Good God Semidome
In over 13 years of having played various games and used the apps available to me on iOS, I have never left a review up until right now. This game is visually stunning, with a soundtrack that will pull you in and keep you there till the very end. The gameplay is the simplest you can imagine, but executed to perfection. The fun and thrill factors are on-par with anything else out there. Fantastic job.

I’ve been playing this game on and off for a few years but I listen to the soundtrack regularly. Is this a hard game? No. That’s not why you play it. You play it to go to a different world. One with the lights off and a pair of headphones on.

Slow burn
I love this game. I’ve been playing it for the last three years off and on. I can pick it up, play a couple puzzles, and then put it down and do other things. It is so meditative and calm. With just enough challenge to make it interesting. The music in the background is quite ambient and fun! It really helps you focus.

Great game!
As a long haul truck driver this game is really helpful. I have to be able to focus and stay awake for many hours at a time so I play this game while I’m driving. Ha! Just kidding; I prefer Tetris when I’m “driving truck” (a lá Lorne Armstrong). This game is visually mesmerizing and as others have stated the sound design and soundtrack is really cool. It reminds me of the soundtrack from the movie Drive, full of pulsing, driving, retro side-chained analog synthesizer patches from the 80s/90s. Definitely worth playing for just about anybody.

Pretty boring...
At first, I thought WOW this is amazing, the trailer, description, and intro all point to an incredible game. However, the puzzles themselves aren’t very interesting, the soundtrack is fun but repetitive, and the graphics and plot advancements are kept to a bare minimum, drawing you in just as you’re about to leave, there’s only a snippet of plot every 15 gates or so and I just really couldn’t get into it, if you just wanna chill then get this game, if you want plot, graphics, and fun, get Playdead’s INSIDE.

hold and slide
So this one has caused me to realize I don't care for iOS games where the primary control mechanism is hold and slide. It is not a terrible game, but I don't care for this type of control. Furthermore holding the finger down tends to get in the way of seeing the screen. This is a problem because it is physical challenge type game. Not bad, not my favorite.

Meditative in an interactive way...
It’s very relaxing to play this interactive puzzle, moody, cyberpunk type, bit chaser game. Not sure if you could use just one word to describe it, so that was my feeble attempt.
One quick observation, the days seem to be wrong... maybe on purpose? For example, June 30th, 2359 is described as a Monday in-game, and Google tags it at Tuesday. Noticed that at the beginning date as well (can’t remember the specific day, but in-game date said Monday, calendar search had it as Tuesday). Haven’t gotten far enough, so maybe this will be explained later in the story?

When I first started playing, I couldn’t decide if I liked it. After five minutes, I still couldn’t decide. Fifteen minutes in, and I’m still asking myself, “Do I even really wanna play this game?” Its been over an hour now, and I’m quitting because my iPad is about to go dead and I’m so moved that I felt I had to write a review. I guess I answered my own question. This is easily the most unique and surprisingly interesting game I’ve played in awhile. Kudos to the devs for such an engrossing yet minimalist experience. The game was fantastic, the soundtrack was fantastic, the controls were easy to learn and very responsive but it was almost too easy. It’s a great game to consume time but I feel like it could have had a bit more creativity in the level design to make it more challenging to complete each puzzle and the final level was far easier than some of the previous ones

Nightgate is at its best on Apple TV. On a big screen, the whole world feels like Blade Runner. Which is what I want.
Two shortcomings that are considerable but do not warrant a lower rating:
Gamepad support would make it perfect.

Great game
This game is engaging, challenging and addictive, all the qualities you want in a game. So far I have played it twice through and will probably continue to play it several more times. Devs, if you are listening, my only suggestion would be to have the game save the level you are on during the second time through like it does the first time. Hitting play and then exit to try to dial in the level you are on multiple times is less than desirable, but other than that, good work. I can’t wait to check out more Semidome games!

The graphics are flawless and so fun to look at. The controls take a little bit to get used to but are so smooth and simple. The levels are addicting and will always keep you coming back to try them again. I couldn’t get enough of this game and I’m truly sad I finished it. I’d totally recommend it.

Phenomenal Game Play
Playing Nightgate on my Apple TV after taking a hit makes for one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in my life. Music, art design, layout, controls, all get 10 out of 10 in my book. I was sad that it has an end and would love love LOVE more levels some time soon. That’s just me being selfish. Thank you to everyone who made this game a possibility, it’s quite beautiful and a joy to play.

WOW!!!!!!
I am SO glad I came across this on the appstore. This is an incredible game! I wanted to finish it first and it took me a good few hours to complete. The gameplay is super fun, at times challenging - but not impossible to beat. The visuals are fantastic (especially on the iPhone X). And to top it off the soundtrack is probably one of the best I’ve heard in any mobile game app, definitely worth the purchase on iTunes as well. I’d recommend putting on headphones while playing this game, the music really adds to the experience. Overall one of the best games I have played on the iPhone in a very long time. I hope there will be more levels coming soon. Great work devs!

Hypnotic
This game takes you into a new dimension with levels that are mildly challenging, and control is smooth and precise. The game is definitely fun but the most appealing aspect is its simple, yet visually hypnotizing visuals with a soundtrack that gives you the feeling that you are in a lonely distant future.

At long last
I’m not a fan of mobile games. In recent years, I’ve even fallen out of love with traditional PC and console games. This game went above and beyond my expectations. It’s simple, you can pick it up at your convenience with little drag from tapping the app icon to salvaging the quantum spirits of the universe. I highly recommend to those who too have found themselves unenthused by recent gaming experiences. Thank you for this game! I truly enjoyed it!

Kept coming back
It took a few weeks to finish but I could not not come back to it. Certain levels would frustrate me but after hitting the home button out of frustration I would immediately open it back up. Lots of speed and coordination are required. The graphics and sound are great. Outstanding job!

This game is fun! Overall I give it 7/10 score of how good of a game it is. This game helps time pass and get out of boredom. If you want the short answer, here it is: fun, somewhat easy (possible to finish for anyone), and visually interesting. The story though, is confusing. It's about hacking into some system. I'm not sure what the point is but I just finished the game and I was satisfied. The ending was a good wrap up and thanks for making this game!

One of the best games I've ever played
A lot of games seem to have a problem where once the levels get hard, they just get harder and harder until you can't play anymore. This game does not have this problem. Each level has a different obstacle, a different challenge, and while it is challenging, I did eventually finish this game.
And it's such a pretty game. It was a pleasure playing it!

Just beat it
I wish I could see when I started playing this game. It had to have been at least 3 months. Which for me is pretty good for an iPhone game. Usually after a week or two I'll get bored (or need to make room on my phone) and delete the app. But this game was good enough to keep me hooked until I beat it.
The swipe controls are very intuitive and responsive. I don't think there was a time where I died that wasn't completely my fault at not timing something right. One of my favorite things you have to do in the game is juke little red dots coming after you. These controls made it very easy to do that.
The difficulty progression was very good. It did take a while for it to start feeling hard, but there were plenty of different levels to explore that made that alright. I will say I was stuck on level 48 for a few weeks then i beat it and the rest of the game in one session on the toilet.
... I also wish I knew how many hours I logged just on the toilet playing this game!

Awesome Game!
I hardly ever play games on my phone but this one was one of the free apps of the week and I decided to give it a try. This game is a great "darker" game especially playing during the evenings or on a night plane ride. Smooth transitions and light on the eyes and battery life for your phone. Only bad thing about this game is you can beat it! Wish there were more levels, expansion, or version 2.

Fascinating and Well-Designed
Nightgate sees you controlling a small probe through various stages and avoiding various obstacles and threats along the way. The game is more one of careful timing, sharp reflexes, and planning ahead than it is of solving puzzles (though that occasionally comes into play in subtle ways), and what you're left with is an immersive, beautiful adventure through expansive and sometimes challenging levels accompanied by a solid, introspective soundtrack. Few games have been able to move me emotionally simply through level design and music, and I'm happy to say that this one is among the few. By all means, get this game and enjoy all that it brings. Just be careful, as its immersive nature can make you lose track of time and cause you to pass the hours in what feels like minutes.

Great game, derivative sound track
I love this game, and play it on my Apple TV. It's definitely worth every cent.
The only thing that irks me is that the soundtrack is pretty much a complete ripoff of Klaus Schulze, particularly the track "Wahnfried 1883". It's probably not enough of a ripoff to warrant legal action. It doesn't prevent me from giving this game 5 stars. I just thought it noteworthy to give due credit to Klaus Schulze. If you like the music, check out his work.

Amazing game, disappointingly easy "boss"
The other reviewers did a good job of covering how astounding the gameplay, graphics, sound, and minimalist design of Nightgate are. One thing I didn't see covered is how easy it is to defeat the final level.
I died upwards of twenty times on some of the most difficult levels but I beat the final "boss" in my first run-through.
I had been excitedly anticipating the final challenge being a grueling series of all the previous obstacles and enemies thrown at me with an elevated frequency and in new combinations, requiring me to utilize every single strategy and trick I had acquired in my earlier adventures.
At first, it seemed that I might get my wish, as the board layout began morphing in accordance with my progress. It was starting to get a little tricky. Then, suddenly, I apparently beat the game.
I was hoping the cut scene that ensued was just meant to take me to the next level of the boss fight but it really was the end.
It was also the most unsatisfying game finale I have ever worked my way up to.

A unique adventure with a great soundtrack
I really liked this game and would play it over again. The game play is unique in that it's sort of like a platformer but far from the traditional forms of the genre. The soundtrack is really awesome as well, really puts you in the zone.
Additionally, the game is super relaxing for some reason. Usually games get my adrenaline pumping or at least put me on edge but this game actually calmed me down like some sort of meditative experience. PLEASE give this game a shot!

Atmospheric and Visually Unique
The game is very well designed all around. The difficulty increases gradually, as visuals get more and more impressive. The 3D line art gives it a very futuristic yet retro feel. It has a very calm and slightly grim atmosphere, excellent soundtrack, and is very immersive for a game with such a simple mechanic.
Note to devs: it seems to reset to main menu when the device is locked or when app switching in the middle of a level without hitting pause.

The TRON aesthetic
It's as if the developer wanted to capture the feel of TRON but distill it down to its most minimal expression. The soundtrack completes the experience and is thankfully available for purchase. Not difficult to play or finish, so ace gamers may find it not challenging enough, but that would be missing the point. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Would love a sequel that expands the dynamics of the gameplay.

Brilliant
This is a simple game with stunning, minimalist graphics. The controls are on a dime and the puzzles are creative. The music is my favorite part and I recommend playing this game lights off with headphones in. I just beat level 50 and this game provided a solid few days of entertainment. The levels aren't too difficult and the game flows well. It keeps throwing new obstacles at you to keep you hooked and wanting to see what the next level has to offer. Hard to put down.

An Experience
This is just fantastic. For a minimalist game, it's surprisingly immersive, and the predictive enemies are very clever. The puzzles are just on the right side of challenging, and the soundtrack provides the right ambience for playing. I can describe this as nothing other than an absolute experience that you must try for yourself. The only thing I can find any fault with is that the final level is a little too easy for a final level. I'd love to see more levels, an afterstory of some kind, maybe.

On all scales regarding playability, beauty, originality, execution, etc, I give this 10 out of 10. One of the most visually stunning games I've ever played, mobile or otherwise. What are you waiting for?
This game is awesome. The mix of action and light puzzle is tough but never for long enough to induce any temptation to rage quit. The visuals are amazing. The music alone is worth your attention. Put it all together, and you get an instant classic that anyone should check out. (Disclaimer, I got the game on free app of the week, but it's easily worth $10 at least.)

Awesome and Beautiful: A must buy
I love this game! I have unfortunately finished it, and am hopeful that there will be an update with more levels. Basically you have certain objectives to complete without touching any red. The graphics are just awesome! A must buy just for those.
If I had a beef, it would be to allow me to rotate my screen. On a 6s, the off button of the device is on top and in stressful levels, I kept hitting it accidentally and then when I logged back in the app crashed. No biggie with how the app is setup as I didn't lose anything. That is my only issue to allow me to choose which direction to hold my device in landscape mode.

GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got this game when it was the free app of the week and this was literally the best app that I have ever downloaded on my iPad in all of its existence. This game is somewhat of an emotional journey while also being exiting and addicting. The game has a simple concept being that you are a little white dot that is floating through a massive world, and you seem insignificant at first but after you start getting good you feel like you are all powerful (by now I was crying while writing this). I'm telling you this now, YOU NEED TO GET THIS GAME

A nice distraction
The game play is simple and does a great job creating spacial illusions. The score is calming and haunting at times. The two together made a wonderful game experience. It is 50 levels which is a perfect amount. Much better than the endless levels games where they try to sell you on junk to advance. I would recommend it as a fun subway game.

We Can Control It Time To Go Home
This incredible mind bender takes one form of negative anxiety and completely transforms it into a positive, can't take a break to bite your nails joyride. I had multiple thoughts while playing this game. Specifically thinking that it needs a free-mode or something. The slow motion is so fun, I imagine this online world version where you get to choose what you are. The red , slow motion helper outers, or the original dot. Would be an incredible online game...

Amazing! A must try
Thank you for such a great game. It's unique, smooth, thoughtful, exciting, and so much more. It's hard to really explain the journey of playing such a refined and beautiful game like this. The soundtrack, graphics and gameplay had this synergy about it that just made the whole experience so delightful. The difficulty was pretty much spot on, maybe a tad too easy in the later stages, but nonetheless super! I think I said enough about it and I'll stop here, or else I'll keep rambling. Thanks again, and for anyone reading this, go download the game!

Pleasantly Surprised
Tbh i didn't know what to expect but this game has unusual polish for a free game. Great Design, soundtrack, and simple but ever changing mechanics make this game easy to play through. My only criticism is the story. It doesn't have to be complex to be enjoyable because the little motivation the narrator gives is enough to warrant 50 levels. But at the end I still felt like I understood nothing and everything I did was unimportant. Don't go overboard on the story if you plan a sequel. Just give me better motivation to finish the game.

Best Game I've Played on a Phone!
I really like everything about this game. It will keep you engaged for hours! You can tell the creators of this game have put a lot of time into this. The best part: no stupid ads or anything like that. I am writing this review a few days after I got the game and it was free. I would like to see something where if you get past level 50 you have options of buying the next 50 levels for some amount. I don't think this game goes past 50 gates though. Nonetheless, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NIGHTGATE!

I could rate this higher that 5 stars because this game is stunning!! The neon graphics are spot on!! I've already completed the game and it's super hard!!! Hard but fun 😜😜
I totally recommend to play this. I got it when it was the "free app of the week", but whatever how much it costs, ITS SOOO WORTH IT!!!!! Plus it makes sense for this app to be the "free app of the week" because it's so good!!

Fun little game
This game wasn't too difficult and I liked that. Nothing is worse than a game that is so difficult it becomes frustrating. This game has right in the middle. It held my interest from beginning to end. I would've played another 50 levels if I could've. Two thumbs up. Soundtrack was good too even though it was a little bit repetitive.

Good game
I really enjoyed the game. The graphics are beautifully done, as are the shifts in perspective that happen at random levels. Definitely a new and interesting take. For such an addicting game, I'd like to see more levels, if not included at first then either added in update or in sequel. Felt like it ended rather quickly too.

Woah. Just Woah.
This is not a game you see everyday on the AppStore, behind all the mainstream games that have plagued the AppStore, there are games like these, that are astonishing. Nightgate is one of those games that looks boring, but after some time of playing, it'll have you hooked! The stages in this game are extremely well built, the soundtrack is something I would buy from iTunes (and it's there, I recommend it so go check it out) This game is indeed and indie game to go down in history. Good pick for free app of the week and I'm overjoyed I had the honor to play it.

Awesome Graphics and Soundtrack
I was glued til the end. The soundtrack is awesome it's dramatic but helped me concentrate and I actually downloaded it to my music and play it to sleep or study. The graphics felt so dimensional that I felt a visual 3D effect that felt like it was popping out of the screen. It was challenging enough but not so hard I'd give up. And the control is smooth easy and exact. Great job make more levels. The story line was interesting as well.

Not a Puzzle Game
I've seen some reviews complaining about this. You have understand that this isn't really a puzzle game. Mostly it involves coordination, quick reflexes, and concentration, but if you're looking for puzzles then I would look elsewhere. I've only gotten to Gate 7, but I can already tell how amazing this game is. The graphics are, as far as I can tell, absolutely flawless, the story is mostly vague so far, but I'm willing to bet that it's good, and the controls are great. Also, I love the little dots that lead you to the next section. Also, I have noticed that you can go outside of the confines of the puzzle, and the red objects usually don't hurt you, so I don't know if that was an intentional cheat or and oversight. Anyways, great game.

Well done night gate, well done!
I don't normally write reviews but this game is simply amazing, combining minimalistic design with immersive gameplay and amazing sound. I found myself playing it just for the amazing experience it provides at the touch of a button.
The controls are natural and seamless, the gameplay flows perfectly becoming more challenging with each level, but also captivating you with an amazing digital environment.

Really fun, but very quick to conquer
This game is an awesome game, I really enjoyed play it. Unfortunately it only took me about an hour and half of total play time to beat the game. It said Apple's free game of the week. Being free it wasn't disappointing but if I had paid for the game to beat it in a mere hour and a half then I would of been very disappointed. If it's free, I would definitely recommend it, otherwise don't waste your money on such a quick game.

Wow!
Levels are simple and fun along with the graphics and soundtrack. The levels can get repetitive but the storyline that goes along with the game is definitely above average compared to many mobile games, especially for how simple the game mechanics are. All in all, an amazing game and would recommend for anyone who is looking for a game to kill time. Personally I completed the game in a few hours but the time may vary, depending on skill.

I've always been one too download new games and try them out but I have to say this game right now is by far my favorite! It's a simple enough concept that anyone can play yet challenging enough for everyone. Very easy to get caught up in the game! The controls are great. I really have nothing bad to say about this game. Great job to the creators. Hope to see Nightgate 2 soon!

Speechless
I can't even describe the experience when I first entered Nightgate. This has to be the most intriguing mobile game, but even more beautiful than its addiction. The graphics are unique and jaw droppingly smooth. And not to forget the audio! The soundtrack was so amazing and you could really tell how much care went into the production of this master piece. Thank you for letting me embark on this crazy expedition. ❤️

Excellent for unwinding!
This game slowly ramps up in difficulty, but never made me feel stressed, even around level 50. I loved the ambiance the music and backgrounds created. I couldn't put it down and it's the first mobile game I've beaten in a long while and I beat it in just a few days. Excellent game and perfect for mobile! Thank you!

Amazing. Just utterly amazing. I can't even begin to express my gratitude for someone finally making a cool puzzle game with awesome graphics, smooth textures, free gameplay, no in app purchases, and most of all, not freaking impossible levels that make it impossible to continue and just wastes data. So thank you. And to anyone needing a little shove for this game, should it cost money, I would say do it. The only close to remote problem I had was when I turned off my phone and then turned it back on, it would close the app and then I would have to restart the current gate I was working on. Overall, stunning graphics, 10/10 gameplay, and a story that compared to Destiny the game seems like the freaking Iliad. Recommend this game to anyone wanting a game that has an equal balance of thought, and action.

Incredibly addictive and beautiful
The game uses minimalist graphics, but they do it in such a way that it is absolutely gorgeous to look at all the patterns and movements..the synth soundtrack is amazing (if you already played last voyage then you know how good these guys are with their musical scores)...the controls are simple to pick up, but the game demands some skill as it progresses..I've loved playing every minute of it, and I've honestly lost myself in it because I just can't put it down..I want to keep pushing forward to see the next eye candy and wondrous puzzle they have in store next!
Ps. I love how the achievements are actually neat little brain teasers that require some mathematical thinking....it fits perfectly with the games theme and story
