That the boss is following his passion project! Good tunes !
I've listened to the whole album a couple times. What a great idea to resurrect this music... and Bruce knocks them out of the park.
he has talked often on for the last 25 years about doing a cover his record and he finally got around to it. It’s nice to take a break as a songwriter sometimes and dive into someone else’s work. It’s a bit of a palate cleanser. He tackles the songs as only the boss could. Absolutely brilliant addition to his discography
if you like karaoke of 60's songs done by Bruce then you will love! However what makes Bruce the boss is his story telling and arrangements. Wish he took this time to work on another real album
Trying to get money from everyone by throwing something quick together. Just like his political party.
Go broke. Zero respect for this guy 🤌
Big believer that Music should transcend Politics and even though “The Boss” is now sadly a big part of “The Woke” … this is still great sounding music because he stayed true to the melodies and arrangements 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The guy can do what he wants!! Great album!! Don’t like it, don’t listen!! If you have ever been to a springsteen concert he puts this style in his shows!!
Stellar album. No one can do the classics like the boss. Magical. Sign me up!
Over the last few years I have been extremely disappointed in Bruce both musically and politically I just don’t feel that the two things mix but when I listened to this album it just brought back so many memories I’ve had bands that have played mostly of these tunes As a musician I can tell you that in all of the songs on this album he is extremely true to the music they sound like Motown songs and they sound good I was very surprised and I highly recommend this album
Give it up for The Man!
Love Bruce, but this just doesn't cut it!
I appreciate what he’s doing, but I’m not sure about the song selection. He really doesn’t do much for them. “7 Rooms of Gloom” works though. Makes me want an album of Bruce doing 4 Tops songs.
I’m a huge fan of Jersey’s Bruce — no last name needed. I’m equally a fan of R&B and Soul. Despite the naysayers I think this album is awesome. I’ve listened to it several times and my appreciation of it grows with each listen. Clearly, Bruce wanted to pay homage to those who influenced his unique style be it directly or indirectly. Kudos to Bruce for the tribute to those who have gone before him.
Not born in the USA
This is the album Springsteen should've made decades ago--maybe in place of the snore he put together with "the other band." But his choice of covers is...well, kinda lame. I mean, it's okay, but I don't think I'll be listening to this on heavy rotation.
And I think covering Someday We'll Be Together was ill-advised. The Supremes version is too perfect to ever be improved upon.
This is a very respectable, and respectful attempt to pay homage to some great artists and their music. But it’s only listenable because of who is singing the songs. There are a few very good covers but the rest of it, if you remove The Boss from the equation, is pure K-Tel.
I was never a fan of his original music
I thought this may be ok
Torture. Music is good. Vocals sound like a torture dog being water boarded. His voice is horrible. Sounds strained.
Listening to the whole album this morning and loving it. Bruce having fun is what it’s all about.
Title needs to be only the Elite Woke survive! Hard to believe this guy wrote a song being proud about being Born In the USA! Now he goes along with whatever the NWO agenda is!
This album is giving all the Jersey Shore and Motown vibes I grew up with! Loving every single song!!!
He’s not County! Take him out of this genre.
He might have been born in the USA but he’s been dancing in the dark with his democrat friends for a long time.
A definite replay over and over. Bruce could cover any tune and turn it into gold. This is HIS music, the music he grew up on, the music that inspired him. Much respect! Do I love you, indeed I do!
this is a joke of an album. i could've produced this with no ears or vocal talent
I'm a big fan of both 60's soul music and Bruce Springsteen. Like many, I figured that such a combo would produce no less than a legendary album. And it would have if the song arrangements didn't immaculately copy the originals. What Bruce has done with proprietary takes on classic songs (different genre of course but Stayin' Alive comes quickly to mind) are most often stunning. But since his choice here was to mimic flawless works instrumentally, that leaves only his singing to make this a work of distinction. I dig his singing and applaud him wanting to emphasize it but that means stepping into the ring against the likes of Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Tyrone Davis, Diana Ross and other heavyweights. Good thing he didn't include Love TKO because Teddy Pendergrass would have put him on the mat with the first punch. . Bruce is outstanding at most things he does, his love for this material and faith in his singing is admirable, and I'm not suggesting any musician should constantly stay in the same lane.. But why suit up for this kind of a project without bringing your own musical POV and personality? Especially if you've got such a strong one that can reach people so deeply? I can find plenty of reasons to keep playing Bruce's other albums and plenty of reasons to keep playing the original versions of these songs. Can't find any reason to keep playing this album.
You must be too young to know when he was excellent. It was not *BORNINTHEUSA*. That was his radio hit.
WTFisthis LP for? Bruce doing covers... Sad sad sadsadsad.
He just needs to retire or play strictly at democratic conventions for really hip cats. I can see them all dancing now like Bingo night at the old folks home.
2 stars because I do respect Springsteen's lyric wiritng talents. His skills as a singer and as a melodist are not in the same league, IMO, but they work well enough in support of his own material. He may have grown up listening to the tunes on this album, but performing this music he sounds out of his wheelhouse - stiff, uncomfortable and undistinguished. Singing melodies like these convincingly is simply not his bag, and the retro production style only points this up more. Perhaps it's unfair to review based on just 3 track samples, but OTOH one must assume that the samples released are considered among the strngest tracks and are therefore representative of the best of what's on the ablum. I don't think I will be buying this one.
I love everything he does. Now waiting to see you in concert.
It’s like listening to the toilet flush over and over again on repeat.
The album isn’t even out yet, and there are so many strong reviews 🤔 I find the 2 songs out good but not great, I do love the genre so I am excited
It's a match made in music heaven. Really love Bruce's take on the first two tracks and can't wait to hear the rest. I also hope he includes a couple of these in the setlist when he tours next year.
Springsteen is a one hit wonder. Born in the USA is the only decent song, the rest is garbage
Love ur words
Basic and boring.
All these low reviews are from nit wit trolls. Probably Trump supporters.
Springsteens strenghth is songwriting, this will never be among his best. that being said some of these songs deserved to be dusted off.
Bruce Springsteen is a legend and will go down in history as one of the greatest!
Apple Music needs to stop allowing reviews of music to end unprofessional opinions from people who no nothing about music history.
The one's who don't like Bruce are the ones that just don't get Rock and Roll. Fun loving lyrics of love, heartache, and cars. Something nice to listen to for those of us not willing to give up on rock and roll to listen to country or hip hop/pop.
Bruce just livin the dream!we here at electro all love the boss!love building electro products while listening to your
Inspiring music!what could make a workday more enjoyable!omg!! Rock on dude!!!
Absolutely cannot wait for this album!
Do I love you........Indeed I do.
I love a majority of his songs so I can’t wait for the rest of the album !
His music is as good as his snowflake political view. Take this crap to Australia where you promised to move and sell this crap there!
Not very good
OK..I've only heard one clip from one song but, come on, it's Bruce singing the songs he loves, the music he grew up with. It has to be incredible.
This is Bruce having fun, plain and simple. Can't waiti to hear the rest of the album.
ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE....
