Stunning! An Instant All-Time Favorite.

I'll leave the lengthy reviews to those who are more eloquent and educated about music, and instead speak briefly from the heart:
I first leanred of Justin Kaughlin when I watched the documentary "Keep On Keepin' On", which centers on his relationship with jazz great, the late Clark Terry. A long-time lover of Terry's music, I was deeply touched by his story, and how he had taken the young Kaughlin under his wing. And during the course of the film, I became increasingly impressed by Kaughlin's playing, and by him as a PERSON. So immediately after watching the film I bought the CD "Dedication" and listned to it all the way through. And then listened again. And again. And again. Two days later I have listened to this CD about a dozen times and it is already ranked among my favorite jazz CDs of all time - right up there with Miles, Monk, Brubeck... and of course, the great Clark Terry. Not a single bad track on the entire release, and a half-dozen that are simply sublime. My favorite new album - and artist - of the year!

Absolutely Blown Away

I just discovered Justin Kauflin and having had this album in my life for a mere 2 hours, I can't help but feel it has already changed me. The writing is extraordinary, and there is a simplicity and sensitivity to his playing that keeps you sitting right on the edge, always wanting more of what he has to offer. You can almost hear the humility in his craftsmanship. This is artistry of the first degree.

Truly Gifted

Justin Kauflin's music is phenomenal. This album is fantastic, from beginning to end. "For Clark", "Epiphany", "The Professor", and "Mother's Song" are my favs, if I had to pick. I love listening to the whole album. He is truly gifted, and talented beyond his years. Bravo!

"a voice that is mature, distinct and confident"

"As a pianist, Mr. Kauflin, 28, favors a clarity of touch and ideas, rarely spinning into an orbit he can’t control. His writing is also balanced, tempering post-bop intricacies with the assurances of the gospel church.” - The New York Times
"It is a voice that is mature, distinct and confident...On 'For Clark,' Kauflin manufactures complex, intelligent solo passages over a simple melody that drives the song to a spare, heartwarming conclusion” - Downbeat Magazine
"Twelve original tunes...take the listener from hushed tones to tempos ablaze, showing a generous degree of skill, maturity and creativity in the spaces between the notes. Justin Kauflin's knack for making a statement, marvelously build on it, then bring the listener home demands more than a single listen” - WBGO Newark, NJ

Wonderful

Absolutely wonderful! Justin’s new album shows maturity and his voice is more confident. It’s definitely a step from his previous album and I’m sure having Quincy Jones as a producer only helped Justin reach this confidence. My favorites are definitely “Up And Up” and “Thank You Lord”!
