Lot of improvements

I’e tried lot of navigation apps primarily my focus is offline maps due to data plan limitations. With increased traffic in Atlanta I stared looking for apps with good traffic information. With recent release from MagicEarth i completely turned back to this app. Maps are smoothly moving at any speed. Traffic and other mode of transportation support. All again without Ads. Good work guys. Not sure how you guys making money, but thanks for all.

Nice!

Considering this is a free app.... AMAZING! Ive seen other apps trying to charge $50+ for features like CarPlay and HUD. Love the app.

One recommendation. If you're plugged into CarPlay, the HUD should come up on your phone screen and the map should come up on the car’s screen, not the other way around.

Find locations elsewhere

The search function is HORRIBLE! If you put in a general name, of say, a restaurant, it doesn’t come up with locations near you, if at all...even though I know there are several. If you put in an exact address, it is a great app.

Way too complicated to start

I really do not like that I have to download the entire state of California. That is a huge amount amount of space. I don’t need it offline. I just need to input the address and go. Trying to leave Waze due to its recent unreliability, and this close but there yet.

Teetering on the brink of greatness.

As someone who likes to drive for fun, Magic Earth is phenomenal. The combination of topo data with satellite imagery looks stunning on my carplay display, and makes finding winding hillclimbs and valley switchbacks a joy. It is so close to being all-conquering I don't want the following criticism to dissuade anyone from trying it. Download it. It's stunning. That said...

There are some minor things that drive me nuts:

- I can't access the settings menu while plugged into carplay. Yeah safety etc but even while stationary I can't seem to, for example, change map type without un-carplaying and going to the menu.

- The route numbers on roads are TINY! The road names are a squiggly font. Not readable.

- I wish it could store more data on my device for using satellite and topo map. I have a top end iPhone, I'd happily assign 50gb to this app but alas, it is capped at like... 3gb? It's not 2012 anymore.

- A real-time compass would be welcome. Not just showing "N" when you are going north, but a proper compass. Compasses are good.

Great Graphics

Likely the best graphics of the IOS mapping software with CarPlay. For some reason the speed displayed on CarPlay is about half the real driving speed. When not on CarPlay the speed on iPhone is correct.

Trouble avoiding ferry between maryland and virginia

When i turn on avoid ferries for car. The ferry is still not being avoided on the route when i start the route calculation

Awesome app

And best thing is that it can be used offline and it shows me how steep the terrain is by the way you can move the angle so hiking trips are is easier for me so I can avoid very steep hills..I love it and thank you for making this app.keep up the great work.

Excellent App. I recently purchased my second and last Rand McNally, great devices but they keep shutting off. This app would get 5 Stars and if I had to purchase I would only if it was a commercial truck friendly app. It would be nice to set this up with settings like truck Max weight limits, height limits for Bridges, restricted routes or roads, construction zones, etc..

Beautiful experience even offline

This app brings a great fluid navigation experience similar to Apple's own maps app, but also adds the ability to download and take full maps with you offline.

The only good say about this apps that it precisely shows your location. It can’t find anything on city maps.

A decent Navi app with a little thing off

I have tried different offline map navigation app, and this is by far the best I have found in my opinion. I don’t need to pay some sort of “premium” for some unworthy features like traffic or lane assistance (like Sygic). Or there might be some commercial popping up when I need to navigate. It really is free and easy to use.

The only problem I have encountered so far is that it sometimes guides me to frontage road and back to freeway when there is no heavy traffic or accidents along the freeway. That’s really bizarre. This could be misleading in some ways. The developer team need to find out why it happened and fix it. Because it would cause unnecessary wasting time.

I absolutely love this but

I do have 1 tiny suggestion.can you make trails a different color and easier to see.even completely zoomed in it’s hard for my eyes to see them.maybe using the color red would be the best for all trails..hopefully you will take my suggestion but in the meantime great app.

Best OSM client. 🗺

Tried a few openstreetmap iOS client, this one is the best so far. Reliable, rarely crashes. It has terrain view, which is rare for an OSM client. The maps look contemporary which can't be said about some of the others which look like a street directory from the 70's. Criticism: Should have a map data tool to send missing or erroneous information to the OSM project. Being 'on the ground', works best. Without this, most people would forget or not bother with using openstreetmap.org on a computer, when they get home!

Top1 in Class

I have been using this company’s navigation in nearly 20 countries and 6 United States since 2007 (Route66, Navigate and finally Magic Earth). The good part is the city center and suburban roads selected by the application are always reasonable and had the best views in a touristic road trip. It is the excellent and number 1 application for navigation. I wish Safety Lens could be used without extra hardware with only camera and internet connection.

Excellent Program and Versatile Map Library

I have used this application in many countries.

This is an excellent program that you can use off-line by downloading Maps for the country or region you need.

Unlike some programs, you can be more specificabout which maps to download so that you do not fill up your iPhone with much larger maps than you need.

You should remove that "magnifier-cloud" icon from search bar, because it's ugly and confusing, or just change it to simple magnifier icon like it's in Spotlight. And I still hope to see some kind of simple widget, as soon as possible.

There are much better map apps...

Trying out this app I used my home address and that of my sister in Indiana. Showed a trip distance of 754 miles...I'm in Idaho...You do the math. Plus it couldn't find a good, known address/street and doesn't even list the city that address/street is in, although it does have a map of the state in question...and it's a good sized city in that state.

Not sre I'd trust this app to get me across the street, let alone cross country.

I'll stick with my old standby and much better travel app. ... Waze out!!

Excellent App.....Except

I have tried several free navigation apps and this one is so close to being perfect. There are two things missing and were worth loosing a star. One is the app doesn't announce the exit number and the second being junction view which is so helpful in an unfamiliar city. I would gladly pay for those two things if offered. Add those and this would be a 10 star app in my book. Map rendering is great, Integration with contacts is seamless.

I'm not sure what the PRO version adds which I believe is "perpetual" for 19.99. Developers might want to add the difference between those on the overview.

My area has just completed adding new bridges and road work which were opened up about 3 months ago that aren't on the maps. So I'm unsure how often maps are updated.

Best of the Best

I have tried and own just about every GPS app that exists and none of them compare to Magic Earth, even the expensive paid ones. The maps are powered by Open Street Maps so they are great, and just keep getting better, the more editors get involved. The offline performance is great and the terrain and satellite modes are really cool. The developer keeps updating and adding features and the Advanced Driver Assistance System is amazing!

Great when it finds an address

Updated app is slightly better. Voices are back, which is a big plus. But it still fails to find any addresses I try to type in. And rather than saying it can't find, it just takes you to closest match (which sometimes is not in the same town!)

I have found if I can get the GPS coordinates of an address, I can save the location as a favorite. Then navigation works fairly well. But that's not very useful especially if you are trying to get somewhere quickly.

Best navigation based on osm

It's best navigation app based on OSM maps, the only problem I sow is that it can't show all Persian characters in the map. It's better to use standard font of iPhone to solve this problem.

Dont waste your time "Not So Magic Earth" app

POS wasted an hour downloading two states then failed first time i tried to route from my position or home to a new address -app kept saying "cannot route, check waypoints". No mayter what addresses i tried it failed. It gets a negative 5 stars...stay with google maos abd forget these third party pooper expirements!

Great offline map solution for travel

The app has a great mapping UI that seems familiar if you use Google or Apple maps. It also has per country and US state offline map downloads which is really handy when traveling out of your home country. Uses Openstreetmaps for data which needs some love in the US but is better than google in Europe and certainly better than Apple maps in most places.

Good UI, needs improvement

I am giving this 4 stars as it has a great UI and does its job getting you where you need to go. However, it definitely needs improvement in finding addresses. Very few times have I been able to include the house number and instead only gives me the street which could be far away from desired location

Does not work with Apple triangulation location

Many mapping apps work using Apple's built in location WiFi triangulation without the need for a built-in GPS. This app does not workwith the iPad that has no built-in actual GPS device. So it is useless for me. It has great potential. If it should be configured to use all available location information provided by Wi-Fi locators I could use it and give it some stars. Also, if Apple was not so stupid to block bluetooth external GPS devices, I could use my external GPS.

Fantastic!!!

As a long tome Garmin User, I looked for a comparable navigation app that would offer what I was accostomed to with Garmin (a Stand Alone Nuvi Device), then I came across this app after trying a a handful of others.

This is an excellent navigation app, period, it has a premium feel to it and has proven very accurate as well as easy to use.

I reccomend it!!
