As someone else said, log into your account on their website and reset your password. That fixes the app. Not sure why it says “server error” when it’s a password error. That said, I’m changing my rating to 3 stars because they still have a lot of issues with the app in general.
I’ve had the app and machine for a few years and while I love the machine, I HATE the app! I haven’t been able to connect to the app for months with it saying, “abnormal server.” I’ve tried everything and still nothing. The app is completely useless. Also, as others have said, landscape mode is frustrating and not needed. It’s also super annoying when it tells you to add food and you push the button that says, “remind me tomorrow” and it continues to beep at you all day. What’s the point of that option if it doesn’t work?! So until they fix their app, buying the more expensive wifi version of the garden is pointless and a waste of money.

I love my gardens, but this app is really not up to par. I haven’t even been able to use the app for a while at this point, I keep getting these “abnormal server” notices when I try to login, no help in sight. When the app works, it’s ok, not great. At this point, I may as well delete it as I keep checking for updates but none to speak of and it’s pretty annoying to not even be able to login.

Only available in landscape mode and there is no indication in the app if the lights or water pump are on or off. So you can toggle them on/off or set a program, but you can’t actually tell if they are on/off unless you are standing in front of the aerogarden. Why bother with the app if you have to be standing by it anyway? Why no portrait mode? App could be much better.

It was working just fine up until a few months ago now it shows server error when trying to sign in. I tried deleting and reloading the app but still came up with server error. Another user on reddit said they created a new account and it fixed it for them. I opened a new account and got the same server error
It’s an app that doesn't work so I suggest to other people don’t bother. You can still do everything on the machine itself and more than the app does. Not missing out on anything unless you were out of town trying to monitor the machines.

Please fix your app. Trying to login and get an abnormal server error. I’ve been in the web design and development industry for over 20 years and have not seen that when you try to login. I’m in the United States though I’m not sure maybe in another country that’s typical. very disappointed. also tried to sign up through Google Gmail and it said Google blocks Scott because you’re not secure or something. Please either get rid of your app or spend the money to fix it.

I also kept getting the Abnormal Server error for weeks. I finally clicked on the icon to show the password that it was using and it was an OLD one! I entered my current password and the app has been working fine again. The error should have said “Invalid password”. I wonder if they used a very old backup on their server and many of our passwords got changed backwards. I also was getting alerts from the app even though it wouldn’t let me log on, which gave me hope that there was a solution. I hope this helps some of you. Otherwise, I love my AeroGarden and only wish the app kept a history of the alerts so I could view them in the app and that it could be viewed in portrait mode.

I have had Aero Garden for several years now, and love them all. Just lately the wifi has nor been working, it says Abnormal Server, what ever that means. I love my gardens, but this app and its support from aerogarden are terrible. I’ve been unable to launch and run this app for weeks and Aerogarden doesn’t do cellular based customer service, their text chat is automated and won’t send you to anywhere but their FAQ section, and I’ve emailed them and have to just sit back and wait for a response.
I’ve had great experiences up to this point but this app is currently a train wreck and I’ve been able to find no help or support to remedy the problem. I literally just had to stand on a chair to raise my gardens lights on a stacked farm 24 xl because I can’t do it from the app. It just keeps telling me “abnormal server” and sending me back to the login page.

Nice garden with a few bugs. Wi-Fi feature is nice allows you to see status of your garden from anywhere. Now for the BUGS. Let’s talk about light. If and when your plants grow and reach the light and you are at the point where you can’t raise your lights because your plants have grown to the top. You can go in your app and adjust your light brightness if the garden is having connectivity issues. One thing that I wish is that it could remember the brightness you set the day before. Everyday you must remember to set the brightness control or your plants leaves will burn because the light goes back to 100 percent brightness every single day. This is a big issue if your plants are tall and you can’t raise the lights anymore. Why didn’t they allow the garden to remember the previous brightness from the day before. This is a pain to have to adjust every single day the light cycle starts again. Also, our garden was having connection issues with Wi-Fi at random times during the day. If you can’t get into you app because it decided to disconnect you can’t see your garden’s settings or adjust anything so it makes the app that should allow you to make adjustments to water flow rates, light brightness, useless. This disconnect issue was so frequent we had to get in touch with AeroGarden tech support to try to correct. They assured us they were doing some updates to app that would correct the disconnect issues the garden was having. Of course you have to rest the entire garden to do this. This in most cases forced you to uninstall the app and then reinstalling and starting over as if it was a new garden. This issue seems to be working for now hopefully it will continue. Wish they would of made the garden remember the light brightness from previous day but no luck on that so far. So being able to grow your favorite vegetables year round is nice, but aero garden does need to continue to work out a few issues the gardens have. There are many complaints about this on a google search. Hopefully aero garden is trying to fix these issues.

Used to love our farm. Bought (2) more and got a sprout and harvest slim free. Two wks on vacation scorched or denied any on the (net) dead. Annoying abnormal server readings/our IT provider even Re placed/Re positioned modems n wires. Zero help. Two months CS AG was Great but nothing works more than 1-3 days. Only ones that WORK right are Not connected. Kids can earn an allowance better than wifi and a garden I guess. Wasted money

I’ve had my 9-hole AeroGarden for about 2 years now and it’s been great having fresh lettuce available for weeks at a time. I have tried some other methods of indoor gardening and this is by far the easiest. When my lettuce starts to shoot it’s so easy to pull everything, wipe it down, pop in some new soil sponge things and some seeds, and wait for new sprouts! It’s such a pleasure to watch grow!
I had great success with my original herb garden set (though the basil went out of control!!), then purchased a pack of plugs and various lettuce “container garden” compatible seeds and have been enjoying fresh salads throughout the year in my tiny apartment.
The 9 unit pods are too close together to reasonably grow 9 plants, I would recommend buying multiple smaller units so that you can give the plants more space:)

I went to the Aerogarden website, so that I could buy more seeds for my garden and it said that I needed to download the app. I went to download the app and I don’t think I have any of the wifi Aerogardens. I clicked create account and it looks like I can buy seeds, but why won’t the app let me have my phone right side up? It needs to be done all horizontal which is a little frustrating. Please make it easier to buy seeds! I just want to grow some flowers! Haha!

I got the trio grow light and absolutely love it. I tried to sign up for the app 5x and got in 2x with 2 different emails. I could not find my way past the shopping to the area to upload and control the light. Attempts to go back knocked me out of the app and upon attempts to re-log in took me to a message saying my account(s) did not exist. Deleted the app. I still love the light but would love it a lot more if I could control it from my iPhone 13

Nice way to monitor your gardens. I really like the display. Its easy to read. I like the reminders and i love that i can control my farms that are stacked so I don’t have to get a ladder to see the display, or adjust the lights. Not only are aerogardens my favorite hydroponics, company to deal with, but also have this great app. Been a fan for years and have several models, so easy to check on all my wifi gardens.

Having a blast growing my own herbs, lettuce and tomatoes. I have made more pesto in two months than I did in a year previously! Tomatoes are incredibly sweet and I have so many of them, WoW.

I keep hoping that the next update will put back the ability to sync the clock. The phone app has it, and the earlier version of the app did. AeroGarden support has been aware of it since shortly after the newer version was released, but has yet to fix that.

My first experience using the Aerogarden. I’ve used many other brand hydroponics before and Aerogarden stands among one of the best units, however the app does not do the experience justice. The app UI restrict the user to landscape mode which is cumbersome for our current single hand mobile world. The app UI is odd in a sense that it’s like using a web portal rather than a dedicated app. Aerogarden is one of the oldest hydroponics brands, however the app is extremely behind compared to other brands out there. I’m sold on the unit but not the app.

I am disappointed with this app for a variety of reasons not the least of which is that it will not change out of landscape mode. I mean come on that has to be a basic thing all apps should do! Also disappointed that it doesn’t close easily, which may have something to do with the fact that it is in landscape mode. App installed fine, unit connected to my WiFi fine, and the app connected fine, well once that is. After viewing the status upon return I’m required to sign in again (fail #1). App forces phone to landscape mode (fail #2) and finally it does not connect giving me a “network timeout please try again” error (fail #3). These are all huge fails and need to be addressed.
Update - today it connected fine so I added a star because it when from non-functional to flakey.

It’s very useful in a lot of ways. For the most part it works good. It’d be nice if there was a vertical mode so I don’t always have to flip my phone to use the app. Also there’s this super annoying bug where it undoes your notification settings every day so I can’t turn off the tips and supply reminders. I’m constantly getting pointless notifications and every time I turn it off the next day my settings are reset and I’m still getting notifications. This is by far my biggest annoyance and it’d be nice to see it fixed.

I have several aerogardens and two are Wi-Fi. My first one I set up on another device. Worked fine. Now I am forced to login before I can set up my new one. I can login on the website but not the app. This is basic customer service. Paid hundreds of dollars for garden I can’t use because I have to login.

This has been nothing but a nightmare. First the product itself took hours to put together because the holes didn’t line up perfectly and were too small for the screws. Now the app cannot connect with the system. Tried my account which I’d already set up, says the password is wrong (it’s not), reset the password on the website. Still not responsive. Then tried a new email. Same issue. I’m ready to return the whole product. We couldve build one on a timer system for less of a headache. Seems like this is an issue from years ago (another review on here, same problems, 4 years old); where’s your development team? Why is the app only able to be used in a landscape profile? I try to only leave positive feedback as I know what reviews can do. It’s really sad to be so disappointed by a hobby that I was very excited about by 1 company.

The app is good, but notifications are broken and have been for over 2 years of your products. No matter how many times I save my preferences, they will not save that I don’t want gardening tips sent to alert me. Who would want this in the first place? People usually want notifications if there is a problem such as low water or nutrients being needed to a 4am notification on how to prune your plant. Everyone I turn off gardening notifications and save them they keep coming back.

I love the aerogarden app. Its fun to wake up to a garden tip. I wish the app would allow me to add gardens that don’t have wifi like my sprout so I could at least track when I started a new garden and when it’s time to add food. I had some trouble with the photo feature. For some reason I cannot add a picture even though I gave the app access to my photos.

I have 2 not so old 2018 Harvest wifi models. Both stopped connecting or updating in the app properly. Aerogarden support ran me through the reset process which I had already done before reaching out. One of the messages says the machine is registered to “Cannot run a runtime binding on a null reference” There’s no way that’s my email! Aerogarden, the issue is at your server! They said, YOUR machine is broken. Here's a 10% discount. Go buy a new bounty or a farm. Then they stopped responding.

App works as advertised, and setting up my garden using the barcode was a breeze. This app feels very outdated though, like it was optimized for an earlier iOS design language. Additionally, the controls are not very intuitive. It’s not clear which areas are clickable.
The forced landscape perspective is very annoying as well. I feel the app should work in both portrait and landscape modes. I only hold my phone in landscape when watching videos. I shouldn’t have to hold my phone that way to check on the status of my garden.

I just wish to say thank AeroGarden for helping me get back into gardening hydroponics and aquaponics. I hope that someday their can be HomeKit and Apple Watch support in AeroGarden iOS app. ++ I don't know what it would take to make a wifi/bluetooth drip pump for aquarium/reservoir to feed AeroGarden system racks or ‘walls’. Their are many DIY options but adding the option to monitor reservoir levels. Or an API that tells the pump to feed at low medium or off on full with the wifi enabled Bounty an XL farms. +HomeKit support for Siri to turn off lights, suspend for set time (movie/meal time), dim to percentage or inform on water levels. I know their is some work arounds for Apple Shortcuts. *App so far needs portrait mode, and keyboard in Garden Log takes up all screen reality in adding notes. +Even adding Siri or Alexa in voice assistance for specific notes like pollination or trimming could be useful. *This current app also is void of Pump Settings for advanced watering schedules. +AR/Lidar could be used for buds, fruit count, flower count even propagation and trimming tips. *+*+*+*Maybe an open source access to help develop rPi, Arduino, and IOT board development for aeration and water/drip feeding pump applications.

Initial install forces me to landscape mode, and then asks if I want to setup an account. Then proceeds to load an iFrame and then brings up the on screen keyboard - leaving me with less than one line of text entry and no scroll or anything else. I have yet to log in, will have to create an account on the PC and see if I can log in from there. Bad user experience on this app. You can do better.

I bought a bounty aero for growing herbs and it was great loved it so much I made the investment for 24xl
I have had very hard time growing the cherry tomatoes and. Certain herbs there are more that don’t germinate never should’ve invested into the 24xl nothing but problems my bounty with 6 pods grew better the basil & other herbs were growing like crazy the company has sent me different pods to try to help but nothing,I bought squash seeds from different companies and use the sponges the pods grow bought from them aero did have some good results got so big took out side tomatoes grow so far then stop and this is the ones in. The pod kits still have some good herbs most of time from bounty aero the lettuce grew pretty good to i have just had a treble expensive time I’ve called most say same thing wash and clean restart i have yet to have a tomato from the 24xl it’s been about 3. Months if I could I’d return it

Make app portrait mode, fix midnight push notifications

Please make the app portrait mode. It’s horribly inconvenient using the app in landscape mode and I avoid using the app for that reason alone.
There is also a bug in your barcode scanner being off center (and very hard to position because app is in landscape mode).
Your login does not provide any indication if an account exists or not. As an example I thought I had an account created, and attempted to login and reset my password. All of the UI indicated that I had an account. After waiting for an hour without an email I went over to the create an account portion instead.
Lastly, you need to set better times for sending push notifications. I receive them at midnight! Terrible.

Hello, I have been using this app since 2017, everything was perfect till the AeroGarden decided to update server. After this update I cannot login into my app. The customer support are trying to help me, I got new password, but there is simply no connection to the server. I am really frustrated, I love my mini garden, I took it from my expatriate trip from Alabama to Germany, I bought voltage transformer for it, it worked perfectly till this update couple months ago...please, fix this issue soon😞

First the scanning the barcode did not work for me, no matter what position I held my phone. Not a big deal since you can enter it manually, but it really should work better.
Then the app worked well for two days. The first time it Stopped working, I noticed on the app there was a “red !” On it. Tried to open the app and would not go past the log in screen. No error message, no message saying password is incorrect. Just looks like it is working, then goes back to the log in screen. Deleted app and downloaded again thinking maybe the app was corrupted. Nope, same thing. Three hours later, tried again using the original login email and password and it worked just fine. The off again/on again needs to be looked at.

I love my Aerogardens and don’t mind paying for the ease of use. Don’t get me wrong, the Aerogarden itself is great. I have a Farm 24xl, a Bounty and a Sprout. The app is the issue...
This app was down for weeks because they didn’t have their stuff together and couldn’t cope with Apples requirements. The app only operates in landscape mode and is a pain to utilize on an iPhone. Notifications for fertilizer and water disappear and do not remind you after the initial opening of the app. If you are not in a location where you can add fertilizer or water immediately don’t open the app or your reminder will disappear. Please fix so that reminders stay in place until the user clears the reminder. Also, is it too much to ask to have the time automatically set off of the phone or app? There’s no reason you should have to manually adjust the time every time there is a power outage or you unplug and replug in the unit and it’s connected WiFi . This should be automatic.

The only problem that I have encountered is that if there is a power outage the garden remains off when the power returns and the app does not tell you that the garden is not on. This can be a problem if we are on vacation. We solved the problem with a UPS. Other than this, we now have a limitless supply of Basel and selantro.

The App freezes sometimes and takes days to begin working again. It would not let me login. I tried to uninstall it from my phone and that didn’t work either. I am still unable to take pictures within the app or upload any taken even though the camera has permission to sync. Definitely some improvement to be made to improve the app for consumers. I am mostly sharing this review to help the developers to impetuosity glitches. That being said, I’m happy with the products (my garden) so far.

Over Xmas the previous release broke so you could not set up your gift. So just went through the experience of setting up with the version released today only to discover it doesn’t support the code128 the 2019 Aerogarden Bounty displays, but instead supports only QR codes. Try punching in alpha numeric tiny combinations on an iPhone, total PIA. Beyond that hoping the app will send the appropriate reminders to make it useful. Or will see if the wifi connects to Alexa to also offer reminders.

I am an experienced gardener and live in the Northeast (U.S.), so our growing season up here is only around 6 months and that also depends on the crop. The AeroGarden allows you to grow high quality vegetables any time of year, with very little work. The yields are low, albeit but it’s also a lot of fun to grow with this unit, in my opinion. For those less experienced growers, it reminds you when you need to take action, such as feeding, pruning, etc. and maintenance is very straightforward. I would recommend this product to both veteran and experienced growers.

“Abnormal server”, midnight phone/watch buzzes

It worked for me for exactly one day. The second day I tried to login and every single time, on my phone or iPad it just said “abnormal server” and would not log in, so will not open. Although that did not stop it from giving me a ‘garden tip’ at midnight every night that it was installed, which buzzed both my phone and my watch even though they are on do not disturb while I try to sleep. Now on the third day it no longer says abnormal server, but login attempts still fail - today when I hit login the ‘wait’ signal just spins and spins but never actually logs in. Uninstalled. Not only totally Useless since it won’t open, but actually incredibly irritating, since waking me up at 12:00 am two nights in a row. It won’t get a third chance tonight, I’m done.

I purchased a bounty elite with WiFi. The app DOE NOT WORK. I received an “Abnormal Server Error” message each time I tried to access the app. The Ad for this app makes you think that it works like a charm. It does not. You’d think that as costly as this model is, they would develop an app that actually. The chat person told me that the engineers are doing maintenance on the app. Not true, she was just trying to get rid of me and take on the next rube. There’s phone number that the garden displays for you to call a person. But, guess what..the recorded voice cites COVID as the reason that they are not answering calls. Can you catch Covid via phone calls....NO. I am so totally disgusted with their support. Don’t pay the extra money for the Bounty Elite Model, it is not worth it!!!!

I love to see how my garden is growing, but the picture taking is difficult and only stays on the only device I can get a picture to take. Wish it had how many days when you take the picture also as it cuts off the bottom so you can’t read it.

Most recently the app gave me 495 new notifications over 1-2 hrs during the middle of the night! But when I opened it, all of my gardens were perfectly fine. And yet the notifications still kept coming.
I’ve been using this app for 2-3 years now and I’ve had the same exact problems other people have mentioned in their reviews. I’ve come to the decision that they're scamming people out of extra money for Wi-Fi units knowing full well that their app doesnt work and have no intention of fixing it.
I’ve purchased 2 farms and 8 bounties over the years, but at this point I’m done! I can no longer continue to support this company or their scam.

Downloaded the app to play around before purchasing a couple Aerogarden Farms. Created an account on the Aerogarden site, and now can’t sign into the app, it’s giving me an invalid password error even though my password is saved into a pass manager. Reset the password, same error. Tried to make a new account via the app, can’t because I have an account already.
Fine, guess I won’t pick up those four Farms after all. If a millennial software engineer for a Fortune 10 company can’t get an account setup there’s no chance that my 70 year old father can.
Also landscape only on an app is absurd, it’s 2020.

I’ve wanted to buy an Aerogarden for quite awhile. I’m the opposite of a green thumb. I’ve had my Harvest for less than 3 weeks and every pod is growing. I take a photo every day to see the growth and cannot believe how fast everything is growing. I have an extremely demanding job in healthcare, so when I come home to my green babies, I feel joyous!

This Farm Plus is my third AeroGarden and I’m pleasantly surprised by all of the improvements and upgrades. I maintained my first planting for over 120 days. It was primarily lettuce and edible greens with a couple of herbs thrown in for good measure.
My wife and I ate salads every two to three days and shared herbs with friends and neighbors.
It’s a real treat to have such clean and healthy greens at your fingertips, especially with all of the recalls for lettuce.
I’m a happy camper.😋

Cannot install using iPad but works fine on iPhone

Could not complete initial install using iPad Pro 9” (iOS11.2.1). However, no problems doing initial install using iPhone 6+. App works well on iPhone & iPad once initial set-up completed on iPhone. Problem is just during initial set-up if you use an iPad. Apart from that - works fine. (iPad install problem occurs when hitting NEXT end of step 2 of set-up.)

So, this app is still not updated, and is still difficult for adding WiFi AGs - for the same screen incompatibility reasons - which could so easily be remedied by competent coders. (Of course, you’d have to actually hire and pay them.) It is still truly difficult to add WiFi AGs. This makes my AG life difficult as I have 10 Harvest WiFi models - and 2 Bounty WiFi models. I just couldn’t face the trauma of trying to add most of them - so for the most part, I use them as just some kind of touch pad AGs. Still, this is how AG commits to its customers.

I wish I could rate this app 5 stars but it has some bugs. The most annoying is seen a message on the locked screen and when opening the app to read it, the message is no where to be found. It would be nice to have all those messages saved somewhere. Otherwise, is pretty good. The app connected easily to my AeroGarden and alerts me when it was time to add nutrients and water. It is also nice to adjust the lights cycle. As I said, I would like to have all the tips from the locked screen available to read again later.

We started with the Bounty and the small little guy, we were so happy two weeks later we purchased the Farm xl. Within about two weeks the everything we planted was growing. Setup was a breeze. The lights work and were bright enough that found a spot for them in a room. We are really happy with them. If you like knowing we’re your food is coming from, I would recommend the Aero Garden. Soooooo Happy!!!

The app is a little bit outdated but not that bad. It works and my garden is always connected. It tells me when I need to give it water and food and I can remotely turn on and off the lights. You can also mess with the settings for the lights, water and nutrients on the phone and it is a lot easier. I hope the app gets an update soon to improve some of the issues like how if the water pump turns off and you go into the app while it’s on it does not show in real time that it is off. You have to exit the app and go back in and you will see that it’s off. I also have not gotten any tricks and tips notifications. What I think is good is that I have not had any issues with pressing a button in the app and it not happening in real life. When I press the lights on or off almost instantly they do it. Overall pretty good.

The app is simple to use. Provides directions for WiFi connection. It offers full control to your garden, allows you to take and store pics of your ever-changing garden, control the lights, reminds you when to add water and feed. It even provides growing tips. The only hardship I had was at the beginning when I was first setting up the WiFi with the app. It would not sync the garden to my network. It didn’t work at first because I was trying to sync to my 5G network. Once I switched to 2G network, it still wouldn’t sync. The app stated that I may need to reset/reopen the app after changing network so I closed out of the app. Once I reopened the app and went through the steps it finally connected. I give this a 5 Star because the setup took less than 5mins and the app works great.

I just bought the aero garden with Wi-Fi. I set up the garden and then downloaded the app as instructed. When I tried to login with my email address, I got a message saying that the password was incorrect. When I tried to reset the password, I needed to have the old password. If I had the old password I wouldn't of needed to reset it. Finally, it was telling me that my email address was already in use and I could not use it. So I had to set up a new account with a different email address. All of this required multiple email messages with codes that required me to go back-and-forth between my email and the app. When I set up the network on the garden, I got a message that there was a new release of the software. I selected the option to update the software and the update failed partway through due to "network problems" and I had to re-enter the network information again. I tried this multiple times and was never able to get the update installed. The garden is never able to complete the update. I also had to reset the clock after that. So I am very disappointed with the quality of the app and the set up process for the garden. It is for all intents and purposes unusable. I also noticed that the app has not been updated for over six months. Not good.
