If I were to point out one (very minor) gripe that I have with this purchase, it would be that SOME, not all, of the recordings in the woodwind and brass sections don't sound quite as good as it should be when it comes to pitch. Maybe it's just me, but compared to other recordings I've listened to, portions of these recordings are sub par in the woodwind and brass sections.
One of the recordings that stands out in my mind is Beethoven's 5th. Just listen to it and you will begin to understand what I'm saying. Now having said that, the string sections are flawless in every piece as they should be.
If you can get around the fact that some of the recordings in portions of these selections are sub par from the woodwinds and brass, then you will enjoy.
Also, you really can't go wrong for the price as the London Philharmonic Orchestra brings these "timeless" masterpieces to life for only $ 7.99!
As I pointed out earlier, my gripe is very minor, but to a trained ear it's somewhat disappointing.
For the price and selecton of music it gets 5 stars, but I gave it 4 stars because some of the woodwinds and brass were a bit sub par at times. I can't overlook this as these pieces really command perfection when recording!
