Just a suggestion of octaves

The only thing I’d probably see is if I could get at least one octave lower. The offset just isn’t low enough but other than that, absolutely amazing. I used to have one but it was a lower octave and I’d really appreciate a lower or higher octave toggle.

AMAZING app. Would be 11/10 with the ability to make tabs!!

This is the only kalimba app I've found that goes up to 21 tines, lets you adjust the tuning to each tine, and SOUNDS LIKE A REAL KALIMBA. The UI is simple, intuitive, and unobtrusive, and the playing function is flawless. I purchased the upgrade to support the creator and oh my god??? All of the instrument options sound INCREDIBLE—like...better than other apps that are FOR that instrument. Example: The piano option has an ethereal, frosty tone, the perfect amount of reverb and sustain, and doesn't sound super plunky or bright like so many apps tend towards. Also, I'm obsessed with the music box option!! Just like the piano and the kalimba options, it's perfectly balanced, soft and clear, and so sweet sounding. I got this app for on-the-go when I don't have my kalimba with me, but I've ended up using it more than my kalimba even at home. 😂 The ONLY thing that would make this app better would be the ability to make tabs. I still haven't found an app that feels intuitive when it comes to tabs, and I KNOW this creator would do a fantastic job. I would happily pay for another upgrade for that ability!!

I love this already and I already learned how to play subwoofer lullaby (a song in Minecraft) and I just love how you can customize the background color and customize a lot of things! It’s super free unless you want to play other instruments which requires money but I really really love this app! I’ve had it for years and even purchased the plus extension. It’s simple, sounds amazing and gives that warm kalimba feeling plus more. Simple and cute!

So my kalimba got a bit broken qnd the 3 key is super messed up. So I got this to kinda relive it a little and it was very nice! Smooth ui and really adorable design. And if you would like it to be more true to a real kalimba, it has some features to do that such as one which makes the key play after you tap it and not exactly when you do. Its great! My only critique is that it could use a little more customization.

too much fun

I love this app so much. I started playing when I saw someone use it on tiktok and I never wanted to put my phone down since I started. The music is clean, the captions are helpful, and the customization is so fun to mess around with. This app is perfect for people who are neurodivergent and fidget a lot, as you can figure out new patterns you like of songs and you can learn songs on it. I used this app to actually teach myself the piano, kalimba, and how to identify notes in only a few months. I love this app so much and it is perfect for everyone aged any age, including people over 50.

Great app!

I was quite impressed with this app even before I purchased the very reasonably priced add-on pack of sounds. Real kalimbas are sometimes out of tune and a little restrictive. You can change keys with this app, the sound is really quite nice, and in someways is easier to play than a real kalimba . If you enjoy creating your own music and are looking for a slightly different sound to layer in, this can be a terrific add on to your pallet of sounds!

Awesome Kalimba!

This Kalimba is very responsive and pretty customizable, the different instrument sounds you get with the in app purchases are great as well. What would make this kalimba perfect would be to also add minor keys in the tuning section as well as adding a chromatic layout. A chromatic layout such as the ones available on either the Ling Ting Snow Whisperer or Seeds Pisces chromatic kalimbas combined with the current ability to change the tuning of each tine individually would be a great addition to this app.

I love this game. I think it's a good game to play when your bored or not feeling well. You can change the colors and background theme. You can also choose if there is background sounds, the labels, and the captions on top of your screen and etc! :3

I have a big suggestion though. Can you make an update so that you can change the background to something from your files or camera roll? I think it would be an awesome update if you added that.

Perfect for beginners like me!!

I’ve been wanting a kalimba/Keylimba for a while now and I’ve been researching/ looking for some to buy and learning to play ect. And this app is PERFECT for getting used to using your thumbs and practicing songs! I’ve been practicing some nursery rhymes and easy songs and it’s so fun. The settings are very easy to understand and adjust even for beginners that don’t know much about it like what the tines are. It’s very fun to mess with or to practice yet and it’s really making me want to go through with buying and continuing to learn kalimba! The little face at the bottom of the screen is so cute and I love that it lets you customize the background/ keys and record!! It’s perfect for people considering learning or buying kalimba!!

Virtual Kalimba

The developer really did a great job with the finger spacing, tonality and nailing the essence of the kalimba on the UX side of things, complete with different tunings, number of note tines and extended samples of other instruments. A few wishes for continued use across iOS would be to include midi support to extend the time playing to all different audio sources/ synth engines, audio unit extension and inter app audio to enable access in AUM or other cross app use. Having the ability to play in the background would also be a great addition. Lastly would be a toggle to turn off the character animation.

All in all a great experience that feels great! We’ll done.

Best Kalimba App Ever!

I’ve been lately OBSESSED with kalimbas. My dad got me one for Christmas and I’ve been so impatient. I was telling my friend about it and they said that there were apps about it. They recommended Keylimba to me so I downloaded it. I’m SO glad I did. This is the best Kalimba app ever I swear I’m being 10/10 honest with you. It may not be for everyone but it’s for me! It’s super realistic and I use real Kalimba tutorials to play on this! You can change the color, markings, tuning, and tines on the Kalimba. You can add reverb, and you can have the notes on the top of your screen! I really like this app it’s incredibly addicting. I even wrote some songs on it! 5 stars. :)

A wonderful app

I downloaded this kalimba app recently because I discovered a love for the sweet tones and relaxing ambiance of kalimba music. I wanted to try a simulation to see if I would enjoy learning to play one of my own.

I like the many options available to customize my kalimba experience on this app. I have so far used only the free version, and I find it most enjoyable. I now plan to get a real kalimba to learn on, but I will most likely keep using Keylimba as a learning resource for on-the-go moments when a physical instrument is not appropriate.

Suggestion: Picture in Picture Video Support

Amazing, perfect, and beautiful app. One big improvement for me would be if I could both use the app while watching kalimba videos. Currently when I listen to videos, I cannot make any sounds on the kalimba app. The "Kalimba Real" app on the app store uses unity and is able to do this (but I like your app better). I am using the free version. Is there a solution to play your app and listen to videos or would getting premium help?

Honestly, I love this app cause writing cute songs and lullabies is super easy cause it cause it shows the note in the settings and always you to record what you play! It’s also very simple to use and I love that it’s most important features are free and it’s not one of those annoying pay to plays. I love this app so much

I love this app so much already I have an 8 key kalimba so this is perfect for songs that need more than those 8 keys.

I haven’t had it for very long but I love every thing about it. Like how you can change the key colors to your flag and how you can change the back ground color, I love how clear it sounds and how you can turn on and off reverb, and how you can record and play what ever you record and still play the kalimba while your recording is playing, honestly if I could give it 100/5 stars I would it’s amazing :) I would definitely recommend

I don’t play music but…

This is really good , even someone like me who doesn’t play music can learn and play this easily, I downloaded it about 5-6 hours ago and already can play 2 songs relatively well ( compared to earlier at least ) , the 2 songs btw are gravity falls opening and Sweden from Minecraft, also the pride flag themes are very good , I’m aroace btw and I get both flags ( aromatic and asexual) to use , and it’s not June so you can tell they actually support lgbtq+ unlike .. well…. Basically every other company lol

Excellent app. Some suggestions!

I downloaded this a few days ago, and man has it been fun. Really cool concept, executed brilliantly. Ever option in the settings feels like it has a purpose and the customizability here is really impressive. With just 3 dollars, it also unlocks a bunch of extra instruments, and the kinds of sounds you can produce are quite neat. This, combined with the awesome looping system, means you can have multiple instruments playing at once. Now, some suggestions I have to improve the app: 1. I think adding a “hold” option to the settings would be great. I’m not entirely sure how it would be implemented, but having a feature to extend the samples into long tones, instead of just short blips, would significantly benefit the saw and some waves, as well as the recorder sample. 2. The tuning system is really polished currently, and I think it could be enhanced by adding a chromatic option. Due to this instrument being digital, it is not limited to the practicality of a real kalimba. Having a chromatic set of notes would be extremely useful in varying up scales, to make an even more versatile experience. 3. This is just a personal preference, but I think it would be great if an option to stop the jiggling of the face at the bottom when nothing is being played. It is somewhat distracting, and kind of disrupts the calmness of the app. But that’s a light suggestion Anyway, overall great app!

The Keylimba is very simple and easy to use. The design of the kalimba is very minimalistic and cute and one feature i think adds to the experience is the customization that's available. You can tune the kalimba, changes the colors, and choose how you want it to sound (if you pay). I would totally recommend to anyone looking to start the kalimba or if you just want to have fun! This is literally one of my favorite apps of all time o(*^▽^*)o like my title, it’s so entertaining and if you go on Pinterest and search up kalimba notes, there will appear millions of sheets of kalimba covers for songs you may or may not like!!! I personally love making covers of the Minecraft songs. Fun App

Great way to utilize your leisure time. Lots of colors to choose from many times you can play with including different sounds effects.

Many songs I enjoy playing by ear, it keeps me entertained during my down time.

I love how this is one of the unique apps that don’t have user being bombarded with annoying adds every time we use it unlike Perfect Piano app🙄.

I was scrolling through piano apps and found this. When I downloaded it, I was so amazed! I could not believe this was free.. if it was like, 2 bucks I would have paid for this! I don’t have any problems, everything is so good. My favorite thing is recording and sharing my songs, making more people like the app. Thank you for this, basically teaching me another instrument. Amazing🌈

This map is amazing, if you feel the need of a virtual kalimba, this app is for you, 100 percent recommended. You have several options for your kalimba, like how many tabs, background color, note color, and even tuning! You can also record your playing and layer it which is so cool and unique! There’s so much more like paid subscription to get different instrument sounds and such. There’s just so many things about this app that makes it great and I think it’s worth the download.

The app is great and just like the real Kalimba, but I have one problem. Theres some songs I want to play that require 2 notes to be played at the same time. This app allows that but the keys are too close to each other that you can’t do it if they are right next to each other

Maybe the creator can make it so when you click the space in-between the keys, it plays them both? Otherwise, this game is great!

Glitch :(

I love this app so much it’s so fun and playing my favorite songs and I’m in the LBTGQ+ so the pride flag selection is so cute to me as a transgender pansexual it makes me so happy to see you support not only me but everyone! But, I’m having problems with the app everything in the app is absolutely perfect I love it, but after a while it wont let me hear the notes like it wont let hear anything from the app, I even went on other apps and I could hear it I’m not sure if this is a glitch or it’s my phone but I think its a glitch I have to delete and Download the app to hear it :(

Could use more customization

The game is great but the keyboard needs more customization. Currently there are 5 kinds of markings red, blue, plain and both plus the recent addition of the pride stuff but what if your not a part of, or don’t support pride then what’ do you do? Because the first 3 are super bland and the pride ones are pride. I think they should allow players to create their own custom Keylimba but it’s just a suggestion, but still over all the game is super! I’ve learned a couple songs already! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's so amazing!!

I love this so much it's so cute with the little person at the bottom and how it blushes when you record 🥺 it gives so much serotonin! And buying the purchase in game is so worth it everything sounds so amazing and magical I love it! I mainly bought the in game purchase to help support the creator! I really appreciate the pride flags it's just made my day really! Keep up the amazing work and I hope the pride flags stay forever and that maybe we can get even more in the future! 🥰

It’s amazing, but I think it needs a little something

So far my expectations for this app have been amazing, but, there could be a certain thing done to make it better. I was personally thinking that their could be some sort of Notepad/book that you could write Notes into for certain songs. That way, it would be easier to memorize notes and easily get help if you mess one up on a certain pattern of notes.

Besides that, there are no other issues with the app, or certain things I thought they could add besides this. I’m honestly impressed by this app and how fun it is. So I totally recommend it for people to practice on and memorize certain notes and pitches on!

Wow. I am blown away

I wish I could rate you more stars than just 5. This app allows you to play an instrument that you might not own, but yet you can still play. It sounds just like a real Kalimba, and the little character at the bottom is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m so surprised that this app does not cost money, because it has so many things to help you have a better experience. Although I have not purchased the add on, I think the whole app is still amazing. Even without the extra purchase. Keep up the good work :)

super cute game :D (also a little suggestion)

This game is amazing!!! I love how you can change the color of certain things!! The little cute face in the middle made the game 1000x better <3. But I had an idea when I started playing the game more. Maybe you should add an option were you can also customize the little cute face :). There should be a category we’re you can style/customize the face and there should maybe be hats or just change the color of the face. That was just a little idea I got while playing the game. (Please don’t let have you pay if you actually do the customize option :,) ).

I love Keylimba I saw it on Pinterest and I downloaded it just to make this one sound, long story short I lost the video and have been trying to make it ever since it’s actually super easy! And the app is amazing I have found no bugs at all. And you can record sound this app it perfect for everyone little kids, tweens, teens, and adults even grandparents will love it, think your parents are to old for this app it’s literally so easy! Also you can change the amount of keys and the tune! What are you doing still reading?! Go download it!

Wow

Okay i never played an actual instrument before and usually when I download apps like these it mostly requires payment to continue using it after 5 minutes of playing on it but this app lets you play on the keylimba completely free, and after watching a few tutorials I know 3 songs, it’s been about 4 hours since I’ve downloaded this I’m honestly impressed that I learned how to do a few songs:)

Very Good

I think this app is a really good replacement for a real one if you have no money or is like me who doesn’t have long enough fingernails to play (my fingernails don’t pass my flesh so I figured it’d be better for my fingers not to get one). The little guy on the bottom is very cute and adjusting the settings is very easy. Sometimes, I have this problem of no sound coming out even when it’s on max volume and when I go to a different app with sound it has sound but it’s not frequent so it’s fine. The fact that there are no ads is also really amazing to me and it just makes the app better. Overall I think it’s an amazing app that should at least satisfy you.

Excellent

I own a real kalimba and have been playing it and composing music on it every day for about two years now. I found this app and thought it would be fun to mess around with if I got bored, but I didn’t expect it to be this good.

This app is the closest thing there is to a real kalimba on a virtual platform. The sound is crisp, clear, and (unlike a lot of other instrument apps) does not clip at all. It is very responsive, though it does take some getting used to as there are no actual tines to feel; but it is definitely worth getting used to. The glissandos are very smooth once you figure out how to do them. I also kind of like to shred on the kalimba, and I am pleasantly surprised at how fast I can play this virtual one without it glitching or messing up; as far as I can tell, the only reason anything on this app messes up is because of my human error, which is great!

There are no provisions for note blocking or a wah effect, but those things aren’t really needed in order to play the kalimba (but it would be really cool if it had them).

The reverb effect sounds good if you want a space-y ethereal vibe to your music.

My favorite thing about this app is that you can change the scale of the kalimba, making it very useful for composition.

Overall, I love this app, and would highly recommend it to anyone who plays the kalimba or composes.

i love it!

i watched a video of someone playing playdate and i wanted to get one ever since and i started to watch more video of people playing until i stumbled across a video of someone playing using this app last year? i guess you could say im a supporter if this app from the start kinda but i totally recommend this app if you arent sure you wanna get the physical one. i like it a lot and its easy to figure out how everything works! and if you cant im certain there are things out there that can help you. i totally suggest this app :) -Zoe

21 Kalimba and tuning issues.

I love the app but when using it to play 21 key Kalimba songs, I noticed the notes go 4 notes higher from the 17 key Kalimbas instead of giving the Kalimba 4 lower extra bass notes. Also, there are songs I want to play with custom tunings and custom tuning in the app is great but full capability to customize each note on individual tunes would make this app a great substitute for when I don’t have my real kalimba. Other than that the app is great! I’ve used it to play, practice and even tuned my kalimba with it.

I Barely Write Reviews But...

When I was looking for a Kalimba app, I searched for a while through the reviews and looks etc. I downloaded this one and I am not the least bit disappointed. I hardly ever write reviews, but this app deserves it. The look and sound is beautiful, it is customizable, it is very easy to use, and there is a lot you can do with it. I love this app. It has helped me learn how to play several songs etc for the Kalimba and this is by far my favorite Kalimba app yet. There is a $4.99 purchase for extra features including different instruments and they sounds great as well! It is worth it. I love everything about this app. This is definitely the best Kalimba app I have played with and it won’t be deleted anytime soon.

this is such a wonderful app! i love how you can customize the colors and switch the settings of the sound of the kalimba. the clean design is pleasing to look at, and the ability switch up the labels and markings for better playing was great too! to ive been wanting a kalimba for a while but was disappointed when i couldnt get one, but this app makes me so much happier! thank you for this wonderful app! i was playing it during my classes and it released a lot of pent up stress from school. thank you! i highly recommend this app :D

I absolutely love this game!!!!

I’ll try not to write a long review. I’ve learned to play several songs and i have 3-4 hours on this game. It’s really a good game, something that I think you should add to it is a place to keep the notes you have, or have a way to write down notes so that you don’t have to look back in forth irl to see what notes you have are. That’s just a suggestion! If you’re wondering to download the game I think you should it’s amazing!

Love it.

Absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t change anything about this app. It gives everyone without a Kalimba a chance to try it without forcing you to pay right as you open the app. It doesn’t have ads, and there is tons of features you can use without the paid version, and if you want the paid version it’s only $4.99.. such a great offer. I would really recommend getting this app if you’re looking to buy a Kalimba or if you want to make music for fun.

amazing, though just one addition I’d want to see!

i got this app so I wouldn’t worry over a real kalimba/thumb piano like spending big sums of money, worrying about breaking it, and worrying about my fingernails! I can actually practice the kalimba and have fun with it!

there is one thing I’d like to see added though: being able to tune individual tines instead of multiple. maybe an ‘advanced tuning’ tab somewhere? i really love how I’m able to play sheets with this app but im a bit limited to what I can play without special tuning 😅

Love it, but...

I love the keylimba app very much. It gives me a way to play the kalimba and see if I like it without spending any money, and it’s pretty easy to learn songs since I can switch from numbers to letters and change the amount of tines whenever I want. But there’s one thing: I prefer the super simple style of the keylimba before the update. It was a very minor update, I know, but it just bugs me because the little face looks like an oval now. Maybe you could give us the option to use the “3D” graphics or the normal ones? Other than that little problem, I totally recommend it! (Honestly I can just pay no attention to what the face looks like if I want to, it’s just something that bugs me so I wanted to suggest a change)

Lovely

I downloaded this app in July 24, 2020 and my goodness has it grown. I also purchased the added bonus of extra instruments and I absolutely love it! The lyre/harp is one of my favorites. The only thing that bothers me would be the change in the little voice blob since the new version 6.0 makes it 3d and adds a light rim on him. I loved Keylimba for its simplicity and versatility and I get distracted really easily if there is a stark contrast in an area (like the light rim on little voice blob). I hope there’s a feature in the future that allows players to choose between the new look of blob boy or the old/first 2d version instead since I’m sure there are people who do like its new look. I’m still giving this app a 5 stars because it’s an amazing app and my bother is just an extremely minor complain and preference. I’ve always wanted a kalimba but I haven’t been able to purchase one physically so when I heard of this in July, I was starstruck. Thank you so much developer for making this amazing app :) I and many others love it so, so much. (Also, the new reverb effect makes music sound more ethereal it’s so cool!)

this is such a cool app ! but a little request its not q big thing or a must and doesnt diminish the app by not having it, but could we have the feature of coloring the markings? i wanted to make a bee themed kalimba and i wanted to color the keys white and black or just brown with a yellow backround which you already have

this is only a request it doesnt effect the game its just for customization you should really focus on the key things but this is only a thing i thought would be cool its fine if yu dont implement it just a thought anyways great app i love it and have a nice day!

Simple, cute, almost perfect!

I never write app reviews but had to this time... thanks for making this app!! Especially free and no ads. I recently bought a kalimba and would love to use this app as a way to practice without annoying my fellow residents too much and to preserve my thumbs! One thing that would make it perfect for me — I’d like to third the suggestion of having the ability to tune individual tines up or down as this would be more accurate to a real kalimba than tuning all the tines to a certain key 🙂 Otherwise, I can see this app as being an excellent motivator for me to practice my kalimba!

Amazing.

I’ve been trying to learn how to play the kalimba and see if it’s worth getting one (a 20-50$ instrument). I’ve never learned how to play anything before and this app is so amazing!! It’s perfect to get the first taste of the beautiful sound of kalimba, although it doesn’t sound exactly the same but since it’s not the physical instrument in front of you, this makes sense. This is perfect for beginners, people who wanna play/practice on the go and people on the fence about getting into it or starting a new hobby such as this. This can also be used to introduce children to the instrument, which is always fun. My first kalimba will be here next week and I’m very excited! It’s on the cheaper end, as it’s my first but 100% this app helped me decide to get it at all.

Amazing and simple kalimba app! But...

This is an AMAZING kalimba app and I love it so much with its quality sound and clear interface. The only thing I would absolutely love to do is to be able to tune each key to a flat or sharp. I haven’t been able to play some of my songs because of this and since the sounds are already in the app because of the tuning feature, I think that being able to tune each key would be absolutely lovely!

I love, LOVE the design of this! It's so simple yet elegant. The fact that the colors, the tines, the labels are all customizable is such a big plus! I've used this to practice some songs when I'm away from my physical kalimba and its such a big help. The smiley face is my favorite and everything just comes together for a relaxing and amazing app to use. The recording feature is so cool but I have yet to figure out when to use it myself. Thanks for keeping it simple (so rare these days)!!

Tried several kalimba apps, most of them are made to be like a video game and IMO loses the relaxing spirit of this simple and beautiful instrument... But this one is JUST RIGHT. Love the clean interface. What’s more, the sound is really good and the playing experience is pretty realistic.

Since this app has the feel of a real instrument, I’d really like to have some additional ting configurations that are less common, such as the 21-note kalimba (I’ve often wanted to reach just a few notes lower than C4 to play certain songs), or the “lotus” tuning which I’m also curious about.

Pro tip: Switch your phone off silent

I was going insane because I couldn’t hear the music I was supposedly creating, but 100% user error — I just had to physically switch my phone off silent! This app is beautifully designed and I am looking forward to playing around and maybe actually learning a song. It’s already helped with my anxiety and fidgeting. My only suggestion would be to make it rotate so I could play it while holding the phone naturally, instead of landscape only.
