Everything GoF 3 Should Have Been.
I just had to update this review and state that I find this even better than I originally thought it was. The farther I progressed in the game the more incredible it became. I'm serious, this is the best space combat game I've played in years.
I do miss the open world aspect of a game like Galaxy On Fire. But, compared to how terrible I found that IAP-riddled GoF 3 Mantacore game to be, and all the great features they removed. Well, Subdivision Infinity makes up for a lack of an open world with just so many amazing and addictive features. And I found the missions a lot of fun.
I really get the feeling that so much passion must have been put into this title. I mean, you can tell if you click on a ship in the menu and turn it 360 degrees and just friggin' marvel at the insane amount of skill and detail that I believe was put into crafting these gorgeous, super-sci-fi spaceships. I've seriously sat there in the menu for like ten minutes, just going through each ship and turning them every which way, to just see how awesome they look in my opinion.
And if you think in the beginning it might seem a little slow. Well, just wait until you start mining for resources and getting money and also once you open the brilliantly entertaining "Free Hunt" mode and you save up money to buy newer and better ships and weapons and upgrade your gear. Because, man, the ship I am using now is just a beast and it handles awesomely and I rack up like over 30 kills in "Free Hunt".
I've also started to really enjoy the banter between my character and that android or robot guy you always talk to, it's a dry humor but pretty funny in my opinion. Plus, I think whoever did the sound design and especially the score for this game did an awesome job. You'd think hearing the same song while mining would become monotonous. But, each time I hear it I enjoy the same as I did the first time.
Also, the variety and diversity of the weapons you can buy for your ships is really neat I think. Right now I have one gun that has a super slow fire rate, but it makes up for it with powerful damage when it hits a target. And the other gun I have equipped is the opposite, low damage but an insanely high fire rate. I can blow up away enemy ships and drones with like one or two hits from my guns now, it's so cool. And just wait until you can equip missiles. I have the top tier missile system set up and it is so cool I think watching them follow enemy ships and blow them apart just from that one barrage.
And in the end, I just cannot stress enough to the developer how grateful and thankful I am that this brilliant game is sold for one fair price and doesn't contain any stupid in-app purchases. Because, had it contained in-app purchases, it would have absolutely destroyed and ruined anything good about this game. And that's a fact, not an opinion. So, again, thanks so much to Crescent Moon for not being greedy and for selling this console-worthy title ethically and morally. Please don't change that and please don't add greed-driven in-app purchases in the future. The game is perfect in my opinion, beyond amazing, please don't ruin that.
Though, if you ever came out with a new, sold for one price IAP, campaign addition to this game. Well, I would absolutely buy that if it was worth it. Basically if it was like the amount of quality and length of an expansion like Rockstar Games would release in the past for the Grand Theft Auto series, well, then I'd absolutely show my support and buy that type of expansion. Or even better, a sequel that is also void of in-app purchases and sold for one single price please. Thanks again for being ethical and for this masterpiece of a space shooter game and God bless.
I'm enjoying this space-fighter video game a whole lot so far. In my opinion it has top-notch production values, a decently interesting story line, great combat graphics and physics gameplay features, superb sound design and just all around I believe it's a really fun experience.
I did have to turn my flight steering sensitivity pretty much all the way down to zero to be able to control my spaceship, though. Not a huge deal, but just thought I'd mention it.
And also, the reviewers lamenting about how you cannot invert the spaceship pitch, well, that is just entirely incorrect. All it took for me to find the Invert setting was to go into the Options menu and it's sitting right there. I know doing that must be a lot to ask from today's spastic youth, though, hehe.
But, in the end, the main reason I gave this what I find to be, great game, a full 5-stars. Is simple really. It's absolutely because of the fact that this title isn't ruined like pretty much every other game, with in-app purchases, advertisements, timers, energy and all of that other bull-excrement.
So, I want to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to, Crescent Moon Games, for having proper morals and proper business ethics and for not ruining this great title with greed-driven micro-transactions. Paying once for a title should always be enough in my opinion and I'm glad that there is a small minority of developers who still have the scruples to agree with that sentiment, thank you very much.
Just please keep it that way and please don't go adding greedy in-app purchases later down the line. Or, my 5-star rating will instantly change to the default 1-star rating. Thanks again for this game, the time and hard work no doubt put into building and refining it, for not being greedy pigs and God bless.
