The best DM music written. Everything else is chasing the brilliance, there are a few song that reach the mark, but 90% do not. Herion is not for David, stick with the blues and techno...fan since 1987.

I could listen to this album forever. Simply amazing and a major influence in my life, since I've been a child.

One of the finest works of art ever released upon this world. It is just musical perfection in every single way. Every song sends chills up your spine.

I was a non-fan of DM when this came out. It’s greatness was undeniable. Even Trent Reznor gave in to this one. The clean stark cover hints at the tone and clarity of the album.

Depeche mode has great music and this album really shows that. The bonus tracks are amazing, specifically memphisto and dangerous. Violator is a great album to listen to anytime

DM has its third consecutive uber-album in "Violator". No filler songs - just one outstanding tune after another. Their greatest leap in terms of both technological and lyrical achievement, and one of the greatest tours in music history (saw them with Nitzer Ebb that summer in Chicago; it was a night I'll never forget). I particularly like the rhapsodic "Clean" and portentous "Policy of Truth". Also love the addition of "Dangerous" and the stomping instrumental "Kaleid" to the re-master. By the way, pleeeeeease do not plug this one into your car's USB port. Enjoy it at home with absolutely no background noise...and CRANKED.

Violator is one of three albums (Black Celebration & Music for the Masses are the others) where Depeche Mode was at the peak of its creative power. Alan Wilder's arrangements give perfect form to Martin's songs and Dave's singing. "Halo" and "World in my Eyes" are real standouts. Really this is the final 'classic' DM album: Not too much guitar, and the "Sweetest Perfection" of Alan Wilder's talents. DM. Is a classic band that almost single handedly created electronic music as a genre. Violator is a landmark album.

This is a classic depeche mode album but why is this in the rock genre? Shouldn't it be in the electronic genre?

This is possibly Depeche Mode's greatest album, EVER.I have had to buy this album 5 times because my buddies would borrow this and never return it. Yup, that good.Fresh Inc.!!

Violator is great CD by itself. Now that it has bonus tracks like Dangerous, Happiest Girl, and Sea of Sin, it's a MUST BUY! Even if you're only a passing DM fan, it's a must own! Hint...put on some headphones, turn out the lights, close your eyes, and play Waiting for the Night...Brilliant!

Im sorry, I am a huge DM fan and they lost what they had. This is nowhere near the level of thier talent. Maybe after they get back in the game and tour with these songs they will be more inspired. But this feels forced. And sounds it too.

This is my all time favorite album/CD. Ultra is next. Nothing will ever top this.

Depeche mode mode doesn't get enough credit for how many of us they inspired as kids. Still some of the sickest beats ever made are on this record.

This album was the first CD I ever bought and on my 18th bday. I had never bought any DM in prior. What an excellent memory.

I hadn't turned 4 yet when this album came out but it's been in my life for a long time. For some reason this is a perfect summer album for me. I always drag it out around the 4th of July. Must be some weird subconscious memory thing.

Great album which helped pull me thru the 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption. Strangely, the music and lyrics put me into a kind of sedated trance and took my mind off all the tragedy around me.

This is hands down my favorite DEPECHE MODE album. I like every song on it. with Martins lyrics and Dave Gahans sexy voice. It is just the sweetest perfection:) I can't wait for my boys to release a new album!!!! Hopefully this year!!!

Sweet

This album is brilliant. Depeche Mode is seen, or rather heard, at their best in this album. Every song is a pleasure for me to listen to and I don't dislike any of the songs on this album (which is rare for me). Overall, one of my favorite albums ever and my favorite song from it at the moment is Waiting for the Night, but it changes all of the time.

I have had this CD for a while and it is always my favorite to listen to when I need my DM fix. This album alone would be enough to seal them into the great lists of must-have CDs of all time.

Not a bad song on the CD, all different, and all unique. I love DM, they were fresh and clean in the 80's and the music holds up fantasically over time. You would be hard pressed to find a better synth group now. Violator on many lists of CDs you should have to make a real music lovers collection.

Perfecter is not a word, but that's what this remastered version of Violator is. Nice addition of b sides Sea of Sin and Dangerous. Always liked those too.

Depeche Mode great all time band, the 101 concert was good, this LP in concert was the BEST! not a one hit wonder band. I miss 1980-1999 as a De Moder at the clubs.

I had forgotten how great this album is, but it's virtually perfect from start to finish. One of those rare albums where EVERY song is great. Regardless of how you feel about synth-pop, club music or depeche mode in general, these are just incredibly well-written, catchy, melodic and intensely moving songs. You can't help but move when you hear these and they still hold up 20 years later. Solid, strong, awesome - You can't go wrong with this album!

I know a lot of people say this is the best DM album, and i will agree. Personal jesus, policy of truth, and enjoy the silence are among the best pieces of music i've ever listened too. These are songs that forever will be in my ipod. But, i also know people dump on latter work saying that nothing will ever equal this. That's not the point. The point is for them to put out their expressions into their work. So yeah, i love this album, i even rock a tshirt with the violator rose on it. But thats just to praise this album and the Band. Great job by DM.

The guy a ways below me suggests this album is the "Sgt. Pepper" (Beatles landmark album) of electronic music, and that is a more than apt description. The sounds are still fresh and varied and deeply moving. I was fourteen or so when this disc dropped and there was nothing as popular at the time for 'alternative' kids. And oh how many youngsters lost their V to one of these tunes? This album is DM's legacy.

This album is groundbreaking and amazing. This is a headphone album. Crank it up and listen from start to finish. This album more than all their albums finds the perfect marriage of Martin's witty, accessible lyrics and beautiful catchy melodies, Dave's singular vocal delivery and sound, and Alan's perfect stewing of all the elements into a ear-catching whole. Alan's contributions having always been underrated and have been sorely missed on all DM releases since he left. He is the one who truly created the modern DM sound. This album has a staggering number of unique sounds, vibes, melodies, soundscapes, etc. Brilliant!

This is great finding that this is one of my favs and comes with hidden TRACKS!!! I' ve had the cassette tape, the cd, wore the cd out and now the download. Love this one Enjoy the silence is my favorite song. Like I said this never gets old. But I advise you not to hear Hiliry Cuff new album, she took the tune from personal jesus. she sings reach out and touch me. Very Disappointing:(

If you have a choice between the original release of Violator and this, buy this! They are both the same price. Stereo sound + EXCELLENT B-sides (including three of DM's best: Sea of Sin, Happiest Girl, and Dangerous) make this an excellent value. Heck, if you own the CD version (and what DM fan doesn't?), buy this for the stereo sound and the additional six songs. One of my favorite iTunes purchases ever.

A true work of art! Depeche Mode has been my favorite group since I first saw their "people are people" video on Casey Kasem's top 10 show way back when.

Awesome, It's just as a clear and crisp to the 5.1 DVD audio mix!!! A true DM fan will want this, the differnce is truely noticeable. Despite the fact there is no booklet, but then again we want the music!!!

And with the B-sides added to it, is a very huge plus!!!!

just individually bought the songs from this album, and then noticed this album in stereo...the sound is so much better. PLEASE remove the other non-stereo version because the sound is awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
