This album, with songs spanning decades, is not only an ULTIMATE collection, but it conjures up the nostalgia of various times in my life that I remember because of specific Dolly songs. Listening to her sends me back to the hills, fields, and dairy farms of Pennsylvania, to a former job that I loved, to places I've visited, to dive bars where I was either crying in a beer or toasting over a raised shot.
When Dolly sings, you can hear right down to her soul...and the experience helps you see the world a little differently.
Coat of Many Colors is a true song - the little patch-work coat can be seen in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - the first time I saw it (after being a fan of the song since I was a kid), gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes, as the song itself does..."One is only poor only if they choose to be..."
If you like some Dolly and can't decide on an album, this is a good choice because it gives you a little bit of everything over the years.
