New understanding for stunted growth.

I’ve been learning Spanish to different degrees as an adult for many years. Using this app has triggered something in my mind that has allowed me a confidence and knowledge moving forward. I’m over 30% through the Spanish unit and i am having such a good time even though most of the content has been review for me so far. That said, the premise of the app has invigorated and solidified what i already know.

Best thing ever

This app is entirely free and yet it’s the only app I would actually pay money for. I want to give this guy money I love this thing. It teaches you the language without pressure and guides you through it step by step. Actually incredible.

Impressive work!

I listened to Turkish course and it was really amazing. Even though this guy is not a native Turkish speaker, he had a great pronunciation and also a very unique way of teaching. I had fun while learning!

Also the student was very clever and even though she didn't have any Turkish background, she handled it very well and it was really impressive.

And as there was a teacher-student method for learning, I just imagined myself one of the students and tried to answer to those questions!

I'm looking forward to more Turkish lessons!

The single best language-learning tool.

What a genius way to learn a new language. Nothing has ever worked for me like this. Connecting the language you are trying to learn with a language you know is brilliant! I love listening and responding as if I am actually taking the lesson with him. I saw genuine results after listening to beginner Italian and everyone here in Italy is super impressed! I recommend this app to everyone.

It’s really good just one thing

I got this app because someone on the comment section of a video said this is a good way to learn along with Duolingo so I got it and it’s really good but I wish it also had Russian because I’m learning French and Russian and it would be nice to have Russian on here as well

Simple & Impactful

This app is amazing. The fact that it was created by just one person is absolutely insane. 8 languages plus english for spanish speakers. I listened to the first 1-2 Turkish lessons and I can remember every word that was brought up in the lesson. Not through boring rote method or memorization, but from understanding how the language works from the ground up. I’m excited to see where this app goes with even just a little additional funding! Great work :))

I love languages!! I’ve been using this to review/practice languages I’ve learned a bit in the past AND for new ones. So good!! Even the ones I’ve learned a little in the past, he gives great little pointers throughout that help me to make connections and remember more than the first time I learned. The approach is so simple yet effective!!! I wouldn’t have thought I’d like this audio style, because I’m someone who loves taking notes and visual aides and I would’ve thought the gamified-style apps would suit me better because I’m easily distracted and lose motivation quickly. But this has been working great! And maybe it’s the simple approach that’s helping me stay focused. And when I need to I just re-do a lesson for more practice. But you know when you’re learning a language and you’re like translating a thought from your native language word for word into the other one? I don’t find myself doing that as much now from using LT. it’s like I’m slowly starting to think in the other language. AND ITS FREE?!!! And no ads?!!! For something language related that is RARE!!!!! Spread the word y’all!!! Little by little we CAN learn other languages!!

If you want to sit in on a private 1 on 1 session from an expert this is the way to do it

There are no points or awards or achievements or annoying reminders or patronizing splash pages interrupting everything you do. There is also no interactivity. No quizzes or matching or looking at pictures.

There are only hours-long sessions broken down into 5-15 minute audio clips that you can listen to over and over for free with your phone locked

I listen while driving, at work, and at home (even though the Thinking Method recommends you devote your full attention to the lesson!)

I used this program to learn more Spanish in 6 months than I had previously learned in about ten years of repeatedly starting up programs like Duolingo and losing interest before learning anything worthwhile

I love this method

If you want an instant boost in confidence, vocabulary, and sentence structure when speaking a learning language- this app is the best. I’m understanding how the language works and I’m able “to find” what I want to say instead of depending solely upon memorization.

I can’t recommend this app enough. I only wish Italian was a complete course and not just an into.

Fantastic!!

I rarely write reviews but just have to with this one. How does a baby learn language? By hearing and speaking it! They don’t read before they speak. Language Transfer takes this approach - let’s hear it and talk through it before worrying about reading it. I have been working to learn Greek and started with Duolingo for about 2 weeks before starting Language Transfer which I’ve been using now about a week. I feel 100x more confident after one week of Language Transfer than 3 weeks of Duolingo. Excited to continue learning!!

I’m only on lesson 6 but I’ve learned so much already! There are many apps that help with vocabulary but this app helps you use the words in context and how also helps with pronunciation. Side note: please consider adding Shona, although it’s not widely spoken. You can’t find it on many apps and this would be a great way to learn it.

I’ve used Duolingo for almost 2 years now and after 2 days and 5 lessons on this app, I have learned more than I’ve learned on Duolingo. Seriously, every time I advocate for Language Transfer, I sound like they’re paying me. Best language learning app

I’m one of those people that grew up with Spanish all around me but never really learned the language. So I have a decent base of knowledge but always struggled finding something to bridge the gap between what I know and how to become fluent. Language Transfer is perfect for that. Unlike other apps where it’s mostly memorization and building vocab, this app unpacks the language at its core and starts with the language you currently know (English) and helps you find the patterns and similarities between them. You’re literally transferring your knowledge of English to build a solid Spanish base. I’m only on lesson 10 and I’m already worlds ahead of where Duolingo and Memrise got me after a year of “lessons”. I can’t recommend this app enough. 10/10

Incredible! A Gift!

I don’t think I have ever written a review for an app but I have to preach about this app. It is such an incredible resource and a gift to us all! I have been trying to learn Spanish and I have tried other language learning apps and even a textbook, and they are helpful but this app is truly geared at helping you learn to be conversational *quickly*. I feel more confident writing and reading than I ever have and it is because of this app that I feel like I can start forming truly coherent sentences. The serotonin boost you get from memorization apps cannot compare to the serotonin boost I get from really feeling like I am *learning* with this app! Helpful lessons, app needs an update

I like the lessons so far. They are easy to understand. It’s useful on the go, but at home I’d like to play this on home speakers, but there is no option to do that.

Start with LT!

I wanted to learn Spanish for years, but I never knew where to start and could never stick with it when I did. But Language Transfer, with its easy-to-get 10 minute lessons kept me learning due to feeling like I was actually making progress and the short time commitment of its individual lessons. Now that I’ve finished the Spanish course, I feel so confident in what I’ve learned as well as my ability to keep learning. Next stop, Comprehensible Input (“Hello, Dreaming Spanish”) and then probably back to Language Transfer for a refresh!

This app will help you to understand a language with so much ease that I will shock you. I chose Spanish but it seems they have lots of good courses for all languages. The only thing that bothered me is that it seemed the student on the recordings was not as inexperienced as they say. Her pronunciation was spot on almost every time and here I was struggling at first. I'm just saying I don't think she was on my level of beginner. Other than that I absolutely love the course.

This is how I learned Spanish

I’m so grateful that I came across this app. The way that Mihalis breaks down languages into their components helps so much in understanding the inner-workings of the language you’re learning. I love how he uses what you already know about your native language to learn new vocabulary and structures in your target language. It’s brilliant, honestly. After one listen through the Spanish course and some additional practice, I easily got to an intermediate level in the language. I also learned so much about English that I’ve never thought of before. My only complaint is that there aren’t more languages available! But there are only so many languages one guy can speak, so it’s not really something I’m upset about.

And one tip: make sure that if you want to get the most out of this app that you can, follow Mihalis’ instructions and pause the audio after every question and answer it out loud. If you do that, I guarantee you’ll be extremely proficient in your new language in no time.

My new go-to, want-to-open learning app

As I have started learning Spanish, I have read reviews online of loads of apps and downloaded over half a dozen. Working with Duolingo, Spanish Dictionary, Memrise, Anki, and having tried the free trials on Pimsleur and Rocket, and watched YouTube videos for Dreaming Spanish, and followed multiple podcasts on Spotify, I eventually got round to opening this app (following a YouTube recommendation). After an initial “okay” introductory lesson (very heavy on instructions rather than instruction) I thought I’d at least give lesson 2 a try. I’m now only as far as lesson 7 and I’m totally HOOKED! This seems to be a fantastic approach to language learning and an amazing app for a lot of reasons: the method is working; it’s free (and no ads!); it’s educational; the episodes are short; the initial words taught are useful; the focus on sentence construction is very helpful; and the teacher and student are real and enjoyable to listen to. This is now going to be my must-do-every-day app. I’m genuinely really, really impressed.

The most helpful language app I have ever used!!!

I studied Spanish in school for 6 years and have forgotten a lot in the last 20+ years. I have tried several language learning programs to refresh my memory. This is by far the most effective. I feel like I am learning things I never knew before when I studied Spanish in school. The focus on deconstructing and figuring things out as opposed to just memorization is very practical. I also enjoy learning how some of our English language came from Latin and making those connections. I highly recommend this app!

This app deserves all the credit in the world. These types of lessons where you get to hear not only the correct pronunciation but someone learning it and getting corrections that can apply to you as well. Also the way he teaches is so amazing, teaching you how to find the root word in english rather than searching for the word in another language. Mindblowing breakthrough experience

In 30 minutes (4 lessons) with LT, I have learned FAR more Greek than in the past 8 months (hundreds of lessons) with every other language app combined (not to mention numerous other modes of study, including travel in Greece)—no kidding, and no exaggeration. And it’s 100% free. Instead of endless memorization exercises that leverage the dopamine reward system, LT breaks down the language into usable parts and reveals to the learner the necessary cognitive tools that we all already have for using those parts effectively and in endless ways—the feeling of liberation is incredible—for the first time in Greek, my brain and my tongue are actually working together. It is unreal. And it’s all so simple—it’s barely even an app in the usual sense… anyone who is really ready to stop dithering and just learn a language should try this immediately. And someone notify the Nobel Peace Prize folks, because the creator of LT deserves one. This is transformational. I’m excited to learn all the other languages, too—Arabic, Swahili, Turkish, awesome—all of them.

Best Language Learning App

As a Latina who had to learn Spanish as an adult, I can't recommend this app enough. It has significantly improved my Spanish fluency and comprehension, making the process of expressing myself much smoother. The app’s method of teaching really helps you problem solve what you want to say, which has been helpful for me.

Even though the app doesn’t offer Portuguese, I've been able to apply the same thought process to mentally transfer words from English to Spanish and then to Portuguese. The way it teaches you to think in another language is what makes all the difference. This app is 100% worth the time.

First lesson in French

I just started this today. I only listened to the one lesson and worked through it. I’m not sure how long it took because I was very much immersed in it I found it extremely helpful and understanding what was being said how the sentences were being formed and even pronunciation. I found myself thinking about what the question was the answer and the form of the answer before the student in the recording gave the answer. I found it very satisfying that most of the time I got the answer correctly by just slowly thinking it out as was suggested in this audio. Very satisfied.

Completely shifted my understanding of German

I have been studying german on and off for a few years now, I have taken classes, online classes, speaking classes, and I have even analyzed many of the consonant and vowel shifts myself (as I have a passive interest in language evolution).

I have never ever been able to fully conceptualize the dativ and akkusativ forms until this app. The notoriously difficult german grammar becomes easy when you follow the building blocks presented in this course.

What makes this course different is that Mihalis highlights the architecture of the language, starting from the foundation and building upon it. He has his students constructing full sentences in a foreign language in less than 30 minutes. There is no one else who works this fast or thoroughly. Bravo, Mihalis, you have helped so many people and your work deserves widespread recognition. I share this app with everyone I know who is learning a language.

Wanted to like it more

I’m Hispanic so I’m not new to Spanish but I’m far from fluent. I thought to try this app as I wanted a break from my Spanish learning workbook. My issue with this apps method is you have to think in English and then translate to Spanish. And good luck at that if you aren’t a great speller. This method works great on paper but I don’t want to think in both languages. People say memorization isn’t good but I find it works with me but my background makes it easier than most. I might continue using the app because maybe he’ll go over grammar rules in an easy to understand way but as the app is called, his focus is transferring the English language or rather translating it into Spanish. It is indeed very helpful and I’ll definitely note down these transfer rules to use later. I strongly believe grammar should be taught before vocabulary but as long and he reaches that part then this app will still be useful for me.

Must Have for ANY Non-Native Speaker of Any Language

I dismissed Language Transfer for a long long time because I was far beyond a beginner and did not want to go backwards. Don’t make the same mistake I did, there were some concepts that snapped into place that just made sense all the sudden and I no longer had to translate in my head or figure out correct conjugation, etc. I even went all the way through from lesson 1 through 90 and there was stuff in very early lessons that helped. This is so far beyond anything else, use this no matter if you are just beginning or very advanced. I even went back and did all 90 lessons again a year later. The concepts have helped me tremendously learning other languages.

¡Increíble, verdad!

I love this app so much because it’s clear the creators understand not only the language, but the process of learning a language. Helping my brain make associations with information I already know drastically increases my confidence. It takes the scaffolding your brain has already built around understanding a language and redirects it toward a new one. Brilliant. There’s even commentary in the lessons about what it might be like figuring things out when speaking the language in the wild, what to expect so that your less nervous, and tips and tricks for getting around difficult concepts in the beginning. There are rules that always tripped me up before, and I’m finally beginning to understand them. Incredible! Cannot believe it’s free & hope it stays that way

I have literally never written an online review in my life but I have been moved to for the first time thanks to this app! The way the learning process is laid out (I’ve used French, Spanish, & Arabic) is so intuitive and dynamic. Really really helpful for laying a grammatical foundation, and sprinkled with great tips and encouragement that seem to predict many questions a listener may have along the way. It’s amazing to me that this is free and, even better, ad- and subscription-free (please keep it that way!) I will definitely be donating to support the development of more languages. Definitely encourage beginning language learners to give the lessons a try and consider doing the same.

The Missing Piece

I took a few years of Spanish in high school but never took it seriously until recently. Despite trying multiple language learning apps, I felt like my progress was painfully slow—until I discovered this app. Within just the first 7 lessons, I felt like I found the missing piece of the puzzle. Language Transfer doesn’t bombard you with grammar rules and vocabulary to memorize. Instead, it teaches you to understand the language by leveraging what you already know from English! Traditional methods felt like trying to assemble a cake from many small slices. With Language Transfer, it feels like I've been given the recipe to make the whole cake! I cant recommend trying this app enough. The lessons are short, engaging, laid back, but HIGHLY effective.

Absolutely Brilliant

There are a lot of language apps out there. This one won’t teach you all of it, of course, but the way Mihalis explains the language, the way he allows you to understand the meaning behind it is both effortless and beautiful. I’ve since read his book, and I’ve completely fallen in love. I’ve gone through the German and Italian lessons and a bit through French. I’ve not tried the rest of them, but his dedication to teaching seems consistent and passionate from what I’ve seen. Anyway, I highly recommend this, more than anything else.

P.S. I’m absolutely thrilled to see what the music theory lessons are all about :)

This is how language should be taught!

I studied Spanish formally for 7 years, and this program helped me understand in only a few lessons intuitions that took me years with traditional study. And even while going over material I already knew, I still learned new aspect about how the language works! To anyone who is starting out, I think this is by far the best place to start with your language journey as they tackle important, relevant concepts first, and they pace the lessons in such a way that you get steady, encouraging improvement. Also hearing someone else make mistakes and figure it out alongside you is so helpful to analyzing your own thought processes. I’m now using this to try out Arabic. Truly an incredible resource, and the fact it’s free makes it even better!

More progress in a few hours than 3 years of Duolingo!

I’m a little sad to say this but also excited. I’ve logged over 1100 CONSECUTIVE days in Duolingo and I feel like I’ve really stalled in my learning. A lot of that could be due to the awful changes that Duolingo made. But I randomly found this today and spent a little time in the Spanish section. I seriously feel like I made more progress in about 90 minutes of listening to this than I did in the 3+ years of my Duolingo streak! And there are a lot of other things in it too. I feel like it could have been equally good as a podcast but the app works well too. I’m excited to try some of the other topics as well. It’s great stuff, thanks for making this and keep it coming!

Loved it

The Spanish course is really incredible. It immediately gives you the most important tools you’ll need to express yourself in the basic current, future, and past tense. So many other learning resources spend AGES on things like ser, estar, and tener before even beginning to introduce non-present tenses. That’s great, but it’s impossible to communicate without being able to talk about time, intention, and history.

The course similarly focuses on teaching aspects of the language that allow English speakers to use their knowledge of the English language to jumpstart their knowledge of Spanish. This course has been a hugely impactful piece of my learning resources. I’m very grateful for it

Truly a hidden GEM for language learning

I wish more people knew about this app. I’ve used many language learning apps/software over the years – this one is by far the best one. Not only is the teaching style incredibly effective, but the app is also completely free!! There aren't even any ads you have to watch, unlike with the free version of Duolingo.

I’ve done the entire Spanish course on Rosetta Stone, and while it was somewhat helpful in teaching general vocab and grammar, Language Transfer has unlocked the ability for me to actually SPEAK and think in the language much more comfortably. The way it teaches all the different conjugations for verbs is incredible and makes them easy to remember.

Wow. Just wow.

I have taken 5 years of Spanish and I have never felt this confident in my ability to build a sentence. No teacher has gone over (or perhaps even knows) the things that you have taught and I am greatly benefiting from it. I am going into advanced placement Spanish next year and I cannot wait to apply the things I have learned.

Last summer I used Duolingo and Duolingo only, and yes that partly helped with structure, but it was mostly vocabulary. I wanted to know why the language was formed the way it was, my teachers did not give me context and Duolingo definitely didn’t either. I loved hearing about the history and the literal translations.

Great app! Thank you so much!

I’ve taken 4 semesters of Spanish in college, used various apps, books, and so forth and this app is by far the best language instruction tool I’ve ever used. It’s best if you have a little basic background in Spanish so you can dive right in. The instructor gives you tons of tips and tricks to learn the language. He goes back to review so you can refresh your memory. The style is building up and not about memorizing. It’s all audio so I just put it on when I’m driving in my car and follow along.

Only feedback I have would be that I wish there was a button to restart the lessons, as the progress bar is a bit difficult to manipulate, especially if I’m in the car.

Made everything click

I’m very new to it, but I’m trying to learn Turkish. I tried other language apps and resources but it frustrated me how they would jump straight into memorizing words and sentences without explaining how the language works, and to someone used to english and spanish grammar, it was very difficult to understand what was going on. I just found this app and I’m on the first few lessons and Turkish is already feeling a lot less scary to learn, I am actually starting to understand how it works. This app is way better than the no-explanation memorization based apps as it is taking me slowly through understanding the nature of the language. Thank you for making this app free, I would otherwise have no simple way of learning Turkish. It is not the only tool you should use, but the approach of this app is tremendously helpful.

You made my time in Costa Rica unforgettable.

Thanks to Mihalis (the creator of this app, and the sole teacher and only person behind all of this), I was able to go down to Costa Rica with an old friend and essentially hold conversations about the weather, the police, the locations, travel, time, and food!

I had tried so many other apps like Memrise, Babbel, DuoLingo, Drops, etc., but the sheer fact that I could step into a lesson and see the intricacies of language (particularly Spanish), such as the Latin origins, typical conjugations, irregular conjugations repeating themselves in other verbs (making them not-so-irregular), and explaining how the Spanish sentence structure works has been an incredibly seamless experience that I strongly doubt and have never experienced before. Someday when I’m in a better spot, I can’t wait to support this project!

Most Effective Language App

I listened to the intro to italian lessons while living in venice for 3 months and recognized and understood the structure of the language extremely quickly compared to other apps i’ve tried using. The order of lessons makes the language useable in such a short period of time compared to other apps that give you useless vocab and no way to use it. Like after 1 hour of listening I could already form some sentences. Incredible lesson structure, every language teacher should takes notes. I’m obsessed. I recommend this app to people all the time.

I’m very impressed with this app! and the fact that the person or people who created it made it available and free to all! How amazing is that!? After just a few lessons I learned so much (currently learning Italian) that I decided to become a patron to donate to this wonderful service, and In my opinion we all should, if we are able to. Truly the best language-learning app i’ve ever used

I never, eeeever write reviews of apps, if i’m honest- but i am so absolutely grateful to have come across this project and felt like i had to say something in promotion of it.

I’ve taken spanish for the past six years, most of which were in classes in under-funded and overlooked public school language programs, which ignited a hunger in me for engaging language classes, while also leaving me feeling as though i had very little direction for how to find that and little clarity as to what that looked like.

Over the past few weeks, i’ve realized that THIS program, is what that looks like. The spanish that had been swept under an old rug in a forgotten corner of my brain has been illuminated by the wonderful lessons available in this app. Not only am i able to recall old lessons I thought had been lost on me, I’m also finding that what language transfer does that’s absolutely invaluable is create an incredible flow between one’s intuition and the information provided.

Unfortunately I’m still not very eloquent in english so everything i thought i was saying in this review is pretty mushy and garbled, but nonetheless if any prospective language-students are thinking of downloading this app, give it a try!!!! you’ll never revisit duolingo again

Genius

This is the most innovative way to learn a language I've ever encountered. And it works brilliantly! I've been studying Spanish for about 18 months, and I've learned a lot, but there were definitely some concepts that I struggled with... until now (MORE below). The app itself is as bare-bones as can be, but the learning experience is unmatched. This guy deserves not only my 5 stars, but like a Nobel in language or something. I'm def gonna donate -- but you don't have to. Unbelievably, this is totally free! ====================================MORE: The program I already completed was very traditional. There are 150 hour-long lessons. You listen to a dialogue, then get an explanation, then do lots of exercises. It's very thorough, but I end up feeling like I have to search my brain to remember things, and I lose confidence quickly. The Language Transfer method, by contrast, takes what I already know from English and gives me simple rules so I can quickly and easily *build* what I need when I need it. I also appreciate that there isn't a ton of vocabulary to memorize -- I can look something up when I need it. I probably wouldn't make this my *only* language-learning app, but I'd definitely recommend it as the best possible starting point.

I’ve been using Duolingo intensely for around 9 months, and I’m currently taking a Spanish course in school, and yet somehow this app seemingly makes all that seem like tedious work. It’s so fun, relaxing, and engaging, truly. You just listen to a man giving a woman a lesson, and pause when he asks questions (as if he was asking you) then you can compare your answers. The best part is the teacher. He has such deep knowledge of languages and his way of explaining is so concise yet still deliberate. An honestly outstanding app that I would recommend even to Intermediate speakers. ¡Esta aplicación es muy divertida y útil!

Truly an amazing learning experience

I have always wanted to learn French, my family is half french and a few of my family members speak it. But the hard part has been finding a good way to really understand and gain a foothold in the language. What I love about LanguageTransfer is that it doesn’t just teach you vocabulary, but explains it and explains how to properly use that vocabulary rather than trying to glue stuff together and sounding like an idiot (figured that out from experience). I also really love how it teaches you to look for patterns and behaviors in the language to make it easier to recognize and apply certain aspects of speech. This app has really given me a good foothold in French and I 100% plan to keep moving forward with the language. In just a few hours of audio lessons I have already learned more than my friend has in two years of high school French. I think that says something. TLDR; Great app, learned a lot, have a real good understanding of how the language actually works and not just vocabulary

The best

This is better quality instruction than you’d get from almost any paid course or app, and it’s all for free (with no premium version). This guy really encourages a deep understanding of language from the outset, to the point where even the first lessons for my second language which I speak decently well have been valuable and enlightening. It is very dense and probably works best taken one lesson at a time followed by plenty of thinking and digesting (it’s certainly not as passive as something like duolingo), so be ready for that. But if you enjoy intensive style learning or have an interest in linguistics I can’t recommend this highly enough.

Amazing, it has an awesome way of teaching, but one con.

I was extremely surprised with this app. At first it may not look too much since it only has audio lessons and it’s free seeming like it may not work well, but it does!! So what this app does is that instead of teaching you basics (Take Spanish for example) like Hola, Cómo estás?? No, they teach you how concert words from English to Spanish and use those words in a sentence. This app does discourage memorization and note taking, so they don’t recommend you take notes and memorize anything. However, the only complete course in this app is Spanish and the rest of language courses are not finished and there are not enough languages. They only have Spanish, German, Arabic, Turkish, Greek, Italian, French, Swahili and English for Spanish speakers. If none of those are your target language, then i’m really sorry. I am gonna tell you that this app by itself will NOT make you fluent. This is a great combination with other resources so that you will help become fluent. This app only relies on donations to make money so if you enjoy your experience and have some spare money on you, then I recommend you donate!

Amazing

This is legitimately the best way I have found to learn (or start learning that is) a language, hands down. The courses are relatively easy to follow and introduce the listener to a language in newer and much more natural and intuitive ways (way Mihalis describes in detail in his book). Having studied dozens of languages using dozens of apps and courses, I’ve found I remember far more material and can reproduce a language with far greater ease with LT than I have with any other program.

I couldn’t recommend this more highly to anyone interested in learning a new language, it has been a life-changing educational experience and I could never begin thank Mihalis enough for all of his hard work and dedication to such an amazing project.

Amazing app, just wanted to mention one issue

I don’t usually write reviews, I love this app a lot I just wanted to make sure that the person making it knows that (at least for me) when a lesson finishes, it’ll automatically go to the next one but keep the name of the last one (for example, Spanish Lesson 6 ends and it’ll play the audio for Lesson 7 but still say 6 which got a little confusing before I got used to just going back out and in to switch lesson) also, adjusting the time on the bottom of the lesson is sort of hard to do, takes several tries (like 7) for me to actually be able to move it. Also, a transcript showing what is being said sentence by sentence would be useful, especially for the spelling of some of the words.

Best language learning app I have ever used

I have been learning Spanish for over 8 years in the American public school system and through other apps like Duolingo. These lessons are by far more beneficial and applicable for the amount of time required than a formal education or Duolingo. I have learned so many corrections to make from when my teachers in high school taught me the wrong thing. He also explains WHY things are, not just WHAT they are which makes remembering much easier. It all just flows together in your head rather than memorizing separate charts and phrases. I can not recommend this app enough. The only learning experience that I have had better than this app was living in Spain for a period of time. Nothing else is even comparable.

Fast results!!

I picked the Spanish course since I will be traveling to the Dominican Republic soon. By lesson six of this course I already felt comfortable speaking many, many Spanish words and during lesson six I was able to translate a fairly long sentence from English to Spanish all on my own. I haven’t been able to try out any of the other languages yet, but my friend tells me the Swahili course is very well written too.

The lessons are available online without the app, but I like having the app because you can download the lessons if you want and you can mark them complete as you do them. (Sometimes it will mark them complete for you but not always.)

The main speaker, which is the developer of the app, speaks in British English, so if a few of his words are slightly different than the American pronunciation that is why. That is not a problem for me though. I actually like the fact that I have learned some British pronunciation by taking the Spanish course on this app.

The app and all of its contents really are free. There are no hidden chargers or advertisements. The developer said upfront that he does not want to make people pay for his lessons but that he would welcome donations if we want to just contribute to his ability to make this method even better by adding more languages to it.

So there really is nothing to dislike about this app or the courses that it teaches. It really is the best method I have found for learning a language.

Finally an app that works!!

I’ve been studying Spanish for seven months with eight other apps averaging 6 hours a day of studying. Then 8 weeks ago I discovered LT and suddenly all the learning from the other apps just snapped into place with what LT teaches. It’s like the missing piece of the puzzle that I needed. The key to the locked box. I listen to a lesson each day and I do take notes (even though we are instructed not to) When the fabulous teacher says a sentence to translate and that sentence has 20 words in it, I always think how in the world can I translate that—but it is such a miracle with his guidance and instructions at just how everything is clear and I can see light at the end of the tunnel and it all comes together and after a few seconds, I’m translating a 20 word sentence. I’m still doing all my other apps but at the end of the day when I do my LT lesson, it’s like coming home to a long drink of knowledge. I’m on lesson 53 out of 90 and I’ve progressed so rapidly with the 53 lessons that I have very high expectations of where I’ll be at lesson 90. Get the app—-and sit back and marvel at what you’ve been missing—the missing piece to the puzzle!! And I want to know who the Spanish student was that he teaches in the course. What is her name and where is she from? She is so amazing and brilliant and I love her accent. The two together deserve an award.

Finally Understand French! Fantastic Spanish, Too!

I rarely write reviews, but more people need to know about this extraordinary app and method. I took French in school, tried all the freemium and paid apps, watched movies and tv shows, but the language never clicked for me until now. I can't stop telling everyone about how amazing this is. I want to speak day-to-day French, not get caught up in esoteric grammar that no one actually uses.

I'm trying to brush up on my Spanish too, but using memorization was causing me to freak out and mix up my languages. Now, I can practice French and Spanish with ease. Revolutionary.

I’m barley on lesson 40/90 for the Spanish course and I’ve learned soooo much. I can’t imagine how much I’ll know after I finish. The best part is that this app is completely FREE. This isn’t an app that markets itself as “free”and then makes you pay for a “premium” version. There aren’t many languages on the app though because this app is made by only one guy, not an entire team. Also, some languages have more content than others. For example, the Spanish course has 90 lessons but the French course only has 40. With that said, if your language is available, you’ll learn so much.

Mind blowing language app!

I’ve used different language apps for a few years, just casually learning Spanish. The repetition and memorization would burn me out and make me frustrated that I wasn’t getting it as quickly as I felt I should. One minute into the first LT lesson, I felt like I had learned more than I did in years on my own. I had already recognized that certain words looked very similar to those in English, but this app explained WHY they do, and how to apply it to words I haven’t learned yet. LT gives you the “why” of the language, and really helps your brain make connections between your target language and English, rather than cramming vocabulary to memorize into your head. It’s helped me so much already, and reinvigorated my desire to become fluent in another language.

Unique language learning - uses thinking, not just memorizing

I grew up with some Spanish in the home, but primarily spoke English. I firmly believe that even someone that does not know a word of Spanish can use this program to go from an inability to speak to speaking moderately advanced sentences and phrases. The method builds on what you already know in English to help you learn other languages, “transferring” your knowledge from one language to the other so you don’t have to start from scratch memorizing word by word like other programs do. This idea to me is, quite frankly, revolutionary. On lesson 9/90 in Spanish, I’m looking forward to continuing forward and looking at the other languages in the program (Arabic, Turkish, German, Swahili, French, Italian). There is also a course to learn English from Spanish as well. Although there may be small adjustments that could be made to the app, the value of the program far outweighs this. I’ve already recommended this to many of my friends. To the developer, keep up the great work!

A Beautiful method for learning a language

In my opinion, which is backed up by a lot of fact, the natural method for learning a language is the best way of learning a language. I have not used this app for a long time but it already seems like the best app for learning a language. Kind of like an audio version of lingua latina per se illustrata if you know that great book. I would suggest finding a natural method book and using that to learn reading and writing in your target language and use this app to learn listening and speaking. I am for instance using l’italiano secondo il metedo natural as my natural method book (all italian) and using this for my audio course as well as films, music etc. make sure to include media in your target language. After I am done with the Italian course I plan to donate to this apps developer. I know they have a patreon, but I don’t know if you can donate one time with that. If the developer reads this I would prefer a way to donate say $10 or $20 one time rather than doing a $1 a month patreon subscription. Makes it easier ig, but patreon is fine.

The absolute best language comprehension app

The way they teach you how to think about language in their courses is completely different than anything I have experienced. They make a point to tell you not to focus on memorizing words and instead to focus on building your new languages off of the roots of your native one. It is the most efficient solution I have found for improving my Spanish and I don’t have to memorize every word. I can take my knowledge of Latin as a native English speaker and convert a Latin word to Spanish to finish a sentence and in most scenarios be correct. If you are learning a language any other way you are wasting your time.

Best Language Learning App I have ever used!!

I have used dozens of apps while learning languages, and NONE of them have given me such a deep understanding of a language. I don’t usually write reviews but i’m honestly shocked by 1. how good this app is and 2. that it was free. I was expecting in-app purchases to sneak up on me, or for it to have things locked... but no. It’s all completely free. The way it teaches aims to give you a deep understanding of how the language works, and how to think in that language. I have taken Spanish for 6 years in school, and I can confidently and 100% say that after listening to this lesson my Spanish improved more than over any whole YEAR of taking Spanish classes. I am in advanced classes in Spanish, and this app helped me understand Spanish better and more in depth then any of my teachers. I have such a better and clearer understanding my Spanish now, and the methods used helped me understand how to learn other languages better in the future. I’m so grateful that I found this app, it has made such a difference in my speaking and comprehension skills.

Amazing and practical teaching style!

I never write reviews for apps but I am 2/3 of my way through Complete Spanish and Mihalis is just a wonderful teacher. The lessons make you think about the formation of these sentences and your teaching continues to be reinforced through sentence building.

There is a great sense of friendliness and patience with Mihalis’ style and it is so accessible. I hated learning Spanish in high school but after going to college and immersing myself in the culture though friends and being with someone from Latin America, I wanted to learn. After graduating college, I tried to find the resources that would get me speaking quickly and stumbled upon these lessons on a Reddit post.

Now I’m able to go on walks and just play the lessons and really learn. I see that on my day-to-day, I’m starting to think in Spanish and apply a lot of my lessons, both culturally and linguistically to my daily life. It’s so incredible and this is one thing that has my full support.

If you like this, please spread the word and donate. I only say this because it truly is an incredible resource that is actually free! There’s nothing more beautiful than sharing cultures and languages in my eyes as it brings the world closer together. Truly revolutionary!!

I have very weak Arabic (Egyptian dialect) to start as my parents are Arabic speakers but I did not fully learn or become fluent. I was skeptical that this free app and system would finally be how I learned to engage in Arabic meaningfully with my family and friends, after many years of trying on my own and with other apps/software.

THIS WORKS. It takes such a unique and extremely natural approach - it takes advantage of the patterns and generalizable characteristics of the language to help you truly understand and apply the lessons to many words, so that you learn instead of memorize. I am finally understanding how to naturally construct sentences without guessing (well, there’s a tiny bit of guessing, but it’s informed now!) and he’s teaching me patterns I’ve known for years but never actually recognized!! It doesn’t feel frustrating or confusing because the pace is natural and the approach is comfortable. The host has an excellent voice and personality for podcast recordings, seems friendly and just wants you to be successful.

I’ve tried all kinds of spanish learning and this is by far the best course I have ever been through. It was extremely well thought out and taught refreshingly easy to comprehend. Not only will you complete it knowing so much more vocabulary, but you will have such a great understanding of structure as well. My confidence to try and speak it has skyrocketed and with the techniques taught in the course my spanish learning has sped up exponentially. Thank you LT for these courses and your contribution to helping people learn new languages.

I can’t believe this is not more popular

Truly a master piece, makes me love french! I have one issue though, I am trying to do the 5th lesson of french but it keeps playing lesson three. I will update if the bug is fixed :)

edit: The bug was fixed after deleting and reinstalling the app, however, after one day the bug has returnneed. The only lesson it will play is lesson 6 no matter what number i click on. I am sure it can be fixed if i use my successful method from before, but if you are able to look into this and fix this issue it will be awesome. But a simple bug for an amazing app is...

Extremely Well Thought Out Language Learning Course

I have been using the Spanish module for the past month. I grew up learning a little Spanish (I am Hispanic), although I never reached a point that is anywhere near fluency. This course has helped me make connections to some of the “rules” I already knew implicitly, and has provided an extremely intuitive framework for approaching conversations in Spanish. The methods that have been designed/proposed by Mihalis (the creator) are incredibly easy to follow and give you the opportunity to easily practice the language outside of the allotted time of the videos.

Ps: If you end up using the course and liking the app, you should consider supporting Mihalis on Patreon with donations! He has pretty much been a one man show and has managed to put out really high quality content, so I can only imagine what he could do with more support!
