The future is here!

Today we took our first two Waymo rides; my wife was terrified, I was loving every minute.
Both rides were with incredibly smooth, incredibly graceful turns and passenger -sensitive awareness, but there were quirks for sure. I loved the fact that the car stopped when two ducks suddenly appeared crossing the road😆
As a two time Tesla owner who has more than once been terrified by overreliance on technology, I am immensely appreciative of Waymo efforts to err on the side of caution and to ensure that safety is first. I felt very safe tonight and I look forward to using Waymo on a regular basis!👍🏻👍🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

False advertising

Waymo says they’re into San Jose, but that’s barely true. They literally go into just the edge of San Jose and the vast majority of the city is “outside the area”. Don’t advertise you service San Jose with Waymo if you barely touch the city, overall.

Cool, but annoying to use

Whenever I was staying in San Francisco, I was at the courtyard by Marriott at union square. It kept dropping us off in the other side of the road, not in the parking spot, but halfway in the parking spot so we get off in the middle of the road. Also it kept changing the pick up spot so we had to keep walking but that might have just been circumstances.

Welcome to the future

My wife is VERY anxious in the car. Her best friend from high school died in a drunk driving accident. She grips the door for dear life at the sign of any traffic in any regular vehicle regardless of the driver.
In a Waymo, she is completely at ease. No distracted/emotional/tired driver trying to pay attention. We pick our own music and have all the leg room we want. The number one priority is safety, which is completely aligned with our transportation values.
The future of transportation is here. 10/10. Please bring to Chicago ASAP!

Surprisingly smooth and super user-friendly

Our first ride had a small hiccup when we got stuck behind a trolley and there was a little confusion about how the car would get around it. But customer support was incredibly easy to reach and helped get things moving again right away. After that, the ride was completely smooth. The whole experience feels very safe, and the app and process are honestly so user-friendly. I’m kind of obsessed with how easy everything is. Would absolutely use it again. The Future of Ride Hailing

I have been using Waymo for a couple of years now, since it was invite only in San Francisco, and I can confidently say this will absolutely replace Uber, Lyft, taxis, etc. It beats other ride hailing services in every way, you can control the music, the heat, the space of the seat, all without needing to talk to a driver. And women I’ve talked to about it love it because there isn’t any chance of getting harassed by a creepy driver, it makes them feel safe which is one of the biggest issues for women regarding other ride sharing services. And as for the safety of self driving cars, I honestly trust a Waymo more than the average Uber driver. It eliminates the chance of a drunk driver, a driver texting or using their phone or being distracted in some other way, overall I feel safer in a Waymo than anyone else driving me. 100% better in every way, it’s just a matter of Waymo getting approved in every city then it will be over for the other apps!

So impressed by the safe navigation

I was drawn in by the driverless aspect of the experience but came out of it extremely impressed by its safe navigation in these city streets!!! As an SF native, I sat in the passenger seat with family in the backseat and was impressed by how calmly Waymo navigated all the joggers, distracted tourists, distracted drivers, emergency vehicles, temp road blocks, and there were several instances in the two legs of our round trip rides where I witnessed the Waymo make good and safe decisions while other human drivers around us made split-second changes, people darted out on the streets, or when other drivers didn’t take into account what was going on up the road. I understand there will always be a risk factor but I am definitely sold on this product and experience based on the safety aspect alone.

Disappointed

I’m extremely disappointed with Waymo and their so-called “innovation.” While they market themselves as the future of transportation, what they’re really doing is taking away jobs from hardworking taxi and rideshare drivers who rely on that income to support their families. Not everyone has the luxury of transitioning into tech — some people depend on driving jobs to survive.
This push for fully autonomous taxis feels less like progress and more like corporate greed disguised as advancement. Instead of investing in communities and creating opportunities, they’re replacing people with machines. It’s frustrating to see technology prioritized over livelihoods.
The service itself may be high-tech, but at what social cost? Companies should be thinking about the real-world impact of their decisions, not just profits and headlines.
Very disappointed with the direction this is going

App randomly decided I'm not in a service area

I used the app a couple times, and the service was good. Now it just tells me I'm not in a service area, even though I am, and there's no option to even select a service area manually.
Best I can tell, Comcast made some upgrades, assigned a different IP, and now Google doesn't know where I am, so it assumes I'm not in a service area. How about offering a freakin' popup menu?
Great job, guys. Guess I'll just use Lyft, especially after reading some of the less favorable reviews here — which line up with the experiences I had. Except in my case the little glitches and weirdness with the autonomous service didn't result in any serious problems, just chasing a car maybe 50 feet from the selected pickup location and then inexplicably driving in a circle around the parking lot before leaving. But reading that they'll just dump you off wherever if something goes wrong is pretty worrying.

Safety, Calm, and Dignity Matter

I’m a disabled veteran, and Waymo has genuinely changed how I move through the city. The ride is smooth, predictable, and calm—no pressure, no small talk, no uncertainty. That matters more than people realize when you’re managing chronic pain, anxiety, or hyper-vigilance.
Waymo feels engineered for trust: clear routing, consistent behavior, and a sense of control that’s rare in transportation. For veterans and others who value safety, autonomy, and peace of mind, this isn’t just a tech product—it’s real accessibility. Thank you for building something that respects nervous systems, not just destinations.

My first experience

This was an experience iand adventure that I was quite nervous about at first, and I was quickly set to ease when the car picked me up, fairly close by the pick up location. The car avoided fire, hydrants and pedestrians and parked in the safest possible location. It gave me detailed directions on my phone. What to do how to get inside the vehicle. I was greeted by my name, which was a very nice touch. I enjoyed the detailed screen that showed the route the other cars close by and what to expect that. My instructor, Kevin was very professional and proficient , and knowledgeable and explained everything to me. made the experience even better. He was very knowledgeable and was Able to answer all my questions. At the final destination, it dropped us back off exactly at the entrance where I was wanting to be with a very short walk. The overall experience was exceptionally amazing, and I am looking forward to using this in my area as often as I can. This experience took all the stresses of the crazy drivers around me off of my shoulder and took it all on itself and handled it more professional than some humans that I know I had unfortunate pleasure of driving with on the road, but this experience by far was exceptionally amazing..

Thoughtful Design Meets Real-World Comfort

I’ve taken Waymo many times, but this ride really stood out. I was being picked up after leaving the ER, and the experience felt calm, safe, and genuinely reassuring. Even though I had to walk a short distance to the pickup point, the car was already there waiting.
The ride itself was incredibly smooth. The vehicle felt spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, which helped me relax after a stressful day. People nearby even commented on how cool the car looked and asked if I ride often — I do, and experiences like this are why.
Waymo feels dependable and future-forward while still being very human. My only wish is support for Apple Music. Otherwise, an excellent experience all around.

Not ready for prime time

It’s neat but costs about the same as Uber/Lyft. We took a ride to the airport which should have taken about 15 minutes. This particular Waymo wouldn’t use the freeways and went local the entire way, taking 45 minutes. We reached out to support and this is their reply - “I apologize if the car took a long route. Unfortunately, our routes for freeway was still on roll out. This means that there are limited trips that can go on a freeway.” Not helpful and almost caused us to miss our flight.
Additionally, the car would stay in the slow lane following a transit bus for miles then randomly switch lanes for no reason. Felt a bit confused.
My seat belt constantly tightened and would not loosen at all. Uncomfortable all the way around.

Why was my car reassigned

I normally love Waymo. I’ve taken well over a hundred rides with Waymo, and most of the time, it’s great. But this is now the second time I’ve had a car just minutes away, literally right down the street, only for it to be suddenly reassigned to another one much farther away without any explanation. No warning. Just extra wait time out of nowhere. The app goes from “your car is 2 minutes away” to “just kidding, here’s another 15-minute wait” with zero context. And that’s a lot when someone’s trying to get to work on time.
I’m still giving four stars because I generally trust and prefer Waymo over other rideshares. But if this keeps happening, that trust will start to slip. Hope it’s just a rare hiccup and not the start of a new pattern.

Love it and great customer support

I’ve been using Waymo for a while and I’ve been loving the experience with smooth and personalized experience. Yesterday I left my phone on the car and immediately panicked and call customer support. They assured me that they’ll send the car to a hub and help me find my item there. Soon after, they informed me my phone was found and I was immediately able to retrieve my item without any stress. It was guarded in a locker so I was able to pick it up easily even late at night. Waymo has been doing great and I’m so excited to see what’s more to come

Do Not Use Waymo

Where can I begin. I started using Waymo after my truck broke down and I was in between vehicles. The most common issue I faced was the late arrival of my ride. It had happened a couple of times during some weekends but I didn’t mind because I wasn’t in a hurry; however, between the first week of September - my rides were considerably late (often by 15-20 minutes) even when scheduling them. It became a major issue when I was consistently late to work that week by about 20 minutes on average. After reporting it the first time, I almost felt as though they were punishing me for reporting the issue as it kept reoccurring after exhausting the “solutions” provided by their support team. I also encountered several rides in which the vehicle would loop in a circle for no apparent reason. If you need a ride service, I would never recommend Waymo - you are far better off using Uber or Lyft.

I would pay anything to have a Waymo as my full time vehicle and personal chauffeur!

I was sceptical when I saw these things driving around Downtown without an actual driver in the car. I did singer research and these jaguar SUVs are not only a smooth a comfortable ride, but they handle perfectly while avoiding all the obstacles and padrstrisns that are scattered all over the streets of downtown. They also handle flawlessly through the tight residential streets of Silver Lake. Waymo has been quick to pick me up, I was able to catch up on work or messagaes on my b phone or just relax to some slow music or rock out to my favorite songs. Waymo, will you let me buy one as my personal chauffeur?! I love this mode of transportation, it surpasses everything else!

Waymo has saved my life

It has changed me as a person and has let me be myself and let me play the music I wanna play I am I wish the company can have more options than playing your own music which is you have more distance to go anywhere you want instead of just going around the same areas I wanna go more extended towards more areas and more places like Glendale, Peoria and stuff I don’t mind paying the extra couple dollars but if I get the membership, hopefully things are paid off for every time. I’m trying to have a good time. I just wanna have a very much of a easy time.

UI done right

I've tried several ride sharing applications, this one has the best user interface. It's responsive, easy to navigate, and stylish with just enough images and the right amount of text. The buttons on the bottom of the application are not only responsive but easy to understand with both a visual pictures and text below it. You only need the first two buttons "my trip" and "my car" the first to set your pick up and drop off location and to sync your music service app so you can jam on the way there. The second "my car" to set settings for your trip. Do you want AC? How cold and at what speed? You can even dive into the audio settings and add some bass to your music! I thought that part was pretty cool. The other buttons "feedback" and "support". Are there to reach out to Waymo just in case which was reassuring. The final button "account" is to setup payment, input promo codes and view your ride history + set standard preferences for future pick ups. This review is strictly based on the application. Despite having a little hiccup during my ride I still rate this app a well deserved 5 stars.

So easy to use

Easy to use, prices fluctuate based on car availability & pick up location. I accidentally left an item behind on the passenger side and it alerted me from outside the car through a speaker that I left an item!!
The app is easy to use and quick!
What I didn’t appreciate is that it changed pick up destination once it “arrived”. It was maybe 200ft away and it started the timer and it freaked me out.
I made it just fine, but if someone elderly or had a disability were to encounter the same surprise, I’m sure it’d be difficult to make it on time.

How Waymo Trick You With a $5 Credit

The situation is as follows: whenever something goes wrong, they always say they will “compensate” me with five dollars. But here’s the funny part—today I was sitting with friends, and we decided to order a taxi. By chance, we noticed that the price shown in my app was five dollars higher than what my friend saw. After checking side by side, it turned out that with the so-called five-dollar discount, the final price in my app was the same ( some cents difference) as the regular price my friend had.
In other words, they aren’t really giving me any compensation. They’re just creating the illusion that they care, when in fact they’re simply building that “discount” into the next ride’s price. The result is that I end up paying exactly the same as everyone else. It’s pretty awful that a company chooses to run its business this way.

Why I always use WeMo every time I go to Phoenix.

One time a few months back I was at the Phoenix airport and I was waiting for my Uber. It was over 20 minutes to get an Uber. I kept seeing all these way. I was driving around thinking to myself. This is probably ridiculous. Ridiculously expensive. I didn’t take any more of it on my next trip back. I decided to try one out ever since then which was middle of March. I’ve been using WeMo nonstop every month. They are reliable. Convenient and and usually at the same price point or less to the other rideshare companies. I wish they had way in Chicago and everywhere else.

Great, if it works

Updated review - getting worse: same weaknesses and now losing its biggest strengths
Old issues: Waymo has issues with weird drop off/pickups and occasionally getting stuck in non-standard traffic situations (loading vans, large number of pedestrians, etc…)
New issues: pickup times are all over the place now. A huge advantage used to be that its estimated drop off when you ordered was actually accurate, unlike uber/Lyft. Now it’s just as bad and will often say “1 minute away”, but when you book it’s 20 minutes away. Conversely, if you book one when it says 15 minutes away and want that wait time to finish up things before the commute, it will sometimes randomly reassign you a new car mid wait and cut the time.

Definitely was a little puzzled and had to look up about the cars and get a little more backstory. All in all we wound up using Waymo the rest of the time when we needed to travel a little more long distance. It’s efficient, easy and you don’t have to be uncomfortable while in the car feeling like you can’t talk or be your normal self. It was so great for my husband and I to just relax and get chauffeured around. You do have to hunt your car down sometimes but it’s not very far. You just have to have a basic sense of direction. I like that you can also make stops easily. Wow!

Horrible customer service

Last night I was able to get in the wrong car, it then took me to the wrong location. After speaking with 4 different support representatives that all asked me the same questions, nothing was resolved. I was still in the wrong location, with no explanation and absolutely no accountability from anyone. I was then instructed to call another ride, and spend more money, on something that didn’t work at all. I immediately called an uber and was baffled with the level of disrespect I was treated with from this company. There was never any support, it was strictly information gathering. At one point I had to get out of the car and read the license plate number to a support rep? Safe to say this will be the last time I ever use this service. Also, whoever the representatives of your company are, were easily some of the most unprofessional people I’ve ever encountered.

August 15, 2025 ride at 1:59 PM to 50 Oak St.

The customer service was great. I appreciated that somebody’s there on standby at all times that makes the customer feel safer.
I’m also grateful that the support person sent me an email to request a collaboration with peeps going to Burning Man. Feel free to come to the event tomorrow. I’ll send you the info so you can come, but I’ll do it after you respond to this email or if you tell me you’re interested!
Other comments
Would we please be able to fix the light above the backseat can turn off when there isn’t a child there or the other factors do not apply. The Waymo Support person and/or I did mention that it may have came on when the Waymo Support was called.
Also note: we did not end the trip at 50 Oak Street because there was a vehicle (unknown to me) that was having difficulties moving, so we went over in a different direction, and I went by them not realizing that I could actually hit the pull over and stop to help them. I think the support person was concerned because she thought I opened the door when I actually opened the window. When I told her, she understood, and later on she dropped me off down the street, so I walked to 50 Oak. I will say this, I do thank you because I noticed that you added a promotional discount to my ride!
Thank you again!
I hope to hear from you soon. I’ll order another ride in a second, lol.

A Tip of my hat

I was born in 1966 and I'd like to think I am comfortable with technology, but that was both exciting and exhilarating. I know it's a stretch for anyone to trust or release control to not just another person but to that next level of automation. I tip my hat to the army of engineers and testers that took this Waymo from inception to Fruition As a visitor from Denver to Santa Monica, I question how it will go with the snow and some of the challenges we have in the Midwest. But holy cow, did you guys hit a home run and will undoubtedly identify and solve for the exceptions as your vision expands! I love the vehicle, the space the instructions. I'm in aw of the end upon endless hours it took you to bring this to reality. I wish you were here with us right now because I would love to spoil you with a soda pop or cocktail of your choice in celebration! you are genius, visionary, Rockstars. , You're collaboration is life changing technology. You My friends have and will make a difference in this world and I wish I could say that to you in person.
I love what you have done and I hope you have celebrated every day since launch because you deserve it with award winning recognition. Way to push the human race, our country, and your business forward.

Wonderful, safe, magical experience.

Riding in a Waymo is a much safer and much more relaxing experience than taking a Lyft or an Uber. No one in the car but you and your friends. Put on your own music, watch a tv show, or get some work done on your laptop. No awkward conversations, no worrying about the driver’s ability or the car’s road worthiness. I am looking forward to the day when they go everywhere so I don’t have to own a car anymore. Until then, I’ll enjoy it within their service areas and be grateful for the privilege.
It’s human nature to fear what we don’t understand, but Waymo’s safety record speaks for itself. As someone who has taken hundreds of Uber and Lyft rides and logged hundreds of thousands of hours driving myself around, I’ve had my share of creepy/scary experiences. I’m convinced that taking as many humans as possible out of the equation is the only answer for making the roads truly safe, and Waymo’s state-of-the-art LiDAR technology coupled with their excellent, stable software tuned over almost two decades makes it far safer and more knowledgeable than even the most competent human.
Avoid it at your own peril — again, statistically you’re actually taking far more of a risk on the road in any OTHER car!

Had some trepidation at first

I was a but uncertain when i triad it. A car with no driver is a bit concerning. But. The way some of the drivers on the roads these day. They are £<##€! Crazy. They have no situational awareness. No commonsense behind the wheel. No concept of road ilea or courtesy. They scare the ¥><%£ of me. And some taxi or uber drivers don’t know what a shower and a bar soap of some deodorant are for
Nice to have a driver that doesn’t stink me out of the car or try to lill me.
I can see this idea take of. I would like to see it expand once they work all of the bugs and any safety issues

Sixth or seventh ride

Absolutely phenomenal 🔥 from the first ride to now I’ve noticed small improvements to an already amazing experience. Waymo’s driving is SO much safer than any ride hailing service. The cars “see” everything and anticipate human error by pedestrians, cyclists, scooters, and drivers …and patiently yield to the safest path forward. Amazingly, the cars sense when it’s ok to “go around”. I own a rival EV with FSD and Waymo’s LiDar is simply light-years ahead vs. camera-only technology. Cars are clean, roomy (in the back), and easy to operate (windows, sounds, start/stop). Waymo is now my default and exclusive choice whenever I need a ride. Absolutely phenomenal.

67 and living the dream

This was my bucket list item that I wanted to do this year. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will most definitely be doing it again and if I lived in Scottsdale or someplace that had this ability, I wouldn’t even own a car. The trip cost me about eight bucks and some change. I could’ve taken three people in the vehicle with me. Had a great lunch a very smooth drive. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. I only wish that they encompass all of Mesa instead of just the downtown area because if they did, I would not even own a vehicle out here. As cheap as it is, it doesn’t pay to pay a car payment, insurance or maintenance. Thank you to whoever invented this wonderful machine and gave me this wonderful experience, I will never forget it every time I see one drive by.

Exactly what cabs should be in 2025

So many things went perfectly it’s hard to give them all appreciation until the ride is already over. Obviously the ride was safe, but the car sees and shows you everything on its digital map. It could see over and beyond cars, trees, pedestrians. It was showing me in detail cars 9 cars ahead of us, and 2 cars over from there, as well as oncoming cars that were 40 yards away, turn signals of every car and pedestrians standing on corners. We even had a J walker that the Waymo was fully prepared to stop for but ultimately didn’t have to. Bonus luxuries include exceptionally smooth drive, without being overly cautious / slow. Truly felt like a competent driver, not a new driver fearing its driving exam. It did a better job than I would have. Other bonuses are the comfort of the vehicle, the temperature inside, and even the music. Very impressed, excited for the future my kids will find ordinary.

It’s good to have competition

I’ve used the service four times so far and as long as I plan ahead I get more than a good value and a safe ride.
Be aware of your pick up points, area covered and drop off location. For airport runs drop off is just like the other services.
Also remember you can ask the Waymo to stop at any time. I mention this when we were to be dropped at a very crowded car show and the car was going to try stopping in a location already blocked by the show presenters. You common sense people.

Unreliable, poor support and too expensive

It was my second time taking the waymo. The car picked me up at the mall,
After 1 minutes it stoped driving behind the traffic light in the middle of the road and asked me to get out of the car. Without getting me even close to my destination. I called customer support to see if I can stay in the car until I reserve the new car. Since I find it dangerous to get out of the car in the middle of the road. But she said the car is reserved for the next person, so I have to get out. Also when I asked them for the refund of my charge she said she did not have access to my account and can’t do anything.
After the incident, I called customer support several times and no one picked up the phone.
Overall I found the WAYMO car pretty unreliable and unsafe with a poor customer service, and too expensive. They charge the same price as other apps like Uber and Lift that also pays driver as well.

Big time Waymo Fan!

I live in Los Angeles, and commuting sometimes gets tricky with an over-saturation on other transportation apps. I love using Waymo for the hassle-free ride coordination. Sometimes, it can be a bit annoying because you will need to walk to your pickup destination if you live outside of Waymo’s zone of use. Right now I live in the Hollywood hills so I need to walk a bit. Other than that, it’s a wonderful concept and I love being able to be alone in a car, and sing my heart out to wicked songs. lol! I love Waymo, and will continue to be a big time supporter. Sometimes I ride 4-5 times a day, and I trust this little self driving jaguar with all my heart. ❤️

Artificially Ignorant

Just tried this service for the first time, here’s what happened. The car arrived NOT at my designated residential address (with no advance warning), but a block and half away. Meaning that I had to walk to hunt it down. Trouble is, I have an injured knee, meaning that the 4 minute deadline it gave me was a race against the clock. So I painfully limp all the way to the vehicle with only one second to spare, just to have it time out, lock the doors, and start to drive away as I’m standing directly next to it. Then it freezes in the middle of the road, blocking traffic with people honking at it, until it finally decides to drive away. THEN they have the nerve to charge me a cancellation fee for my trouble. I angrily called customer service and they hung up on me because I didn’t have the time in that moment to respond to 20 questions. So I ordered an Uber instead, which was “way mo’” effective in getting me where I needed to go. If this company is the future, then our future is even dumber than the present.

Pretty cool for a dangerous problem

Driving is dangerous. Anything can happen. Are you better off with a robot driving? If something goes wrong, could the machine have avoided it? If you figure most accidents are due to human error driving and a machine can avoid all that, how do you feel about machine errors that a human would have avoided? If machines make fewer mistakes, are we better off taking a chance with unknown problems?
My first trip was today. It was a delight and had no such problem. I shuffled the music and didn’t have to tip anyone.

This will change the future of ride-share!

This is my 3rd time visiting Austin, and I finally had the chance to try Waymo self driving out! Both rides I took were very smooth: the car always prioritized pedestrians first, obeyed traffic signs, and drove at the right speed. The cameras are very precise on mapping out everything around it, including cars, pedestrians, signs, buildings, and even cyclists! It was fun to watch people staring at the car in disbelief 😂
Amazing experience, Waymo is a huge step forward in rideshare and will definitely have a big impact on the future. I will definitely use it again!

Not for handicapped people

We have loved using Waymo for the last several months. Rides are so much smoother, cleaner, and safer than with other rideshare companies. We noticed an issue at an event the other week where it was a 10 minute walk to a pickup, but we had time so we did it.
However, as of today, Waymo changed. While it has been able to pick up and drop us off at our home for the last three months without issue over 40+ trips, it now refuses to pick us up or drop us off at home, instead mandating pickup over a block away. One of us is handicapped, and walking takes a long time and is painful. Instead of making the service more accessible for people, Waymo is making it less accessible now by taking away pickup and dropoff locations that it previously offered. It’s crazy that in 2024 an app like this will offer a service that works for handicapped people and then make a conscious decision to make it harder for these customers to use the service. This is not an accessibility-friendly service anymore.

Amazing New Option

I was anxious on my first ride; but twas safe driving; little longer because it takes side streets only. After two attempts and consistent feedback, my 3rd ride today made it successful. My drop off was perfect! Amazing. Loved that I am safe and that wait time to book does not take so long. I loved that the customer service is from PH..wohoo!
I observed that the cars windows are dirty from outside. I am also interested if you can put Praise and Worship songlist. Prayers throughout the ride is needed for safety anyway.
I am a happy rider! You may have found a loyal new customer in me. Thank you, Waymo team

Experience is Trash - Stick with Uber or Lyft

Whatever money you are saving by not tipping is being wasted by the inconvenient pickup and drop off locations and slow driving time. Do not recommend for people in a rush to the airport.
Whatever “wow” feeling you have the first time using this service wears off as soon as your first ride is over.
The whole point of a ride share is the convenience of being picked up and dropped off exactly where you need to be. Instead, the service makes you walk a couple blocks.

Great service.

All the benefits of taking an Uber without human interaction. That may not be for everybody, but it suits me fine. The prices are comparable to other ride share services, if not a little cheaper. The only issue can be wait times, on occasion they’ve been 15 minutes or more. However Waymo is usually able to find a car closer to you in that window.
The cars are luxurious, you can choose from preselected radio stations or play your own music. In my time using Waymo I have never had a bad experience with the driving. The cars drive flawlessly and efficiently. My girlfriend feels safe taking a Waymo home when she’s out late with friends. It’s private, affordable, comfortable, and plain cool to see. I can’t recommend this service enough.

First time rider — won’t be my last

I really enjoyed my first ride with a Waymo car in San Francisco. It was a very relaxing and surreal experience. The car was clean — I had no idea I’d be riding in a Jaguar! It was awesome.
It’s important that you pay attention because the car may have to pick you up a few feet away from your pick up location thanks to all of the cars illegally parked and getting in the way. Just be sure you keep your eyes peeled and use the app to locate the car. Nice ride and can’t wait to see this evolve and move to more cities!!

Waymo drive was smooth and safe.

I have waited a long time to ride in the Waymo. I remember when they had drivers driving them. Well, today was the day I got to do it. It was surreal as a 62 year old that’s seen a lot of changes in the car industry. It felt like a futuristic moment in time that I will be able to tell my grandkids about. My husband and I drove to the Ahwatukee Town Center and left our car just to have this experience. The ride was extremely smooth and then we realized the car was a Jaguar. No wonder. So that was a plus!! The Waymo was very courteous to other drivers and even made a few quick stops when other cars got in our way. At the end of the drive I told Waymo Thanks for the ride (he deserved a pat on the back too ). 😊 P.S. And of course, I loved the fact that I didn’t have to tip!

My first ride and I deleted Lyft app for Waymo

This is my first ride and I am heading to work.
I do love quiet morning. I don’t like to talk at all. This is very smooth ride and very careful when it comes to stopping at the intersection.
I am a introvert. This not give me social anxiety at all. I am not forced to talk to a driver. I did not panic since I am claustrophobic. I love the music when I first sat down. It is vibing the ambient music.
I love how easy to open the door when I am getting in and out.
I love how very clean and impeccable top notch clean the car.
I am very meticulous when it comes to cleanliness.
I say this with confidence with Waymo.
I do love Jaguar cars. It is a plus Waymo drive smoothly than a humans. The haters will hate. I feel more secure and safe with Waymo than a taxi. I’ve been to accident in Taxi and my dad twice they are a reckless drivers out there.
With Waymo I feel safe and almost I fall asleep it is very early morning commute to my work.

Pricing is severely over priced

3 stars for now until they fix these issues. Most time price is more then double compared to Uber and Lyft. Especially when you have to walk to pick up or after your drop off. Will also add to your commute time so be mindful when you have to be somewhere on time. A ride from miracle mile area Los Angeles to 26th and wilshire Santa Monica like 7 miles is $40 plus dollars. Uber and Lyft usually averages $28-$30 most times a little less. When you have a ratings etc with Uber and Lyft you always get 5 star drivers and clean cars. I’ll continue to do that and also tip a real human to help them for less then what this Waymo app is charging.

Terrible experience

This ride was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a self driving vehicle. Cruise was much more accommodating RIP.. we were less than a block away from the first destination when we realize that we left some thing behind, so I added the destination as the first point and the Waymo abruptly stopped and said that we’ve arrived. We then called customer service and they advise us to drive a little further and then re-add the stop we ended up drifting further away, so we decided to head to the second destination. which was a block and a half from the correct point. In addition, the way almost stopped in the middle of the intersection with vehicles passing on our left side. This was not safe. It was very inconvenient to top it off. I was not given a credit for my time and was told that wayis grateful for our feedback as they are improving. We should not be charged for helping the technology improve. I would like my $23 back.

Awesome with some glitches

I love this technology and admire your tenacity for continually developing it to make it better. Today we were picked up near Jackson and Washington in San Francisco at about noon. There was an SF fire department truck at our pick up spot. The Waymo tried to pass it but then froze blocking traffic. It tried to back up and got stuck at right angles blocking both directions. Our trip canceled but we reordered the ride and were pickup a block away a few minutes later. Don’t get discouraged. This is the future and you are making it happen. I am confident that it will continue to improve by leaps and bounds. When I am in the car I feel 100 percent safe and well taken care of.

Joyous ride

I was very empress with the service.
I requested a ride and within minutes, I received notification that my Waymo ride was waiting for me. I look at my app and followed the directions and saw that if I didn’t respond within 5 minutes, my ride will leave. So I press the walking prompt and I found my ride. I continued to read the prompt and I got inside of the car, then off I went. I got in and the car was nicely cleaned and the air conditioning was at a nice temperature.
I fasten my seat belt and sat back and enjoyed the ride while smooth music was playing very lightly. I had a very joyous experience and I truly enjoyed my ride. If you’re one of those folks that want a peaceful ride , this would be great for you.

Dangerous ride

My eight year old niece and I wanted to take a ride just up to the nearest store and back. It took us to the store, but instead of coming back the same way, it took us a few miles in the opposite direction and then once it got on the main street coming back the right direction, it’s stopped in the middle of a 40 mile an hour street. The vehicle behind us almost hit us. Then the car proceeded to go 10 miles an hour for 6 blocks until it reached a red light. We did not know if it was going to stop at the red light because it was obviously malfunctioning. We called customer support while this was happening and they said all they could do is file the report of the complaint. It was absolutely scary not knowing what could possibly happen. This is not a perfect technology. I will never ride with this company again.

1st experience

Our family is in Scottsdale for a spring break excursion, when we witnessed these vehicles moving about and had zero clue as to what they were. Googled it, and found this to be the newest wave in getting places without driving- without ANYONE actually driving. It was an adventure, experience, and something we will never forget. Our children loved it, we loved it, and it was all TOO EASY! We want to now take this again before our trip ends, and were wondering when each vehicle may have its own personalized name and a possible short conversation! EXCITING!!

Okay

It’s okay. I wish I could give this 5 stars cause I love the idea of this, but its new and still needs refined. Some things that I’ve noticed needs work:
There clearly isn’t enough cars yet, I was excited that this could be a cheaper option than lyft or uber yet, it’s almost always double the price.
Wait times are inaccurate, I’ve been quoted wait times then be reconnected to a new car when the car was only a few minutes away cause my wait time to be doubled that originally requested, it’s hard to plan what time to leave when the wait times are inaccurate, then when you go to cancel you’ll get charged a 5$ fee?!
I’m overall still excited and hope it improves over time but these two things are making the rides usability and convenience very hard.

So safe you forget it’s self-driven

The first time you get in a Waymo and click the “Start Ride” button, you feel a bit horrified. The car plays a little safety video and starts driving itself. But after about 30 seconds, all the fear goes away and you completely forget the fact that AI is driving you. And then you quickly lose yourself in the luxurious Jaguar car with music that you have full control over (and don’t need to feel self conscious with a driver listening to it!)
As for the app, it’s well-designed and easy to use. The only problem is on some vehicles the music doesn’t connect to the car. It’d be great if they added AirPlay support to the cars, but I don’t see Google bending over backwards to add Apple technologies to their vehicles.
