Love my watch and the app!

I’m a high school varsity XC runner and I needed a watch that was lightweight, comfortable, and gave me good data. COROS is exactly what I was looking for and provides the data in a very intuitive format

Lacks features

Wish there was a feature that gave you the total amount of training time and total amount of rest time in a workout. When I do a lot of reps I have to manually add the times then divide to get the pace. Garmin connect already has this feature. Also notifications are wack

One main thing missing - trends

I like the app for the watch on a fitness tracking effort. If there was a way to see trends, I’d rate it 5 star. Until then the minor things + that 1 major item I can only give 4. The run breakdown is great, but the workout suggestions are lacking as well. Combining this app and Nike Run Club I’m able to get a good run in.

Good but could improve

Its my first gps watch so maybe my expectations are high but here are some improvements I notice:
1. When I lay in bed on my phone in the morning, it counts this as “light sleep”. I really want to be able to use this as a sleep tracker but there is no phone feedback. Why cant it subtract time I am on my phone in the morning or at night even?
2. Doesn't include weightlifting into recovery calculation. Only useful if you only run or bike.

Software can’t keep up

It’s pretty sad how bad the software is given how good the hardware is. You can’t trim an activity. You can’t change an activity type. You can’t associate activities with equipment (to monitor maintenance or replacement schedules). Can’t really recommend this to people right now, even though I love my Coros watch.

Amazing product

I love the coros pace 3 and fitness app. They provide a great breakdown of the things you need to know in an interesting and digestible format.
Many competitors dont help you make sense of the data or help you to utilize features. Coros does.
In addition Coros provides really useful and noticeable firmware updates that basically upgrade the watch functions and capabilities.
Keep it up Coros!

Old version was better

As others note the older version was better in many ways. Personally I think the new layout and “expanded fields” look blocky and take up too much space. I don’t want a paragraph about how I missed a few runs since I was busy last week (training status description). Most notably to me, I really liked the map overlay with the pace graph that would scroll along the route as you looked at the pace. Small gripe, but it was a feature I used to see where and what may have caused a drop in pace. Wish I could download the pre-update version.

Switching back to Garmin

Accidentally logged a 34 mile bike ride as a run and I can’t change it back. It’s a common mistake so you would think something like this would be so simple to do. I mean if Strava and Garmin can do it then why can’t Coros? Now the app thinks I’m a 2:10 marathoner and all the data is skewed. What a joke. Other than that, the watch tracks fine and the battery is ok for the price of the watch.

“Failed to connect to server”

I typically really like the watch and the app both. I have my Coros app connected to Strava to upload and a few weeks ago, it just stopped working. I started getting an error saying it “failed to upload to server,” so I did the usual restart the phone, then deleted and uploaded the app again, and now it won’t let me log on at all, same error message.

New update buggy

The new update I installed the other day is no longer showing up in the version history (it showed that the app was updated on 12.27.23 for a day then is saying last updated in September). Also the app is giving incorrect best mile times on my runs saying my best mile is under 4:20 with is definitely incorrect.

Most Recent Version of App is a Downgrade

I love my watch for a variety of reasons, the biggest being the battery life because I cannot be bothered to charge my watch every 3 days. That being said, the previous version of this app was way better. As others have said, the ability to swipe between days was lost. Also, unless you use planned workouts and sync them to your watch, the calendar view is basically useless and the previous version of the calendar view was great. It would show you what days you logged an activity, but now the only way to see this information is the list on the Activities tab. The other major issue I have with the new app version is that the training load resets on Mondays, which others have also mentioned as an issue.

You get what you pay for.

Thus far, trash. Watch is small, doesn’t seem durable, and Heart Rate is measured… wait for it… every 10 minutes 😂. No wonder the battery is “good”. BTW, app won’t transfer data from the watch 50% of the time.

Customer support ghosted me

I have been having an issue since getting the watch where the HR stays at 120 for about the first 3-6 minutes of my run. I have tried everything they suggested and when they finally said I would be able to get a warranty replacement they stopped messaging me. I have never had this issue before across apple and Garmin watches and it's disappointing a company I was so optimistic for won't stand behind their product and hasn't gotten back to me in over a week.

Version 3.1.6
2023-09-21

Two things I need for the perfect app...

And I think they'd be very easy to implement and would warrant a 5-star rating from me. 1) Allow more choices in the "Notifications" option besides "Others." Selecting "Others" may give me a five notifications I'd like to receive on my wrist, and 95 notifications I wouldn't. Breaking this down further, similar to how Fitbit or other wearable tech companies do it (selecting apps based on which notifications your phone is receiving), should be simple. 2) Let me set my week begin/end. The week for me goes Sunday to Saturday; for others it's Monday to Sunday. Also something that should be very simple. Thanks!
Edit: After the most recent firmware updates, my Apex 2 Pro battery has been much faster. Still top notch battery life compared to competitors, but it is quite noticeable.

Version 3.1.6

Pretty good with room for improvement

App itself looks great with much better readability and use ability than one for Garmin however it still has room for improvement - training load suggestion gives different range on watch and it the app, no way to link the app to external data sources for example for pulling weight metrics recorded with help or smart scales.

Version 3.1.6

Poor connectivity ruins the experience

I switched from Garmin to Coros and love the Apex 2 Pro watch itself. However, from day one I have had issues getting my watch to connect regularly with the app. I have communicated with Coros support, but they had no solutions and wanted to blame either my phone or my settings. The watch connection simply isn’t consistent and stable. I have to manually reconnect dozens of times every day, simply because I walked away from my phone. The watch should reconnect automatically, but it doesn’t. I have to manually refresh the Coros app 2–3 times after a workout in order for all of the data to transfer. Not all data transfers in a single refresh, which makes no sense. And regularly, activities don’t sync to Strava without multiple refreshes of the app. This simply wasn’t an issue with Garmin. I really want to love the app, and I appreciate all the data it provides for my workouts. But the simple connectivity ruins the whole experience.

Most recent update stinks!! 👎👎

It seems that they made the app easier to look at but they have also removed a lot of Letitia’s to track. The graphs are harder to read and up loads are a little lagging. Everything has been moved so even if the metrics are still there they are hard to find.

Latest update needs improvement

I trust Coros to work out the kinks, but the latest version update is just not useful.
There is no easy way now to track stats (resting heart rate, average heart rate, avg pace, etc) over long periods of time. When it is available, there is no easy way to view these things.
1 Everything is locked to portrait mode now, no landscape mode.
2 When viewing heart rate stats over anything over a day, it shows a range as opposed to an average which makes more sense when viewing over a long period. There is no way to compare daily ranges just by eyeing bars.
Other issues here and there but these are the big ones.

Good app until most recent update!

I was able to beta test the newest update for the app - sent info about several things I thought needed to be addressed, and none of them were fixed before the update was released. Things that need to be fixed:
1) bring back the ability to swipe between days
2) if multiple activities done in one day, they should all show up on the main page, not just the most recent
3) when editing the name of an activity, I can no longer put a space between words. Not a huge deal, but a silly glitch to let go.

Went downhill

This app used to be decent but is terrible since the most recent update, which changed the UI significantly. It’s very glitchy, i.e. will never give me sleep data, and is hard to look at fitness and training load data in a meaningful way. Huge downgrade, if they don’t correct it soon I may consider a different brand.

3.0.12 not as good

I *really* like the watch and the app. But objectively version 3.0.12 in not an improvement.
Seems like the new app try’s to collapse information forcing the use to dig further. Also some information is just missing (or at least I can’t find it).
Any chance you can offer two versions? Probably not realistic but you don’t have to improve the app for improvement sake.

New update 👎

Very difficult/impossible to get data for previous days. Now you are forced to scroll one day at a time to the day you want information for. And that is only for 1 activity at a time (sleep, steps, HR, etc.). New update has made it inconvenient to track any historical trends/data. You can only see today's data conveniently. Will likely be switching to Garmin.

Bring back the previous version!!! :(

You have totally destroyed a great visual interfase the app had for understanding training progres in this last update. I love training with my Coros watch and have been learning from the Evolab tools a lot for over a year. The improvement to the agorythm may be great in this version as you claim, but the user-centred focus is completely gone. I really regret updating the version.

lousy new version interface

watch works fine the new version interface, may 2023, is clunky, it is hard to see your past days, you can only see past days by category, and generally the interface was a substantial downgrade…
the vo2 of course doesn’t work, but you can’t measure what you need to with a watch…
i wouldn’t believe much of the analysis, but if the interface was not so lousy and if instead of complex analysis they just had, eg, trends, it would be helpful.

Bad swim tracking

No issues to speak of as running watch but recently since last update my pace 2 badly tracks distance in the pool. It might be 50m off after 100 meters. It might only say 50m swam after 1/4 mile.
It randomly misreads heart rate in the pool (for a while now) suddenly dropping me from a solid 135 BPM to 110 with no change in effort or measured pace on my part.

Data Policy is a red flag

The app itself does what I want and syncs quickly and reliably. The big issue for me is that the app sends data to servers in China. I block this traffic on my firewall and the app still works. Every day I get an alert that the app is trying to o send data to servers called umeng and COROS, both inside of China and both known to compromise privacy. Plus as a Chinese company, COROS is required to share its data with the government. It’s a big enough deal for me that I will not continue using this app.

Tough as nails!

I left Garmin for a solid reason: cheaply made running watch. I literally killed mine. It couldn’t take my strenuous fun outings. Even though I loved everything else about it, it was just too ridiculously cheaply made for the cost.
I needed a watch that could do multi sports, hike long days while backpacking, and still be wearable day to day!
I have truly enjoyed the long battery life, the band has been amazing & I have not had to replace it. This watch is full of data & keeps me always reaching for better.
I recommend Coros 100%!

Pace 2

It’s pretty great for running. A nice size, good battery life, and things seem accurate enough for me. It’s not good for biking, as most of the data and trends only apply from running efforts and don’t use bike efforts. Also, they’ve updated the sleep mode and it’s pretty terrible now. Sometimes it says I’ve only slept for 2 hours while it’s more like 7, or it thinks I’m still asleep after my mourning routine and driving to work. Could be better but gets the job done for the most part.

Kicked out after update

The app worked okay pre-update. The fitness predictions are only based on running so if you primarily backcountry ski or MTB…or even trail run, most of the fitness predictions aren’t really relevant to you. Not that it matters I suppose. I’m not sure why it isn’t able to predict VO2 and workload from other activities. We’ve had the means to calculate them for years.
Anyway, after the update it kicked me out and now says I’m not registered to even reset my password. So…I guess I just can’t use it anymore. Hoping all my history isn’t lost in there.

Marathon level estimation is very flawed.

My watch works and Coros tracks my runs perfectly, I have no complaints about the watch or the running logs.
But the marathon level estimation needs improvement, it's simply not looking at the most relevant data.
For example, for nearly 2 months now, my marathon level hasn't increased.
Lately I have been training with a lot less volume, so Coros mistakenly thinks my marathon level isn't increasing just because I'm running less miles per week. BUT, my running is better than ever, I run 2-3 times a week and my form and pace is better than ever, by far! So I'm not sure what data Coros is looking at, but it's not looking at what it should be.
Obviously your algorithms take volume way too seriously, come on, fix this... I know it's not gonna be perfect, but estimating my fitness level based off of volume of miles ran is incredibly ineffective and ignorant, I don't even create algorithms and I can tell yours is very poorly designed.

Love the watch but App is terrible

I switched from Garmin to Coros few months ago. I love the watch but the App needs A LOT of improvements.
1. There is not enough characters to title or name your workouts.
2. No notes section to describe workout, intervals, goals, how you felt etc
3. You can’t filter workouts by running/walking/swim
4. It’s difficult to see your weekly/monthly totals. You have to turn your phone sideways and even then you can not favorite or filter results
5. And this bug me the most. NO WAY TO TRACK YOUR SHOES. On Garmin connect, you can easily track which shoe used for which workout/race. You can see the total mileage, retire your shoes when you need to and even filter by shoe to see when you last used it and for which workouts/days
I’m going to switch back to Garmin just for the Garmin Connect App.

5 star software and hardware

COROS continually impresses me with the training metrics they provide on their software. They make zone training and rest periods very easy.
They also continually update their software to fix bugs and make it better and are very responsive to feedback via email if you have any!!
The hardware works incredibly well and if for some reason it doesn’t their warranty department is incredibly friendly and easy to work with.

Terrible software

Came from Suunto and thought there’s no way that connectivity and software issues could be worse. I was wrong. The Aprx Pro itself is a great watch, but it continually fails to be recognized by the app and requires different combinations of unpairing/re-pairing, re-setting watch and phone, as well as placing the watch in a freezer(!?) to actually pull data from it. Once you do get that data, the app is very underdeveloped relative to competitors, which I hoped would change over time but 10 months after first using it, it’s still super janky. I guess this is the risk you take when you gamble on the sports watch start-up. Your money is better spent with whatever established brand you might prefer.

Happy, but..

I have the Vertex and bought it because I’m a mountain guide and go to altitude frequently. A critical metric that I use to manage the groups pace is ft/minute (or m/minute). I can’t stress how useful this number is.
Please add this to the mounting climbing activity, or better yet, the Home Screen options. This is a watch for going to altitude or diving to great depths right? So give us a feature that lets us do that in a measured way.
There is a large contingency of climbing guides that continue to use the Suunto Vector watch and love that feature. This would be a huge nudge to convert them. I was one of those people but decided to be an early adopter because of the battery life and the more accurate altitude read outs.
Give us this feature and watch sells it self.

Terrible

I tried for a month. Really hard. With the Apex Pro. Apart from great battery life it has nothing going for it. Can’t add different types of exercise, and the app is a disaster. Also the buttons are a nightmare. Pressing and holding just to get to the stop button - and the way it’s designed you can easily press and hold and accidentally pause. On the app I spent hours editing sessions, deleting ones that were irrelevant- and next time my watch synched it just overwrote all the editing I’d done. I’m giving up and going back to Garmin. Don’t bother with this rubbish.

Exceptional customer service

I LOVE my COROS Pace2. When a problem arose with the device, customer service was fast, courteous and knowledgeable. Turns out it was defective so they sent a replacement within a few days. I am so pleased with the level of service I received. This is a great company that clearly stands by their product. (My son, an ultra distance runner wears a COROS too.) I highly recommend their products.

Future Improvements

I switched from Garmin a month ago and I’m finding that the app interface is better. The data metrics for sleep, gps, individual runs, and Barometer are doing pretty good. Battery life is better than Garmin!
The improvements that should be added are as follows: ON/OFF Bluetooth button either on the app or the watch (i.e. firmware update), a little bit more options for watch faces, and lastly, HR metrics ( my optical HR was a little off for a few runs. 10 BPM

Keeps getting better!

Switched from Garmin to COROS for the price and the battery life. At first I missed the Garmin app but now the COROS app is on par. Each update improves statistics and capabilities. Transferring gps routes to the watch is easy. The new added fatigue and recovery time features are great. I love my COROS APEX, and recently had a defect in the screen. COROS customer service promptly responded to all my emails and questions and sent me a replacement watch. Great watch, great customer service, great app, great brand.

Use phone as heads-up display for cycling?

Any chance you guys have thought about being able to broadcast live watch-metrics onto your smartphone, enabling it to function as a heads-up display? I think it’d be a great feature, specifically for cycling, which in my mind would work by piggybacking off of your watch, chest heart rate sensor, power meter, etc., and displaying those metrics in front of you on your smartphone. I understand bike computers already do that and more, but you guys might be able to garner some of their market share with this feature.

Awesome

Really enjoy all the features that the app has to offer. I came from using an Apple watch for years and the activity app from apple is really lacking compared to what you get from Coros. Seeing everything on one page after a run is amazing and so simple to share. I was able to share my data from a recent race with a running coach and she was asking which watch I had. Strength workouts and training plans from their athletes is another addition that I really like plus they listen to their consumers and make regular updates. Keep up the great work.

Unusable

Hardware is good. Software team is incompetent. Stick with polar or just get a Fitbit for heart rate or something: COROS’ software renders your fitness data useless. Again good hardware, but the reality is the software is so incompetently designed and “maintained” that the device is basically a waste of money. It will not provide you with usable information to guide your training, prevent injury, etc - it’s confusing, software updates are unreliable and buggy, data and tracking unreliable and inconsistent, and you’ll basically end up guessing as if you had no training device at all.
Don’t waste your valuable cash on COROS.

I love it

I love the watch. I buy a fitness watch to track my workouts and fitness. And this watch does that at a high quality without extras wasting my battery and time. (If I wanted a smart watch, that’s what I would buy.) but wanting a GPS watch that has an outstanding battery life and quality tracking, you can not get better than COROS.

Would you please make this app dump oxygen saturation to Apple Health

I appreciate the continuous improvements being made to this app. It’s getting better each time.
It’s occurred to me that I’m not able to easily log and track this useful datapoint that the device is already collecting. Given that the app can already write other information to Apple Health adding oxygen saturation doesn’t seem like it would be too difficult. Aside from its value in athletics, in these days of COVID-19, where pulse oximeters have flown off the shelves like TP, I suspect it would be a popular feature!

Lap issues

Overall, a really good watch. Just trying to figure out how all the information it makes available to you is useful in my training.
Also, having issues turning off the Auto Lap option. It’s not on the screen it’s supposed to be on. I wouldn’t mind the manual actually reflecting the setup on the watch face. It’s currently set to auto lap at 1 mile and I would just like to turn it off so that I can manually press the Back/Lap button instead.
I hope this will be addressed soon.

Update fail

Ever since the latest update of both the app and watch, it no longer syncs to 3rd party apps(Strava), distance is inconsistent with 3rd party apps (multiple and significant), doesn't update sleep when you actually wake up but when you manually refresh the app, and goes to a horrible landscape view in the app when checking specific stats. Crazy bummed that an amazing tool went so south in one move.

Terrible App

I like my Coros Apex watch, but this app is terrible. My main problem with the app is that it is impossible to visually track any longer term trends in regard to items such as resting heart rate, fitness level, VO2 max, sleep, and training load. It’s super helpful for any athlete to track this kind of data over 12 month, 6 month, 3 month, etc. timelines, but there is no way to do this within the Coros app. For example, I feel like I might be getting sick today, so I want to see if my resting heart rate is elevated in comparison to my normal levels. The only way to do this within the Coros app is to go back through every day over the last few weeks and write down the resting heart rate for that day by hand in order to plot my own graph. Coming from a Garmin, I could see a graph of my resting heart rate over the last 7 days from the watch without even using their app! Coros needs to get the software side of their business figured out before trying to push any more hardware out to the market. I’ve had my watch for about 2 months now, but I’m strongly considering returning it because the app is so bad.

Almost perfect

Love the easy to interpret data visual displays. It makes for a quick understanding of trends. Simple to use and quick to upload, haven't had any syncing issues like I had with other watch brands.
I do wish there was a feature to add shoes/gear to monitor usage. Maybe in a future update?

Update Breaks Heart Monitor.

The latest update broke the heart monitor. Not even remotely close and makes all metrics associated with it meaningless. The watch is now essentially useless and I don’t recommend it to anyone. Their software testing and quality is a joke. The app is riddled with bad links and confusing terms. I was willing to put up with it as long as the performance data was solid. Please don’t waste your time with this product.
