Great Tool for lifting!

Look no further!

As an experienced lifter, this is by FAR the best app to write and track workouts in. I’ve been using the free version for months now, and have bought a year subscription and considering lifetime because it’s that good! Great support and constant upgrades are being made too!! Try it - you won’t regret it!

Worth it

One workout and already bought a lifetime subscription. Markdown workouts and a huge library of exercises. Totally worth the money if you’re coming from another app or notes app tracking.
Also, having the ability to purchase a lifetime subscription is amazing - other apps forcing you into a monthly charge is ridiculous and I will always support a dev who makes open source software.

Flexible, Great Pricing, & Support

I’ve tried multiple workout trackers over the years but this app has been the best. As some reviews point out, it takes a bit of patience to learn but it is well worth the small investment of time. Moreover, it’s one of the few apps that includes a lifetime purchase model in an era defined by an over reliance on subscription models. Finally, the developer is constantly improving the app in great ways. This app deserves far more attention than it is given.

No More Notebook

This app allows the ability to take your old-fashioned notebook and put it into an app to track your progress. You can put as much as little into it as you want by customizing workout. In addition to the app, there’s a great community that’s willing to help you figure out anything you struggle with.

Best Lifting App with Incredible Flexibility

This may be the only lifting app on the market that allows you to create any program you want and for that reason I have to rate it a step above the rest. The developer is also extremely active in fixing and improving the app and is easy to contact in his discord server. The only thing missing from this app that other lifting apps have is Apple Watch support which for some is no big deal, but personally I hate being on my phone in the gym and being able to mark off sets on the watch would make this app perfect. Still give it a 5 stars because there is no lifting app better.

Flexible but not simple

Amazing if you’re someone who enjoys the nerdier side of lifting and wants full control over your program. If you’re looking for a simple tracker, this probably is more than you need, but even for that it’s pretty close to other simpler apps. And with Liftosaur, once you’re ready to up the level of customization, you’ll be able to do that without a big learning curve.

Changes to program aren’t saving

Very cool app, super flexible, it I’m running into issues with saving changes I’ve made to my current workout. I changed my warm-ups from percentages to hardcoded weights and save them but the next day the warm-ups were back to percentage. Also, why does it throw an error when I want to have a different warm-up for squats on week two versus week one. Since my second week is heavier, I was wanting to program in an additional warm-up set. Otherwise, I’ve loved the app and the programming ability so far. Keep it going.
Update: this was my user error! I wasn’t clicking “apply” prior to saving. Updated my review to 5 stars. Love the continued app support and improvements.

Great App - Awesome Developer

This app is superb, but perhaps even more excellent is the developer’s engagement in the community.
While there is probably room for improvement in the documentation (simplification in some areas, organization of ideas) reading through the documentation page in its entirety will give you all the information you need to make your desired workout in the app.
For those who do not want to go through personally setting up, there are many popular programs already implemented.
The exercise library is good, with ways to add custom exercises that exceeds what I have seen in other apps.

Essential and Mindblowing

This app is pretty niche, but for anyone that follows weightlifting programs with any kind of built-in progression, this app is absolutely mind-blowing. The developer created an internal coding language (“Liftoscript”) that can by used to implement ANY form of progression. If coding sounds too intimidating, the app has built-in programs that don’t require any coding, the Discord community and dev are incredibly helpful in helping you with programs, and there’s even a custom GPT that will help you turn programs into Liftoscript code using natural language.
I’ll give you example of how this app is used. I follow a program that uses linear progression to increase weights by 5lbs after a successful workout. In Hevy, Strong, or most other apps you would have to look at your previous workout and then add in your additional weight manually. With Liftosaur, that work is automatically done via the code after you successfully complete a pre-programmed number of sets at your target weight. That may sound trivial and several other apps can do this. But that’s a simple example - many weightlifting programs follow complicated progression and deload rules using % to 1RM, % to 5RM, etc. and this can ALL be programmed in Liftosaur. That is unique, incredibly helpful, and no other app does it.
If you’re thinking about spending $70-100 on lifetime for a weightlifting app, there is no better developer to support than the one-man developing team behind Liftosaur.

Got its issues

Couple weeks into using this app while taking a look at other options such as StrengthLogs and Boostcamp.
I like the idea of a lifting app for coders, but the ease of use in the other two apps listed above is just so much more convenient for things as simple as adjusting the amount of weight/reps you did for a specific exercise during a workout.
The fact that they have a dark mode and this app still doesn’t is also another thing thing that made me switch over.
The nail in the coffin was at random times, the app refuses to load and will remain stuff on the startup screen with wifi, without wifi, etc. until I delete the app and reinstall it which became really annoying to have to do when I’m already at the gym expecting it to work as intended.
Overall it is promising but not for me.

Helps me keep lifting

I needed to implement a lifting program that gave me the the flexibility to focus on what is important to me and work within my constraints. I only wanted to squat, deadlift, bench, and overhead press as to keep workouts at maximum of an hour. I didn’t want a 16+ AMRAP set and preferred to do doubles and triples that I could put some intensity behind. This app allowed me to implement such a program. Now I’m in the gym regularly, have fun moving some relatively heavy weight, am done in an hour, and feel fresh the next day. If my goals change or I need to make adjustments I know this app will allow me do that. This app is perfect for those that want or need more control over their workout programs. I think that without this app weightlifting would be something I “used to do.” I honestly feel that it’s allowed me to keep lifting and that is a wonderful thing.

It’s OK

I like that it adds warm-ups set automatically, but it’s really frustrating when it pulls my reps and weight from a different day when you’re doing same out with different reps and weight on different days

Best workout app

This is the best app there is for workout apps.
Does take a little while to figure out. But once you do it’s great. And on top of that if you have any questions email the developer and he emails you back next day or even same day. Tons of updates just buy it you won’t regret it

Very adaptable

This is the first app review I’ve every left so I do mean it. I’ve bounced around between apps, and while most workout apps generally work for most things, I’ve found it’s always difficult to program for more complicated routines (for example, routines with stages or periods).
The “scripting” in this app is a very neat differentiating feature and offers a ton of flexibility.

This app is def made for the logic oriented/developer who has a passion for fitness. As any new app there is room for improvement but unlike a lot of apps, this developer is responsive enough to implement positive change and I believe that it will be quite successful!
