Though imperfect, I was impressed and enjoyed this album thoroughly. Thatβs partly why I suspect that many of the 1-star ratings arenβt thoughtful album reviews. The sheer spread of the star ratings on this album are extreme. Generally speaking most people rated the album as a 1- or 5- stars. This leads me to believe the majority of us are not βreviewersβ but βratersβ βfanaticsβ or βhaters.β Surely anybody giving it an honest listen can at least appreciate the musicianship, cultural influence, and unique direction that Camila and collaboraters implemented even if disliking her as a person. However, Iβm certain that others dislike her singing. This may be true but remember that voice got her famous! I just think that if somebody actually listened to the entire album and gave it 1-star then they really truly have not listened to awful music. In my opinion, if an album gets rated a 1-star then that is the equivalent of saying it needs to be removed from iTunes (e.g., Soulja Boy). We all can admit that Camila is a very successful (and arguably talented) artist. I think Familia was very well-produced and catchy, but I was disappointed by the discontinuity of the track list. Many of the songs would flow better in a different order. Also, Camila said that this album was inspired by family friends and food but really it seems to focus more on her tumultuous relationship with Shawn. Otherwise, imo it is a beautiful work and worthy of preorder. 4.5 Stars!
