This app allows BroadwayHD subscribers to watch content on iPhone and iPad. A BroadwayHD subscription or individual rental is required for full-length shows.

Founded by Broadway producers Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley, BroadwayHD® is capturing and then transporting the magic of performance from the stage to your screen. With titles from Broadway, Off-Broadway, London's West End, and professional touring productions, this channel has something for every theatre lover. BroadwayHD's subscription library includes both classics and newly produced, exclusive theatre content that you won't see anywhere else. BroadwayHD® is Broadway -- Your Way!

BroadwayHD subscriptions purchased with an in-app purchase are valid for either one month or one year. Both kinds of subscriptions automatically renew at the end of the period unless you turn off automatic renewal in iTunes or Account Settings on your device. Renewals are processed approximately 24 hours before the expiration of the subscription period. You can also choose to rent some shows individually for 48 hours. For both subscriptions and individual show rentals, payment will be charged to your iTunes account once you confirm the purchase.

Horrible. Disappointing.

Horrible experience setting up. Does not support earlier generation Apple TVs. Tried using it on an iPad with airplay but it displayed in low quality, small window and was way out of sync. unwatchable.

Tried logging in on a computer to try that but it seems to think I am someone else on a computer and acts as though my account has no credit.

That in addition to other complaints voiced on this site tell me that BHD will fail very soon. Hopefully someone who has a clue will pick up the torch and run with it.

Want to use Chromecast? Good luck

I was so excited to see this app had Chromecast available. It made a subscription totally worth it for me. Unfortunately, no matter what show I'm trying to watch it plays about 2 minutes and then gets extremely glitchy (buffering every 5 seconds). I don't have this issue with any other app that supports Chromecast. Majorly disappointing.

Horrible customer service

We were very excited to see this was available. But, the app has issues with their "higher value" programming when using chromecast. Their customer service is non-existent. Sad. This could be great.

Why can't I fast forward or rewind?

For the love of gravy, it's 2017. You can't put out a video streaming app with both phone and tv versions and not be able to skip ahead or rewind in either version in seemingly any show. Especially since you are streaming Shakespeare. A Shakespeare streaming app in which you can't skip back, you know which would be really useful when watching televised dramatizations in Elizabethan English and iambic pentameter. C'mon, you can do better than this. :(

Disappointed

I was so excited to learn about this service that I immediately ordered a subscription. This was a couple of weeks ago, and I STILL cannot login on the app (yet I can without issue on my computer). WTH? 😡

Close but no cigar.

As of now it is a nice app to have for theater, but one issue that is arising is the long period and inevitable failure of the app connecting to a chrome cast.

Um, what?

You pay for a subscription, but you have to watch an ad before each watch. I wouldn't have write-a-review-annoyance about that except when trying to preview shows to see what you want you have to watch the same annoying ad. Why do I need to preview so many? Because too many of these aren't staged plays, they're movies based on plays, old, or simply me wanting to get an idea of the play. I actually like the BBC styled ones, but I don't need this app to watch those. And almost everything new is a musical. If you like musicals then you may get more mileage out of this than me. Musicals just almost always lose something for me when I'm not there live, but that's just a me I suppose. Will be canceling this. It's weak.

Can't size screen to log in

I can't even open this app because the login screen isn't properly sized for the iPhone. It asks for user name and password but you can't see the password box unless you drag the whole screen up, which means you can't enter the password. So it's pretty much useless.

A perfect way to watch Broadway shows on your mobile device. If you have a subscription this app is a must!

Buggy

I haven't tried the app on my iPad yet, but on my iPhone the app crashes every time I try to access my profile. I enjoy the service and the library, but this is a review of the app

Great idea....but....

I love the idea of a Broadway streaming service. Amazing idea as a total theater nerd.

Issues are. There is almost no selection. Many glitches. If you are using airplay you can't use your phone at the same time (the only app I've ever seen that manages to do that).

Glitches in the app as a whole, I repeat LACK of content. Just very very rough selections. I will watch all of them in the next week just to get my .51¢ trial worth. But entirely not worth it when it goes to full price.

Again. I really wish this could be what it should be. The execution is just not there yet. They. Need to pound some doors and find a way to rework the UI and contract better shows to survive. Point blank.

bait and switch/ripoff

I was initially frustrated that the Chromecast function didn't work for HOLIDAY INN, which was the whole reason for my subscription. I don't know why this company would offer a product that was not supported on all the platforms the site describes as compatible.

I learned my frustrations had been misplaced, however, when I sat down to watch it on my iPad and couldn't load anything beyond the first thirty seconds without endless buffering.

I was absolutely a believer in BroadwayHD after the wonderful broadcast of SHE LOVES ME this summer. Maybe they are trying to do too much, but I feel I was ripped off here by being forced into a subscription for an essentially non-functional service, and I have lost all confidence in this company.

What is the issue?

I couldn't watch Holiday Inn live cause it would only show a two minute seen. Also I can't play CATS at all. I have been messaging with the company and they more or less says it's my device. I can watch all other plays except cats. Time for a refund

Worst app ever, didn't work at all

I paid for a monthly subscription to watch a live show. This app and the Apple TV app would only show 10 to 20 seconds ... SECONDS ... of the show at a time!
