An underrated album

I definitely recommend this album as a long time Muse fan. My favorite songs are Reapers, Defector, Psycho, The Handler, and The Globalist. I’m also a guitar player and looove the guitar stuff in this album. It’s awesome! People get to stuck on Muse’s old stuff and fail to appreciate how great a lot of the new albums are.

Muse’s identity

Nothing wrong with experimenting, but I believe Muse is at their best as a harder rock band, like in this album.

Great Album!

I’ll break this down song by song,
Dead Inside- Pretty solid song! I love the vocals and the dark riffs with just a hint of funky synth! Kinda makes me feel like I’m watching the Panic Station vid. 8/10
Psycho- Okay, so I love the song itself! It’s INCREDIBLY CATCHY, and the guitar and vocals are superb, but I’m a little bummed out about the cussing. Come on guys! You’re Muse! You don’t need to hide behind language! 6/10
Mercy- As a pianist, I love this song. The bright piano, fun vocals and decisive guitar is pretty awesome! 7/10
Reapers- NOW WE’RE TALKING! As someone who has grown up with rock, I absolutely love the dark guitar riffs, crazy solos and kick butt vocals! By far the best song in the album! 11/10
The Handler- This song is by no means my favorite, but I think that the guitar and Van Halen type feel really does add a lot to the song! 7/10
Defector- I have loved this song since I first heard it! The dark guitar and lyrics combined with the hints of funk make this such a fun song! 7/10
Revolt- Ehhhh, not really my think. Everything just sort of feels unfinished, and I think the song could have been much better. Everything just feels so mediocre, and not what I expect from Muse. 5/10
Aftermath- This was always a song that I would skip over in my Ipod, but once I got used to it I realized that it is actually really beautiful! Almost makes me cry, actually. 7/10
The Globalist- I used to be really intimidated by this song. 10 minutes!? Wow! But one day it came on and I was to lazy to change it, and by the end I was humming along! The beginning is a little slow, but it really does feel like a work of art! I love every bit of it. 10/10
Drones- Ehhh, I have mixed feelings about this song. Choir has always kinda been my thing, and I do think that the harmonies are LEGIT, but part of it feels sort of hollow. Maybe it’s just me. 5/10

Waiting....

There are very few bands that can crank out multiple great albums, but Muse is one of them. I stumbled upon this band while studying for exams and downloading music on my iPod. Starlight was in the top 100 list, so I bought it to add to my playlist. From there, I just kept listening to their songs, buying albums and never get tired of their music. There is a song for every mood, from Psycho to Invincible. I'm patiently waiting for their next album now that they have released 2 singles.

A Review

In terms of lyrics and concept, does Drones fall flat? Maybe a little - their political and social commentary was not necessarily unoriginal, but within its own album, it was somewhat trite. But then again, it is a concept album - and even then, as (ignoring the concept) an album, it was amazingly done. Each of its tracks was arranged well both "plot"- and sound-wise; it was extremely cohesive, and its production (as well as, of course, Matt Bellamy's delivery of its lyrics) did that justice. As such, I personally would not listen to singular tracks on Drones - the complete experience is so much more rewarding, and rewarding it is for certain. As a long-time Muse fan, I am definitely not disappointed!

Great ALBUM, not single

To all the people who rated the album because of the song "psycho", just stop listening to music in general, you don't deserve it, I wasn't a fan of psycho when I heard but when the album came out, i listened to the whole thing and it made psycho irrelevant compared to the rest of the album, but I'm actually really starting to like the single

Muse is my love

Muse is one of my favorite bands, and this band has written some excellent music. This album is one of the best ones they have ever written. I am a huge muse fan and I give this album full stars because of the creative flow of the music and the message that goes with it.

Wow

A brilliant story painted with words. Muse has outdone themselves by painting a narrative, with words and sounds never heard before. The story begins with the protagonist feeling dead inside, and depressed as he suffers in camp to become the governments tool, which he does, in reapers. He snaps out of his trance to fight back, only to be tortured. He pleads for mercy but is shown none as he is further tormented and broken. He escapes, to eventually make his killing spree of revenge on the twisted oppressors that did him wrong. The story ends by him destroying everything, the corrupt world he called home, as it was the right thing to do. He reflects finally in the short close to the album, the mini song Drones. I was moved by this album, I hope you are (p.s this is my interpretation, and I believe he did have a lover as he always seems to be talking to someone).

after listening to this album for many months after its full release, I feel like I have many things to say about it, and accurate things at that! let me just go song by song---
dead inside- great rock song!! love the powerful ending where the narrator has his realization!! but, after a few months I have gotten a little tired of it.
9/10
psycho- good song, but I wish they didn't include as much of the explicit language. but this song is amazing if you're looking for an interesting and demanding song. 9/10
mercy- LOVE this song!! I love the chorus!! great guitar elements! 10/10
reapers- hard rock right here!!! love the electronic elements! not much more to say!! 10/10
the handler- definitely my favorite song from the album!! hard rock and very dramatic!!! I totally recommend this!! 12/10
defector- pretty good!! it is very repetitive though. I get tired of it. 8/10
revolt- more of an upbeat, happy song. very dramatic! 10/10
aftermath- very sweet song!! love this one!! 10/10
globalist- has a great story!! not much to say. 9/10
drones- one of my favorite!!! I absolutely love this song!! it is beautiful!! 10/10
overall, I give this album a 9.5/10!!

I love it.

So, I saw them on their North American Drones tour and I’ve come to the conclusion that this album was made to b played live. The production sounds like they do live and I’m pretty sure the whole drones concept exists because Muse wanted to have flying things in their live shows (yes, there were drones flying around the arena and it was awesome). With that said, the album is awesome. It’s not as good as OOS or Absolution but it’s definitely awesome. The lyrics are a bit corny and maybe cliche sometimes but really, why should anyone care? No one should be listening to this kind of music of they prefer lyrics over the music. Theres a reason “Knights Of Cydonia” has very few lyrics. If you're a Muse fan, why don’t you already have it? If you're not a Muse fan, however, I would suggest you start somewhere else.

Great album! Love the heavier style!!

My girlfriend got me into them awhile back, so I started listening to them from the very beginning and up to their second most recent 2nd Law album. I thoroughly enjoyed the good majority of what I heard enough to call myself a Muse fan. I was very excited when I found out they were coming out with a new release. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE DIRECTION THEY’RE GOING!!! I love how they have focused more on implementing instrumentation as the main aspect to this album, in a heavier style no less. I will say though: why do people get offended if they decide to use some more adult language in a song or two? Did people forget how they slipped the F word into Panic Station? I believe this album is 10 steps forward for them!!…although this is coming from someone who likes hard rock and metal as well.

Pretty Darn Good

Not their best, but the best in a long time. Not sure I am a fan of the Rock Opera undertones (love how the "Globalist" starts but not in love with the end) but the guitar work in some of these songs might be some of Matt's best. Love "Psyco", "Reapers", "The Handler" and the beginning of "Globalist". Glad to hear more of Matt's falsetto too.

Brilliant Album - Every Song

Fantastic album. As always, it takes a sitting or two to appreciate a new score (and this is a score, telling a story, with each song influencing the next; not an album). Drones is true to Muse's nature, style and themes from earlier works - a mix of genre's (pop, electronic, alternative, hard rock, classical) and eclectic imagery. And political - if you didn't know that already, then you haven't been listening to them long or know any of their albums. They command a method of combining genres that works to define them uniquely. In several riffs you can pick up previous 'Musisms' from earlier efforts, whilst remaining original. Personally, the heavier pieces on the guitar are the best for me, the drumming is spot on and a bit more complex this time and the bass is definitely more dynamic - tight act all the way around. For those of you that are offended by the profanity of one song's lyrics referring to the war machine, reflecting several previous and current human conflicts (assuming that you do not live in a shell ...),then you might want to check out the best of Elmo and listen to something else. That is the point - the profanity of war. Makes me wonder if you are one of the folks that jump up and down in favour of conflict, but have never been actually affected by such - or even the (oh my gosh) 'bad language'. Please crawl back into your closet .... And reference to Marilyn Manson (alternative rock), NickelBack (pop-rock) and Nine Inch Nails (industrial rock) - what are you smoking? - did you just blast a generalisation of the groups that you simply hold in personal contempt? They are nothing like each other, or Muse. Stop wasting people's time and get on over to the pre-school section before you realise that the world has some harsh realities. Drones is a brilliant album, reflecting Muse's vast musical talent and story-telling artistry. Judge it for that.

Where is Chris?!

After The 2nd Law, one of my big takeaways was Chris Wolstenholme's talent as a singer and songwriter. I love "Liquid State" and "Save Me," and was looking forward to hear what else he had to offer. Alas, I get none of that here. All I get is Matt Bellamy's pretentiousness, evident in full force with the inclusion of "Drones." What a completely unnecessary song. Dreadful. You're telling me there was space on the album for THAT and not for another song for Chris? Whatever. Setting this aside, I still have a gripe with the sound of Chris's bass on the album. There is no bottom to it! Dom's kick drum provides the most bass on the album! I thought at first that it was just my headphones, but after listening to the album again in my car, where I have a very bass friendly setup, I was even more diasppointed. Chris's bass is muddled by Matt's guitars and Dom's toms, which is a travesty considering Chris's talent as a bass player and the way his tone and riffs have been key tenents of the band's sound.
I chalk all of my complaints up to the producer. Why on earth did the band chose a producer who has produced anything relevant in almost three decades, and whose last producing credits including albums by Maroon 5, Nickelback, and Shania Twain? I prefer the sound and direction of the last two self-produced albums. The problem with Chris's bass tone is too much for me to overlook. The album just sounds WRONG without the heavy bass tone. Also, I have a problem with the flow of the album. The first two thirds are STELLAR. Those 6 songs (and the two dialogue snippets) are some of the BEST songs ever made by Muse, my problems with bass aside. However, those final four songs are terrible, and some of the WORST songs ever made by Muse. "Revolt" is trash. "Drones" is even worse. "Aftermath" does nothing for me, and "The Globalist" squanders the best riff of the album by having it build into nothing. Those opening 6 songs salvage the album, but I will never listen past "Defector" ever again.

Review, from a fan long since Showbiz!

I am longtime MUSE fan, have been since Showbiz and will continue to be one. I was a loyal fan even through 2nd law’s phase (cringes in fear of being stoned to death), which like every band/artist’s black history, a fan will hope will never repeat itself, ha ha ha ha. Anyway, I definitely recommend anyone who is thinking of adding it to their permanent collection, and is still dubious, to just get it. Do not think it anymore, just but it! The album is excellent, and if you are just like me, it will grow on you and long before you know it you will not want to stop listening to the songs, I mean for Christ’s sake, 2nd law grew on me, but I admit it did take me some time…a loooooong time, but I did learn to appreciate it. Anyways, enjoy, it, you will thank me later. bye!

let down

This album is just…trite. It’s just that Bellamy’s lyrics are so typical and the political theme inspiring the album is exhausting and overstated. Needless to say, my great anticipation of this album suddenly became a cliff of a let down when I heard it. I can’t sigh enough about this album. I wish I could get past the lyrics because there might be something there. idk. IMO, might have been better as an instrumental.

Fantastic

"Drones" is a great album. It's only flaws are mediocre lyrics and "Dead Inside". At first the album was pretty meh to me, but after a few listens, I'd decided that muse had done it again. The heavy fist pumping riffs in "Psycho", the face melting solos in "Reapers", the hauntingly beautiful falsetto and baselines of Matt and Chris in "The Handler". The Sequel to "Citizen Erased" from 2002's "Origin of Symmetry", "The Globalist", is Bellamy's masterpiece. It's a 10 min epic that tells the rise and fall of a dictator, through clean electric bends, a heavy riff that will give you chills, and a harmonic ending that can bring you to tears. Needless to say, Muse is back.

Excellent Album

First off, this is their hardest-hitting album in a long time. If you like their first 3 albums (Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry, Absolution), this album is a must-buy. There's no experimentation here, just guitar-driven rock. Dead Inside and Mercy are instant hits. Reapers is an infectious track reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine in their prime. Defector and Revolt are sure to be fan favorites at live shows. Matt delivers his best performances on guitar yet. This album is brilliant, powerful, and political. Hands down the best Rock album of 2015 so far, and one of the best Muse has ever released.

Masterful

Honestly, this is one of the best albums I have heard in years--from any band. Art should communicate a message; and this album certainly does that, condemning the dehumanizing effects of modern warfare. The line "our lives between your finger and your thumb" in the song "Drones" says it all, (I also appreciated the song because it's arranged as an a cappella Rennaissance Motet). The lyric-writing has been criticized for it's lack of subtlety; the criticism is misplaced, I believe. We've seen Muse produce refined, elegant lyrics before, therefore we have to listen to the album with the understanding that the "crass" lyrics were a deliberate artistic choice. With all this in mind, I'm going to put Drones down as one of the best albums of this decade. Buy it, listen critically, and form your own opinion. This album isn't just entertainment; it's art.

Good but not great, not great compared to other Muse stuff

It's not a bad album by any means.... The problem is that you've got to compare it to other muse albums, and it feels a bit... Bleh in that respect. It feels as though they didn't spend enough time on it- like they didn't spend the time making each song stand out, like they did in their other albums (resistance, origin of symmetry in particular). Going through the tracks- Dead Inside is a good opener, but feels like a big throwback to Undisclosed Desires without having the pazzaz of that song. I was disappointed by Psyco. The riff is pretty good, but I think Matt let us all down with the lyrics and the lack of change throughout the song. I was bored by it after the second listen. Mercy is like a throwback to Starlight, and a good one. I just wish they made the arpeggio synths more distinct. Nothing groundbreaking here, just a solid 8/10 song. Reapers. REAPERS. That song is THE song of the album. Worthy of all of the best stuff Muse has ever written... The tapping line is super cool, and the riff is solid (although the hissing of the word "drones" is just annoying, an older mix of the song had them yelling 'hey', which would have been better. I know this from one of their Instagram posts.). The solo is amazing- I remember when Matt said "guitar solos are for pussies"- I think he has proven himself wrong. The outro has lots of sounds... Too much maybe, but a great riff nonetheless. Reapers is the standout song of this album. Then you get The Handler, which is also an amazing song worthy of all of Muse's older stuff. The riff is catchy and it has an awesome big sound for the whole song. The bass line in the chorus is possibly the best baseline muse has ever written. The ascending and descending guitar line sounds cool, but 4 times over with little change might be a but repetitive. Otherwise, a wonderful piece of music. Defector could have been written by Queen and I wouldn't be surprised. That's a compliment. The riff is stupidly simple though. The melodic instrumental at 2:40 is so awesome- it's a pity that Muse didn't do more with it. The instrumental rendition of the verse at 3:04 is also just weird, feels like they just wanted to fill the time to make the song longer. Then you get Revolt- a song with an awesome verse and guitar solo but a letdown chorus that feels like it's straight out of a Disney movie. Aftermath is the first emotional song on the album. The into feels like a colab between Muse and Mark Knopfler, which is a good thing. It's a pretty good song. Then you get The Globalist- a ten-minute prog epic that has a good middle 6 minutes but an unnecessarily long intro and outro. I do like the intro, with the whistling, but it's just too long. The song itself isn't bad, but nothing new, and definitely not the sequel to Citizen Erased that it was meant to be. The last track, Drones, is a useless cacophony of voices that should have been an actual outro song, or they should have just left it at the Globalist. So what do we have? Nine pretty good songs, with a couple standouts and a couple let downs. That's normal- but not for Muse. Look at Resistance- every single song on that album is a standout song that is as good as only the best from Drones. Every other Muse album is like that, with the exception of Showbiz and Black Holes, each of which don't have more than one or two 'meh' songs (those albums also have three or four more songs each than Drones). I think this is Muse's weakest album yet, but it's not bad at all. It's a good record with good songs, it's just that the average quality of the songs needs to be higher for it to match with other Muse albums. Thus I gave this 3 stars- it's very good but not great, and not too impressive COMPARED to other Muse albums. Very impressive compared to the rest of the music scene, but not to the rest of Muse.
Good music only, plz
2015-06-24

Best album in years!

While other albums may have more standout songs/singles, "Drones" cannot be judged in that way. This is a concept album. A brilliant, glorious concept album. The story it tells is deep, heartbreaking, hopeful and has themes to open real dialogue about empathy and war. It is best listened to from beginning to end with no stopping or shuffling. A few standouts include "Dead Inside," the heavy tracks "Reapers" and "The Handler," and the prog Rock masterpiece, "The Globalist." Chris Wolstenholme's bass throughout "Drones" is heavy and dirty, and Matt Bellamy's guitar and voice have never sounded better.

disappointing

Not sure where all of this talk about 'Muse going back to their old sound' is coming from. This is nothing like Origin of Symmetry for which I have heard many comparisons. There is a lack of ‘rawness’ which made their old material great. There are some good songs but as a whole, the album just isn't nearly as impressive as you would expect. I personally didn’t start to get into it until the 5th and 6th tracks thinking okay it is going to get better now. I was disappointed that those songs were the high point for me and indeed the album did not get better from there. The 'drones' theme is too overtly in your face and it becomes old quickly. There are 10 songs here; one of which is hard for me to listen to (Revolt) due to an annoying chorus. I don’t mean to dog on the band because I find them to be extremely talented and were one of favorite bands about 10 years ago. As amazing as they are, I feel like they haven’t evolved their sound enough and have just kind of mailed this one in by relying on their talent alone. If they would have focused on a different concept we may well have been talking about a great album here instead of one that is 'good' by most standards and 'below average' by Muse standards.

A Return to Form

I've been a fan of MUSE since the beginning. No sugar-coating it, “The 2nd Law” was by far the lowest point of their musical career in my mind. Granted, it had a few decent tracks. I don't hold it against them however, as it was probably a result of too many record execs calling shots. “Drones” sounds so much more like a MUSE album: drum & bass driven rock with Matthew's amazing guitar & vocals laced over top. They did not go radio-friendly with this one other than “Mercy” which is still a solid track. The lyrics issue challenges to the status quo as well, insinuating that the military essentially breeds psychotic killers, that the rich and powerful seek only to oppress and control the vast majority of individuals, and that we all should be thinking a bit more globally rather than worrying exclusively about ourselves. This is a once-in-a-lifetime band and this album captures MUSE at their best. Buy it, see them play live, and continue to support these incredibly talented musicians.

Great to hear some harder riffs throwing back to the older stuff

Drones as a whole comes off as a more aggressive album than anything Muse has released in a while, but it feels like a natural follow up to Black Holes and Revelations and Origin of Symmetry. I like Matt's guitar sound a lot.
The same Euro flair and progressions that fans of The Resistance and 2nd Law are sitting underneath aggressive distortion and booming drums. The only reason I'm rating 4 rather than 5 stars is I dislike the interludes because I prefer an uninterrupted listening experience and choose not to focus on the political commentary but on the music as a whole.

Wow

Wow, what a surprise from Muse—another collection of songs about dystopia and how Muse band members are only ones who know anything about anything. Smug, arrogant, silly.

Way better than the 2nd Law

I've listened to every album this band ever put out and I must say its better than their last two albums. Even tho Knights of Cydonia is their top song I have a feeling we'll see them on top again. Cheers to Drones

Far From Muse's Best

Regrettably, this is Muse's laziest album so far.
The lyrics are terribly forced; often times making no attempt to rhyme or flow in any way. Matt's priority to create memorable, innovative, powerful music is ignored in favor of a subject matter he has already beat to death again and again.
The first half of the album is a copy and past rehash of their previous work while the second half is painfully dull.
Disappointing and weak on the side of Muse this time around.

DON'T BELIEVE BAD REVIEWS

I simply created this review to battle negative reviews and give this album a voice against what has been said against it.
(1) Anyone saying that this hard-rock-heavy album isn't real Muse CLEARLY never listened to their older albums. Plug In Baby, Stockholm Syndrome, and Map Of The Problematique ringing any bells?
(2) Muse has a drill sergeant that drops the F bomb. OH NO MUSE IS CORRUPT. But seriously, it's not even Matt cussing. Obviously this song is AGAINST that type of behavior. And it's not like every song has profanity so just chill out, no reason to leave a 1 star review on the ENTIRE ALBUM because you're insecure. Besides, they add curse words every time they perform live, it's not like it's new this time.
(3) Muse is very well known, as they should be, for their amazing ability to have such a diverse execution of music style across their discography. Bottom line is if you've been listening to Muse, you knew they were going to try and reach new heights with this album and expand upon their style. The fact that I see fans complaining AT ALL is baffling to me. You received new Muse at your fingertips. What more could you want???
(4) The idea that Matt has gotten lazier with his lyrics is a claim that has zero evidence backing it. This man is an artist who weaves the best play on words to convey what he truly means. In their song The Handler, "Behold my trance formation" is heard "behold my transformation"...That is just pure beauty.
Bottom line, if you love Muse, you will love this album. If you're a whiny sack of annoying, you'll probably dislike it.

Wow

I've been a fan of Muse since I first heard origin of
Symmetry. I have their entire discography on MP3 and vinyl. I've seen them three times in concert. And from what I've heard, this album is horrible. The lyrics are poorly written and repetitive, and the music isn't much better. That being said, I still love muse, and hope they get back to writing something better soon.

So Far, So Good

So far all the songs that have been released have been really good. Can't wait for the rest. This will by far be the best major label release of the year.

Very disappointed!

I've been a muse fan since showbiz came out. I've loved all of their albums and I've been waiting for drones for 2 years now. Muse have been saying for the last couple of months that this is would be a lot heavier and more like their old stuff. I've so far heard Dead inside, psycho, reapers, and mercy and not one of those songs is heavy nor does it sound like their old stuff. Every song so far is very pop sounding and so far from muse's original sound! It's very sad!

AMuse-ing

I've listened to Muse since Shobiz, and with each album they introduce a new side of the spectrum, which I can never hate no matter what they put out. While they may be putting out a little more mature content, they only place it where it is directly required. As others have said before me, a Drill Sargent will always curse. And a Sarge is the perfect character to represent what this concept album stands for. And for those who do not appreciate the reiteration of the guitar "musicality" from HAARP and Hullabaloo, shut it. No one wants to hear you complain about unoriginality. While it shares it's aspects with the feel of songs like Uprising and Citizen Erased, it delivers a different message, and serves a different purpose in this album. And finally, for those who are commenting about straight up not liking Muse, how the hell did you just so happen to stumble upon this album and just so happen to enter the reviews section. If you don't like Muse, there are plenty of other terrible artists you can go rag on for fun. Seriously, get a life. And the cover art is great. Maybe you just hate it because you yourself are just another cog in the machine. Another brick in the wall. Another note in the symphony. I rest my case ✌

This is so funny

Muse have become a parody of themselves. All of their recent social commentary is so on the nose and so trite and this album is the worst of it.

Crap

New muse is crap. They have always been political...but it's less annoying when the music is actually good.

Really, that's the best the band could come up with? The last two albums were great.

Psycho is just terrible

Matt seems to get lazier and lazier with the lyrics every album. I would not recommend this song to anyone. It sounds like a horribly attempted cover of Marilyn Manson, Nickleback and Nine Inch Nails.

Psycho

This is a review of the first song “Psycho” only as the album doesn’t come out for a while yet. Does the song sound like it’s based off of a riff they’ve been playing live for a few years now? Yes. Does Matt curse a lot in the song? Yes. But who cares? It’s got an extremely catchy bass line and this is just one song from what appears to be a concept album. This song is relative to a drill sergeant getting people to kill for them. What drill sergeant doesn’t swear? The song’s awesome and I can’t wait for the rest of the album to be released just to see how much they’ve gotten back into the full on rock mode that most of us grew up listening to prior to the last couple of albums. If you love Muse and aren’t a prude who can’t listen to swear words in music then you’ll love this song.

Unoriginal

Their single "Psycho" sounds exactly like the crap I listened to in high school... in the 1990's... both in content and in style. "Psycho" is just juvenile. Where did Muse go? They used to be so innovative and original. I won't be buying this album. Totally disappointed.

Love it!!!

Huge fan of muse! I'm happy their old jam from back in the day has evolved into a song! For all of you people complaining about the language....... Grow a pair. This song is from the perspective of a drill instructor, who everyone knows every other word that comes out their mouth is profane. Also if anyone of you saw "Full Metal Jacket" you would understand the vibe and mentality the video and song shows towards the military. The song even takes a few things from the movie. "Show me your war face!!!" Can't wait for the rest of the album.

Psycho is a good taste to whet your appetite...

This review is just for the song "Psycho" as I don't believe in reviewing the whole album when it's not even out yet. Anyway for the song "Psycho", after the first listen you can clearly hear the straight rock'n'roll sound the guys have went back to for this song. Parts of this song or a great deal of it does sound like it has bits and pieces from "Black Holes and Revelations" and "Uprising". I'm not saying that's a bad thing by no means as those were great albums to me, but just going from what the song sounds like with it's riffs and effects used for instrumentation. The sound bytes woven into the song are a nice little touch although I think they are overused just a tad and could've been dialed down some. Also the cussing I think is a little to much as well. Is there really a need for all of that to get the point across to the listeners? Anyway with all that being said, I'm eagerly awaiting Muse's new album as I'm a huge huge fan of their work over the years. Rock 'n' Roll!!!!

Psycho sounds like it stemmed from the end of Stockholm Syndrome when they play it live. It's amazing.

Welcome Back Muse!

Psycho is pretty good. Sounds like muse is going back to the good music they used to make! However, I don't like the cursing. The one thing I liked about Muse was the fact they didn't use a lot of foul language.

DRONES

This is a step in the right direction, but definitely not like their old material. Also I could do without all the cussing. That being said, still AWESOME

MuseCoverBand

Honestly, i hope this is the worst song on their album because if this is their best track, Oh Boy! It sounds like a Muse Cover band! Nothing interesting or original. Mishmash of DM's "Personal Jesus" riff, RATM Rip off riff and The Doors "Roadhouse Blues" they might get sued next! Hope the album is much better than this single.

Muse Could Be Back With Drones!

Just to be clear, this is an analysis of the first track Psycho and that's all. First off, I'm a huge Muse fan, but I felt slightly underwhelmed by The 2nd Law. However, this first single has the raw sound we've been waited for (similar to Origin of Symmetry). I'm really excited to see what the rest of the album has in store, and this could be Muse's chance to wow us all again.

IN LOVE WITH THIS ALBUM ALREADY <3

all I had to listen to was 15 seconds of Psycho before I was definitely in love with it. Sure it’s not exactly like their old stuff but they’re expanding and experimenting as a band, they’re not supposed to sound the same. So, with this altered sound, I say that MUSE has done phenomenally over the years and continues to excel to this day. Kudos to them all!

Dynamic and Inredible

The just keep pumping out gold this band. Whether their hard rock from the early 2000's or their more creative stuff from more recent times, muse never disappoints. Their ability to change their sound is something that sets them apart from other groups. My favorite artist easily. Psycho is a perfect explosive rock song to grow anticipation for their new album. I just can't wait.
