I’m giving a one star because:
I got this app to practice my handwriting… but once you choose what you wanna learn (for example I chose Neat writing” but I could only practice 2 lessons out of the alphabet, then it made you pay to do the rest. I think this is unfair since there needs to be at least 2 free ones you can do without paying.

Too sensitive for training and teaching
Even on the largest of iPads, the owes, and some other letters are way too sensitive. Leaving correctly, drawn letters marked as error or needing to be rewritten over and over again in order to pass the test. There needs to be a way to adjust a sensitivity. Otherwise there’s no way to gradually train or gradually improve someone’s penmanship. They can’t just be one or zero there needs to be a leniency or an adjustable. But what do I know? I’ve only been designing products for 30 years.

The leftie mode is not showing anywhere in the app. I wasted so much time on it, on youtube tutorials and is not showing all the options it shows in the tutorial so my kid is stuck while his brothers are enjoying the app.

Very good for Learning to write on tablet
I bought this app to practice writing on my tablet. I am starting to keep a handwritten journal on my tablet as I travel. I am afraid that after learning to type and after 20 years of schooling my handwriting has become quite illegible. Trying to write on a screen was even worse. I am only part way thought the basic Cursive lessons, but I am quite pleased. I realize now that my bad handwriting has mainly to do with unused muscles in my hand. I am practicing my handwriting with this app everyday and see a marked improvement. I am a little old lady, and I don’t want to have the chicken scratch handwriting, which I equate with being a little old lady. I particularly like the feature of adding your own text to practice. I put in several phrases, which I have trouble with, in my second language. As I trace out the letters and words, I am memorizing the phrases and where to put the accent marks. I would recommend this app for anyone looking learn cursive writing or anyone trying to improve their handwriting.

A lot better than others I’ve tried but two super annoying things after my first usage. Please allow me to make the fonts smaller. It allows me to trace as extra extra large or large. I’m on 13” iPad so I’m not sure if that’s contributing to the problem but so annoyed that I can’t practice with smaller font. I already know cursive and it is still not obvious which letter I’m tracing. Please tell me which letter is… doing 12 reps of an unknown letter isn’t as useful.

as a person that knows a lot of cursive, everytime I nailed it correctly, it gives me an "OK" like what the hell is that supposed to mean? i have skill but it won't let me use it in the app?! and i know this doesn't sound fair since this app is to TEACH people on how to write cursive, but as an apple pencil user, i find it even hard to write with THAT. and i can imagine how hard it is for hand users.. and you might be thinking: " why?" well because hand users don't work as efficiently as an apple pencil, providing a better grip.. but over all that stuff, HORRIBLE, UNFAIR app. do NOT download unless you like getting space taken up on your device.

Not good for calligraphy
This is not a good way to learn calligraphy. It doesn’t start with the foundational strokes, completely leaves out the importance of the pressure, and never mentions the most basic rule of your upstrokes being thin and downstrokes being thick. I’m giving it two stars because I liked the idea!

Promising but lacking…
I was originally looking for a way to journal using the Apple Pencil in a true journal app when I came across this app. I decided to try it out because my handwriting is a bit horrid! Anyway, I’m glad you can kick the tires for free to an extent. The only issues I have, and it’s a bit confusing, is that the app presents the writing as courses. Yet, within a course that you choose, there seems to be different fonts. For instance, in the cursive section - there’s simple cursive, cursive and then cursive pro. All of these seem to indicate a progression BUT all of the fonts are different. So if you practice simple cursive for a period of time and train your muscle memory, then go to the cursive - the fonts don’t seem the same…so on and so forth. This would be more organic if the app had so selections of fonts (which is a whole other thing because you can only write in the couple they designate), then all that you write whether neat, simple or pro would follow the same font styling and helping your muscle memory to develop. A word about the languages. I am intermediate Spanish speaker, it would be nice if I could pick a font and practice writing in any language. Lastly, it would also be nice if you could select more script languages. I’m learning Hebrew and Greek (survey this language right now) - I’d love to use this app for that as well. Hate to be critical because this seems like a good app and I would certainly pay for it! But as is, I would probably only use it to a degree as opposed to what it could be so a user like me could get so much more out of it.

Was expecting more for the app
I really was expecting a lot more with the app. I think if you had a child wanting to practice their handwriting maybe but wanting to work on different kinds of calligraphy I think that this is very much lacking. I did a 20% off annual subscription and I will use it, but I will not be renewing because I’ll probably go through all the exercises for all the types of handwriting that they have probably only in a couple weeks.

First of all, I don’t write reviews, but I’ve come to enjoy this app quite a lot; however that’s not the reason I’m writing this review with 5 stars.
I’ve been into calligraphy for a long time and this app certainly scratches that itch , but what made me write this review is the fact that I reached out to them asking for a certain font , and a month or so, it was adde in all its glory.

Not enough languages
I downloaded this app to practice my handwriting in Korean, but upon downloading, I quickly realized that this app does not include Korean (Hangul). I am very displeased with this app because I thought I finally found an app that I could practice writing Korean with my iPad and Apple Pencil, but I guess I misunderstood when the description said many languages? Please add Hangul! That is a very important language!

At 70 years old, I have started using an iPad as a planner and journal. I’ve never been happy with my handwriting style or preciseness. So, I downloaded Writey and have been using it every day for six weeks. I now have a brand new handwriting that I admire, and I am enjoying using apps like Goodnotes on the iPad.

Excellent Handwriting Practice
I do graphic recording which requires a lot of quick handwriting in a variety of styles. I was looking for a way to practice some clear and neat handwriting and polish up my cursive skills. I was skeptical of signing up for another subscription, but it is updated frequently with new handwriting styles and one of the latest cursive templates has pressure sensitivity so I can work on my letter forms and the weight of the lines.

It’s good but missing more practice words
the app is really good, I like it but I wished it had more practice words or that you could import into it a list of word from a csv file or text file. If feel like the practice words just run out too soon. I would not pay the subscription again if it didn’t have this feature. Won’t renew unless it adds more practice words, with different levels of complexity.

Fixing hand writing
I am a 16 year old and I have really bad hand writing.
Upon getting a new iPad I was determined to fix my bad hand writing, Thus I found Writey. I was kinda skeptical about it with the subscription and all, but after doing the free trial, I learned that it is much better than I anticipated. This app allows you to fix your handwriting at your own pace and it will tell you exactly how you should be writing well cute little animation, I have a really enjoyed learning cursive and learning how to fix my handwriting to 10/10!!

This is a great app with many features but please, why is everything subscription based. If you just scattered ads all over the app and had a subscription to remove ads that would be great, i use this app to improve my handwriting but don't think its worth 4 dollars a month. Please change this!

Don’t bother trying this app
Despite having so many features, you aren’t able to use the majority of them without paying for it.
You only get 5 individual symbols (3 aren’t even letters) to practice, a single 2 letter word, and a list of 5 short words. The purple guide that shows the stroke of the letter gets really annoying very quick as it happens every time you mess up a letter and you aren’t able to write when its there- as well as the animation that happens as it deletes an incorrect letter is generally visually annoying. There’s no way to turn these off either. The writing is super strict while also having no stabilizing for the pen so its hard to control.

Very Accurate App For Caligraphy
I've just started using it to practice English calligraphy and am thoroughly enjoying the experience! I had struggled to learn calligraphy for a while, mainly due to difficulty finding a teacher with a schedule that suited mine. Very decent and just what I was looking for and more!
I have to say this is a very decent app, it had exactly what I was looking for, English print practice writing, where many of the others just do cursive writing this does both which is nice, the shapes and lines are fun and interesting but the circles are super hard to get right, they don’t even need to be perfect circles which is nice but you still have to get it in a certain way or it doesn’t count, I almost gave up on it XD maybe that can be adjusted to make it a bit easier? Love all the free stuff to do that’s available, it really lets you get a fee for the app and figuring out if it’s one you would want to pay the subscription for and I for one think I will when I am able don’t know when that will be but yes, I like this app and I recommend others who want to better there penmanship skills to try this out, you have nothing to lose and possibly a lot to gain with this app!!

I bought the month option and it charged me but it didn’t let me have any of the premium options, developer if you are reading this, I love the app, I just wished the premium option worked

App asked for a review within first few minutes so I will comply.... it's been fine so far? A subscription is immediately required if you'd like to do anything, with a free trial available only on their $25/year plan and only three days of a trial. I'm not sure it justifies the $3/month ($2 on yearly) with what I've seen so far, but it's certainly not egregiously overpriced.

There is a problem with this system why do you make us have to pay for it and why do we have to do baby steps I mean sometimes people know how to do it the reason why they download it is because they want to challenge themselves but they can’t on this game so you better be glad that I give this game 4 ⭐️ I could have gave I 1 I am so mad that I can spit and I am only 12 DO BETTER

Good but not for left- handed people
I'm left-handed and need to learn to have neater handwriting but when I try to write with my pen, it stops writing randomly in the middle of the letter. Then when I try to write it again comfortably like with my arm on my I pad and it just stops out of nowhere. Don't recommend it if u have a problem with not being able to be comfortable when writing and if ur left handed.

Very messy writer
Me not being able to write in cursive or read cursive I’m able to do all that now! I used to be a very messy and clumsy writer this helped like a lot my a's looked like u's but now they don’t so I a think you should don download Writey but you don’t have to if you don’t want to

This app isn’t worth the small monthly charge
I’m trying to improve my handwriting on the iPad and just in general and got this app and paid the ongoing monthly fee for a very sub par app.
The interface for tracing in flawed. The sheets with words on them are just free write when those sheets if anything should be guided and have prompts not just individual letters.
I canceled my subscription. I feel like all these apps in this vein on the App Store are very flawed and overpriced. But I’ll keep looking regardless.

This is what the world needs~
Once upon a time, the poor were denied the ability to read and write. The industrial revolution created a need for the common folk to read directions and the genie was out of the bottle. To many a parents chagrin, the idea of computers has given schools the ability to remove handwriting and this has saddened me deeply. Thank for this wonderful app and appreciation for sharing the art of language.

Left handed orientation gone
I’m newly left-handed because my right hand now suffers from carpal tunnel and I need surgery.
I was using this app to train my left hand, having the option to accommodate my hand placement was great but I no longer see it.
I can zoom out and it gives me space for my right hand but not my left.
Unrelated but I also think this app should be a flat rate price. Subscriptions are already a lot to consider and an app such as this shouldn’t be a subscription based. I don’t think the content should be flat out free, as they do put out new content for multiple languages but considering what it is and how frequently one would use it, just doesn’t add up.

Won’t let me write, drags the screen when trying I’m using an IPad, and I write with my fingers. The thing I tried to practice was cursive - didn’t work, dragged the screen, I tried another to practice and same issue. I’ve also noted that this opens up a pencil menu seen when editing a screenshot. I hope this any of the above info can be of use, since I only tried the app for a few minutes. Thanks!

Good but could have more variety of words to practice
I am loving the app so far, but I just think there could be more words to practice especially in cursive. I have trouble transitioning from letter to letter. Even if there are only a few each day but there was a new set of words each day that would be better than the same ones day in and day out. I also am excited to see the Spanish version that is coming soon!

Great Program / 1 suggestion to make perfect
I love this program and paid for the recommended subscription. I do wish it had an area to add words or sentences of your own such as a spelling list, days of the week and month or even name, address, phone number, etc… without saving info inputted into the program. All in all a great program.

Excellent!
I have terrible handwriting, absolutely awful. My hands are very weak and I was just not we’ll tough. Didn’t practice enough probably! Anyways, I’ve been wanting to improve my penmanship but hadn't found any books that didn’t have childishly large activities to do. This is great! Several font types, shape excel sizes, different languages and characters! You can zoom in and out which is how I adjust my font size. Love this!!

Just a great app overall
I’m trying to learn how to write in cursive and this is the perfect app it is affordable for most and helps you practice using a pencil like object (i guess?) Apple Pencil if you have one. Anyways this is just a great app overall

Wonderful!
I can highly recommend this app. It’s really helpful and easy to use. I do use my ipad to take notes and it really helps me to write better. Plus I am learning how to write cursive and each letter has arrows so you know how to correctly write a letter. So don’t hesitate buy this app and enjoy writing.

I'm saving paper here!!
I'm left handed, and I wanted to learn how to write with my right hand. With previous practice, I wanted something accessible to write on, one that had guidelines for the letters, and something that would be easy to do again after finishing one set of letters, or page. Now with this, I've got everything that I need in this app. 100% worth the buy.

How I feel about this cursive writing app
It is suitable and helps me write better not only print letter and number writing but also cursive letters and numbers this app has been very helpful for me for this past year use. I recommend other parents use this for their children to help them get a little bit more of higher education than in school. This app is very useful you should download immediately, thank you!

OK DONT GET ME WRONG BUT THIS APP IS LITERALLY AMAZING but i think u should make it a bit cheaper or even free because there are only a few fonts and it’s basically the app notes but with a template underneath. But if you want to practice handwriting and don’t want to spend money on procreate THIS is the way to go, this app is amazing for practicing like i said i would lower the price a bit.

It works really well. My 11 year old daughter had really sloppy cursive and most other writing apps didn't work for her either because they costed to much and didn’t work well or were free and just weren’t good. When I got this I was skeptical at first but it really works well for her.

Good idea, and they added a reset button!
This is a fairly nicely designed app, but it HAD a few key problems. The main one is that there WAS no automatic reset button if you want to go through and do the writing exercises again and again and again BUT THEY FIXED IT! This a great developer who listens to feedback!
I got it for my high school son who has had the sloppiest handwriting. It has truly helped him.
