Easiest way to listen to your own audio
I have 100’s of hours of spoken audio material. This is the easiest app to use to upload and listen to that material on my iPhone. I upload files to my iCloud Drive and then share the files to this app.
Has all the features I need.

Future is not supported
Trying to download files from one drive and getting error future is not supported. One drive is visible and files are accessible. Please advise.

It’s starting to slow down!!
I’ve noticed after the last several updates that there is a terrible lag now every time the Play/Pause button is pressed... and this is happening on the fastest iPhone available with the most memory available! It’s really making me want to find another player app. I hope this will be fixed soon.
Also, without the ability to add bookmarks, listening to long lectures and any other material used for research is painful. Bookmarks would make this great app unbeatable!

Set it up in seconds.
Just started using it. But easy to pull audiobooks from my Files app connected to my laptop through iCloud. Also easy to download a zip file. Very intuitive. Thx.

Few things missing
1 - adding a 1.1x speed would be great to have! (When 1.25 is too fast...)
2 - ability to add a cover picture to books and audio files from the photos gallery so we won't always stare at the blank image would be nice

iOS 13.3.1 killed it
Since upgrade to iOS 13.3.1 I can no longer select it as Airdrop target. I can not import a folder with mp3s from “on the iPhone” either. Please fix, it is a great app when it worked. Oh, and please fix Cyrillic fonts. They look garbled

I asked for a slower speed and they delivered a few days later. Excellent. 50% speed helps a lot.

Love it so far!
I am on the road all the time and live on audio books in the car. I use the library and would copy CD audio books into the audiobooks section in iTunes. Now that Apple Music has broken out the Books app the synchronization of audio book files is hit or miss at best and was making CD audio books all but unusable. Books is great if you want to buy books from the Apple store but that’s about it. With this app I can easily burn the CDs in Apple Music and then Airdrop them right into BookPlayer. It picks up the file where you left off even if you completely close the app and gives you control over listening speed and includes a sleep timer.
One note- when you Airdrop the all the files of a single book it will not automatically group them into one book in your BookPlayer library. To do this manually after the files are processed pick “Create New Playlist”. You can then name the playlist with the name of the book and you’re good to go.

Decent, more issues popping up
“Smart rewind” is not smart enough. It should incrementally rewind depending on how long it has been paused. Or at least give me the option to customize the timer.
For some reason, playing an audiobook through the widget opens up the entire app, which kind of defeats the purpose of the widget. You also cannot pause an audiobook through the widget.
Rewinding via AirPods sometimes mutes the audio, but the book still “plays” causing me to miss certain parts. There is also some lag when skipping back or forward with the set intervals (I skip back ten seconds, but have to wait a few seconds before hearing anything). This makes it hard to find the right location in my audiobook.

Amazing app!! I am using it now when I’m not using overcast
My only complaint is that the max limit is 2x speed increase. Hopefully we can see 2.5 and 3x speed too!!!

Super easy to use
This app is awesome! It works well and is easy and intuitive. It’s free, but it’s totally worth supporting them by making a donation at one of the premium tiers. Gotta support such a good app.

Support for folders
I’ve uploaded books that are organizing by folders but the app refuses to see or play the files in them. If I upload the files themselves then it sees them. Why is this not supported???

it’s basically perfect.
it does everything i wanted (configurable playback speed, skip forward/back, always remembers where i left off, sleep timers) and more (like the option to automatically rewind by 30 seconds when the player has been paused for awhile - i didn’t know i needed that until i had it!) and with no ads or nagging. nice UI and i haven’t encountered any bugs. plus it’s open source!

Ability to listen to audiobooks even on iPhone
The pair of apps BookPlayer & Phone Drive are what I use to move and listen to mp3 audiobooks from my PC to my iPhone.
Great pair!
Also, I listen to this in my car and big truck through the radio and the audio boost (x2) is invaluable when it is noisy. I cannot stress how much this one option means to me.

Adding books is too buggy
I could not successfully add a book via Drive. I made a playlist and added a couple tracks, but 90% of the time the interface does not work. I was using a stable WiFi connection.

It’s Good
It plays your books just fine. I wish they would make some improvements and add some features. Make it easier to rewind when you have to go say 10 or fifteen minutes. Add the feature to enhance the volume of the player.
My fault it does already support upping the volume. What I mean by fast forwarding or rewinding is the ability to move the slider. I know you can go in settings and change the jump time but if u need to move 5, 10, 30 minutes etc to get to a location you can not use the slider. It is not useful unless you want to get within an hour or so. If you have it set for 5 minutes you could repeatedly push it. I like the player it’s just something to improve it and give it the ability of other players.

Exactly what I was looking for
A way to play any mp3 on your phone as an Audiobook so that the place is saved. Every other app seems to only let you use what you buy from them - or you have to use iTunes to transfer it.
With this app, you can download a file and put it straight into the app

CarPlay!
This app works on CarPlay. There are no bugs like the other app from a different company that works with Carplay that has issues rewinding from steering wheel controls. It’s simple, has a good appearance that isn’t complicated and it just works.

Unable to import files from google drive
Connected to google drive, navigated to a folder, selected files to import ... operation failed :(
“The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred”. I am able to add 1-3 files at a time, however a lot of the books I have are broken into smaller files (legacy of East 2000’s) and this app is unable to process them properly.

Extremely Good but missing one thing!
If i could download the audiobooks onto my watch that would be awesome cause then i can listen while im on my runs in the evenings. But otherwise a great app so far.

Super Intuitive
This is the first review I’ve given on anything but this little app has changed the way I listen to books. It saves your place, allows you to set timers (which I use every night as I fall asleep) and is so intuitive. Creating playlists is super easy (finally!) and the controls are exactly what you need without feeling cluttered or clunky. Thanks guys!

What? What’s that I hear?
Nothing. That’s exactly what I hear. While I was initially thrilled to see my audiobooks seamlessly slide right into this trim app I was equally as disappointed when I tapped play and heard...well...nothing. Oh it is playing...I can see the little bar moving right along and the time ticking and all the gestures shown to me in tutorial work as directed. But I’m hearing no silly words streaming into my ears and no smiles are being produced from the humor expected from my AUDIObook. I put in a help ticket. Well I tried. I was sent to GitHub. Made an account and as a retired IT professional didn’t let github intimidate me. I threw in the towel 42 minutes in. I finally found a way to email customer support. I think we all know how THAT worked out. Same as app. I heard nothing.

BookPlayer is a great app for DRM-Free audio books. It has easy File system import and a slew of other features. I highly recommend it.

Few tweaks...
I don’t have any problems with how this app works at all. I have never tried others, so possibly I am spoiled a bit. The only improvements I would like to see is a 10 second rewind and the ability to edit the order of my recordings.
