You’ll have quick and easy access to facility information including the facility address, operating hours, and contact information. The best part is you’ll never have to worry about forgetting your gate code again because we’ve put it on the home page of the app for easy and convenient access!
You can now also access My Account through the Extra Space app. With My Account, you can manage payments by making single payments when your bill is due or setting up Easy Pay, and you’ll have the ability to update your account information.
At participating facilities, the app also makes accessing your storage unit and storage facility as easy as the push of a button. Download the app today to experience Digital Access at Extra Space Storage. Not sure your facility offers Digital Access? Feel free to check on the website or call your store manager.

Awful App!

This app is almost entirely useless. I say almost because it has account information in it that is useful but they want you to use it to access your gate the front door, the elevator, and something else that I have no idea. However, the digital access is a joke! I’m directly in front of the gate, and it says I am out of range. I go to the front door and it will only give me the elevator digital access. But then when I’m in front of the elevator there’s no access 90% of the time. It’s very frustrating!

Worst app ever

This was a nightmare to try to get into a Bluetooth unit when we arrived at the storage unit with five movers and two trucks. I would never recommend extra space storage.

Every since I’ve been a customer I’ve repeatedly had trouble with the W Charleston storage someone broke into my storage inside job and I’ve been waiting for a call never recieved now I can’t get into my app telling me to reinstall to no avail it’s always something they have drug users managing this one and it’s awful

No payment options

After spending a half hour and two calls to customer service, plus multiple attempts to establish an online account, I discovered that I can’t change the credit card in the app. Your customer service also can’t do that over the phone. One of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had online in a long time.

Slow app

This app is terrible. It constantly runs slow and takes forever to process my payments. I’ve also tried to sign up for automatic payments multiple times through the app and it never saves. Plus when you get to the storage unit, none of the buttons are ever “in range” for the doors.

All I can say is if you go with them,good luck because you will lose money and be lied to just so they can charge you hundreds of dollars more from you and then put your life belongings in auction.Don’t call customer service because they aren’t trained correctly in order to help you make sure your account is paid to date,then when you find out you owe more money it’s all your fault and not customer support so they will throw another $220 at your bill.The high light of the tragic story is they gave me until the 10th of this month til noon to pay and when you call nobody answered so I kept calling over and over, and then they told me it was until the 9th and I had to threaten to have my attorney call them before they finally said I was correct it was the 10th. They talked trash about me to my husband and trash about my husband to me with such disrespect. So like I said good luck if you choose them if I had my way I would get in touch with the BBB about how things are ran.

Great OPTIONS

I’m so GLAD I went Extra Storage in Voorhees 🎉. Morgan was great in figuring out my storage needs. She showed me what I was asking for & then she showed me a MUCH better option & it was cheaper & larger💰💵
With her help & Matt’s input I was so relieved about my upcoming Move.
This facility is so clean & newer than many others. It’s well lit and offers carts for moving items plus the elevators are over sized. They also are well lit and they have bathrooms. I’m tempted to move in there.
They even have an enclosed area for unloading from your truck. I’d have been shopping all day for a unit if Morgan & Matt hadn’t been so friendly & accommodating 💜🎉

Bloomingdale Avenue extra space storage

I’ve been a client of extra space storage for about 3 years- I’ve come back to Florida from another state to get my things out of 2 units. Stephen Gifford, the store manager let the PODS driver in to the yard before I arrived and made sure my transition was smooth and easy. Stephen made my move actually pleasant as he was checking in on us and helped us any way he could. He is a very kind person and facilitates a safe and fruitful experience, such that access and interaction was a total win. I was very very happy with my experience at this storage facility because of Stephen Gifford, the store manager.

App does not work when VPN is enabled

I couldn't understand why my app wasn't working suddenly and I couldn't access the gate at my local Extra Space location. Turns out the app does not work with VPN. That is fine but the app should say something like "If you are unable to view your unit(s), check that VPN is disabled. This app does not work with VPN." Instead, I had to make a phone call and be placed on hold just to find out that I should disable my VPN. A brief statement in the app would fix this issue immediately.

Excellent customer service

Started my reservation on my telephone and wasn’t sure if it went through. I showed up in person. John took excellent care of me expedited tying up all the fine details taking my payment giving me my keys and showing me to my new storage space and explaining how to download the app in order to get direct access John was extremely helpful and friendly. Love the storage units and management is great at my location. However, I need to be able to log into the extra space storage app in order to enter and exit the property aaaand this is the message I receive when I attempt to login: “If you are not seeing your unit(s) sign-out and back in to associate the units to your account.
If your units have been successfully added to your account, sign-out and then back in to see your unit(s).” I deleted and added the app again, logged into and out several times but still receive the message above. Why can’t I access the app? It’s hindering how often I can access my storage unit and need to get in and out without any issues. Please help. Any advisement would be helpful. Thank you ~

Marginally OK, horrible support

The app only works half the time, the labels of the various doors and gates that you can open with the app jump around and flip and change constantly as the app is trying to discover those available devices. 75% of the time the open button that you actually are able to touch has a label that doesn’t match what actually ends up opening! Most of the time when I’m able to get the exit gate to open, it says door one or three next to it. Pretty sloppy

OUTSTANDING SERVICE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I went to Extra Space Storage to rent a unit at the Windsor Mill location. I was greeted by the sweetest lady name Loretta, he smile can light up a room. She was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable of the storage units and explained in great detail of the different sizes and pricing. Loretta took me for a tour of the available units and went over square footage and pricing of each storage unit sizes.
They units were well kept and cleaned. Loretta also explained the renting process and explained everything at great length and answered any questions that I had.
I rented a unit and HIGHLY recommend Extra Space Storage for all your storage needs, way better than U-Haul. I wholeheartedly give FIVE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ great experience!

The Kay Experience

I’m a big believer in energy; it’s real, it’s transferred, and I feel it deeply. Walking into this business today, I was already aggravated and honestly had zero intentions of doing any of this. But here I am…. Looking for a storage unit before October 25th. And then I met Kayron. Let me just say, she is the sweetest, most professional representative I’ve ever encountered. Her energy??? So warm and welcoming. Completely infectious 🤷🏽‍♀️I came in with 50 million questions (no exaggeration 😂) and she answered every single single one with clarity, patience, and kindness. I can never pay online

This app is awful. I have nothing but problems with it every time. I am unable to pay online, the app freezes every time. Besides trying to pay through the app, the app serves no purpose. I can’t open any doors or gates using the app, even though it was advertised that way. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, made sure my software is up to do… nothing but problems. The app is awful and the storage facility is awful, I would rather waste time moving all my stuff to another facility than stay here.

I have had the worst experience creating an account and logging in to see my “lease” for my unit A183 I went to create a man account 4 different times and received multiple issues with no successful login. When I finally was able to create an account, it the system asked me to log in and out on the app and on the site 4 additional times the first two times where it came up with error pages. Please if you would be willing to fix this issue I think it would help many more new customers in the near future and hopefully they would not have as hard time as I did.

Horridly designed system/app. Disappointing experience and wasted a significant chunk of my time

I originally felt signup online was a breeze, and was hoping that would continue as I went to the location to drop off a first load. Wanted to use the app, but then proceeded to spend over and hour wrestling with the app to get it installed and my account reflgistered. Over half an hour was spent on the phone with support because the signup process via browser accepts valid characters in the email, but the mobile app doesn’t. This feels like a problem because it means they are not allowing what is stated as acceptable characters in the specification for this kind of communication address (email)…without any guidance or feedback to the user.
I was told I had to use a different email, and had to go through the process of updating my account and the filters AND MY OWN EMAIL SYSTEMS, as I set up automation based on email addresses for managing my financial related messages.
HUGELY frustrating.
Specifically, in this case, the “+” sign was the issue…which many of us use for automated filters and processing, and some use for accessibility tooling. I would recommend they fix this asap.
At this point, I’m not sure I like this place because I wonder what other concerns I should have about the quality of the app. I chose this place because it was a few bucks less than another chain that is actually closer to me, and now find I wish I had gone with them. I would pay not to have to deal with this kind of disappointment.

Exceptional CS

My agent, Red at 821 Elder St in Harrisburg Pa was exceptional in all the ways helping me obtain my unit. Every step of the way was held with the highest integrity. This is the very best experience I have ever had with moving into a storage unit. All concerns were answered as the mission of the storage business in accountability was in being highly transparent and evident. Every star is granted with bar none fantastic service. I highly recommend working with Red as he is awesome. If there was 10 stars to give instead of 5, an award of high caliber would be honored.

Ashley the manager of the extra storage space was so informative about everything and very helpful and knowledgeable in regards to what size storage unit I needed plus she recommended climate controlled. She knew how overwhelmed I was, but she was so helpful every single step of the way. Even the next day when the big movers finally got into town. She went out of her way to explain every single thing to them because she knew how OCD I was. She’s unbelievable. She knows exactly what she’s doing. Javon was amazing!!

I needed a storage unit ASAP and Javon Hines at the Brewster location was so helpful. He showed my wife and I several options and explained all of the payment options and terms of the agreement. Capricorn rule!

From the 1st phone call to Debbie, the whole experience was pleasant, professional, and efficient.
The facility is next to brand new. Clean, spacious and all around amazing. Debbie was very informative, efficient and quite pleasant. We feel very comfortable about leaving our classic expensive car and the rest of our items at this location. We would very much highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for professionalism and courtesy as well as a clean safe environment for their belongings.

Unit Pay options

Please add Apple Pay to the form of payment. It is not available under Payment but I saw it available under My Account/Make Payment, however the Apple Pay screen does not stay on long enough to choose the card and make the transaction. It keeps going away. (The same happens on the desktop, by the way. Strange!)
Also, the app log in does not stick throughout the app experience. I need to put in my log in credentials when I go to My Account. Thank you for fixing these!:)

Strange behavior

Really strange developer choices in this app. If you haven’t started your storage contract yet when you login it says ‘the unit is already being managed call XXX-XXX-XXXX’ and when you call they say ‘it says this before you start your contract’. Why doesn’t it work like the website? Why give this misleading message? Why make the customer call the line, wait on hold and just find it’s actually fine and completely expected? Why make a customer do this? Why not just give a decent error/message? Why make the custom contact customer service? UPDATE: The developer suggests I contact customer service. But I already did, as the review states, and they told me it was expected behavior. So I think the developer response is not genuine and just a cut and paste.

Weird behavior for new customers

Really strange developer choices in this app. If you haven’t started your storage contract yet when you login it says ‘the unit is already being managed call XXX-XXX-XXXX’ and when you call customer service they say ‘it says this expected before you start your contract. Why doesn’t it work like the website where it gives a meaningful message? Why give this misleading message as if something is wrong when it’s not? Why make the customer waste their time calling customer service? What impression does this give the customer?

Glitchy & inconvenient

This app is so glitchy and makes making a payment such a pain. I went on this morning to pay my bill & it recommended updating the app for “bug fixes” so I did; now the app won’t even open. Everytime I click it I’m thrown back to my Home Screen. This app is supposed to make viewing your payments & information more easily accessible and yet all it’s done is make it more difficult. Prior to this update situation, I was never even allowed to view my payment history only my current due payment. Serious work needs to be done on this app.

Have to sign in EVERY TIME

This app would be ok if it actually worked. I sign in with my email and password, and then it asks me if I want to enable Face ID, which I say yes. Then the next time I open the app it lets it open with Face ID, and it shows that Face ID was accepted, BUT… then it just takes me to the sign in page! Ugh. What’s the purpose of enabling Face ID if I have to sign in every single time???? It’s very irritating. So I have to ALWAYS sign in every time I open the app. I haven’t even been able to try opening the gate with the app yet because I can never remember my password so I can’t log in. I’ve finally put my password somewhere that I can find it, so I will see if it works next time. But what a pain.

The Best Storage Location

There are many storage spaces throughout Manhattan and next door boroughs, and over the years, I have used several. However, the Extra Storage Space located at 58 West 143rd Street, is by far the best. Not only is the location a great spot, the staff there is second to none. Between their kindness and great hospitality, the facility is wonderful. Thank you Extra Space storage and staff.

Allison is a peach!

Allison was the best! She was very polite and respectful and very honest and very accommodating to my needs. She explained everything to me about the rental property in great detail. I was able to get a month free. I paid no taxes. I was in an out in no time at all. All my expectations were high and met to perfection. I’m so glad I chose ExtraSpaceStorage. Automatic payments won’t take

I hate that another company bought my storage company, and I had to set up automatic payments again. Unfortunately, I’ve tried this twice, and it keeps failing. I tried to delete one of the cards, but it would not allow me to do so, so I have the same card on file twice. I am uncomfortable giving a stranger my credit card numbers out over the phone. Yes, some of you will say go into the storage and pay in person. I don’t live in that state currently, so I can’t do that. Developer fix the app!!!
*** Update. After trying to pay again with the same card and getting two declined notices saying that my payment failed. I finally got approval, saying payment posted. Unfortunately, after checking my bank account, I noticed that the previous two payments that the app said failed actually went through. I did not want to pay for three months of storage. I tried calling the company, but no one picked up.

App doesn’t work again

So we got an update and digital access stopped working…..after a lot of complaining we got another update and it started working….then along came this latest update and digital access stopped working again and hasn’t for a while…..was thinking that a fix was coming soon but it has been months….tried deleting the app and reinstalling but nothing….can’t back up to a different revision but can’t….and when you try to notify via the Customer Relations link the email won’t let you send….only option is to call 800# but I don’t have time for that as working 12 hrs or more each day just to make ends meet…..

Great and easy customer service. Shelby storage lady (sorry I forgot her name) front desk is so friendly on the phone and helpful.
Great access to a large garage to put your trailer to unload items. Well lighted and clean. Not necessary to bring your own lock as they have them there for use in new original package.
If you need 24 hour access make sure you enquire about it.

An App that has Office Hours?!?

I wanted to review the dimensions of my space because I’m going to ave to leave it since the rates on it have jumped up Twice within 11 months.
I’m not talking about small jumps either. I’m talking about impressive price gouging jumps.
The kind of price gouging that used to be reserved to insurance companies and cable tv suppliers.
Nowadays, the supermarkets and storage renters have gotten into the act of screwing us with our pants on too.
My 10 x 8 (?) cost me $213 a/mth when I first rented it last Dec.
Two months later (Feb) the rate went up to $308! It increased by 90% from it initial rent in 60 DAYS!
Now, I discover that the rent went up AGAIN in Nov another $84 to $382!
From $213 to $382 in under a year.
So, I open this app to remind myself of the actual dimensions of this closet and it won’t tell me.
I have to call “customer service”
(I’d give 10 to 1 odds that it’s an overseas call) or wait for the office to open for this app to tell me the square footage so I can start comparison shopping in order to move my belongings to a more affordable place.

Great experience

I have been researching storage units in the area for a while. I came across Extra space storage. I stopped by to check it out. The place was immaculate and the representative was more than helpful. He Showed me a few units. We discussed pros and cons. I decided on one. Moving day was a breeze. They have carts that you can use ample parking and convenient elevators. I couldn’t be more happy with my choice.

I can’t remember her name, but she lives on the premises. She is very courteous and accommodating. She is a very caring and sweet person. The App Needs Tweaking

I have attempted logging in here for probably 4 or 5 times. I’m in the middle of medical appointments today. However, I had only not been on the screen for maybe 5 PM minutes. And it made me start all over again when I was halfway through putting my information in.
Then I began reading the terms and conditions. And a couple times now, instead of letting me back to check the box next to it, it made me start all over again. That’s very frustrating.
Also, with reference to creating the password, the last time it put up instructions of what I needed to include in it, yet that didn’t show•up the several previous times.
Then, after I FINALLY got an account created just now, I’m on the page but I can’t access my unit information. I need to take a screenshot of the bill. That’s why I created the account just now.
How quickly can you help me access that?

Stupid game of whack-a-mole in digital access!

This app has had a usability problem with the digital access ever since it first launched, but this is freaking ridiculous now. The app continuously scans for access points in the area, and EVERY TIME it refreshes access points, the position of the list changes. So you want to hit Elevator 3? It's the first button. Second button. 4th button. Psyche! 1st button again. 3rd button. 1st button. EVERY SECOND it changes. Like a horribly cursed rhythm game, and you open the wrong lock and have to wait 10 seconds (all other buttons grey out) if they change while you're tapping.
I hate this game. A lot.

Highly recommend!!

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The gentleman working in the office was informative, helpful and professional. I was a little nervous that our moving truck would not make the turns needed to get to our assigned unit so he told me a little trick and helped us back right in making it so much easier. He answered all of my questions thoroughly and made our moving day go smoothly.
Rates are reasonable and the units are kept up and secure.
I absolutely recommend this facility for any storage needs!

Great experience all around

From start to finish in only 24 hours the process of securing a unit and gaining access was effortless. During a difficult time that happened suddenly, being displaced and trying to secure personal items but most importantly sentimental items, I was treated with kindness and compassion. Starting with Jessie (sp) who patiently help me through the process via phone, then when I arrived at the location trying to figure out how to access the gate, locate my unit, and had multiple questions about the entire process ( because I couldn’t find the email with all the information) I was professionally greeted by Catrina. After a long stressful day it was refreshing to be greeted with not only a smile, but someone who could see my stress, continued to reassure me she will take care of everything and she did above and beyond. She even made a point hours later to check in with me, making sure I was okay. Overall a great experience

Let me in

I have been a customer for a while, but since this second time that it’s changed ownership, none of the access has been available, prices are skyrocketing. I’m wondering what is happening with this company and why so many ownership issues. Now my gate isn’t opening for me, called the help line, they couldn’t figure things out. I’m left looking at the company in a different light. The facts are not stacking up to make the company look positive.

I feel scammed

This place is very misleading and I feel scammed... I rented a unit for $96 a month and everything was fine until I got a bill for $181. I gave them a call and they told me that "the market value doubled" and so now the $181 charge is what I am going to be paying every month. The confirmation email I first received after purchasing the rental stated that my next fee was going to be $96 but now they tell me that they can charge whatever they want because of "market value". Extra Storage Space is dishonest and actively deceits their customers. I mean just look at the rest of the reviews..

Not user Friendly

I tried 6 times this morning trying to reset my password just to pay my bill and it kept choosing its own password on the website as that’s where your directed to change the password. It automatically chooses this password you go to sign in and it says invalid password/ invalid email. I go to my setting into my iPhone and delete the password it selects and it keeps me in this loop of invalid password/ invalid email. I proceeded to call the company and the customer service agents can’t handle my frustration and they all give me the option of a ticket or they simply couldn’t help. I had to get out of bed just to get on my computer to change my password on the website how inconvenient.

If I could give this a zero I would.

Rented storage with blue tooth lock. Tried to set up the app. Repeatedly got unable to load message after I went through all the steps. I’ve deleted the app multiple times, powered off my phone twice. Still getting error message, which I have on screenshot. Tried to call for support. Never answered. Drove to extra space storage. Very nice person there. He had me delete it again. The Wi-Fi at extra space not sufficient to access the App Store and reinstall, so I ordered a drink at caribou to use their Wi-Fi. Could access the App Store from there but same error messages. I’m driving around with a dresser in my car that blocks the rear view. Luckily I have a back up camera. So very frustrated. The person at extra space told me today that he could move me to a unit with a lock but it would be more $. I like the concept of the blue tooth lock and that I can also give my sister access but I’ve got about 4 hours in for trying to set up, delete, shut down phone….using iPhone SE, was running 16.3.1 just updated to 16.4 to see if that would solve the problems. It didn’t. I wish the extra space number gave the hours they answer calls. I am waiting for a call back. Second time today that I’ve tried. No call back yet. Are they even open for tech assist tonight????

Update: Cannot open gate with app

My facility was just upgrade for Digital access via APP. No way to access it and when tapping share it replies only available with facilities with digital access. I did receive an email that digital access is available. I deleted the APP reinstalled it but it asked for SIRI access. No, I'm not going to talk to my phone nor activate it on my iPhone. I expect to open the app, tap access, then open. The account home page still has * and # and the new system no longer uses these digits. ........".........................."
Update: just last week, Jan 11, the app now fully functions. I do not know when it started but I thought I take a look at it. Never did get an updated notice. Surprisingly the doors to the building also work from the APP. It would be nice if it worked on CarPlay so you're not fiddling with the phone to get to the app. For some reason, this morning I had to log in before Face ID would work. Maybe the iPhone had an update but it was the first time in a week.

FIX IT ALREADY!! Garbage App Won’t Load!

Can’t open unit since it only uses app. Called ph# already for help, resolved nothing, 2 weeks later is same problem. Previous App worked fine. This will cost you business. Planning to ditch Extraspace Storage for this (assuming I can ever get into the unit to remove things).
Update: it eventually it worked. I understood it was an issue with the new app, seemed to be resolved. Today, a few months later. Same problem. I can’t open my unit because the app won’t work. It will login, but not fully load. It does work for others that I met at the site, but not all. We’re wondering if it’s phone type, or provider related? I have fully update iPhone 13, bought 6 months ago, and T-Mobile (data is 600m/s right now) so it doesn’t add up.

Used to be great!!

We’ve been using Extra space storage for a year now. Manager has been extraordinarily nice and helpful. When the app was developed to help access to our unit, we thought it was great. About a little over one month ago they “upgraded” the app. Now we can’t access the app at all. We called support for assistance because the app now says “it seems we don’t have any rentals with them”, even though we’ve paid for a year in advance. Twice support tells us they don’t understand what the issue is but said they can’t help us. Since today is on a weekend, we will have to wait until the office opens on Monday to see if we can get help. So much for an “upgrade” and help from support!!

New update breaks it

It was working fine. Following the lastest update, it will no longer launch. iPhone xr, ios 14.8
UPDATE: The developers got back to me within an hour about this issue, and had a fix for the problem within a few days, if that! Now, updated with the face recognition, the app makes it so much easier to enter the storage facility’s premises.

Automatic sign outs

Every time I open this app I have to sign back in. It seems that it automatically signed you out if you haven’t used it in a couple of weeks. This usually leaves me sitting at the gate to the facility fumbling around trying to enter in a password. To make matters worse the login screen doesn’t seem to be compatible with my password manager for some reason so I have to manually enter or copy and paste the password. The older version of the app did not seem to have this problem. If you fix this I think the app will be fine.
