One reason iTunes might have neglected the other . . . what? . . . 6, 8 Checkfield albums is that Surrounded appears to be pretty much a collection of tracks from other albums. I hesitate to call it a "greatest hits" album; there are other tracks as or even more deserving--and while this collection captures Checkfield's ability to draw from almost every musical genre (smooth jazz, new age piano, new age/film music strings, Celtic music, cajun music, old-timey music, and many different world music genres (African, Caribbean, etc.), the limited number of tracks gives a somewhat distorted view of the group's work. They are known best for their smooth jazz with world music and new age edges. It's a good collection and makes for a nice hour or so of listening. But there are other Checkfield albums that listeners should explore, if you like their smooth jazz tracks.
