I love being able to play chess as the simple game it is always thinking 2-3 moves ahead. The only issue is when you finish a game they put you into another game automatically. Other than that it’s a great game.

Game is actually good. I love the emojis and battle pass. However; the amount of ads in this game is insane, but the ads are not the problem, the problem is that there are so many ads that it freezes the app. Not to mention that theses ads close button are very very tiny. (King’s games Ads) It’s a pain to close them. I have to close and reopen the app 5 times in 20 mins because it will freeze trying to close the ads. Yes I know this is how they make money but Jesus, the amount of fake traffic views for the App Store on theses ads are real. It’s very dishonest and Annoying. Also, there are 2-3 ads that while you playing, it will launch your Internet Browser without you clicking on it taking you off the game and causing issues.

I downloaded the game a few days ago, this might seem a little early for a review but the game is a lot of fun. The lessons are actually useful and proactive. The daily puzzle is intriguing enough on its own. It hasn’t been long but I’ve enjoyed every aspect of the game.

It started well, I was matched with some players for games, of course while waiting for the ads to play out and trying to skip them. Then it got so bad that I got lost in them and couldn’t get out to the main screen to play chess. Had to delete the app.
Developer says they must do ads. Yes, check other apps, how much ads they have. I spend more time on ads than playing. So now you have one less person to force the ads on.

If you just want to play chess, this isn’t the game for you. Before you can play a game you have to navigate through a series of advertisements (long 1 minute plus ads) and pop ups to get you to pay for in app crap. Plan on 5 mins of nonsense before your game starts.
Once it starts, beware of server crashes. The game will freeze and you’ll see a reconnect wheel on top. If your playing a timed game this crash will time you out and you will loose the game. It never reconnects and you end up rebooting the app!

I think this app is great and helpful both for novice and experienced players alike. I get matched immediately, and i enjoy the tutorials and lessons area as well. I know a lot of people hate on the ads, but its not that bad for a FREE GAME that gives so much and has taught me a lot about chess. I love it! I have always been fascinated by Chess. I like games that involve some skill and strategy to win. I like playing online against a computer or a real person. I am an absolute newbie at Chess however. What I find particularly difficult is knowing exactly what a check mate looks like in different scenarios. A king against a king for instance. The app is pretty fun when it works. The issue is it’s glitchy and will freeze occasionally. I’ve lost several matches because the app will freeze so I’m unable to make a move and by the time it unfreezes then I lost the match due to running out of time. I have several other chess apps on my phone and have never ran into this issue before. Now, the game no longer works. When I open the app I get an authorization error. I keep retrying but get the same error. It then gives me an option to start over as a new user. I select that option and am able to play one game and then I get the authorization error once again.

This is a very well made game, but my only problem with it is that it spams adds at you every time you clicked something new. For example, after every daily puzzle I complete I find myself watching a 30 second add just move on with another puzzle. Then, when I want to return to the menu, I’m made to watch another add. I love this app, but I constantly get an error that says “Authorization error” and will not go away. Emailed support on 12/24 and got a response on 12/27 that instructed me to “tap the new user button”. That did not work. I ended up deleting the app and re-downloading it multiple times before it began to work again days later. This has now happened at least 5 times since. Sent emails to support on 1/18 and 1/28 and got no responses. This is extra frustrating because I lose all coins and stats every time, and because I paid to remove ads on an app I constantly cannot use.

I don’t usually go out of my way to review apps but when I finally thought a decent chess app hit the marketplace I was excited. But of course there has to be a catch. This app is CONSTANTLY showing me ads whenever I try to do anything. I can’t even get to the Home Screen without watching some obnoxious ad that takes forever to skip and I’m not going to pay to remove ads so I can enjoy a game of chess. If I switch to a new menu option: watch an ad first. To play a simple blitz game, watch an ad. Just finished a game? Here’s another ad to watch. Enough already. The developers really need to think about their audience when designing these apps because we will get fed up and uninstall it quickly without even giving it a chance. Did I sign up to play chess or watch advertisement videos? The majority of my time spent on this app was watching the ads so don’t expect this app to satisfy your chess needs, you’ll just be wasting your time.

I have had $31 STOLEN from me using this app by making a couple purchases on this app but receiving nothing for the purchases. I have sent 3 complaints so far to the app asking them to either refund the purchases or update my account to include my purchases, but I have not heard anything from them nor have had my account updated. Update: the developer responded to contact support if there’s any issues. I’ve done that before and never heard back, and there’s no way to send a screenshot that way either.
I’ve been enjoying this app, especially the puzzles, which are like little chess tutorials and help prepare you for a game. Unfortunately, there are a lot of mistakes. I’ll choose a move to put the opponent in check mate, the app will tell me it’s wrong (the square turns red, and then the piece jumps back to it’s original position), so I’ll scratch my head a while and finally choose to get a hint. Fairly often, the hint suggests the move the app said was wrong—and I’ve started to take screenshots to confirm it. If you choose to get the hint , you have to sit through advertising—this would be ok except the glitches seem to be a way to push excessive advertising. I’m not giving it up, as the puzzles are great, but it is glitchy

This app is amazing for chess players. Has lots of potential but the fun is being ruined by the amount of ads. It’s an ad as soon as you log in and an ad before the game starts and an ad after the game ends…And these ads are up to 30 seconds. Unreal.
I’m deleting and coming to back this app sometime in the future hopefully they’ll be less ads and less pop ups. I just want to play chess I don’t care for silly coins and magic wheels. I don’t want the login to take me into puzzles either followed by an ad after I exit. I would give this app 1 star but the only thing that sort of holds up on this app are the servers. I would give that alone a 4.5/10 star rating. Not the best servers you will see but not horrible.
Fix the ads, fix the pop ups, fix the ads when you accidentally click a pop up and I will surely give this 5 stars.

In 2021 I re-started to play in order to regain more strategies during period before going to sleep. I had to quit the complete Facebook connection in 2018 and after I saw the Queen’s Gambit in Netflix began practice again. Love this third platform better than previous two.

Fun dds are not to disruptive just you have to watch one before and after game. However they give option to skip after a few sec. overall probably the best chess game in app store. Never has any issues. The developers did an excellent job i like that you can add and play friends.

I am writing to make you aware that the last four losses over the last week or so was due to poor internet connection I have been in attack mode and had the advantage in those games I can’t change the time expiration victories they’ve achieved but it needs to be noted When my screen is blocked by a sign that says poor internet connection and I’m not able to make my next move and while I’m waiting for the connection to return I loose due to the game timing out This needs to be fixed

Tbh I like the game and it is really easy to use but I have 3 suggestions/ complains 1. Ads before ever single game is really frustrating like it does force people to pay money to remove it 2) I bought the diamond layout today and it has got a bad design actually and I think if there is an option for different layout and piece color, not a pack together. It would be amazing 3) It takes so much trophies to reach to another city, Like I Literally have to play for 3-4 hours to open a new city and get trophies🤷🏻

Why are cancelled games(due to my opponent’s failure to make the first move within a 30 second time frame) counted as a game. Is this a chess rule or a rule of “chess Royale”? When I win 10 of 10 games, and my win ratio is 100%, I would not expect it to be reduced because my opponent failed to move his first move. When you count my opponent’s failure to make his first move as a game played, then it reduces my win ratio through no fault of my own. Please explain. To repeat my question, is this a “chess Royale” rule or is it a generally accepted rule of the chess community? Gary

Best chess game I’ve played Always a different outcome and openings with real people playing. I like everything except for one minor thing. Sometimes you will get in a match and if the opponent don’t want to play you they just let the time run out before they move and you have to start a different game with a different opponent. They shouldn’t be able to do that And also I noticed that if I am first to move and I do so, the opponent would lose if the timer ran out and that has changed. Now if they do this then they don’t lose They should lose period Other than that the whole app is very good

Hello, I really love playing chess and when the Albert Einstein event came it was amazing, but it was taken away so fast which made the game a bit less fun. Also I would like to tell you that there are a ton of ads in the game which makes it less fun. I would really appreciate if you would make more events and less ads.

Been using this app for over a year! And it’s been fun til recently. Every game you play you watch a short ad, when the game finishes you watch another. Which was fine/tolerable to play free. Lately, most games that get started the opponent doesn’t make a move in the first 30 seconds and it cancels the game, or they just resign without ever making a move. 2 ads for zero gameplay. :(

Game was enjoyable, fun and challenging. I played for hours until today. It had a window pop up asking me to agree for to have access to my personal info and setting to help the game give me better advertisement choices. Seriously I don’t want the advertisements to begin with. It gave no choice to “x” out of it, you either say yes or you can’t play the game . So I deleted it, too bad too because it was challenging.

my friend told me to download this and we played a few matches together, but the next day I opened it to send him an invite and it got stuck on the loading screen. I tried it a few times and even deleted it and redownloaded it but nothing. If it helps im on an Iphone 7. other than that the game seems to work great and is very user friendly.

too many advertisements.
even if you pay for no ads, as soon as you open the app, you are hit with 3 advertisements. EVERY SINGLE TIME, sometimes 4 back to back.
ads are: spins the wheel, connect on facebook, buy the coins in your safe, allow us to track you, etc.
you habe to close out each time you start the app. and they position them so when you try to click continue, the advertisement appears on top and forces you to “apin the wheel” and you have to pay coins or watch a video.
stay away from this app, there are far better chess apps out there.
also 90% you are playing bots, not humans. the developers will say you are playing humans 90% of the time, but it’s actually bots.

This game is unplayable for bullet/blitz players. Very fun idea for a chess app but the lag is unbearable. In games of 3 minutes, losing 30+ seconds due to uncontrollable lag and freezing is the most frustrating way of losing. I’ve been flagged at least 5 games with completely winning positions and quite frankly the reason there are probably so few players is because of this. Please fix your game if you want it to thrive. It has the potential to be one of the best introductory chess apps on the market and I’m sure we all just want to see it do well.

I understand that some matches have to be filled with computers and not every game can be matched with real players, but the issue i have is every bot always takes 30 seconds plus on every single move. The bot can literally calculate in milliseconds, there’s no need for the bot to take more time then humans do the make their moves. They also play the same exact opening every time so i’ve played the same exact game around 10-15 times and each time the bot takes up to 30 seconds for each move.

I haven’t played in years, so I remember where all the pieces move, but forget any strategy. Playing vs the computer on level 1 is as easy as putting square pegs in a square hole. Playing level 2, I was just check mated in 5 moves. I’ve played level 2 probably 20-30 times and it’s extremely difficult. I’ve yet to even come close to winning. Since there are 10 levels of difficulty to play against, there needs to be a smaller difference between idiotic ease and getting crushed.

This app was referred to me by a friend after playing on other apps with me. I was apprehensive about trying another app. I was initially frustrated but after navigating through it I began to really like it until recently. I’ve lost several games because the game would freeze while it was my turn to make a move forcing me to close the app. When I would return to play I have losses in the archive from games I wasn’t able to complete. Also while waiting for my opponent to load the game crashes and when I log back in the amount of coins it took to play that opponent is deducted from my bank. Lately I can’t even watch the short videos to earn coins or other items available, the game just continues to load and then finally crashes. I really liked this app but considering going back to the other apps that I am displeased with. I may have to wait days for opponents to make a move but at least I’m not being frustrated from the app crashing, loosing coins to no fault of my own, loosing games that I haven’t had a chance to play and the constant loading to no avail.

Love playing chess on this app. I like the world rankings but what I’d really like to know is how many people are actually ranked so I really know where I stand? I just got to level of international grandmaster but not really sure if that’s good or not.
If my ranking is number 1,000 and there are 2,000 players that’s not a big deal. But if there are 100,000 players worldwide then that is a big deal because now I’m in the TOP 1%. How do I see the number of chess players worldwide actually ranked? Thank you...LOVE THE APP!!!

Fun to play other humans on this app and not super human grandmaster bots.. also they have interesting puzzles ,but like others have mentioned there are multiple solutions to the puzzles most of the time and it can be frustrating when the computer refuses the answer even when you know for a fact that you have answered correctly

Although some of the games are good, I’m constantly being matched with players on a lower level than myself and also players who either wait until the last second to make a move in a blitz game which drags the game on forever for no other reason than a miss match game. I’ve lost majority of my games by falling asleep waiting for opponents to make the most obvious of moves or when I go to check my opponents “stats”, my time runs out because the game won’t load in time. Loading time, and the unwanted pesty ads make this game not fun to play on this app. I enjoy the rare games when I’m faced with a challenging opponent, and even if I lose I’m enjoying playing chess with someone on my level or better than me. Change the glitches with the game, less ads, or none at all, faster gameplay and consistent gameplay, both players record’s and stats viewable whenever needed. A way to pause in the middle of the game is a great addition.

I like the game a lot except for a few things, I find that the majority of folks I’m playing are real not computers. When I’m doing puzzles I always find multiple solutions to the same puzzle, it’s awfully frustrating screwing up the puzzle because your checkmate isn’t the same as the checkmate they wanted. Instructions would be great too, such as mate in two, or gain advantage in two.
Also y’all need to get rid of the draft kings scratch off ad, it is off center and I often have a hard time exiting out so I can start the game I just paid gold for.
Other than that great concept and execution!

It is a nice game. However, advertisements are too often and too long; they also got often frozen that forced me to turn off the game to be able to continue. I have solved 233 puzzles so far; it was more like watching (exact same) advertisements only with short puzzle breaks, rather than puzzles with short ads breaks.. It also has no help button to explain how points, coins or records are recorded. Some players have decent record points, despite having played less games with less wins and less puzzles or storm solved than me. Yet I still have zero points on records after 233 puzzles, some wins (one win was not even noted) and 12 storm record. How this is possible? It is another glitch? It does not make sense...

First off I want to express my true feelings of this application. I have been playing consistently for a few months on this app. I lost approximately 20 games because of how slow the app is and the connection issues. For that reason I stopped using it until the new update came out. It gotten much better. However, I have played two games recently, one of which was just mins before writing this review. The game was extremely slow and it took time for the pieces to move. Anyways, when I finally checkmated my opponent the stupid app said “ oops something went wrong :( “ AFTER I WON. NOT THE FIRST TIME my rating was unfairly judged by this app. Download a different one if you don’t want to get frustrated.

After waiting for a online chess match, you will get assigned to random player, it looks for real at first but after playing only vs online “human” players with about 20 matches during the day, I noticed the same opening, same exact stupid mistakes like “horse takes pawn and pawn takes horse.” And after each mistake the computer generates an emoji responding to you to simulate an actual person sending an emoji during certain moves on the chess board.
I’m sorry developers for saying this, you have a great concept to this development and get some pocket money here and there which is all good, but for those who are seeking to play against honest opponents in an online room, this app is not for you. You will get assigned to a bot if there is no available player to play against and 9/10 times you are usually playing a bot.

Chess is possibly the best game in the world. this app is a decent representation. The in app commercials have in like many apps a repetitive feeling however not so much to say it’s not fun. I have been playing most of my life and enjoy the random range of players this allows. I may play a beginner to start then a grandmaster next. One thing about this particular app is that it allows you to speak to your rival via short phrase allowing communication. I may even purchase the annual pass.

People are sore losers and when they are losing they let the time run out intentionally. There needs to be a way to prevent this because not only does the person who would end up losing gain less trophies it’s just a waste of time. I’m not sure about the trophy loss but for time expirations there should be some type of consequence is all I am suggesting. I don’t normally give reviews but this is just something that bugs me personally.

The is a really fun, easy to navigate chess app. When it comes to user friendly chess apps this one seems to take the crown. However, there’s a horrible side to this app. Your service quality doesn’t seem to matter all that much because the app constantly freezes & glitches. This wouldn’t be an issue if the game clock paused or would freeze but it doesn’t. You could be in the middle of a really good game then boom, the clock will freeze, you won’t be able to make a move, and by the time you can there’s either 5 seconds on your clock left or you’ve lost due to not making a play.

This game is very fun but it has a lot of bugs.. it keeps freezing and showing blank screen when it’s matchmaking with others..if you close the app and try to get back in, it gives you million types of promotions and you have to exit out of it.. by the time you do all that your time is up and you lose the match... I lost a lot of coins and my rating went down significantly because the app won’t work properly. Unless they fix all the bugs in the game it’s going to be very frustrating to play.. that is why I’m giving it 3 stars because if all the bugs otherwise id give 5 stars..

It is so frustrating when you keep having ads. The games continues let disconnects and freezes. Checked my WiFi and phone several time to see if they were the problem but it turns out to be the game. I really enjoy playing chess but to just have the app stop working and interrupting the game several times it not okay. It takes my coins away and declares defeat because “I couldn’t make a move within a minute”. There is a option when you can continue but due to the 5 pop ups and ads you cannot log back in time to make your move!! My advice unless you want to pay to make this app work right DONT DOWNLOAD!!

I enjoy the game of chess and I love chess puzzles, which is why I downloaded the game in the first place.
I have 2 major problems with the puzzles on this app though
1. I hate how it automatically gives a hint and tells you how to win when you get it wrong... I mean whats the point in having hints to use if you just get a hint when you fail, where is the challenge?
2. There are multiple ways to checkmate in the puzzle... for instance, why do I have to put the queen on b8 instead of b7 if both are checkmate and achieve the desired result...
solution to problem number 1 is just stop giving hints automatically, or give the user the option to receive or not receive the hint until they press the hint button
solution to problem number 2 is instead of saying put piece on this square, say checkmate the king in 1...2...3...n moves. I mean I get it’s not as simple as that, but use a good chess ai, so the only way to checkmate the king is to do the puzzle correctly. BUT dont make me lose a heart when i put a queen on b7 instead of b8 and both squares result in checkmate!

The idea to have different “leagues” that people can queue into as well as a battle pass to reward and incentivize play is really cool, but after getting around 350 trophies I started running into this issue where the game will lag out and say “check your internet connection” and it will count it as a loss even if I haven’t queued into a game!!!

The puzzles are limited and you are forced to complete them their way despite there being quicker mates AND they rely on the opponent making poor decisions. On several occasions Im forced to decide of several different moves and lose lives because the move they suggest will only lead to mate if the computer makes on specific move there is no way to predict. It is different if the opponent has no choice but to make a specific move. Another when it’s left to chance. How can you devise a 2 move mate with multiple opponent moves?? Also why can’t the game specify: mate black in 3. Or mate in 2. Etc.

Either the game is not PvP or every single opponent I face coincidentally makes the same exact moves (Highly highly unlikely). I like to open with E4 and 95% of my games when white (which happens way more than 50% of the time) goes as follows: 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qf5 4. d4 Nf6 5. Bd3 Qa5 6. Nf3 Nc6 7. Bg5 Nxd4 ...
The remaining 5% of games that do not follow this path all make the move Qxf2 on their 5th move. Every single time. I’ve played roughly 30-40 games that played out this way exactly (one of the two scenarios) . I doubt this is a coincidence and it wouldn’t be as much of a problem for me if I was selecting the PvC version but it was during PvP game modes. Seems to me like they went through a lot of trouble to make a PvC game mode look like a PvP

Okay for a quick game of non serious chess. You cannot review your games, mistakes or wins. The board is small so misclicks happen. When the ads try loading and you are in the middle of the game, sometimes you timeout and lose. Chess moves don’t take much bandwidth this is 100% on the bottom ads. Most annoying if you are trying to play in a quiet place with your phone on silent the developers allow the ads to blast at full volume even if your phone is on silent. You must manually turn down your volume before playing. Game Modes seem to come and go for some reason.

I enjoy the game, But it cheats me very often. One game I played, was declared a draw, my opponent was one move from checkmate and his time ran out? I really like the game, But it is very disheartening To be cheated, repeatedly. The last game I “played” was awarded a defeat, I was never able to move a piece? That isn’t a defeat. The squares on the board are also far too small, during many games my piece goes to an adjacent square, instead of where intended. Excellent format and game, perfect if these flaws were somehow corrected. 2\11\2020 three defeats before I even moved, wouldn’t allow me to move, serious issues with the game.

I enjoy this version of chess! It’s a very well developed app only thing is when I look at the leader board I only see my my name and rank on the screen. Also for the blitz game the minute is far too long for a game called “blitz” maybe take it down to 45-30 seconds but other than that no hate on this app 10/10
