When it comes to the music itself, I really like it, although I’m not a fan of some of the lyrics in some of the songs. I’m not sure if going in a more political direction was the best idea, even if I agree with SOME of the topics in these songs. Some of these lyrics just rub me the wrong way, especially “You may be woke but you’re not awake.” I personally hate the term woke because most people use it as an insult towards those who simply want to live their lives differently. As someone who’s met many of them, there’s no harm in letting these people live the way they want to, and a few of these songs feel like they target that exact audience. I wouldn’t be very happy listening to lyrics that imply that I’m the problem when I’m simply trying to live my life, and it hurts me that one of my favorite bands of all time is going this way. Other than some of the political themes though, I do like most of the songs. Luckily I can just ignore the ones that I don’t enjoy. I also don’t care for just how many transitional songs there are in the album, it led me to believe that we were getting at least 15 full songs before the album came out. In retrospect it made sense, but it’s gonna make shuffling the album a bit more annoying
