BimmerLink is the direct link to your BMW or MINI. Using one of the supported OBD adapters, you can read trouble codes or display sensor values in realtime, check the current state of the DPF in your car or register a new battery after replacement. BimmerLink even allows you to remotely control the exhaust flap or mute the Active Sound Design in your car.

No aux battery support

I have a 2022 BMW X5 45e PEHV. It has two 12V batteries in the back. One 90Ah and one 50 Ah. I bought Bimmerlink so I could replace these batteries and register them with the car. You can do this with the larger battery but not the smaller auxiliary battery. Both batteries have Intelligent Battery Sensors but Bimmerlink doesn’t show anything related to the auxiliary battery. BMW mechanic wants over $100 to register this battery. If Bimmerlink can support the larger battery, why not the smaller?

Been wonderful the whole

I’ve had this app for a few years now and every time I have ever had an issue (which is only been twice) has been responded fast, always a solution. I recommend this to anyone with a bmw. Definitely get the CarPlay add on I love seeing all the information I chose in the screen 5 stars

Exhaust flap control

Most things on this app work but the exhaust flap control gives a message “control of the exhaust flap requires the engine to be running and the vehicle stationary” in my 2026 G82, even when the car is running and stationary (in park). I tried in the app and also paid the extra $10 to be able to try in CarPlay. Neither way works. Dissatisfied!

Not many dashboard options for 2009 BMW X5 but immeasurably good for diagnostic codes

Practically useless for the dashboard options I bought it for, but even better than ISTA+ for diagnostic codes & resetting after clearing codes. Dives deeper than ISTA+ & no laptop needed. BimmerCode is not as useful as ProTools, but definitely recommend BimmerLink. 👍

Cost me more than it helped

Bought the app with a recommended OBD from the list of recommended. App connected and load successfully with app sub. The sole purpose was to enable and disable service mode for brake job. That was my main and only purpose for this service.

I tried activating service mode for nearly 3 minutes and it wouldn’t do it. Just errors from the app. But when you hit deactivate it surely did that lol, weird. It says deactivated successfully. It was not in service mode and you don’t hear the motor running. I did the basic troubleshooting disconnect the OBD from car. Deleting the app etc.

start playin with it again and same thing it would not activate device mode only errors errors errors until I hear the motor start winding after multiple attempts. It still did not pull that piston back. We had to resort to manual work disconnecting the EPB actuator & plug then fight to wind the part in. Took us sometime. The job is done mechanically with my park brake not working and for 2 days since buying the sub the app is no help activating nor deactivating. I disconnect battery for 15, tried button steps nothing works. Reset impossible on dash for rear.

Had high hopes, but disappointed.

I bought this to do brake service on front and back brakes of my 2020 bmw 22i gran coupe xDrive (f44). I tried to reset service counter that said I still had 800 miles. Failed. Can’t reset from this app. Tried to set rear brakes in service mode, I heard them retract but app said it failed that too. I changed the rears and elected to take out of service mode and that surprisingly was successful. Tried to reset service counter for the rears and it also failed. So now I have to take it to my mechanic on my upcoming oil change to have him reset those. I’m disappointed! This experience was horrible. It doesn’t even show a battery registered to my car… what gives?!

As of the last release the OBDlink CX no longer works. It’s worked for years!

The decide still works with the OBDlink app, so appears to be Bimmer specific.

Do Not Purchase

I purchased this app after buying the required connection cables so I could add CarPlay to our BMW X3. Only AFTER purchasing and downloading and paying another $9.99 for CarPlay in app feature, does it state you need CarPlay already available on your vehicle. The app also is tricky to get connected to the vehicle. This app and the videos online that demo it are very deceiving. I’ve requested a refund from Apple. Waste of $50. Even if Apple refunds that money, I am out $40 which I paid for the cables. . Do Not Purchase.

2020 BMW X5 G05 i40 xdrive Battery Replacement

Worked exactly as advertised to help me replace my battery.

6 year old OEM AGM battery probably near the end of its life. (Check top of your negative pole for date of manufacture)

Researched and found Interstate produces batteries for BMW and was the manufacturer of the one the dealer had in stock.

Found, based on OEM printed battery specs on existing battery, exact replacement from Interstate, MTX-49/H8 AGM battery. Group size is H8, but measure yours and compare to online measurements of replacement)

Purchased OBDLink CX off Amazon. Purchased Bimmer Link and tested both for connectivity and working before touching battery.

Removed rear panels and simple pop fasteners before leaving for Interstate Store.

Purchased battery and remove/replace in 10 minutes in parking lot. 8mm socket and extension for hold down bracket. 10mm socket for poles.

New battery was 95ah instead of exiting 90ah. Also more CCA. Selected NO on Bimmerlink when asked if battery was the same spec. Was told I needed to code new battery with Bimmercode. Downloaded Bimmercode and determined 95ah not a choice to code (90 or 105).

Googled BMW forums and 90-95 is a minuscule difference and does not need to be recoded (hence why not a choice)

Closed Bimmercode and registered battery as same spec on Bimmerlink, no problems. Correct mileage in km appears and charge jumped from 88-100%.

Traded in core for credit and closed up compartment.

A battery of like spec was available from Costco and cheaper. Also a Duralast which was $50 cheaper. I choose to go with Interstate as they are one of many that build for BMW and the tech confirmed he/they sell to local dealers. Produced in Mexico and built to their spec.

Great all around tool

Aside from regular fault code display and clearing, this app can display many different sensor and temperature values. However, it will depend on your car whether or not the app will display certain sensor readouts. Bimmerlink also has the ability to register a new battery, saving a lot of headache and making it very convenient. You can also reset various service intervals. It even works on an older iphone (7) I had laying around that i can now dedicate for this app (future updates will probably change this, but still a nice option to repurpose an old phone). Connectivity worked perfectly with one of the recommended adapters (VeePeak BLE in my case, which was very cheap on Amazon).

Overall, this is not just a generic code reader, but a useful tool that will ultimately save you a lot of money and you don’t need to be a mechanic to use it.

Fantastic app just wish it had options to calibrate the rain light sensor and kafas/mpad cameras for post windshield replacement. Unless I just couldn’t find that option but still 5star.

This app saved me $$$!!

I was initially skeptical about spending $40 on the app, but I decided to give it a shot—and I’m glad I did. My headlight issue was caused by a low beam short circuit. I was able to reset it through the app, and the problem was immediately resolved. On top of that, all my check control systems were showing red, and even a shop couldn’t reset them. I did it instantly with the app. Definitely a 5/5 experience—I’m super happy with it!

I took my car to the dealership with a Check Engine lot on as it was also due for service. When I picked it up, they told me to scan the car to diagnose what’s wrong cost $195 and take an hour. Purchased on my iPhone for diagnostics on wife’s car (don’t want to hold onto her phone all afternoon getting it greasy and what not). Bad experience

Purchased app to hopefully get faster reading for diagnosing my vehicle. 2005 5 series. It says in the description that my car is compatible basically just readjng the batterh and clearing codes not a single point of actual data then i go to switch over to my other vehicle and it will not let me connect even manually connecting my phone to the dongle before opening the app i would assume it is some sort of way to keep you using it on your friends vehicles. I have 7 cars so if thats the case it is really a terrible design because i know i am definitely not the only person with more than one BMW.

be careful downloading this app. They charge me $40 for nothing. I didn’t even use the app yet. All I did was download it and a few days later I got billed $40 for no reason I didn’t pay for any service or any sub subscription with them and they still charged me for no reason at all.

Not impressed

Just bought this app, and paid the 50$ for the expert bimmercode app so I could reprogram my battery. App is telling me the charge is 28% and will not register correctly. Battery is brand new bought last night and tested at 98%. Unless bimmerlink addresses whatever issues they have I would not recommend this app nor recommend spending the money on it.

my town got hit with a bad hurricane and it made an emergency call system malfunction pop up on my dash that was very annoying and i’ve been dealing with it for 4 months now. i saw this app a few times but thought to my self “ it can’t possibly get rid of this error message”. but i tried it today and what do you know , the error was cleared. that saved me $600 at the bmw shop. Lacking Some Fundamental Data

Tried several times to change units from metric to English in the settings. This does NOT work. Changed every parameter one at a time to English but nothing changed inside the app for sensors or dashboard.

Error codes do not include a time/date stamp or mileage , both of which the car has available. No idea where the dataflow is breaking but this is table stakes fir troubleshooting.

PLEEEEZE fix these things.

CarPlay App disconnects and bugs out the selector

Purchased the app solely for CarPlay compatibility and when it works it’s satisfactory. When it doesn’t work, you have to quit CarPlay, reconnect the iPhone app and relaunch the CarPlay app which is very dissatisfying. Also, I’ve noticed on multiple occasions that while using the CarPlay app, the selector window that I use in conjunction with the dial mouse in the middle console will disappear forcing me to use the touch screen or restart the car or my phone. Also, the app never remembers what Bluetooth adapter you connected to last and makes you reconnect every time you get in the car which is annoying.

Failed to clear error codes

It read error codes from 2007 X5. Claimed to successfully clear them. It did not.

Error codes were never cleared even after multiple clearings.

It’s worked for another F30 in the past.

Saved me money!

I used this to register a new battery in my 2017 Mini Clubman. It worked flawlessly! The dealer wanted around $400 to replace and register the battery. If I bought a battery elsewhere and replaced it myself, they would charge $100 to register it. I bought the battery at Costco for $170 (same specs) and registered it myself. It worked great with a VEEPEAK BLE+ Bluetooth 4.0 OBD II scan tool that I already had.

CarPlay add-on is nearly worthless.

App itself is great and easy to use. The $10 CarPlay add-on, however, is next to worthless. It will list sensor values on the CarPlay screen, but you can’t view the gauge dashboard until updates are allowed by Apple apparently. I’d assume most people who want CarPlay functionality want the gauges displayed like they are in the app.

Electronic Parking Brake Service Mode is not working

It is decent app for modern BMW but it does everything it states except EPB service mode. Failure message pops up “The Service Mode can’t be activated” diagnostic mode activated, foot on brake, parking brake disengaged. All conditions have met. There are no manual, instructions and troubleshoot. I emailed support but they gave all informations I already know. I pad almost $43 including tax. I’m not sure if it is worth it. Maybe it is better to invest money on good obd2 scanners.

Great App! Carplay needs lots of improvement

Love this app for what it costs. Has a lot of great features. The carplay feature however should be free. It only shows sensor values. You cannot interact with any of the vehicles settings, which would really what make the 10$ worth it. Please enable exhaust flap control in carplay!!! It would be sick to use the touchscreen to toggle it open and closed.

Docking 2 stars for the carplay feature as it too limited for what it costs.

Unacceptable $9.99 option

The main app is generally ok probably I’d give it like 3-4 stars, although limited and sometimes it cannot clear some errors or infos. But, I want to complain about this $9.99 carplay option: I cannot believe they have released such a crappy $9.99 option. This would not be acceptable even for free. It’s basically just a small list which takes forever to connect initially, then does not update properly but rather like every 10-20 seconds. When you switch from the app to say home screen or music or something else it disconnects and you have to go through the whole process again... all this while you’re driving... not to mention the information on the list is so small you can barely notice the parameters while driving... and it costs $9.99… in 2024… I’m genuinely impressed how they have failed us so bad and I wonder who was the persom that finally gave it the green light to deploy this thing :|

It worked like a charm

I have to admit, I was very apprehensive using it after reading the reviews. I used it with the Veepak OBD and it connected right away. I registered the new battery for my 2017 X6. Simple enough and totally worth the money.

Doesn’t work for me

I paid for the app, it will not connect to my mg flasher Bluetooth WiFi I’ve tried uninstalling, reinstalling. Have sent a email with no reply back. Not to mention lost $40. Can someone from support reach out and fix this problem? I have no problems calling the bank again. They reversed it, I setup my new debit card to Apple Pay for y’all to take the $40 again but I still have no access. C’mon now this is robbery. I either want the app to work or my money back.

Connection errors and no description

While I generally give good reviews to Bimmercode, Bimmerlink is not the same league. So far, I needed it for two things, on a 2019 X3 and it basically didn’t do either. Register battery is the first, and it was always saying “connection error, tap screen again”. Finally, I tried it with the X3 running and it connected. Hit Register battery button, it asks if battery is the same, I click no, Register….and nothing. Simply shows percent charge and Ah setting. No mileage, no indication that battery is registered!! Terrible software. After changing the battery, I have a CEL. Run the “Permanent Errors” and it shows 2 in Motor Electronics. Press that and it gives two codes, no description or anything, just numbers. Very disappointed.

Bought to register a new 12 volt battery on my i3.

Seemed a bit extreme to spend over $30 for the app but worked well to register the new battery and clear some error codes. Probably will download the Bimmercode app next.

Do Not Recommend! Full of Lies

I have a G80 M3 and I downloaded Bimmerlink for only one reason and it was to open the valves. I emailed Bimmerlink and they said the valve function works on the G80s so I said I’ll buy the app just for that.

I have the enet cable which works perfectly fine with Bimmercode. Out of more than 30 tries (literally) and continuous troubleshooting Bimmerlink only connected once. I am not able to connect to the app at all after that one attempt. I even emailed Bimmerlink and no reply from them. By the way, that one time I did connect the valve function didn’t even work for my car. I felt deceived. I have opened a case with apple to refund my money. If apple doesn’t do it right then I’ll do a charge back. Not paying for something that doesn’t work.

Registering Mini Battery

Replaced the battery on my 2013 Mini Cooper S

After I replaced it, plugged in the supported adapter and the app connected flawlessly.

Registering the battery took about 1 minute from connecting.

Very user friendly, lots of options to tweak around. Make sure you check the website for supported vehicles and adapters that you have to acquire separately.

Misleading support, no updates

Website says they support all MINI, i3, and i8 so you’d assume it supports the MINI Cooper SE - it does not. I emailed months ago asking about this and they said sorry, we’re working on it. I doubt they are sorry now that they have a $30+ sale and don’t have to refund on support it. Really frustrating situation since no updates are inbound and the app is next to useless for the vehicle.

E93 Hardtop issues solved

I ran down my battery with the hardtop midway open. I was able to manually open and close, but not with the button. After resetting the CTM codes, the top works great! Money well spent.

Perfect for sensor and data monitoring. Worth every penny

I was looking for a good data logging and sensor monitoring app. This one hits on all levels. Perfect for what I needed plus a few extras included. Highly recommended. I run the app on iOS with MHD WiFi F series black adapter. No issues so far.

You are better off with Bimmercode

Bimmerlink, easy to use and have the configuration option that most people are looking for: turning off ASD, turning off popping noise and keep exhaust valves open or close.

The problem? once you turn off your car, all those settings are reset. You have to do it again the next day, connect to the OBDII port, put your settings in the app and start the car. Pay 30$ for this? No. Bimmercode cost the same and settings are not rested every time you turn off the car

Lifesaver

This app saved me hard twice now. First, when I was replacing my 328i’s exhaust valve actuator and then replacing my rear brake pads since you need to retract the electronic parking break fully in order to push the caliper piston back without wrecking things. Definitely worth the purchase if you service your own vehicle

Great Tools For Bimmer

I haven’t have no problems whatsoever with this amazing app. I love all the features and option that had been added lately. A scanner tool, service reset and coding… great app for half of what other is charging. Pay one time and never worry about yearly fee.

Did nothing for me but waste my time

I bought the app and it did nothing, empty screen with no sensors to add, nowhere to be found. I contacted support and they acted quickly sending me this BETA app link to download which I did, the result was the same, no sensors to add so the app is EMPTY, nothing to measure for my 2004 BMW 5 Series. I will try to get a refund from Apple on this app as suggested by Bimmer technician. Wish me luck, I have my screenshots and emails to backup my complaint.

Incorrect readings

Genuinely love the app, it’s simple and sleek and easy to use but when it comes to reading the boost it seems to be off the correct chart by 15 PSI. I’m tuned at 20psi for now and I’ve used other apps and softwares to see which one is wrong and the rest all read around 20 but BimmerLink shows me averaging 30-35psi which would blow my motor and turbo since it can only handle max 26 at the moment. Couldn’t find a email to contact customer service about this.

THE GREATEST BMW APP

The app is very easy to setup and use. It is a great compliment to BimmerCode. I have both apps and the both have different functions. BimmerLink is for clearing any fault codes and BimmerCode is to changing how my car functions like lights coming on and how doors and windows are locked. They both have there on vital functions and are both great app’s. I wasn’t able to see faults in BimmerCode so that’s where BimmerLink comes in handy. They both work with my ODB2 adapter VGate Pro Bluetooth 4.0. So I’ve got the best of both worlds with one adapter. Both apps can be setup for what you want to see of your most desired functions. BimmerLink thanks for a Great App!!!

Great App!

This is a very useful app that can save you many dollars in dealer cost. Using it just to register a battery change can save you a couple hundred bucks if your willing to spend half an hour changing it yourself. Grab BimmerCode too for the ability to customize many of the features on your car.

Worth every penny.

App is great. Easy to use. Way easier than downloading sketchy software and lugging out a laptop. I have emailed the developers twice and both times heard back within a day. Hopefully they update with the ability to service the rear brake pads soon.

A must have app

I purchased this app mainly to register my new battery. I was also able to clear error codes that I didn’t know I had. Well worth the money. The dealership wanted $200 and local shop $140 just to register the battery.

Heard a lot of negative and positive reviews from this app but the fact is that it is definitely worth the price. I am able to open the flaps on my 2013 E70 and it makes the car sound amazing. Also noticed that they provide US units like mph and Fahrenheit which is very useful.

Weak app and they don’t stand behind it.

*WARNING* BimmerLink incapable of keeping the exhaust flap in an open state.

I purchased the BimmerLink app specifically to keep the exhaust flap open on my new 2020 X3 M40i without disconnecting wires or other crude methods. It bothers me to start up that nice car and see exhaust only coming out of the passenger side tail pipe. It makes the whole car seem fake and cheapens the overall appeal. I thought BimmerLink was an elegant solution to my problem. I was initially happy to see that flap finally open for the first time, but was VERY disappointed to see it revert to closed again. Then I realized that you have to open your iPhone, start BimmerLink, connect to the OBD device, select the flap control option and open the flap every time you get in the car. Really? I thought these supposedly smart guys who write BimmerCode would come up with something a LOT better than this weak app for that amount of money. Lots of fluff and no substance. Very disappointed in this app, and they keep your money!

Satisfied

I have been a very frustrated Carly user for a few years now. All I really need from one of these ODB apps is fault identification, fault clearing, reports of same, and battery registration.

Carly would not register the battery for my i3. And everything else it does has become more like a video game than a helpful diagnostic tool.

BimmerLink does it all much more simply and easily than any other app I have found. Including a simple battery registration. I hope Bimmerlink keeps it simple and reliable. Anything in these apps that can be done to help diagnose faults in a car is good, if the app has features that get in the way of that, it is bad, and I don’t want to buy it. I’m troubleshooting cars, not app programming.

Great app

This app does exactly what it should. It lets you clear errors, play with the exhaust flap and ASD, look at sensor values yes they are in Celsius and the like but I don’t mind. Maybe they will update it to Fahrenheit in the future. But I don’t mind. It’s super easy to use. And they updated to to English. So even better. All the people that gave it negative reviews cause some of it was in German are just crybabies.

Well put together but I don't read german

Buyer beware, the app seems like it's in English but to read any of the gauges or trouble codes, you must read german. 27 bucks to control my exhaust flap is not worth it to me.

Update: The developers have now translated most app functions to English. I am keeping this at 3 stars due to lack of ability to change between Celsius and Fahrenheit or MPH and KPH.

Outstanding

This is a must have for BMW owners. The list of what this can read with your OBD dongle is incredible. Frankly it gives too much information. BMWs are computers on wheels with multiple excuses, each one capable of tons of info. If you want basic info, you have that too. I believe there’s enough info picked up to keep you busy hunting down what it all means for months.

Pretty Solid

This is a pretty solid app for clearing codes, I use Carly as well and this one is much faster and smoother. Well worth the price Only one issue is all codes are in German, you will have to copy text and translate to English. I emailed the developer and there hopefully will be a English version sometime in the future. Pick up a Vgate WiFi gen 3 adapter off eBay to use this app and you’re good to go.
