I am not sure if this is even legal but when you purchase the entire soundtrack from Itunes then they go through some internal change your library becomes hostage. I now have less music than I had before. Of the soundtrack "elf" three songs will not upload to the "cloud". In addition to that other music purchased from them has magically disappeared from my library. It went from 4k in songs to 1.5k. I am extremely upset. The explanation took three people to try to get something that resembles an answer. I have checked their answer which states the music publisher has pulled the rights to use the song. I checked several songs from my library and they are still in Itunes, so that is bunk. They just want me to pay for the same songs again. I want my music back that they still have.

Nobody is mentioning the absence of Ray Charles’s Winter Wonderland at the end of the movie? Boo to this omission.

This soundtrack is amazing! It is the perfect mix of Christmas songs to get you into the Christmas spirit and the movie is also superb! I love this soundtrack. One of my favorites, though, is “Pennies from Heaven” by Louis Prima. The thing that would have made it even better, though, is if they added “What Christmas Means to Me” by Stevie Wonder. But with all of this to say, buy the whole album. It is worth every penny from Heaven. $7.99 is not that much for such a good album! It will get you in the Christmas spirit immediately! Trust me!

The entire soundtrack is fun to listen to.

My family has a huge Christmas music collection and I have a mojority of these songs already!! I just want the song with Zooey Deschanel & Leon Redbone!

I wish I could get the songs buddy sings in the movie, like the singing in the store song and the song he sings to his dad in the Christmas grahm part. Also I wish I could get baby it's cold outside with zooey and WILL. It's a soundtrack from the movie, and last time I checked tht random guy did not sing baby it's cold outside in the movie. Zoe has a great voice!Yet they only included one of the three songs she sang in the movie. I would love to see all three song that Zoe sang on the album.

I'm pretty sure this is not Apple's fault. It's the record company that is not allowing their songs to be purchased on iTunes individually. Either that, or the rights to that song are so expensive, (say $2.99) Apple just won't post it individually. Maybe you should turn your hate on the record companies and leave Apple alone. When you post only one star for an album just because you can't get THE song you want, it hurts the album/artists, not Apple.

The beauty of itunes is being able to purchase singles at a fair price. So why not allow us to get an excellent song because an individual, Zooey Deschanel, performed it on this soundtrack.

I agree that it's lame that this is an "Album Only" soundtrack, but you can find most of these songs throught iTunes if you search for them. And for those of you looking for "Baby, It's Cold Outside" you should look up the Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Jordan version.

The way I see it, Zooey Deschantel and Leon Redbone are worth $7.99 by themselves. The rest is just gravy. I'm glad I got it.

I absolutely love this soundtrack, there is only one song I really don't care for and that is Nothing from Nothing but other than that it is a jazzy little Christmas album and I couldn't be happier with it. The version of Baby It's Cold Outside is one of the best ones that I have ever heard. I am a Christmas music connoisseur, well in my opinion, and this is fantastic.

So I really wish they had Baby, It's Cold Outside sung by Zooey Deschanel WITH Will Ferrell. It would have ten times more amazing. Zooey's awesome by herself anyway, but when they were both singing it in the movie, it was probably the best part.

I must say, iTunes, that I am getting very tired of seeing "Album only" after the songs. I just want one song...not a lot. Please please PLEASE consider taking "Album only" off and allowing people to buy just one =] I'd really appreciate it.

Rate an exceptional album low because your to cheap to dish out $10 bucks. Review the soundtrack, complain by email. Directly to New Line Cinema & Records and iTunes. As a christmas album this should have a much better rating. iTunes needs another way for people to respond to pricing issues.

The whole beauty of iTunes was to get what you wanted. Not what you don't. I think, judging by the number of reviews with this comment, that iTunes would push the producer, if it was assumably in their hands, to allow individual sales. Give people what they want and they will want more. ITunes can get a bad sounding alternate recording like that whole Kid Rock 'Sweet Home Alabama' song they hock.....and hacked! Maybe someday I can get this one song with that other one song :)

Sorry, Apple, but these "Album Only" things defeat half the point of iTunes for me. I never buy them and I never will. Whenever I see "Album Only," I move along -- and my generally good impression of iTunes gets knocked down a notch.

I like the whole album. I was just looking for "Baby it's cold outside".... like most of the reviews, but that's how I find all of my favorite albums (search a random song I hear and find out I love the entire album). Well worth the money... not that it is an expensive album in the first place :)

Hey guys come on, this is a really good CD. Yeah, Baby it's cold outside is a great song but i think that you should give the whole album a shot it's actually a really fun Christmas CD.

Granted, I just wanted to buy the outstanding, glistening and timeless version of Leon and Zooey doing Baby it's cold outside. I was upset also. BUT when you see top names in music on the artist list, you can't help but ignore that you're buying 12 songs for the price of 10! So to the people who ONLY want Zooey (and yes, she is cute, but her musical talent goes way beyond her stunning good looks) GET A SET OF EARS!!!! Don't be picky and choosy. It used to be that, except for some very limited singles, you could only buy an entire CD and that was for at least $13.88 at Wal-Mart. So, GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!!!!!

Zooey has the best voice out there, unfortunately she hasn't done any commercial music so there is nothing from her to download besides "Baby It's Cold Outside". If it takes $10 to cherish that beautiful vocal performance of hers, then so be it. Zooey, please make your own albums!

I love this soundtrack ALMOST as much as I love the movie. All of the songs may not be Christmas songs, but they all put you in the Christmas spirit because it reminds you of this wonderful movie. My children and I LOVE this soundtrack and I'm sure we'll be enjoying it years to come.

0 for the fact its still listed as album only along with the rest of the album (apart from 1 song) apple/itunes pull your finger out most people just want baby its cold outside just for Zooey Deschanel's amazing voice. While it wasn't the version with Will Ferrell I still enjoyed Zooey's part. I had no choice I went out and purchased the full album and put this amazing song on my ipod. I am so bummed that after all this time Itunes is still forcing people to buy this as a full album to get the 1 song that all really want. Nothing against the rest of the album all these songs are fun christmas tunes that I enjoy at christmas but Baby its cold outside and Zooey amazing voice I can listen to year round and never tire of the song.

This terrific collection of Christmas music strikes that hard-to-achieve balance of fun, traditional holiday songs that don't veer into sappy cheesiness. This is exactly what I've been looking for this year! It's certainly worth buying the entire CD - the perfect soundtrack for baking cookies and wrapping presents.

I've been reading about people discouraged because they can't buy the one song they wanted. Well, I just wanted to say that buying the whole album is totally worth the money! It is my favorite xmas album we own, and I love all the songs on it! It is jazzy, cool and amazing, while still putting across a feeling of cozy christmas... if you only want to buy one song, I think they chose well... The Nutcracker Suite is absolutely amazing!! So buy it, but I strongly suggest getting the entire album. They are all incredible artists and songs, put em together, and it is a completely incredible album!!

Okay - so you're here to get Baby, It's Cold Outside with Zooey Deschenel. Me too. But you can't buy that track alone. A Christmas distaster? No! Perhaps a Christmas miracle in disguise... the whole CD is great and, really - who cares? What's another $8.98 at this time of year anyway - we're already in the hole. So, get the whole CD, enjoy it, and listen to track 5 a little extra to get back at the man.

Look, it may be annoying that you have to pay for the whole album if you only want one song, but the whole album is really good anyway. Even though you may only want "Baby, It's Cold Outside," the rest of the album is amazing (especially "Pennies from Heaven," "Santa Baby," and "The Nutcracker". Also, "Christmas Island" is pretty amusing.) It's worth it to buy the whole album. So STOP GRUMBLING! --oh, and also, iTunes is not in charge of what is sold seperately, the producer is in charge of that. go complain to them. another thing - don't rate the album really low if you're just unhappy about the "Baby, It's..." problem. If you're upset about the situation, you probably have not even heard the album.

Not to be on the itunes bandwagon, but I did some research and it's not really their fault that you have to buy the whole album instead of individual songs. I too just wanted one song- "Baby It's Cold Outside". I was really pissed when I looked and looked and, honestly, itunes is the ONLY place that you can even find this song. I also found out that part of the reason is some sort of copyright BS (the fault of the album's producers) and actually had to do with Zooey Deschanel herself. I read that she didn't want to sing in the movie at all- as a matter of fact, she dosen't want to sing anything at all! She has made NO albums and she refuses to sing for anything ever again. She is so very talented but she dosen't want to be a singer and she dosen't want to be known as one. (????) She only wants to be known for her acting skills and she said that she really prefers non-mainstream movies anyway. I'm completely baffled by this because I think she has one of the most beautiful and stirring voices I have ever heard, however I can only respect her desicions about her career and accept it. I'm just going to buy the whole album even though I don't really want it because I'm afraid it might be the only time her voice is even recorded at all. Sorry everybody- I don't mean to be an "itunes defender", I just thought that it might help somebody else who was in the same boat as me. :)

This is exactly the kind of thing that causes piracy of music. I would love to have "Baby, It's Cold Outside" but I'm not willing to pay ten bucks to get it. Seeing that well over half of the fifty some odd reviews address this same issue and not one response from Apple to explain tells me that customer service is going down the tubes with this company.

All I want is Baby its cold outside. I dont see why the songs should only be sold with the whole album. THere are a lot of people that just want one or two songs and if they are like me, they are not going to but the whole album for $10 just to get them. I never laughed so hard at a movie when it first came out, and I was so excited when they put out a soundtrack!!! I love every song on this cd, well maybe except for Nothing from Nothing. I like the song, but it doesnt' fit w/ the cmas theme. Very much worth 9.99! Eartha Kitt is a legend! Her version (original I believe) of Santa Baby is the best! Leon Redbone's voice is like butter. You don't get that kind of vocals any longer. Classic!

Its not Apple that decides to sell only one song and make the others album-only. Its the producers/recording company, whoever. So don't blame apple. You can however ask them to get back to the company and ask them for a new direction in the buying of the album, that would be much more constructive. Otherwise, "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is nicely done, but I prefer the movies version to that with Leon Redbone, who is not bad. "The Nutcracker Suite" is just plain crazy, and I like it. In my opinion, a great buy folks.

iTunes really needs to pick up the pace with letting people buy 1 song instead of a whole album. I mean camon who wants to spend $9 on an album when you want only one song. However, thats a matter for customer support. Overall, the album is decent, "Baby, It's Cold Outside" really helps the album out. Probaly the best song on there. u guys r nuts this album is awesome! every time i hear it i think of the movie--which was in fact the best movie ever made-- and it fills me with joy. besides- the best way to spread christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

There really isn't anything new on this album that you can't find in a million other places, with the exception of Nutcracker by Brian Setzer, which is available for .99 and Baby, it's Cold Outside. I feel like all of the fans of Zooey Deschanel are being held hostage by whomever has decided we need to buy a whole album to get one song. Since when is this the spirit of iTunes? It seems antithetical in every way imaginable in the new paradigm of music recordings. Who's responsible for this? Is it the label or iTunes? Just Fix It.

The song is the staple of the movie, and Zooey isn't a reknown singer. Of course you'll have to pay for her song. THe movie is great, the soundtrack is great. Boo hoo! The song is worth having on iTunes. Rating the soundtrack poorly for having to pay for a song you really like is really pathetic, people.

Been waitng for this soundtrack! I just love Zooey DeChanel's voice in " Baby It' Cold Outside"! Hope to hear more of it in the future. The music really suited the movie. If you like the old christmas stuff meet's the new, then this album is for you!

I love this album - but after seeing how iTunes has made this over-the-top "Album Only," I decided to purchase the real thing for $8.99 on Amazon! That's 10 bucks of mine that iTunes missed out on!

Having been weaned on Firestone Christmas albums in the 60's, I'm sort of an expert at rating xmas music. Elf exceeds the maximum allotment for Leon Redbone but makes it up with a smoky, untarnished version of Baby It's Cold Outside, featuring the new favorite slow-talking every-girl, Zooey Deschanel (had to look up the spelling.) The second surprise comes in basic tiger stripes: Brian Setzer's Nutrcracker Suite--the hippest version yet. Eartha Kitt is as smooth as Black Velvet Canadian whiskey: an unmistakeable sign the fat man is coming back. Now, let's see what we can do for Easter.

For anyone who hasn't seen the film, Elf is a winner as a Christmas family adventure. Will Ferrell is lovable and endearing as Buddy, a hyper and naive adult who was raised by Santa's elves. Buddy manages to reach out to all of New York with his Christmas spirit, and the collection of music here is full of the same warmth (" The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.")

Featured are some very traditional songs given New-York-flavored swing by some of the greatest soul and jazz performers, including Eartha Kitt's 'Santa Baby,' Ella "Lady Day" Fitzgerald's bouncy and warm turn on 'Sleigh Ride' and Winter Wonderland, as sung by Leone Redbone. Easily the fan favorite on the soundtrack is 'Baby, It's Cold Outside,' sung by Redbone and Zooey Deschanel, who plays Buddy's love interest Jovie in the film. The song's playful warmth and bite, all brought out by the contrast of the two voices, adds extra holiday cheer to an already wonderful soundtrack. A nice addition to anyone's holiday collection.

I loved this CD! It had some really good songs (pennies from heaven, santa baby, etc...) My only problem with this cd, is you can only buy one of the songs by its self!!! Come on iTunes!!!
