Much less interesting than other album. It’s really boring. You would not listen to this while reading, driving, or doing some painting staff. It would make you sleepy. Don’t buy it, unless it’s only for collection purposes.

Love the soundtrack and it sounds amazing, but the previews don’t really highlight the best points of the song, iTunes please fix

Exhilarating!

When I first heard this score I was underwhelmed (admittedly, I didn’t give much of a chance). Then I watched the film (which was breathtaking) and listened to the score again. And again. And again. Without doubt, this is one of Zimmer’s best and most sweeping scores to date. It’s filled with so many details and subtle melodies, unique sounds and grand themes. Truthfully, though, I’m not a big fan of the loud female vocalist, but everything else is exceptional. On a side note (no pun intended), there are at least four songs I can’t stop listening to and really help me get wired at the gym.

This is really Hans?

The man who wrote the scores to Interstellar, Inception, Dark Knight, and many more… no shot. This was horrible.

Funny to read these comments saying the soundtrack "doesn't stand alone, like the rest of Zimmer's stuff." Maybe. But movie soundtracks arent meant to stand alone, they're meant to support the story. (Whether while playing along within the movie; or afterward, for those who've seen the move and want to be reminded of it.) It's part of the eperience of the film.

One of Hans’ Best

I’ve been such a fan of Hans Zimmer since I was a kid in high school and Batman Begins came out. I would say his film scores are what got me interested in films scores in the first place. I would put Dune up agains any of his previous work. It was such an important part of the film and stands on its own. Check it out.

The composer is clearly capable of creating memorable scores...with themes. He just doesn't do it anymore...nor does most of his contemporaries. I don't think these guys have run out of ideas but the directors don't like their work on screen being enchanced or upstaged by the music score. This score like most of Zimmer's work is background music made to make you feel the mood of the scene only and too that Zimmer always does excellent work. The reason why Zimmer's work on Batman Begins was better was because he partnered up with Newton-Howard who provided much of the softer, dramatic cues that generally make for better soundtrack listening. When came time for the Man of Steel, he had moments of quiet introspection but it, like the movie, was to dower and lacked the fun spirit of the character/movie franchise. Which is crazy because he's done excellent work on Gladiator, Pirates of the Carribean, the Simpsons Movie (when he emulated Elfman perfectly) and all the way back to the Lion King. He needs to go back to scoring scores with themes and that does more than just being background noise.

Complex and magnificent themes for a complex and magnificent book!

I think why the ratings are low is because people want a theme they can resonate with. Hans Zimmer fabricated MULTIPLE themes and complex sounds that ONLY resonates with the Dune universe. He’s brought it to life through the ambiance and complexity of this epic story! I can’t think of a more perfect theme to represent the Bene Gesserit 🙌🏼

Don’t you dare compare this to the original!!

I am a big fan of the original soundtrack by Toto. It is powerful and keeps you intrigued. The new version lacks the strength and the originality of the Toto tracks. Hans Zimmer is amazing but this soundtrack is so boring!

This soundtrack sounded like a complete 180 from the immersive “Dune Sketchbook”. To my ears, everything sounded way too similar…. too middle of the road. Reminded me of every sci fi movie soundtrack I have seen in the last few years. There are some brief references to themes and sounds from the sketchbook, and it does seem like there are a couple newly introduced themes… but nothing that sparks the imagination.
Cant understand why this was done.

Disappointing

I was so looking forward to this album. After all the talk about finding new sounds and new instruments and creating a unique score no one had ever heard before, I expected a lot more than this. It’s a fine score if you like brooding soundscapes, but nothing really original and unfortunately nothing exciting or memorable. The “sketchbook” album is honestly more interesting, I’d start with that before purchasing this.

Music before the Movie!

Why do they release the album way before the movie?? It’s a spoiler - yes, I get that people will become more hyped to see the movie if getting a taste of it (through the album) first, but that’s a move that intentionally spoils their own movie! They shouldn’t have released this, & people shouldn’t hear this until the movie… Bad move.

I love Hans Zimmer he’s my favorite but this absolutely his weakest album. I’m sure in the movie is works well but as a stand alone listen this is way too atmospheric and boring. Armada is the only good exciting track was going to hear music from the teaser trailer but instead we get things similar to what he did in Dark Phoenix and the Electro theme from TASM2.

Wanna walk through the desert listening!

This is another Zimmer score which is fantastic! Definitely doing something unique in this from all his other scores. Definitely fits the vibe of the movie. Every track has some eerie component to it and I think it will go along with the film very very superbly. Love the vocal work which brings very different sound than any work he’s done yet. This score has a unique sound and MIGHT be award worthy around Oscar season. Don’t think it would win but has a nice chance of getting nominated. We will see. Not his best score by any stretch, but a worthy addition to his list of works!

It’s Hans.
