iTunes Store: Customer Reviews

2008-05-08

Leave out the unnecessary!

This probably would be pretty burnin without the average highschool drummer. The kit is way to upfront, probably do to the overdubbing. It makes it sound quite mediocre (like a doctorbeat that drops the time) to advant listeners of the Tristano school. To the previous comment, use your ears man! You obviously don't listen enough. Know what you are talking about before you put down a review that references the truth. The reviewer wasn't contemplating its artistic credibility, but rather an opinion in relation to the rest of his works. Study, critically think, and then form an opinion about the music. You might find it helpful in considering why it sounds the way it sounds.

Some of the finest jazz improvising ever recorded

Slow tempos, mostly eigth notes. But what does the main review say - "just average, nothing much happens?" I find great fault with that comment. This music is subtle and full of deep feeling. If you want the linear pyrotechnics of "Line Up" or the contrapuntal genius of "The New Tristano," listen to those records - they are truly great. But so is this one. There is not a wasted note. For god's sake don't trust some guy who reviews cd for the itunes store to be an arbitrator of what is good or not in art. But don't trust me either - listen to the music yourself.
