If the features weren’t locked behind a paywall, it’d be great

The idea of the app is fantastic—I love to go on research rabbit holes rather than doomscrolling.
However, the point of the app is completely overthrown by the fact that almost every single feature that was advertised is only available if you pay for their subscription. The only thing you can do for free on this app is their “daily read,” which takes only a minute to get through and you cannot read it after a certain time of the day (unless, of course, you pay for their subscription). For an app that really acts like it cares for the livelihood and productivity of its users, it absolutely loves to ask you every single second to pay for their subscription, which is far more distracting. Every time I click on a feature that’s locked, a pop up appears with a “special offer” that’s just another feeble attempt at getting me to pay for this app.
It sucks even more because, as far as I’m aware, this is the only app of its niche that doesn’t use garbage generative AI to make all the art and actually makes an effort to hire artists. It’d be nice if, again, it didn’t ask you every two seconds to pay for 99.9% of the features they advertised as automatically coming with the app.
If I wanted to scroll through something mindlessly while being begged constantly to pay for a service I don’t need, I’d just go back to doomscrolling on TikTok. This app needs to reconsider its priorities.

Learning and scrolling

I’ve been needing a social media break and this app is perfect for when I want to scroll without the chaos of the internet. Informative, entertaining, and a fun way to keep learning and pass time. I’d give it five stars if it was a free app, I’m sad at the thought of my free trail ending but $15 a month isn’t manageable.

Just self help books

This app is advertised as a learning library that will train your brain with games. I wish there was a larger selection of things to learn. Most of the sections are self help. I enjoyed the bite size history section, but it was very small and I found it to be lacking in a lot of subjects. It has the backbone of something that could be good, but it’s ultimately not worth the price. You are better off reading actual books or watching youtube videos.

Subscription based before you even start?

I think it’s quite stupid that you need a subscription first of all to learn, but second to even use the app to begin with. It doesn’t even let you try the app before quickly prompting you to subscribe for their trial period. It also makes you put in your personal information before telling you that you need to pay for it. It’s honestly stupid would not recommend.

Greed

I dislike this app, because like most apps, they make a subscription for the full experience of the app, but this app is worse, you can’t even actually start on a course in the beginning because you have to buy the subscription so why do you promote that you want what’s best for us, when you also project your greediness.

I really liked the concept but its none well

It’s a great concept. I was really hoping it was more gonna be educational videos similar to TikTok and reels but their educational instead it’s kind of these courses that really are pretty bland and quite frankly aren’t that informative it also makes me re-sign in every time I open the app which is a real pain it’s not cheap so there’s just a lot of things. I think they need to work on before this could be something become something bigger The way they Mark is kind of as a replacement for doom scrolling and it’s really just not at all similar to scrolling on TikTok or something like that, but it is a good idea.

Onslaught of pop-ups

My entire experience was a lengthy intro questionnaire, followed by pop-up after pop-up. Shame on me for not reading the payment info more thoroughly, but I can’t stand apps that walk you through a long form and only THEN tell you that you have to give your card for a free trial.

Deceptive pricing

If you are going to offer a free trial, then make it FREE. Don’t make me cancel or I’ll be charged. And don’t ask me to pay $75 and when I exit the screen change the price to $45 and when I exit again change the price to $29 and then finally $19. Careful with trial

I downloaded this app on recommendation from a friend. It lets you know that it’s a short period trial that automatically signs you up for a subscription but it doesn’t state in Bold type that it hits you with an entire years worth of subscription at once for over $70. This kind of mugging in App trials is completely unacceptable. The product is actually good what little l have used of it. Spending a months of Sub cost at like $10 was going to be worth it to see if it was a lifestyle fit for me but it socked me for an entire years worth. I sent them a message through report an issue and if they correct it than l will change the star rating.

Another app with annoying growth tactics

Have seen plenty of compelling ads, so I finally decided to try the app. Then answer a long questionnaire, create account, and a paywall for the “free trial.” This is an established but unfortunate growth pattern these days. Why not just let me try the content, then cliff me to continue? The incremental revenue you’re capturing from inadvertent longer term signups isn’t real retention. It’s a shame, because you seem to have a cool product. But it’s not worth the casual try for me.

Self-help for people who don’t actually want to learn

I kept seeing Instagram ads for this app promising it would replace doomscrolling with meaningful learning. In reality, it just repackages the same dopamine driven design. You’re still tapping through flashy animations and carefully timed rewards. It’s optimized to feel productive without requiring much thought.
The content is shallow across the board. It skims over topics with oversimplified takeaways dressed up like wisdom. In the Buddhism module for example, they mention the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path in such a watered down form that they barely mean anything. Meditation, which should be the central practice, is reduced to just another optional habit. The whole thing feels afraid to be specific or challenging.
I’ll give credit where it’s due; the visuals are beautiful. The animations and illustrations are really well done and clearly had effort put into them. But once you get past the polish, there’s not much holding it up.
Also, it does that shady app review prompt trick. If you say you’re enjoying it, you get sent to the App Store. If you say you’re not, it quietly opens a feedback form instead. They want praise in public and criticism in private.
If you’re actually trying to learn something, look elsewhere. This is just feel good content dressed up like education.

An app probably made by consultants. Scam.

I hate this app so much. Did a free trial and forgot to cancel. So I figure I should try to get into the app since it charged me $100+ for the year. The lessons are basically ChatGPT in what they think is an aesthetically pleasing layout. Seriously go ask ChatGPT to summarize one of the books on here and it’ll give you a better response. They’re not forming any insights, they’re copying what the books say. The “quizzes” are middle school questions that you only need to remember the exact phrasing of a sentence two slides ago. Fill in the blanks with two synonyms that could both work, but one’s “wrong” because they didn’t actually put any thought into this and just doing the bare minimum. I coming up on a year and I feel as though thyme could be upwards of 1000 book summaries on this app, but they’re hovering at around 120. Given the content going into these summaries, personally I feel as though I could churn out one a day if this was my full time job. Meanwhile they’ve added probably less than 20 in a year. If this app actually gave insights that aren’t available in a google search, and it included wayyyyy more books, it might be a good idea. Until then it’s a cash grab and a language model in app form that’s charging way more than most others which are free and better.

Neurodivergent Friendly and Educational

I love that this app offers unconventional types of “books” to learn from in a simple way. The graphics aren’t overwhelming and the information comes in bite sized chunks. It is not very common for me to pick up reading materials this way, let alone retain the information. For that reason, I went ahead and bought a year subscription. I was hoping to see a more expansive library but I think that will come with time. It would be amazing to see a certificate program come from this. As I said before, I have issues with learning in the traditional sense and this app has been super helpful. It would also be cool to have sweeping categories to get lost in like a Wikipedia page. 🤓 And maybe some sound effects. Well see how this anual subscription goes!

Unprofessionally Biased History

Very nice design, but marred by the content.
Instead of going by historian consensus, presenting legitimate varying theories on issues, or relying on historians highly respected by their peers, whoever wrote the history section simply read one pop history book for each unit, then paraphrased key points from it, without acknowledging the subjectivity of certain claims. It’s clear an actual historian was not employed for this.
For example, the first three units state that agriculture created civilization and made human lives worse (Yurari), and that human survival is less important than the general survival of all other life on Earth (Kolbert). It continues to Guns, Germs, and Steel, which the American Anthropological Association wrote an entire book criticizing.
Whether you agree with these statements or not, they are not objective facts, and it is not appropriate to wedge blatant biases from solo authors into an app that presents itself as if it’s giving an unbiased, straightforward history. You can state, for example, that some historians think agriculture ruined most people’s health and lives, but you should present the other side.
Lazy pop history.

Bait and Switch?

Never fully used the app, but it doesn’t show you at all how it works. They jump straight in to a survey. Afterwards there’s still no info. It just says sign up for 1 week free and auto bill yearly at $100! That’s a lot of money for still no idea how the app works. Feels like they want you to sign up while you’re still curious and then hopefully forget to turn it off if you don’t like it or forget to use it in those 7 days. Feels like the same strategy fitness gyms use. I wonder if they are hoping that because you filled out the survey, you won’t want to give up. Sorry but I’m not signing up $100 when I have no idea what the app actually does with only the info of a couple tag lines. Posting reviews during the survey also feels like you are pushing so hard to get people to complete it like a hustler convincing you that this is the right and basically only good choice. I’m getting strong scam vibes.
You need a better onboarding experience so people can decide if that app is right for them before paying. Signing up for automatic $100 with a cancel anytime doesn’t count because you are betting that people will forget to turn it off. Not cool.

Age rating needs to be changed or ads before each unit

Before anyone reads this I haven’t REALLY used the app because I wasn’t able to but I’m going to explain why even though I’m sure this is a great app! So I’m a little older than 12 and I downloaded the app. I was really excited because I looked at some reviews and they said it was amazing! However when I got it I didn’t know that you had to pay, and I’m someone who has no job because a little older than 12. I’m kinda disappointed and I think there should be an age change or like a way to watch an ad before each unit. I’m sure this is a great app, I’m just disappointed I can’t use it without paying. Even if I do the free trial there will be no point because I won’t be able to pay for the actual trial. Which is just sad. So again either change the age rating or a way for there to be ads before each unit please 🙏🥲

Ruined my escape from information overload

When I first tried this app a couple years ago it was like I could exhale because I wasn’t bombarded by all the chaos of social media. We just got back to a place where I can afford the premium subscription again, but sadly I came back to an app that has “XP” animations after each book section - I have no idea what this is or what the numbers mean!? Nor do I know (or care) what the point of all the badges are. And now I have to zig zag through a graphic to get to each book section, and things are organized by “courses” instead of simply by books. I am sure there are many people that find this enticing, but I really wish there was a way to turn all of that off (at least the “XP”). It’s an awesome idea that feels like it’s just become too gamified.

Free to download, Paywalled to use

I heard of this app through Legal Eagle’s video, and the concept immediately interested me. I was thrilled to replace my doomscrolling with comprehensive interactive lessons on topics that interest me, so I downloaded immediately. Then, I see that I have to sign up for a 7 day free trial. As i do not have the disposable income to sign up for subscriptions, i figure “whatever, i’ll use it for a few days and then never again I guess” and I try to start my first lesson. However, I can’t even access a lesson without putting in my card information. While I still think the concept of this app is awesome, it fails to acknowledge the reason that so many people don’t spend their free time learning, because it’s inaccessible due to paywalls!! The people who can afford this app can afford to spend their disposable income on resources like books or classes, but the people who cannot afford these things are exactly the people that need technology like this to be free! Putting information behind a paywall is, historically, the reason that class dictates education level, and this app is a perfect example of this.

get rid of the streak feature PLEASE

i don’t know why this hasn’t occurred to anyone here, but the streak feature needs to be able to be shut off. i don’t want to use this app whenever the streak gets messed up. and it also doesn’t count you as using the app unless you finish a whole section. if there’s a streak feature it should be counting using the app at all. have you ever considered your users feel like failures when they can’t keep the streak up? it makes me not want to subscribe to this app at all. please make it a toggle feature. i’m considering unsubscribing as it stands. i’ve already recommended this once when i unsubscribed the first time. but i’m definitely at a point again i don’t want to try with this app. it’s impossible to feel good about using it. if you consider that some of your visual learners might struggle with depression, making this a game you have to win doesn’t work. i just want to feel good about making progress at all. but your app doesn’t count all progress as progress. it’s just some of it. that’s lame.

Repetitive; lots of superfluous pointless images; maybe nonetheless worthwhile.

Repetitive; lots of superfluous pointless images; apparently made for overly distractible people with poor reading comprehension plus attentional issues. Then again, if those problems describe you, then maybe this app will be good for you. Meanwhile, I'm starting to get annoyed by it, but I'm going to look past the annoyances if the knowledge imparted builds up enough to make it worth the time it takes to sit through the repetition and the low-value images. There are a lot of graphics that pretend to be infographic in nature but upon closer inspection are largely fluff, seemingly bread and circuses for the sake of including extra cartoons masquerading as 'almost-a-useful-graph.' Oh well.

Amazing app to avoid social media

I never leave reviews but imprint has blown me away in how they put complex subject in fun small “summaries” without being overwhelming and without being too bland. Imprint hits the spot when it comes to grabbing your attention as soon as you open any of the lessons. I did the free trial first and I’m definitely planning to get the full version soon. I hope they keep coming out with new lessons for anatomy! For nursing students like me that suffer with adhd it would be a perfect way to learn complex subjects. Regardless, I’ve loved every single lesson for history & business so far! Would recommend for anyone looking to replace doom scrolling and enrich the mind instead.

Awesome app!

Got the free trial and I love it so far. I have apps like this that summarize books for you like headway, but this one is better for my learning style. I like the visualization aspect of it, and instead of scrolling forever with social media. I have been getting on here instead and growth scrolling. I have been using it for business, but I’m pretty sure there are a lot of other topics on here as well. Check out the free trial and see if it’s right for you. I might buy a year of it. My time is limited and books can be expensive and if you’re a slow reader time consuming. This will be a good way to save some time, and still get the golden nuggets from the material.

Meaning and joy??? In this economy?

While I was initially swayed by the superior aesthetics of the Imprint app, the nods to Socrates and the pull of the stoic, generically attractive boys in his wake, I found myself confronted with a paywall mere moments after I un-resigned myself to depressed mediocrity and resolved to find meaning and joy in a life that has so little of the two. For 16 dollars a month, I could make something of myself. For 100 dollars a year, I could taste the wisdom of the old gods. I wish I wasn’t unemployed. I wish I could afford greatness.
For anyone who has ever asked themselves if their life will ever amount to more than what it is, I have an answer for you. You are nothing. You are me. We are in line behind the paywall, waiting for nothing. We love our slop and our low attention spans. I will see you at the trough, brother.
I think I will talk to my Rage Club about this.

Feeling scammy

Despite the claims of “frequently adding new titles”, nothing has been added in months. No big deal if the existing library was huge, but there are only enough “chapters” to hit a daily reading goal of three chapters for a single, one-year subscription period. Probably not coincidentally, there are _exactly_ enough chapters (3x365), if generously counting titles that are duplicated by bundling them together as “daily courses”.
The app receives updates like clockwork for “bug fixes and performance improvements”, despite neither fixes to bugs nor improvements to performance, making the updates feel more like a ruse to keep the app looking fresh in the app store.
The concept is good: Distilling popular books into byte-sized nuggets with some accompanying illustrations or catchy visuals. But as of now this seems like an abandoned project that is trying to seem not so, while coasting on an expensive subscription model.

Loving it so far

I love the bite sized lessons! For me, Imprint solves:
- I never have enough time to read as much as I would like to.
- As much as I love reading, there's a lot of time wasted in unnecessary details or "filler" content for ideas that are great but could be conveyed in a fraction of words.
- This allows me to explore a lot more topics that I might not otherwise because I can leisurely jump around without committing a lot of time to it.
As for constructive feedback, some notes:
- Sources and a link to "learn more" would be greatly appreciated. I had to spend a lot of time trying to find the research studies mentioned just based on the few data points provided.
- Push notifications don't seem to work. I'd like to have daily reminders, or a widget. Duolingo's reminders, for example, are quite effective.
- When both the image and the text changes, the image changing is a strong visual cue that draws all the attention. The text change, on the other hand, doesn't "look" like it changed, so I find myself straining to check whether the text actually changed and that distracts from the content. This is specially jarring due to the fact that the lesson experience is otherwise so natural and intuitive. I'd suggest changing one at a time (eg text disappears when image changes, then add new text on next card).
Overall this is an excellent app and I absolutely love and appreciate the value proposition. Great work!

It works because it’s simple!

The summaries are good and the app design supports learning key concepts quickly. (For example, you have to tap to move forward in the summary so you can’t just hit “play” and tune out.) I save key concepts as I go so I can scroll back and reinforce the points that stood out to me in each reading. This is great if you’re a content writer, like me, who wants to catalogue references to popular books or statistics from psychological studies. I also found that going through the Imprint visual summary of a full audiobook I was listening to (Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown) really helped me retain more information from the book.

Beginning section is an ad I can’t get through

There is a trend among many apps where you launch it and have to sit through a five-minute questionnaire before you can see what the app is. The unskippable questions look like they’re tuning the app to your specific needs, but it’s really a long advertisement. How long do you have to study every day? Answer 10 minutes, and the next screen will tell you it’s hard to find time to study, but these are the ways the app can help. If the opening section is any indication of how this app will have no respect for my time, then I can’t allow it to take up any more. How about you actually make the app valuable so I want to engage with it instead of selling me on a product I’ve already downloaded and launched? I’ll try to find a similar app to fulfill my needs, but one that doesn’t begin our relationship with deceit, manipulation, and trickery.

I love to spend time on this app.

This app and the subscription have been very worth it. I love to learn new things, and this app has made it very easy and practical to do so. Since I love to spend time on this app, here are a few things I’d love to see added that would make me spend even more time on here.
One, some sort of analytics page that shows daily time spent learning, quizzes completed, weekly/monthly/yearly progression; analytics that would make me feel good about and give me a motivating visual for completing/learning more!
Two, more quizzes! I love to be able to complete more quizzes/recap questions so I can ensure the consolidation of what I read. Quizzes for specific topics/genres. Quizzes of different lengths. Or even a system where the user can create their own quiz by choosing how many questions, what genres/books, etc.
Three, more general customization. I’d love an option to change the background of the app. I’d say just giving the UI of the app the polish up it deserves.
Thanks!

Talk about getting your wings clipped.
Obviously nothing is free, but when a person is looking to better their mental health, selecting all the prompts to get you to your lesson. Then a pop up “anxiety is a bad habit” but to know why you must pay. That really doesn’t help the “bad habit” . Reasonable price, possibly for those who want to better their financial knowledge . Probably not the best for those who just want to better their mental health. On a lighter note the good thing is that the payments can be recurring so one can feel safe about getting a “bad habit” attack if they forget to pay their bill. I’m sure it’s a good app though . Four stars because it got me motivated , not five because I don’t fully know if works as it promotes itself.

All visual learners out there…

If you’re anything like me, traditional reading and memorization methods just don’t click with your brain. I only realized later in life that I’m a visual learner. Enter Imprint… This app is truly remarkable. Despite hesitating due to the price, I took the plunge after reading numerous reviews and seeking advice. Imprint tailors a plan for you based on simple questions about your interests and goals. It’s astounding how much material it can pack into a short 5-minute session. What’s even cooler is that you don’t fully grasp how much you’ve learned until after completing a chapter.
I highly recommend Imprint for anyone struggling to retain information from reading. It has completely revolutionized my learning experience.

Some distracting language errors

I find the information provided in this app invaluable. But as a US-based writer and editor, I was disappointed to see typos and mistakes. For example, “towards” is used throughout. That’s UK English; US English is “toward.” Unit 6 repeats a sentence with subject-verb disagreement. Part of a sentence reads, “that allow someone receive,” so “to” is missing. Commas are misused. Extra spaces remain between hyphenated terms. Perhaps the proofreading was rushed or performed by someone with other skills. The authors will be shocked to learn of these oversights in their excellent work, but experts make mistakes. I’d be happy to proofread the work free of charge, because I gained quite a lot from my free trial. Either way, thank you.

Missing full content of individual courses shown, can’t complete courses

I was enjoying this app until today when I discovered that my course, Essential Philosophy, was cut short. Even though the app shows that I am in the middle of the course, with many more open circles to reach for, there are no more content sections available. The app says I’ll be notified when more content is available. I paid the full $100 for this app, so why am I not receiving the full content? It seems that the topic I’ve been studying is only half published. Does this mean that there are many other courses or topics that I can’t complete because they were never finished by the authors?
Does this mean that I need to stick to the much shorter topic discussions with less content? The problem I have with that is that the nuggets of information on the shorter topics are basically book blurbs in comparison to the main courses.
It appears that there is a lot of content on this app, but the more I look into it, the more I see courses that overlap and are duplicated in subject areas that are not relevant to my interest of study. This seems to suggest that there is more content than there really is. If there are tons of topics across many subjects that have unfinished content, what is the point of spending money on this app?

Great App

To be honest, I’m quite fond of Imprint, but I have to say I’ve never been fond of apps that let you sign up and THEN ask for money. Just make the app purchased upfront or subscriptive at the same time as signup. It’s not that it’s completely unaffordable, but at the price it’s asking, there should be some sort of free option or something. What I’m saying is most people won’t choose this over Netflix, and subscriptions add up.
That’s just my opinion. The app itself is phenomenal. Now that I’ve paid for it, I will probably continue to pay for it, but I can see how that price point may be a challenge for some people.
All in all, I’m maintaining a 5-star rating of it due to the value of the application itself. I hope the developers—who probably know much more about their own finances than I ever could—will find enough success to consider a more accessible price moving forward.

Great App! Streaks are demotivating

I personally find the streaks a little disappointing because daily is really hard. But even showing it in a 2D calendar view like github/duolingo would give me so much more motivation and discipline! It actually hurts to be forcefully reminded that I’m on day one. That’s my most difficult obstacle with using the app. Please stop calling it day especially if we’ve been putting in work semi-daily, weekly, etc. Otherwise, I love the animations, cards, save feature, chapters, etc. Amazing app, but no evidence of progress unless I do it EVERY DAY?
I’m gonna miss a few days, but having it show that I’ve done it for 10 days in the last month? That’d be so much better for discipline/motivation than ONLY the disheartening 💔 reset to day 1 streak reminder every day or two.

Unfinished Courses

I really get so sick of seeing other reviewers whine about not being given something for free that someone else worked hard to create! Wading through the reviews of all of these childish losers makes it hard to find genuine and useful criticism that is worth considering before purchasing.
My issue is unfinished content, and I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. I got to day 20 of a 90 day “course” and was actually enjoying it. However, when I reached day 20, I got a message telling me that the content isn’t available yet and offering to notify me when it is!! Are you kidding me? I’m so so so glad I hadn’t subscribed yet and wonder how many other subjects have been thrown up without even being completed. 20 out of 90 isn’t even 1/3 of the content! Shame! Anyway, the content is somewhat watered down, but for a “first thing in the morning” session, it was kind of perfect.

Please add iCloud syncing

I’ve downloaded the app and am using the week trial before I commit to the year long subscription. The app seems to be ‘okay’ so far. With always being on the run and getting things done, I find it difficult to use if you’d like to use different devices. I downloaded the app last night on my iPad Pro. I get it it’s supposed to be used on iPhone, but it worked fine. On my morning walk with my dog I downloaded the app on my phone and tried to pick up where I left off last night and because there was no syncing, I had to search the book and find the page again. After the walk, I decided to sit the back yard and read some articles on my iPad mini. I decided it would be a good time to download the app and try it on the iPad mini. I faced the same issue as my phone. I know these are supposed to be short and sweet but there should be a continue reading section synced on all my devices.
Besides that feature, the content is okay. I’d like to spend more time reading with the week I have and I’ll update as I go. This is day 2 of my trial.

I have not use the app after the 7 days trial and forget about having the app. I did not realize my account get charged until after 60 days. I trial to contact Apple support and also the developer to cancel the remaining months of my subscription. I get push around between Apple and the developer with no solutions. The answer is always you have missed the 60 days to cancel and we can’t help you. I was willing to pay for the 60 days due to my own mistake, but Apple will not refund me for the remaining months that I was not using the app. I don’t even have a valid account to sign in to the app. This is very upsetting and bad practice process. I hope do not happen to others. Beware of when testing out the app.

Poor Free Access

So far I’ve been pretty disappointed with the experience since it seems like the entire app basically needs to be paid for ($100 a year) to be functional. I can only read the brief synopsis of each book without getting into the following chapters so it’s kinda depressing that there isn’t like a free library that I’ve found. Still gonna keep up with it for a bit to see if it catches on but it just doesn’t seem like there’s enough content available for free to last for any considerable amount of time. And a lot of the topics are pretty basic so I have no interest in spending $100 for access to something with very googlable topics. I have no issues with reading through pages of research so the “good for ADHD” component means very little to me when the content is kind of dry

Incredible!!

Do yourself a favor and download this app - seriously!
While the subscription is pricey (currently $99 annual or $15 monthly), it's absolutely worth it. With ADHD, learning is incredibly difficult. I love trying new ways to learn, and have never had as much success as I have with this app. And it was immediate success!! Its very engaging and the topics are interesting and valuable.
One of my favorite parts is that it has accountability built in that will ACTUALLY WORK. You can sign up for courses (mine is 15 min a day for 7 days) and you have to schedule a time do it a day in advance and can auto add to your calendar. If you miss your scheduled time, you lose access to the course and get locked out. The only way back in is to contact the app support team. Talk about motivation!!! No more pushing learning on the back burner because I feel too busy when the reminder pops up - I love it!!

Love the app

Never written a review but I just had to say how much I like this app. Originally had the free trial and forgot to cancel but actually thankful that I did and now have premium. Before imprint, I found myself scrolling on social media way too much and was frustrated that I have such little attention span to learn. So I set a timer on the app and now use the urge to scroll for imprint! This has been such a nice little stepping stone to building healthier habits. It’s not intimidating as I usually get starting big books so I think this will help me narrow down on subjects I want to learn more about!! I really do enjoy the visuals and summaries and hoping there will be a lot more! Def worth the money.

frustrating screen orientation on iPad

I absolutely love what this app does but I can’t believe that in 2023 you can’t allow the screen to reorient on the ipad, which means it’s for iPhone and not for iPad. Many of us do our reading on our iPad but because the app doesn’t allow the screen to re-orient when I use my iPad in the horizontal position like a laptop (which is 100 percent of the time), I have to hold my iPad vertically or prop it up. I find myself deciding not to do my imprint readings at coffee shops, etc. because this is extremely awkward and the iPad gets quite heavy if I have to hold it that way for long and impossible if I’m juggling coffee, etc.
When you make the next update, can’t you please add a genuine ipad version so that I can use it? Seriously, on most iOS development apps, this is literally accomplished by clicking on a checkbox before compiling. As I say, I love the app but if you can’t put out an iPad friendly version then I am going to end my subscription once the freebie week is over. Once that happens, I won’t be back as there are other more iPad friendly options out there. I really would like Imprint the best if it weren’t for this limitation that is basically developer imposed.

Digital Brilliance

I have seen this app for a while but I finally downloaded it days ago. It is definitely one of the best apps I've seen in terms of UI and content. My memory and comprehension abilities have quickly become augmented via this app. The daily quiz ensures that I'm actually learning and understanding what I'm reading, thanks to the utilization of beautiful visuals to enhance the content extracted from various books or courses.
However, the monthly membership is pricey! If you can't afford the yearly membership of $99, you'll end up paying much more on a monthly subscription. Thus I purchased a yearly membership. So far, no regrets!

Help Perspective

I'm not a social media junkie but in todays world yes we need some of the technologies to do our jobs keep up with loved ones etc. But the simple fact is it was called the Boob tube as far back as I can remember! Now we have a Boobtube on our wrists on our computers we literally have these walking talking devices that can go everywhere. We rob ourselves of the simple things n life like nature, being in it, listening to the birds. This is a perfect way to learn different interests and get something back from your time on whatever device your on. I always have said that education is our most powerful tool, any day I can learn something new even a new word of the day is a good day! Being a nurse I know the capabilities our brains can accomplish and it's so far more powerful but we don't even use a fraction of it. I find myself craving time with this app

I’ve always laughed at the “I never write reviews, but…” reviews. Well here’s karma, because it’s my turn. I don’t write many reviews (at all) but I am so happy with Lucid that I had to. The content is first-rate, the visuals and storyboarding work well for my ADHD self, the format is intuitive, the layout clean, the quizzes incredibly helpful, and like one review said… this has replaced my doom-scrolling of social media with valuable learning and growth. I crave this app. And I love it’s iPad friendly, too… makes reading so much more enjoyable. Side note: help is fantastic… I reached out over synching issues and the response was A+ from a genuinely helpful and concerned team. This is a great way to get the key concepts from the most relevant titles of our time… and if one really hits a home-run with you… it’s quite the test drive before you buy the full book. I can’t begin to count how many apps I delete after the trial period, so this is out of my norm… my trial period is up tomorrow… and I’m all-in for the full version. Test Lucid and really dive in… you’ll be glad you did.

Often buggy and frozen, but nice when it works

I would be tolerant of some bugs in a free app, but I’m paying for the subscription and haven’t been able to use the app in a couple days because it’s frozen when I open it. Prior to this, the daily quiz doesn’t always appear and there isn’t a good way to find it in the app. Often, to keep reading a book I started, I have to dig back through my library to find it, because it disappears from the home page.
Many of the book contents are nice ways to get the gist of the idea - kind of like watching a 20 minute synopsis presentation of the book. Lots of popular nonfiction books available. They don’t cover all of the key takeaways you would get if you read the actual book, but if you’re interested there’s a link to the full book at the end of each one in the app.

Excellent content but can use UI/ UX improvements

Thank you team for putting together this wonderful nuggets of lessons and learnings. You have truly made consuming this content fun and more likely for my memory to retain.
I wish to see the following UX improvements if you can:
1. Responsiveness of the app to iPad landscape mode - Why? There is a segment of people who like to read information/ books like how they read a regular book. Also deciding weather to hold the iPad vertically or horizontally is the first decision a user makes and it’s important to not make them revise their decision because the app is not responsive.
2. Ability to save the nuggets offline- I often read when I’m in the plane (like many) when there is no network. It is disappointing that lucid doesn’t download the whole nugget so it’s a wasted opportunity when you can gain some “hrs” from the user on your app
3. Getting to know the person who summarized/ visualized the key ideas- A little intro about the person and the ability to thank them for putting together a wonderful nugget will go a long way in keeping the user value each nugget more and your team appreciated.

My favorite app

I never write reviews, but I just had to come on here and rave about Lucid. I love learning, I’m a creative and very visual person, and also I have ADHD. Lucid is an absolute dream. Lucid communicates such digestible and enjoyable content, I have to remind myself to slow down and let the information I just learned sink in and process before moving onto a new subject! From practical learning to philosophical and everything in between, I absolutely love learning with Lucid. I have already started taking some of what I’ve learned and incorporated it into my work every day and wow, I just can’t say enough good things about this app. If you love learning and have very diverse interests but never enough time to learn about all of them, this is the perfect app for you. Also premium is worth the money if you can swing it. It’s the best subscription I’m paying for right now.

great concept, bad app

concept is great, but lacking very basic things:
1) search button. seriously no search button? 🙂
2) tab with current book that I’m listening or reading. they are many people like me, when you start reading/listing some book but them decided to switch to another one, but still want to continue some time. in progress tab should be different than saved tab in my view, or at least split by two section, “saved for later” and “in progress”.
3) when you started to read book, and later on when you come back, you must continue to read and you cant play it instead? why 😩
4) why can’t I listen and look at the slides at the same time? I find it extremely good when book is playing and in parallel I can look at pictures for visualization. I figured it out how to do it, but this should be in app functionality 😉
5) program extremely extremely laggy, at least on my iphone X, and my ipad pro 2nd generation keeps crushing, maybe it is better on latest devices 🤷🏻‍♂️
if all that fixed, this would be best abstract reading/listing app, and it would definitely worth pay for subscription, for now I’m not sure if I’m going to extend mine, too much hustle

So Far, Excellent!

I’m new to this but what a fabulous idea! I’ve just started Lucid and I’m loving it so far. I’d enjoy a few little videos too - but not too many as I feel it’s important to try and stay focused on reading as these days life is one big distraction and it’s important to learn to focus and stay focused on reading as it helps in so many ways. BUT a few educational, short videos would be great. But this is a really great app. I LOVE the chapter reviews where you get to choose an answer to a hidden word as that really helps cement what I’ve learned. And the chapters are such a fun, bite sized size that they’re super easy to read. Really great!!!

A wonderful alternative to the “mindless scroll”

I am not a fan of any apps except this one, really. When I became depressed last year my first change was to remove social media from my phone and it was a game changer. Screen addiction haunts us all, though, and after a long day we all need some time to unwind. This app allows me to do just that and simultaneously fly through books I wouldn’t have the time or energy to read in their entirety. Instead of feeling crappy about my hour of phone time before bed I actually feel really good about it! I am thrilled these developers put such time and intentionality into solving a very real problem in modern society. I will recommend this to everyone I know!

Best app ever

It is so beneficial to society it’s not even funny, we can grow so much intellectually and so much faster if this app was widely advertised and used among more people! I swear I have never given an app more respect and dedication and I actually set aside time to use this app daily and I have never done that with an app before. I promise it is worth every 100$! Think about how cheap that is relative to what your begging for it?!? It’s insane! Hundreds (I think it is thousands actually but j incase I’m like 50/50 on which one it is) but hundreds to thousands of books that are easily understood I think a 13 year old would get how they explain some of these text. It is so awesome and so worth it!

Useful, but ironic

The app is smooth and responsive. It’s intuitive and yada yada yada. It will make you a smarter and more knowledgeable person for a price. I’ve contemplated this a lot and looked and the statistics and the fact is when education was free, Americans were smarter. You want to take the very thing that’s diminishing our collective IQ and make it a useful tool to educate the masses. I get it but to do that at a price is antithetical to your very mission. You want to make dumb people smarter, dumb people usually have less than everyone else. That’s sort of how it works or has worked until recently. When things were easier and cheaper you could provide it for free. You still can through nonprofit organizations. You could argue that it’s expensive to develop this tech. I’m not arguing that, I’m saying if you want to change the world you have to step up and do it.

weird business model but ok

the cards are just simplistic flowcharts with a sentence beside it. an important sentence, sure. but it basically resembles someone’s notes after reading the book.
here’s my problem: why would i pay for someone’s notes? each book’s lucid thing probably takes like, an hour total to make, not including time reading. the goal of this app is to make education more accessible, i thought, but this app could probably easily sustain itself on a genuine free business model. even if half of the books were unlocked for free you could still make it work with good unlockable features. but no lol. the whole thing is behind a paywall to the point where it’s stupid that this is even listed as a free app.
my suggestion is to NOT pirate books, do not google “free pdf book title” and look around because that’s bad and you shouldn’t do that.

Not awful I suppose

I feel like information was dumbed down to the point that it was either almost incorrect or actually hard to understand. I "read" the first chapter of 3 books and noted that this wasn't for me but, for those with minimal knowledge on said subjects, it might be a useful tool. I'm used to reading textbooks and sifting through tough material so it could just be I'm not used to this kind of setup. I was hoping that it'd be more in depth. However if you have limited background, say for example you're a business person reading the book - astrophysics in a hurry, it might be useful to you in a beginner level. Not really recommended for intermediate+, like say a business person wanting to further knowledge in anything about business.

… All I can say is: WOW!

I’m trying the 7 day free trial and I am blown away so far. SO ENGAGING! I’ve always been the type that learned better with visuals and short bursts of useful information. This nails it!!! My favorite part? I’ll be reading something awesome and I think… gee this would really help this person in my life… AND THEN IT LETS ME SHARE WHAT IM READING WITH SOMEONE EVEN IF THEY DONT HAVE TO APP!!! Literally - SO COOL! Huge fan so far! Keep it up you guys! Add the 10X Rule by Grant Cardone as soon as you can please! Rich dad Poor dad by Robert kiosaki would be good, and The One Thing by Gary Keller!! My only complaint would be the emphasis on social issues and topics that seem to be found in here… can we keep it to the greatest books and ideas of all time please? Let’s keep politics and social issues out of it!!!

Huge fan - for readers who don’t always remember

I love reading and learning. I’m the type to highlight everything I find interesting so I can remember...but still struggle to remember all the valuable information I read. Lucid is SUCH a brilliant app - helps you spend time on key book concepts in a visual way, so you have more chances of remembering what you learn. There’s also a quick interactive recap / quiz at the end to train your brain and avoid just a passive experience. It made me realize that the key to memory is taking a more active role in your intellectual consumption. Lucid does just that. Thank you, this app seems to be the answer to one of my biggest needs 🙏🙏🙏 Grateful!! Ps. Also UX/UI and graphics are super slick. Hope the team can sustain the production long term!

Very Pleasantly Surprised

I’m one of those “I never write a review” folks. Also, for years have rejected summary / idea distillation platforms out of hand because I had seen them dumb down critical information in ways that are not productive. Lucid, IMO, is a game changer in this regard. Thoughtful graphics and focus on discrete (but very clearly connected) ideas makes it a compelling way to both learn new ideas and also decide if you want to invest precious time in a book. The psychology of focusing on discrete information blocks is well known and the app creators/ product team / devs / everyone else involved has 100% killed it. Best App Store money I’ve spent in a very long time!

Painfully Bland

I’m stunned to see all the 4-5 star ratings here. This app wouldn’t be worth a download if it was free and didn’t carry an obnoxious $50/year price tag. Unbelievable. The “visuals” are entirely nonsensical - a perplexing assortment of shapes and arrows combined with a random word out of the one sentence blurb it is meant to illustrate. The only purpose served is to distract you from the juvenile verbal content.
The *vast* array of less than 20 “books” (many of which I’ve read in full) to choose from effectively reduces the content down to a few dozen repetitive one-sentence blurbs knocked down to a first grade reading level. It’s one thing to seek more convenient means of benefiting from reading books, but if something needs to be abbreviated to this degree for you to read it you should frankly just stick to watching cartoons as there is really no hope for your level of laziness.
I know this was harsh - but come on now.. spark-notes and Wikipedia are free and manage to summarize text without viciously assaulting your intelligence.
