Butterfly

Worth buying the album for this long cut alone. I remember loving this album when it first came out. For a good 70's fusion juxtaposition, check out Santana's Caravanseri as well.

Landmark Synthesizer Album

I have this on vinyl and this is the album that made me wanted to play keyboards. I was in grade school when I heard this. Even reading the back credits on all of the keys (ARP Odyssey, ARP Soloist, ARP String, Clavinet, Fender Rhodes Piano). This album is the perfect mixture of jazz and funk. This is one of my all time favorite albums, and Herbie doesn't cease to give the best.

Real Music

This album is one of the greatest jazz albums. There are so many layers and Herbie makes them all fit together seamlessly. The musicianship is flawless. A true masterpiece.

FuNkY!

This album has it. Absolutely the best Hancock money can buy. If you don't own this album, you probably like the Jonas Brothers.

AMAZING!!

Absolutely amazing album. Originally bought it in mid 70's and forgot how great it is. Mike Clark's drumming specifically on Actual Proof is one the best funk fusion performances you will ever hear.
Anyone who is drummer or who likes great drumming needs to buy this.

An absolute standout!

There are so many things to say about Mr. Hancock's album, but I'll be brief. The initial reviewer says it all, except that "Actual Proof" has one of the filthiest and most complex bass lines I have ever heard! A fantastic job Mr. Hancock. I bought the LP when it was released in 1974, then for years looked for it on CD. Nice that iTunes has it. They are showing their good taste. Love the airbrushing artwork too.
