It starts with a wide collection of highly customizable widgets, which range in function from date, to weather, to astronomy. Each can be adjusted precisely to best fit your desired function and appearance.

This set of widgets can then be dynamically scheduled to appear on your home screen following rules you define. For example, a particular widget could show the weather first thing in the morning, then your calendar during your work day, then switch to your Activity ring progress as you wrap up your day. This lets you take full advantage of each slot on your home screen.

The app itself also includes a wide collection of tools, such as a weather app, a timezone converter, a calendar. These tools can automatically launch based on the active widget tapped.

Notes:

• Widgetsmith optionally integrates with Apple Health. This data is used to display your step and activity if you select one of those widget types. Permission for Widgetsmith to access this data is controlled through the Apple Health app.

• Widgetsmith includes an optional premium subscription. This is offered on a monthly or annual basis. If you choose to purchase a subscription your payment will be charged to your iTunes account. Subscriptions will automatically renew unless canceled within 24-hours before the end of the current period. Two stars because I appreciate what you’re trying to do and there’s definitely a need, but it’s just not customizable enough and the options available are not space efficient at all. For instance, why can’t I choose to see the date and temperature in the same box? It’s taking up a lot of valuable real estate where several actionable apps could be otherwise, so it really needs to pack in a better punch. I can’t use this for anything.

Also as a minor note, even the small widget’s font looked pretty low res, so I don’t see the aesthetic appeal either.

I just installed version 2.2.1 of Widgetsmith and the problem persists - although I have a nice Candy Cane border now because Christmas is in 2 days.

The image, a screenshot of Wikipedia, is blurry for some reason.

It is impossible to zoom in or out using Widgetsmith.

The app made a nice calendar widget, granted. It also makes a few widgets that I'm not currently using, but I tried them by accident or while learning.

If you want REALLY customized widgets, this probably isn’t the app for you. It’s fine for what it is but the options are pretty limited and you don’t really get to customize or spice things up to be exactly what you’re looking for or to fit your aesthetic. That said, if you just want some basic extra options this app is fine.

I had this app for around a month now and it is awesome, it lets me know the countdown till Christmas. And this app also lets me know the sunrise when I wake and look at my notifications on Snapchat and Instagram. This app also lets me remember some old memories that I had. First off, I can’t imagine using my phone without these widgets anymore. But with the most recent update, the weather widgets of any size and style no longer display the correct temperature on the home screen. If I’m in the app adjusting settings and whatnot it reads the correct temp of 50°, but the exact same widgets on the home screen all say 80°. Or 43° is 73°. Whatever the actual temperature is it displays 30° higher. Nothing I have tried has fixed this issue- making new widgets with the same data, resetting the location, even reinstalling the app.

I’m paying for this data, and I can’t rely on it.

I really like this app, the option to customize your own widget is great. And with the new aesthetics and artwork, it makes my home screen look even better. I would recommend thought to have a way to where people can make their own aesthetic theme and have a way to share it with everyone else using the app. Also if there would be a way for users to create their own artwork, so there can be a way for people to share their creativity, and also nail the aesthetic on their Home Screen just how they want it. I think having customizable art work would be an awesome idea, and a great way for people to share their artistic talent and help others complete their Home Screen. Another thing is that all the widgets are awesome and I love the new artwork, but it’s hard because all of the best artwork is for a premium membership, and it’s a lot to pay for, just to have cool looking widgets. And I do t think many people will be desperate enough to to pay that much just to make their home screen and widgets be aesthetically pleasing. If there was a different way that people could use the Widgetsmith pro artwork and widgets such as, sharing the app with a certain number of people, or rating it on the AppStore and writing suggestions, that would be a way for people who don’t have the extra money to spend on these designs a way to nail their aesthetic.

I liked widget smith a lot, it had a lot of what i needed in order to make my phone look how i wanted it too and it was free. Something kept telling me that it was too good to be true though. Usually apps like these come with really high prices and ads and stuff on everything, but this app didn’t do that. Then, one day I was on my phone per usual and it literally took me off the app i was on and took me to widget smith, at first i thought i was just a glitch so i reset my phone, but this continued. My phone glitched REALLY BAD even to the point where it would just turn off in the middle of me doing something, like it died. This didn’t just happen to me too, i’ve seen lots of other people have this problem with the app, it made my phone glitch really bad and sometimes it froze completely. This happened to my friend as well, it was deleting apps off her phone, taking her off phone calls and putting her on widget smith, and it messed up her text messages. The way that I know for a fact it was this app is because when i deleted it NEVER HAPPENED TO MY PHONE AGAINN!!! It never glitched bad like widget smith had made it do. I mean no hate to the creators of this app but there’s something wrong with it. Download it if you want though.

This app has been so fun to play around with and customize my phone. I spent the first day after I downloaded creating a custom theme based off a book and movie series. It turned out great and I loved it.

With the latest update, however, I was disappointed. I had Custom Text widgets with quotes from the books, but with the new update the text is very small and does not use all of the space on the widget and consequently ruined the aesthetic.

I’m hoping this can be remedied in a future update by allowing users to change the font size, or if I’ve overlooked that feature, please tell me.

Otherwise, the app is great.
