple clock app permits setting multiple alarms for different days and that's a big plus. If Apple begins to permit showing the running clock on the locked screen and allow backup, it will make your app much less desirable. Any way to address multiple alarms? Possible to show the clock running on the locked screen, not just an alert? Alternatively, could the alarm operate from the locked screen, even if the face of the clock wouldn't show?

- The Apple clock apps finally changed to show the actual time on the face of the app. Would that be possible?

Perfect for setting my automatic watches! Been using it for years, and always reliable.

Update: Still the best! In particular, the ability to hear the ticks of the clock so I can be looking at the watch instead of the phone.

I loved this app, but the last update rendered my alarm useless. I have reloaded the alarm only to find the same issue. I did use this when I travel, but due to it not being reliable I switched to another mobile clock. Hope this is resolved in the next update I do like the overall style and options Atomic Clock has.

The exact time as provided from Internet Time Servers, well displayed and easy to use. As others have said, this app was one of the first I downloaded, and I still use it--for instance, every time I take a flight to another time zone. Whenever I need to make sure my watch is keeping accurate time (or to set my watch it needs it), I bring up my Atomic Clock app.

It's a real workhorse of an app, and it "just works". 5 stars from me!

This is app looks great, is easy to use and the developer provides outstanding support with consistent helpful updates.

I like the alarm clock feature and the dim nighttime brightness mode. If battery consumption is now lower as advertised, that's a great improvement.

And at midnight on New Years Eve you can watch "fireworks" right on your phone!

I use it as an alarm clock as well. It's nice, dim and easy to read. Never had issues with this app. Nice to know exactly what time it is.

Splendid app. First place to go to accurately set another timepiece, monitor the passage of our favourite non-spacial dimension, the approach of a crucial moment, or just marvel at an elegantly simple solution to an age old pursuit.

This is one of the first iOS apps I ever downloaded. Still use it all the time. Very minor problems, not very many, and always quickly and correctly fixed! You can't say any of these things about most fly by night, obsolete or abandoned apps. That's assuming they work in the first place which is a big assumption. A simple useful reliable well supported app!

I've tried a number of alarm clock programs over the years and this has been the one I always go back to. I like the simple, non obnoxious interface and it ALWAYS just works!! Great program.

This is one of the first apps I got when I bought my first iPhone (the 3GS). I still use it every single day. It’s my bedside clock on my iPad. When I play a gig, it is running on my iPhone on my music stand so I can keep track of the time. And I use it every year on Dec 31 because it gives a ten second countdown to midnight then shows fireworks.

This is one of the first apps I loaded 4 Years ago, and it is still one of my favorites, I use this as my ONLY clock on my night stand. Clean design, atomic accuracy, cool and original clock face - excellent job! Buy this clock app!

Update: still my primary clock- I travel a lot, and use the clock to accurately change my wristwatch.

A must have for those obsessed with knowing the exact time . If you concentrate using the power of your mind you should be able to slow down you perception of times arrow . Eventually enabling you to stop the clock ... Unfortunately your heart will also stop and you'll be dead , ain't no body got time for that . If you want to reverse time look up doc Brown he's got the only functioning fluks capacitor .

Not sure how this can be improved. Everything that could be configurable is configurable. One thing I hope doesn't change is the fact the status bar isn't hidden in portrait orientation (unless you tap). I use the status bar for gestures, so I prefer it non-hidden when I'm quickly checking the time.

Of all the time clocks that I have tried this is by far the best one that I have found. The LED display blends well but is not over powering. It is great for us older folks as it is easy to read without having to hold it close. Keep up the good work!

This is by far one of the best apps I have on my phone. You customize the clock with colors. I use this all the time to set my watch and clocks in the house accurately. I definitely recommend this app. When you click the "I" on the bottom right of the app, a menu comes up with all these cool features for alarms clock, night mode, and syncing features. It's worth it

Definitely the best alarm clock app available on the App Store. Not only is the display completely unique, but the customizable features are simple to use and easy to setup. My go-to alarm clock while at home or traveling for work.

When we were in Munich the hotel we stayed in had a Gorgy clock. While searching the Internet to for one of their clocks (expensive) I found the app advertised on their home page. it is a fantastic app!

I use this as my wake up alarm because the "flow ringer" sound gently wakes you up. The display options are great and looks fantastic on both iPhone and iPad.

I work where timing, (starting on time) is measured with fractions of a second. My family teases me because I live my life that way. (I'm the one always arriving at parties at the time you told me... :-0 I of course have lots of tools for telling time. This app is my reference clock. It's clean simple interface is easy and pleasure to use. I don't understand how it's possible that the other apps I've tried can do something so seemingly simple, so poorly.

This was one of the first apps I got several years ago and has been one of my favorites. I love being accurate and this is I use it at least twice a year to set my clocks and other times to check on my watch.

I won't detail the features because others have done that already - I just want to add to the overwhelming consensus.

This clock is really beautiful and I use it when my phone is in my car. I don't use the alarm at all so I can't comment on its functionality. But in my opinion this is the best clock around.

I whole heartedly give this app 5 stars! The only thing that I can think of that would make it

better is a sleep timer so it would turn off after a preset time. With a sleep timer I will give it a

10 star rating !!!!!

OK.. I just spent about 5 min. with this app. to sync my new mech. auto watch and I have to say, Im pretty impressed. I didnt think I would like the initial face view, with the circle and typical clock view, thought I wanted the lcd option, at least, but Im pleasantly surprised. Good viewability, crystal clear and enough options to get any detailed information you want, be it 1/60th of a sec. or just a view of digits.

I really like it! and, best of all, it actually appears very very spot on.. I just compared it to several computer desktop sync apps and it hits the mark, at least to the naked eye, perfectly.

After viewing the app. On my ipad2, I'm a little disappointed with the resolution. Looks a little grainy, and not the same as the iPhone 4.... That said, I understand the resolution issues with the iPad... Any work around, possibly making the image smaller, to give slightly more sharpness to display? I'll keep it a 5 star, as functionality is perfect**

Works great. Looks great. I needed an app that would display the exact time without going dim or off. This was just the one. I love that the time is exact. Was able to use it in a broadcast situation to join network programming.

This is Everything I have been looking for in an iPhone alarm clock.

I love the Gorgy clock face, the easy to use customizable options.

The alarm is the best, and great in app sounds.

It basically does everything is says it does, and at $1.99 it is a steal.

Everything works perfectly. All the images are clear and most important, it's easy to use.

One change: I wish the correct time was visible on the face of the app icon. This way, you wouldn't have to keep opening the app to check the time. Other than that, awesome clock.

Sync's with source clock at 'start up' every time. Only really has the one clock face (digital) with the choice of adding month:day:year with the swipe of a finger. Can change the colors of digits and sweeping dots that track the seconds. For the accuracy and simplicity I'd rather have this than any other app.

I attempted to verify my watch as within the minus four plus six COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) standards. I didn't realize that my iPhone/iPad clock could be off seconds per day!

This app is great because it not only syncs with the time server, the display and audible second/minute blips make it easy to regulate or hack your time.

This is the best clock app I've found so far, not just because the display is a beautiful and faithful recreation of the Gorgy Timing original, but because the app synchronizes itself to an internet time server to provide much improved accuracy -- something the iPod itself hasn't yet figured out how to do. Mind you, this app (nor any other) cannot actually adjust your device's clock (as dictated by Apple) to make it accurate, but it CAN compensate for the error in your device's clock and DISPLAY a time value that is accurate to within a fraction of a second (and maybe even better in the future). For those of us who appreciate that, this is a big improvement over the typical clock program that simply displays the device's current time. Lots of options for display format and color, and audio feedback. I have not tested the alarm function as I don't need it, but the rest is great! The developer has been very responsive to my feedback, and I look forward to future versions of this great app!

This is a good app, which I have used for quite a while now. Before this last update, there was an issue with notifications popping up and stopping the program. This really wasn't an issue for me, since I use it on my iPad at night, and my notifications are turned off. However, after the latest update, I have a serious problem. At some point during the first couple if hours (after I fall asleep) the app crashes. This makes it impossible to use as a desktop alarm at night, which was my primary use for the app. Hope to see this fixed soon. Will update to 5 stars when fixed.

I use this app as my clock and alarm. It does what it says and has some nice options. Its accurate and so far crash free!

Suggestion: PLEASE make the settings menu and disable alarm function available in landscape mode. You can't access the info menu in landscape :(

I love the touch screen snooze option and multicolor choices for the numbers display. Kudos to the developers.

Buttons are now available when iPad is upside down. Now how about in landscape orientation? Four stars until then.

This app attempts to sync to one of two Internet time sources when you start it. If you do not have an Internet connection it will just keep trying. This of course would be more of a problem for people with an ipod Touch. There is no option to default to the system time. Therefore this is not usable if you are not on-line. Otherwise it appears to work as advertised.

Love the interface and display. Very clear, concise and efficient. Easy on the eyes. The different colors are great under different lighting conditions. The audible cues are actually comforting in a nostalgic grandfather clock kinda way. Would be nice to be able to select different "tick-tock" sounds. Simpler is better is this case. Well done and pretty darn accurate!

I've owned my iPhone sine the first month it came on the market, and have downloaded a few hundred apps during that time, and this is the first time I've felt obligated to write a review because the app is so exceptional. Nice job :). I'm a road warrior, and use this clock extensively. The only way I could imagine improving it would be the ability to play your 'most played' playlist as a Sleep Timer function when going to sleep.

Had to rate this app after this latest release. Was a great app before, but now with the ability to wake up to songs from my personal playlists, it definitely makes this one of the best apps in the store.

Finally an answer to being exactly on time.

For those who are overly analytical about their clocks being set on the accurate time--this application is for you. At only 99 cents, the ROBUST line up of options and features are sure to please most nerds and techies.

Even set the included ALARM and change key features like alarm sound. As a fellow OCD patient, allow me to give you the "Green Light" to purchase this must have app.

I use this app frequently as I am kind of a watch nut. The previous version was flawless but I updated the program recently and started having problems. When the app initially syncs all is well and the time appears to be correct. Then, about two or three minutes later (usually about the time I am about to get a watch set) it suddenly jumps to a different setting. If I restart the app it will sync back up to the correct time but will fail again.

Too bad. I hope it gets fixed soon.

In response to DoesAnyoneCare's comment, I opened CS2 at 11:58 pm when someone asked how close it was to midnight. The program faithfully clicked off the seconds 11:59:45 through 11:59:49 but then the display changed and counted down 10, 9, etc to 1 and then displayed Happy 2009! with miniature fireworks (which was unexpected). I was like a little kid trying to show everyone around the cool iPhone application. Unfortunately the cool effects only lasted a few seconds and then the standard CS2 format resumed but it was enjoyed while it lasted. I don't know if there are any other surprises on other holidays, but for New Year's Eve, this was fun!

I have both Emerald Time and CS2. CS2 is much more accurate. And notwithstanding all of Emerald Time’s whizbang interface elements, CS2 just cuts to the chase AND it gives audible clicks, which Emerald Time doesn’t give.

I compared both apps’ accuracy to shotwave (5 MHz) shotwave WWV broadcasts (official U.S. Government atomic time) and also to an Oregon Scientific “atomic clock”, which actually receives 60 kHz time signals from WWVB. Both apps are very accurate but CS2 is noticeably closer. I had to use tricks to discern the differences, such as reflect the iPhone’s display so its display of the seconds reflects right in front of the Oregon Scientific clock’s seconds display. Between that and comparing to the shortwave audible clicks, I could tell that Emerald Time was about 200 mS late (0.2 second). CS2 on the other hand, was in perfect synch (certainly as tight as can be humanly detected; perhaps no worse than around 75 ms).

When both these programs speak of needing “Internet access”, they mean “WiFi-based Internet access”; 3G access doesn’t cut it.

I use this to synch my house clocks and all my wristwatches. Very gratifying to know it is so accurate. I understand that Apple locks out the ability to enable it to adjust iPhone/iPod Touch internal unit time--too bad, maybe Apple will relent in the future so we can enjoy that convenience. It is a visually appealing application as well as fun to watch and a great night clock. I recommend you buy it post haste!

If you're anything of a "propeller head", you've got to get this. I probably wouldn't have paid $5 but for $0.99, you bet. I'm 53 and this adds some nostalgia. Great application and now when my buddies want to show off their atomic wristwatches, I just pull out my iPhone.

The interface is beautiful, and functional. I work in broadcast engineering, and the need for a reference clock is essential. This is an excellent tool with which to spot check other reference clocks on various systems for accuracy. Hats off for a stand-out product.

Great for those of us that have to know the exact time to the fraction of a second. Accurate, stylish and much easier to use than a shortwave radio. Why didn't Apple think to build in a network time sync for the iPod touch clock?
