Stickfigure👍

I am new to this band and I dig them. Heard them on Pandora and had to purchase. The music and the enhanced voice get redundant but the vibe and soul are solid.
I really got turned on when I heard the Specials tribute on Smokestack. It made me happy to see that modern bands still acknowledge their genius.
There is not alot of newer music that can be classified as Great.
This band is definately not Great!
But they are definately Good!
If you dig on the Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, etc. type sound then you will not be disappointed.......at least I wasn't.

I'm a South Lake Tahoe local. Before I ever knew of this band I was at a Regge concert at the casinos and one of my best friends was wearing there shirt telling me and everyone all about how good they are and he was just at there concert and next thing you know the whole band was standing in front of us introducing themselves and giving my buddy props for sporting there shirt. Super awesome band that appreciate there fans. Keep up the good work boys!!!

RedBullder

I am writing this after having discovered Scott through his latest album, Smoke Stack. I have since purchased all of his albums and they've been spinning on my iPhone for the last 3 weeks. He is very talented, but what sticks out for me is his ability to create a melody. Hawaii Song and Livin It are great examples of his very unique approach to song writing. He then takes those melodies and does a simply beautiful job of producing great music. While not his creation, he even manages to improve a seemingly un-improvable Johnny Cash standard, Fulsom Prison. I know he just published Smoke Stack, but I'm already looking forward to his next creation.

This album was made by One guy!!!

Stick figures albums have been one playing every instrument, singing to and then mixing it. his name is Scott Woodruff. Look him up. he just got band members to play with him. they made a small album called "reprise sessions"

Awesome

Stick Figure has always been able to make a killer chill tune out of some simple instrumentals by combining it in a way thats pretty genius. This album does the same thing but takes it a step further than any of the other albums by stretching your mind further along with the progression of his music. Stick Figure captures a new element thats new in his music giving it a deeper feeling while still making an album you dont need to ever skip a song on.

Smoke Stack!!!!

I bought Vibes Alive, it has such a good rhythm, it reminded me of when I was 7 or 8 years old, looking at a cartoon shows on T.V. of a train running down the tracks to a melody like this one. Great memories as a child! It really moves you inside. Like driving your first convertable car you bought when you were just 17 years old!
I also bought Hawaii Song and Fight the feelings.

Excellent.

Usually reggae is so light and carefree, but this album is deep and emotional. It's really soothing and easy to listen to. It takes you to another place. I like just about every song. I've never written a review before, but I enjoyed this so much I had to post something.
Great job!

The best reggae album....ever

I can listen to this masterfull piece of art orver....and over... and it never gets old. Scott's talents shine on this album....with the expansion of a full band, Stick Figure has only skimmed the cusp of what the future of reggae can be...an innovator.

Set

Sick, sick, sick. This is truly one of those rare albums that you can just push play and listen to every single song without skipping through. Stick Figure absolutely kills it giving the likes of Rebelution, TBS and Iration a run for their money. Throw this album on for a road trip or at the beach, you will not be dissapointed.

Without a doubt, the best upcoming Reggae Band

I pop in this album, and the only feeling I feel is "good"! Livin' it is by far my favorite song on the album. You can't help but feel good. Your wife could deny you sex, and how terrible would that feel, but then you pop in this CD and bam, you no longer feel bad! It's that good!

Every song sounds the same

Its not that its a bad album...its just that there is absolutely nothing memorable about it. I swear every song sounds exactly the same. I suppose if you are high and dont really care too much about the depth of the songs or the musicianship you wont mind...but if you are looking for substance there isnt much here. Listen to Rebelution or The Devastators.

Best reggae artist of the younger generation

This guy never ceases to amaze me when ever i'm either looking for the relaxing cuts while easing back into my couch packing that first bowl of chronic for the day, or when im feelin down stick figure once again came out with another soothing and inspiring album for my eager ears to consume. this album can give anyone that great "feel good" feeling when listening to a damn good album, "smoke stack" along with "Burning ocaen" will always go down with me in my music collection. i too am an artist who can play multiple instruments but i gotta give it to the way scott woodruff pulls his music off, you would never know it's just one guy playing all those different instruments and it's unreal how clean polished and... smooth this album sounds, i LOVE bumping his albums in my car, is mixed together so well and sounds so, so, so nice... the bass bumps so hard yet clear and the treble and everything else just seems to be at the perfect level its nuts, i love this guy and you need to buy this album, this is an album (along w/ burning ocean) that i can show any family member of mine and they really enjoy it. keep it up scott, i give it to you, thanks for another great album with smoke stack.
Best tracks in my opinion: hawaii song, smoke stack, on 2nite, break of day, livin it, longtime

Woodruff at his best...

If your familiar with Stick Figure's music and the style then your sure to enjoy this newest installment. Their is no specific song that can be identified as the best, rather the entire album is solid. Even better, Smoke Stack is similar to the previous albums due to its versatility. I put this music on when I'm driving, having some friends over to chill, or in my "private time". This newest piece album is awesome and definetly a great album for anyone who enjoys reggae with a dub sound.

Smoke Stack

Scotts thrid length album for sure is some great stuff. Im supportin him here and will be buying the thrid cd from him. Been listing to stick figure since he had his album up on the sublime archive website. I feel like Scott and his newly found band mates will make a big impression on the reggae scene. I Love all of his albums. Even the five or six songs that never made it to Sounds of My Addiction. If you buy this one you should also get his first two full length albums as well. Youll be blown away with his first two, as you will with this album.
love the style, groove, skunk attitude.

I can't stop digging this album

Joyful there, melancholic there, and enjoyable from start to finish, Smoke Stack confirms that Stick Figure is one of today's most exciting reggae acts. Slower jams like Livin' It and Longtime deliver delightfully mellow melodies, while faster tracks like Vibes Alive, Hawaii Song, and Fallen Down rock with a heads-down sense of urgency. Overall, this is one of those albums that grabs you the first time you hear it and keeps getting more compelling with subsequent listens. Pick it up today.

Best Reggae/Dub Album of the Year

Stick Figure is the music of the man, the legend, Scott Woodruff. Scott produces writes, plays, produces all the music for his albums, he is the one man band. His first release "Burning Ocean" was Top Ten Reggae Albums of 2008 on Itunes. This year Stick Figure has done it again with his best album yet. He has grown as a musician and this album shows it. Stick Figure is sure to keep any reggae listeners vibes alive. Buy this album now, its worth it

Impressing

Really enjoyed the other albums, but this one is in a class of its own. I really feel like the music message they are trying to deliver comes accross here. I had heard from a few friends that it was great, but finally got a chance to sit down and give it a full spin and I am thouroughly impressed. From the great bass lines to the unique reverb techniques and obviously the soothing vocals, this album is a must own. I can honestly say that I give this album a full spin without skipping one track. The bass and reverb stand out on Hawaii Song, excellent vocals on Livin' It, amazing vibe on Eazy Dub, I could go on and on.... For anyone that enjoys the artistic aspects of Reggae, this is a fantastic album. Great work!

the most SLIPPERY SMOOOTH!!

Stick Figure (aka woodruff) is the slowest reggae artist EVER, constantly keepin it chill & producing the most slippery smooth reggae...So, if you have any moans &/or groans about this latest release then you may just have to be honest with yourself and face the fact that REGGAE MAY NOT BE FOR YOU!!! His message is as inspiring as his music is beautiful, & he possesses an unbridled raw talent that puts him at the front of this modern day reggae movement...His bass lines are SOOOO thick, the keys are sheer magic, and his percussion never ever speeds up (always keepin it slow & vibin')...Couple all of that with his made-for reggae voice and you get the slowest most slippery smooth reggae EVER!! So buy now, or just let the rest of us enjoy...

Awesome reggae you can listen to all day long

i listen to Smoke Stack in my car, at my desk, at home, on the bus, at the beach, etc. this CD is awesome and it's the kind of music you can listen to all day long. I describe it to my friends as chill, easy listening music that music lovers of all kinds will like, no matter what your favorite genre is. I can't wait to hear these songs live. Stick Figure has been touring with a new band, and they kill it every time I've seen them. I think Stick Figure ranks right up there with Soja, Rebelution, Tribal Seeds, and any of the other up and coming reggae bands. And with these new songs, I think they've got good things coming their way. This album is one of the best album I've bought all year, and I would definitely recommend it. Every song on the album is worth buying!

Natural Vibe = Natural sound

The one man reggae dub villon.... Progression of the sound that has been attempted by many outside of Jamaica and only perfected by a few. No one has been this talented in this genre since the creator, Bradley(Sublime). Stick has written, played and mixed you nothing but original emotion expressed through music. Progression of this style will take us all into the future of what is pure american roots. What's that? yeah Johnny said he's stoked on it.

Stick Figure Keepin' those Vibes Alive!

Stick Figure’s latest album “Smoke Stack” captures a pure ambience of expression with hard drum and bass intertwined with diverse echoes of dub laced, with all sorts of interesting knickknacks that keep you locked into the sound. Topped with strong, conscience lyrics that hit hard and spread like wild fire into your heart, you have no other choice but to keep on listening. Having seen Stick Figure grow as an artist for over three years, this is undoubtedly his best work to date. We were lucky to hear smoking songs prior to the release of the album like “Hawaii Song”, “Livin’ It” & “Smoke Stack” but you never expect it to be followed up with so many more killer tunes like “On2Night”, “Break of Day” & “Thick & Thin”…just to scratch the surface! I recommend this album for not just all reggae lovers but anyone who is in search for something fresh and original because "Smoke Stack" is what we all have been trying to find.
