BEST GREATEST HITS ALBUM OF THE 90's

Even though I was born after this (STP)band was popular I love them.Their just a great band that is very very underrated and have been called posers and still went on and didn't brake up for almost ten years '92-02 and then in '08 came together again till '15 just shows you how well they worked together. This how I rank the songs ( my personal favs)
1. Trippin On a Hole in a Paper Heart - Great vocals and even better guitar work and nice job on drums to Eric and MONSTER baseline by Rob.
2.Down- Heavy sludgy guitar riffs, good bass, playing terrific vocals and another great job on drums.
3.Lady Picture Show- Catchy Chorus with fantastic vocals and good solo and a nice beat.
4.Big Empty-Weird meaning but good song nonetheless it's depressing but it's good sounding depression.
5.Days of the Week- a pretty good song on the much forgotten Shangri-La De Da album and its just showing of everything they can do.
6.Sex Type Thing-Great memorable song from the 90's and just a grunge sounding song and very dark and sexual song that's fun to listen to.
7. Creep- good chorus and great openings before the chorus but it's just to long as a song.
8.Wicked Garden-It's a good song but it drags out and has a good beat.
9. Vasoline- it's a great song but it needs to be longer as a song.
10. Sour Girl- Its another song that just drags out but is a great song and everybody remembers the music video.
11.Big Bang Baby- Great song it's just a little to pop and glam look at me stuff but other than that good song.
12.Interstate Love Song- Overrated it's just repetitive and has no real change in beat but is extremely catchy and very difficult to get out of your head.
13.Plush- Overrated and is not their best song by far but is catchy and has very good everything.
14. All in the suit you wear- this is the only song I dislike by STP enough said.
15.Plush (acoustic) it's just not a good sound quality but it's a great terrific vocal performance by Scott.
Thank you STP
And thank you guys for taking the time to read this bye 😀😀😎😎

WOW. That's all I can say. Incredible stuff from start to finish. I had never fully realized how expertly STP has mastered the craft of the short, FM radio, hard rock single. These songs are powerful and succinct, and that is unbeatable combination. As far as "greatest hits" compilations go, there are few that are greater than this right here.

Rest in peace Scott

It's a collection of STPs "greatest" songs. Greatest in quotations because it's subjective. What isn't subjective is the seemingly poor quality of "Wicked Garden". I've tried playing this recording of the song on multiple platforms, iTunes at home/work, different computers, iPhone 6 plus, iPhone 5S, and my car bluetooth and Apple direct link connector. There is severe distortion just after the opening riff and melody guitar throughout the entire song. I thought maybe I was just being a nit picky person, but several other people have noted the poor quality of the recording. I've played with various settings for hours to no avail. Is this Apples fault? Atlantic? Hope there is some kind of resolution.

To Weiland Rules: Although I'm posting this 9 years after yours, I couldn't resist to comment. I don't know what part of the world you're from, but back in the early 90's STP was one of the top commercially successful "alternative" bands around. The reason why no one you knew then never heard of them is because rock is, in fact, dead. Pete Townshend told us this back in the 70's. Have you ever heard of him? Haha. Typically, music lovers will do research on whatever genre they're into for a little history lesson on where what their into came from. Unfortunately, music these days is god awful and kids are being fed whatever present mainstream feeds them. Whatever genre you're into, research it. I guarantee you you'll discover great artists you never knew existed.
Thank you and good afternoon!

This has to be one of the best STP compilations I have seen! I have every STP album and even Scott Weiland’s solo album! Agree that is it missing some of my favorites, though I LOVE all of their songs! Definitely, a great purchase if you are somehow just discovering STP which to me is unfathomable!

Boy do I love a good grunge band

My only real problem with this album is the lack of some of their heavier more grunge tracks, but that isn't me saying I hate it. This band was a huge staple of the 90s and as New Age music grows in popularity, true rock and roll like this becomes a whisper in the musical wind and that's a darn shame. I recommend this album to anyone who loves 90s rock.

Out of all the 5 huge grunge bands STP is tied for first for me with Nirvana, their music is just amazing. Core and Purple are my 2nd and third favorite albums of all time. If only my generation actually listened to this stuff, wish i was 17 back in 1992 not 2013. Even if it is the big 4 pearl jam is total crap so STP could easily take their place on my list

Love it!

This album is great because you can listen to the ENTIRE thing without getting bored. I find that to be the problem with a lot of albums. And I don't know why Stone Temple Pilots are credited as being Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains knockoffs because they are TOTALLY original in there own right. All the songs are good and you MUST buy the entire thing to see what STONE temple PILOTS actually DID. I find the album to be a mix of grunge and pop rock. plush and down being grunge. Interstate love song and lady picture show being pop rock.

Ever buy an album by a band you like, and find awesome songs you didn't even realized they did?
This was one of those.
Interstate Love Song, Creep, and Plush have long been staples in my playlists, but after buying this album, Big Bang Baby and Lady Picture Show were two surprises for me - they were songs I'd liked but didn't know they were STP tunes. Other songs on the album were the same for me, and the few I'd never heard before are now favorites as well.
All in all, money well spent.

STP was never one of my favorite bands, but the contemporary music scene is so poor that I have gone back and re-evaluated them and you know what, they are all right.
I never cared much for their biggest hits, but do like some of their weirder songs like the punkish 'big bang baby' and the power popish 'days of the week'.

I don't know what's up with iTunes and getting bad copies of music. The album from iTunes is either very poorly remastered or is just badly compressed. Either way, it sounds terrible. These songs are at about radio quality. Great if I want to feel like I'm underwater; not so great otherwise.

One day I suddenly realized that although I had never owned an STP record, I actually like all of STP's hits. Every song on here was a radio hit - no fluff. So if you like all their hits like I do, buy it. I could've done without the acoustic version of "Plush" due to the audio quality. Also, be sure to keep the mp3 for "Dead & Bloated" that you downloaded back in college, as that track is strangely missing from this compilation.

This is a must have album for anyone who doesn't own the full albums. Core is one if not the best first albums ANY band released. If you like these songs then make sure you get Crackerman from Core. It is alot like "Sex Type Thing" but grooves and rocks all at once. Just saw them live at The Hollywood Bowl last night. They can still do it. Crackerman was a great choice for that set.

wow.. brings back memories.. One of the easiest bands to listen to.. ain't no way a pearl jam knock off rather sticks more to the hard rock with a grunge feel to it.. wicked garden is great alog with vasoline, big empty, trippin in a hole in a paper heart ( for all of those guitar hero fans should know that one by heart.) sex type thing are all great songs. Great album.. for reviewers that say is new or a knock off. Please do your homework before reporting, Love to get reviews of songs that i don't know and want to make sure they're absolutely correct.

This is a great collection of STP's hits, but this CD does not include other hits including "Unglued," "Dead & Bloated," "Silvergun Superman," or to a lesser degree "Pretty Penny." I think their album "Purple" was their best, but all were good.
For those who never saw them in concert, you get a reprieve! Scott Weiland was either dumped or quit (depending who you talk to) from Velvet Revolver on 4/1/08 and STP has reunited and is planning a tour!

There are two reasons why Stone Temple Pilots weren't as big as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Creed, etc. One, they can sound different from track to track(listen to sour girl, down, and plush and you will know what I mean), so that means when ever they did a song that sounded remotely like another band, they were labeled as copying that band(Plush was way better than smells like teen spirit, but it sounded like a Pearl Jam song). the second reason is that Scott Weiland(I don't know if i spelt that right), didn't die at the top of his career. Please, do yourself a favor and buy this album, I did. (by the way i like all the afore mentioned bands I just wish STP would get more credit)

How can you go wrong with this greatest hits compilation ??? It's permanently part of my car's CD collection....STP has been one of the most inventive bands of the 90's. Critics were hard on them at first, saying their sound copied the likes of Pearl Jam and Nirvana but that was way off. They've proven for over 15 years that their music is timeless and unique ! Fans, as I am, are so excited to hear about a reunion tour this summer. Will that mean some new studio albums will result from it ? No one knows for sure but I 'THANK YOU' STP for all of the amazing works of art you've created and this CD showcases them perfectly :)

I truly think this is one of the best albums ever made, and you should pick it up.
Vasoline-Great song with no weak spots, and great opening. 10/10
Down- Great Chorus but a little to repetitive and hard. 8/10
Wicked Garden-To mellow for me and no strong points. 7/10
Big Empty- Strangest song ever recorded, but great chorus. 9/10
Plush- Amazing job by kretz on drums to match Weilands voice. 10/10
Big Bang Baby- Nice song except it could have a better chorus. 7/10
Creep- Best mellow song I ever heard besides Down In A Hole by Alice In Chains. 10/10
Lady Picture Show- No Change in tempo the whole song. 7/10
Trippin' On a hole in a paper heart- Amazing Non-Chorus.Second chorus line Needs work. 10/10
Interstate Love Song- This song will turn you into an S.T.P.fan. This is the greatest song ever. 10/10
All in that suit you wear- nice single. 8/10
Sex Type Thing- This song is a little cookie cutter if you follow, but has great lyrics. 8/10
Days of the Week- There last fantastic song. 9/10
Sour Girl- Nicely mellow, but I think Creep is better. 8/10
Plush (Acoustic)- Same as regular plushes review, except maybe a little better sounding. 10/10
I never was a fan of there song Dead and bloated but it should appear on the album for others.
If you want to find it see Core(album) its ok 6/10...
Lastly....the most underated song ever is S.T.P.'s Army Ants song. That is a great song and should be on thank you. It has a fantastic...well...everything! If I had to rate it. 10/10

I'm not a true STP fan, I kinda think they're a pearl jam knock off, but they do have some good songs like plush and interstate love song, can't dissagree with that, what i do disagree with is that idiot put that this is a good new band, and that they sound like taking back sunday, the starting line and some other band like them, which is utterly stupid in 2 ways. 1) Make sure you know that you are reviewing a band that released a greatest hits CD and has already broken up before the bands you mentioned even came out before you say they are a good new band. 2) For another thing STP sounds nothing like taking back sunday or those other bands, although I do like taking back sunday, this is a completely different style of music in a completely different time, and I am sorry but you do not compare a grunge band to an emo band...And i don't know if this was a joke or not but if it wasn't then I am angered by the above reasons...Ok sorry guys I just had to get that off my chest.

Thank You has the best songs of their carrer and all of them are really awsome. I hope someday STP would come back and start making Hard-Core Music like they used to. Buy this album is worth it.

In response to the young reviewer who wondered why no one ever seems to remember or mention STP, perhaps its because, during the years of their original release, absolutely EVERYTHING on the radio and MTV sounded almost exactly like these songs. As a group, STP was neither the best nor the worst of their contemporaries, so in retrospect, they get lost in the shuffle, as well as quite rightly overshadowed by higher-calibre and more roadworthy groups like Pearl Jam. Also, a lot of the songs, like Interstate Love Song, Plush, and especially Creep, were so horrendously overplayed on the radio at the time, that I personally am still sick to death of hearing them, even if they are great songs. Maybe another ten years from now, I'll finally be able to appreciate them... In the meantime, though, Wicked Garden, Vasoline, Big Empty, and Sex Type Thing are hard-core enough that they somehow manage to slice through that contempt-breeding familiarity. Gotta love iTunes for picking and choosing!

Great band and great place to start...

if you've never heard of them or have and just wonder if you might like them. Two songs I wish were added to this cd is Silver Gun Superman and Still Remains both of them are off of their Purple album. As I've noticed another review mentions Velvet Revolver.. In my opinion Velvet Revolver is even better than STP, but in their own way.

Thank You is right

STP is up there with Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc. as one of the best alternative bands.
Vasoline- Great opening song. Second best song on the album.
Down- STP's heaviest song. Insanely cool.
Wicked Garden- Sure it's more of a AIC song, but it still is catchy and was a radio hit.
Big Empty- First STP song I ever heard. Good driving song.
Plush- STP's most famous song. I personally feel like the song is dragged on a bit, when it stops and then comes back after 5 seconds, but nonetheless, it is still a great song. Grunge classic.
Big Bang Baby- This is when STP went sort of "poppy" and "glam". Still great song.
Creep- Coolest song here. I love the chorus. "I'm half the man I used to be..."
Lady Picture Show- Pretty good. Not nearly as good as the other songs, but still is a noteworthy song.
Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart- My favorite STP song. Unbelievably cool.
Interstate Love Song- Like the review says, a great highway song. Very catchy.
All in the Suit That You Wear- Great song that sounds as good as the earlier stuff
Sex Type Thing- Great riff. A very good grunge song.
Days of the Week- Ehh...a hit and miss affair
Sour Girl- Great pop tune, sounds like nothing else STP plays
One more thing- Where is "Dead and Bloated"?

This is the best they ever made, i think the only song they MIGHT have left out is dead and bloated. this is a CD you can listen to the whole way through; very rare these days. Here's a full review:
Vasoline- One of the best songs they made, you like this right away 10/10
Down- An awesong song with a great guitar. if you don't buy the whole CD, This is a good song to buy on its own. 10/10
Wicked Garden-Greag song, goes on a little long though. 9/10
Big Empty- A song so wierd that even wierd people think its wierd. Sweet chorus. 9/10
Plush- I liked this song so much, I bought it before i had enough money to buy the CD 10/10
Big Bang Baby- nice vocals. 9/10
Creep-This is a song you should like because of the lyrics. Kind of screwy. 9/10
Lady Picture Show- In this song, you can tell these guys looked up to the beatles. I don't know why, but this is my least favorite on the cd. 8/10
Trippin' On a Hole...- A song With no weak points, but no strong points other than the guitar solo.9/10
Interstate Love Song- Incredible. Another song I bought on its own. 10/10
All in the Suit...- Another great song to listen to over and over. 10/10
Sex Type Thing- A song to listen to if you have immediate "needs" LOL 10/10
Days of the Week-No weak points, but no strong points either. 9/10
Sour girl- Another Beatles- induced song. Good nonetheless. 9/10
Plush(acoustic)- I was considering buying this as a single before I bought the CD. Just as good, if not better than its counterpart.10/10
The Album- A must buy for anyone.10/10

STP is one of the greatist bands unleashed in the early 90's and this album contains STP at their best. The only song I would have added to this album is "Dead and Bloated", one of their best. If you like STP then you should also check out Velvet Revolver.

STP is one of those bands when you hear their cuts you immediately wonder-who is that? The hooks, the melodies, the sonic quality, grabs hold of your ears and just wont let go. This CD is a collection of the very best of STP and their songs which do just that. Buy it, put it on your iPod, and you will quickly find that you are playing these cuts over and over and over again. Remember, along with GNR (Guns and Roses) members, STP is the other contributing force to Vevelt Revolver. Just how good is this CD-the worst cut of these 15 tracks would rate a 4 out of 5 stars. Buy it, play it, love it.

How come so few people have heard of this band?

Almost all rock fans i know have never heard of this band. (new rock fans, old rock fans, and even big fans of music from the 90s who say they know all there is to know about the bands) How can anyone not have heard a band that has sold 40 millions records. I mean of course i know a lot of people at the age of like 23-35 who have heard of them, but very few my age 14-17 that have heard of them. If you do not have an album of STP and wish to get one this is a good place to start, but as you buy all the albums you'll understand how unique this band is with each record. True rock n roll legends.
